d a destination wedding, I didn't get to meet Shawn in person until the day of the event, but it felt like I already knew him. He arrived early and had everything set up beautifully for the event. My husband and I love the show Parks and Recreation, and we wanted to enter to the theme song when walking into the reception. Shawn did a great job with this and everyone had a good time. We also have quite a bit of family who are OSU fans, and he had no problem playing the fight song as tribute to them at 8:30 when the game was supposed to start. I cannot speak highly enough of Shawn. He is fantastic to work with. Book him now!

What I liked best about this DJ company is the program that is used to select music and organize timeline of events during the ceremony and reception. You can add special notes to your music selection of the song is meant to be a dedication that the DJ can announce to the audience. This requires some work and organization but well worth it in the end. During our engagement, I kept a notepad file on my phone of songs I wanted on our playlist for our wedding. Over time this helped to pick and choose (and most importantly remember) songs. You can also pick obscure songs and provide the YouTube link and they will convert them to MP3 song format to use. We wanted our college alma mater played during our cake cutting and we found a YouTube video with the audio that we wanted. The week of our wedding we had a final meeting with Shawn and Chris to review our playlist and timeline of events. I found this be extremely helpful to have an opportunity to communicate our wishes and plans for our wedding entertainment so that we were all on the same page. Plus, to make sure I followed their program format correctly and my detailed thoughts were described coherently. I picked out a lot of songs to play and Chris did a very good job obliging my wishes. He also put together a blended mix of song selections that I wanted played during my wedding party introductions. The mix turned out great and he followed my description as to when I wanted the songs to begin and end. Chris also did a great job of playing song requests from guests and my guests even commented on how dedicated he was to fulfilling requests. I have been to weddings and clubs where I have requested a song and it is ignored so I was happy to hear that from my guests. Another thing to note is that Shawn and Chris were in on a surprise gift for me and my groom at our wedding. We had a surprise visit from Mickey and Minnie Mouse! My aunt had called them to see if this was possible to pull off during the reception and once again they were very cooperative and played Cinderella's "A Dream is a wish Your Heart Makes". Lastly, for anyone reading this and considering Subsonic Event DJ's, I say do it and you won't be disappointed! The program format that they use is great for creating your dream wedding playlist and organizing your wedding entertainment timeline.

plan each song for all of the important introductions, and when we couldn’t come up with a specific song we liked, we could pull information about the most common songs for those times, like the flower toss, cutting the cake, etc. In addition to the music, we also hired them for the photo booth, bubble machine, and had a projection screen with our monogram at the rehearsal. Those elements really set the stage for an unforgettable event that our guests really enjoyed. I have to say though, a lot of companies probably offer some of the same things, like a photo booth, monogram, etc., but they don’t have the customer service and attentiveness that Shawn and his staff offers. We even forgot to bring out photo book home from the reception after the wedding had ended, and Shawn arranged a time to meet with us to drop it off. He goes above and beyond for his clients. All DJ’s are not created equal! He is superb!

no doubt we made the best choice in Shawn. He was very easy to communicate with throughout the entire process and very responsive. His online planning tools were very easy to use and made music planning very simple. We requested a specific version of a lesser-known Frank Sinatra song for our first dance and he was able to get us the correct version and made absolute certain beforehand that he had the version we were looking for. People stayed on the dance floor all night with no encouragement! Everything ran very smoothly timeline-wise as well, and the shoe game was a blast. He also did uplighting and a monogram gobo light for us, all of which was beautiful and added so much to the entire vibe of the reception, and we also did our photobooth through him. Our guests loved it and getting all the photos at the end was so fun! No regrets at all in choosing Subsonic, an incredibly strong vendor. Thank you Shawn!

He threw in dance lights and didn't even want to charge me for the cake pin lights. PLUS... he got together with my husband and planned a few tricks for the garter toss. We also didn't have a coordinator, so when it came time to figuring out the timeline of the reception... he was there every step of the way. He coordinated our entrances to the reception as well - what a relief! I didn't even think of it considering there's always so much to do in planning, but he had it all together and I appreciated that so much. I had a close cousin pass away a couple of weeks before that and my grandfather passed away a couple of days before my wedding as well so we tried to, last minute, come up with a fun father/daughter dance to get everybody laughing and to forget about the heartache... even though it was last minute, DJ Shawn put together a song mash-up and it couldn't have been better. He was absolutely great and so caring/sympathetic to my situation! For future brides... this was my mistake... if you create a request list, remember to tell your DJ that he won't be accepting requests. I told you though, they couldn't get enough of him! Haha! Great DJ!

