Subtle Approach Catering is a Chef owned and operated catering company. We offer a range of catering services, from intimate, plated wedding dinners to large sit-down buffets. No matter the occasion, we have the expertise and resources to make your wedding day a success.
We are a team of passionate food professionals and event planners dedicated to bringing the best catering experience to our clients. Our kitchen team is led by Chef/ Owner Kyle Campisi. At Subtle Approach, we believe that food is at the heart of every great event. That's why we use only the freshest ingredients and work closely with our clients to create custom menus that suit their tastes and dietary needs.
Barbro Fehlauer is our Director of Sales and your day of contact. Because she's with you from your initial conversation all the way through your wedding day, you can be assured every detail will be just as dreamed of. You won't find anyone with higher organizational skills, who brings dynamic service standards to each event!
At Subtle Approach we have a strict "one event a day" policy. Unique to find with caterers during busy wedding season, this policy ensures that your wedding is our sole focus, enabling us to provide you with our top tier staff to ensure no detail is missed.

I’m Kyle Campisi Chef/ Owner of Subtle Approach Catering.
As a chef I place a large focus on the food and service for each event! Each event gets 100% of our focus with out one event a day policy. If we are at your event that’s the only event we have that day to ensure it goes perfectly!
I use great quality local & organic produce when possible. As a new catering company we have low overhead that allows us to keep the food quality high and keeps the price low so everyone can enjoy our food without the huge markup!

Kyle, Barbro and the team were some the kindest and most professional people I have ever worked with. They made this entire process so easy and pleasant by being thourough and very responsive to any questions and emails we had from the start, even agreeing to a zoom meeting with us. At my wedding, the team was so kind. They went above and beyond doing many extra things such as helping out with decorations, helping with my bustle, and even hand washing my plates when they thought the dishwasher too old to use. The food was absolutely delicious, every guests loved it (I recommend the braised short ribs). I will always recommend in the future as working with them for my wedding was the best decision I could make. Thank you again Kyle, Barbro and the entire team!

Kyle is amazing! He was so nice to work with and we couldn't have asked for more. His food was amazing and his team was just as amazing at our wedding. I would absolutely recommend Kyle and his crew for your event. You will not regret it!! And your taste buds will thank you!

My husband and I were married on September 1st and we used Subtle Approach as our caterer, venue set up and bar tending. Kyle and his team are AMAZING. We cannot recommend them enough. Throughout the entire process, Kyle was so accommodating, knowledgeable and pleasant to interact with; we always looked forward to our meetings with him.
Kyle's food is so delicious. We had multiple guests gush about the food, saying it was the best wedding food they've ever had and asking who the caterer was. In the early stages of our wedding planning, my husband said he wanted to the food to be one of the highlights and with Subtle Approach we accomplished that in a way greater than we even imagined!

Kyle and his team are amazing!! From the moment we met him at our tasting, we knew we had found our caterer. The food was so beautifully presented and the taste was exceptional!! He worked with us to create our perfect wedding day menu, answered any questions we had along the way, put our minds at ease with his abundant knowledge, and was fantastic at communicating!
Kyle met us at our venue, Thornewood Castle, a couple of weeks before to ensure all the details and our vision were met. We had complete trust in him and his team, and they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect on our wedding day!
Kyle and his team provided the tastiest food we have had! All our guests raved about it and how delicious everything was! Kyle made it extra special, plating us at our sweetheart table and ensuring we had leftovers for us to enjoy later.
Having the right caterer made all the difference! We will forever recommend Subtle Approach Catering!! We are already thinking of ways we can taste his delicious food again!

Kyle’s team cooked the food onsite at Thornewood which I think contributed to it tasting so great. Most wedding caterers are notorious for tasting bad or bland but the beef that Kyle cooked was honestly better than any restaurant I’ve ever tasted. All their other food was top notch, too. I was surprised with their vegetarian option – roasted cauliflower with a special butter sauce and cherry tomatoes. I love meat but when we tried the cauliflower at the tasting, I was surprised that vegetables could taste that good.
For our tasting session, they offered it to us free of charge which we soon found out was because they were so confident in the quality of their food. We even showed up to the tasting 30 minutes late so the food had been sitting and we still loved it. Before Subtle Approach, we tried a tasting with a much more popular caterer who charged us $100 and the food was terrible.
Subtle Approach was very accommodating to us changing our order many times before the wedding and handled all the necessary rentals for dining. Their prices were around average or maybe a bit below average when compared to quotes we got from a few other caterers.
Overall, I would highly recommend Kyle’s team at Subtle Approach for any catering event because of how amazing their food is! Given the slightly below average price, they are an exceptional value!

We were thrilled to have Subtle Approach Catering at our wedding, and they truly made the day unforgettable! Kyle and his team crafted a custom Argentinian menu with incredible passed appetizers, drinks, and desserts that were completely unique and special to us. They went above and beyond to accommodate gluten-free, dairy-free, and other allergy needs, ensuring that everyone could enjoy the food. The team’s professionalism and seamless coordination with our other vendors made everything run smoothly.
The communication was flawless, and the food was simply outstanding—guests are still raving about it! From start to finish, Kyle’s dedication made the experience exceptional.
Communication, food, and service were all 10/10. We can’t recommend Subtle Approach Catering highly enough for any event! We had a black tie wedding and it was memorable, wow!

Subtle Approach was very easy to work with. Kyle really understood the dietary restrictions for the Bride and accommodated the menu changes that were made. The staff were friendly and professional.
Now….for the food. Our guests were raving about how good it was. It was a simple Italian buffet, but not your ordinary dishes. Kyle made some great recommendations when we discussed the menu items.
We will be spreading the word on Subtle Approach Catering and hope to have a future opportunity to use them.

Kyle and Barbro are the most wonderful people to work with! My husband and I wanted an all vegan menu and they were most happy to create one. The guests absolutely loved it! Keep in mind, my husband and I are the only vegans in our families so to have the hard core meat eaters rave about the food meant so much! My uncle had never had vegan food and it was all praise from him. Also, my sister has an olive oil allergy and Kyle made her a special olive oil free plate. He was so understanding and accommodating. If you want a vegan menu (or any other!) at your wedding you must use Subtle Approach Catering! Kyle will not disappoint. Plus, he and Barbro are authentic, kind, humble and beautiful people to have at your special day. I cannot say enough about what a wonderful experience working with them was. We had a year wait after the tasting and we both daydreamed throughout the year, saying we could not wait to have the food again! It was magnificent! Thank you Kyle, Barbro and team! We're trying to come up with another event to work with you again!!

Kyle, Barbro and their team gave us the wedding of our dreams. Not only was the food and service amazing, but they went above and beyond to ensure our wedding day was pure magic. From the tasting we had an incredible experience and our son absolutely adored them as well! Everything was so smooth and I couldn't have envisioned our day going any better.