ld treat us & our guests just like any other wedding party. I’m happy to report that Chris did a fantastic job as DJ & MC! My husband & I had no wedding planner so our wedding day was crazy. We left late for the venue & Chris called to say he was already there setting up. He was the first one there, before caterers or anyone else. He wanted to be there early to make sure everything went as planned. What dedication! We had a ton of song selections & various videos scheduled to play throughout the reception. We literally handed Chris a picture slideshow 30 minutes before the start of the event, despite promising it to him earlier in the week. We hadn’t been able to finish it until just before the reception started. He was a total pro & got everything up & running in time. Most of the reception went as planned but there was one of the slideshows that ended abruptly in the middle (our fault, not his). He quickly got some music going to keep things moving, avoiding any awkward pauses. We had an absolute blast at the reception (full open bar helps). Most of our guests were dancing all night. The dance floor we rented became quite crowded because everyone was having such a good time. Chris did a great job mixing up the music we picked, incorporating guest requests, & keeping the party going. He has good energy & his personality fit well with our guests. He hit all the cues for introductions, buffet calls, first dances, etc. SubSonic was able to get all the music we wanted, even hard to find versions & remixes. The price we paid was more than I had originally budgeted for a DJ, but in the end it was worth it for the equipment, uplighting, & professional DJ & MC services SubSonic provided. I would highly recommend them for your event!

I couldn't afford to hire a wedding planner or a wedding coordinator, and that right there is enough to turn any bride into bridezilla, but Shawn was that one thing that made me know everything was going to work out as perfectly as i imagined on my wedding day. And he did too. My family is on the little bit of the crazy side, they are very unorganized, and a bunch of procrastinators, without Shawn my wedding would have been a disaster. He provided order from beginning to end . My family and friends even ranted and raved on "how amazing the Dj was". He let everyone know what was going on at all times. He is so easy to talk, and what is important to you is important to him. He is full of advice and help if you need it, every step of the way. If you have any questions he is there is answer them. What surprised me the most was how he helped fixed the string of lights that went out during the reception!!!! I knew at all times what was going to happen next, he kept my family informed for the most important moments and made sure we were ready for them. I NEVER felt nervous for one moment and that right there was the best wedding gift i could have gotten on my wedding day. THANK YOU SHAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

be classy and fun. I found that in Subsonic Events DJ and Shawn. I was really glad that he had done weddings at Highland before and knew how to set up the sound system for the ceremony. We got married outside and he set up the speakers for the music, lapel mic'ed the pastor, and had a mic stand and guitar hook up for my little sister in law who sang during the ceremony. It was perfect. The reception was also perfect. He played the perfect mix of the smooth, jazzy songs we wanted while everyone was eating, and then fun, up-beat, dancing songs for dancing! It literally could not have been more perfect. He was more than happy to make any announcements for us and showed up dressed impeccably (which I have heard is an issue with some other dj's). He also provided lots of good suggestions (like having the bridal party join in the first dance towards the end) that really helped make our day special. The way his website is set up, he makes it so easy to pick all your special songs and set up an easy timeline for him, and he won't hesitate to ask if he has any questions. Overall, we were thrilled with the experience, as well as the cost. Shawn was great!

The prices were straight forward and very fair in comparison to what I was seeing out there... We were blown away upon our first consultation. We signed the contract and put our deposit down the following day because his passion for what he does is very evident and we knew we were in great hands. We even recommended him to a cousin of a friend whose wedding was coming up before ours based off our first interaction alone. They were beyond pleased and all we heard was glowing feedback about his services. He really thinks of everything. He had a bunch of fun ideas and gadgets for the garter toss, bouquet toss, and wedding in general that was super helpful. He was honestly there to help us throughout the whole process from mixing songs last minute for our dances, to helping us navigate the website, which is really user-friendly. We booked him for both the ceremony and the reception. His services exceeded our expectations and all of our guests had a great time. He can get any song you'd like and is extremely accommodating. I will continue to highly recommend Shawn to anyone who is need of a DJ, whether it be a wedding or any other kind of event. He's a great person and it was truly a joy working with him. A week before the big day, we got together and finalized the timeline for the reception to make sure everything ran smooth and how we wanted it. Since bride & groom are too busy having a good time to watch a clock, he came up to us to make sure we were ready for the next dance or speech, and made sure everyone participating was present before making the announcement, which would have been quite a gaff IF that had happened! But being the professional that he is, everything went smoothly and no one was the wiser that mom was in the bathroom at the time she was suppose to be dancing with her son! He definitely fulfilled all of our DJ needs for our reception and everyone had a blast! If we have an event in the future that requires a DJ, we would be honored to have him play for us again!
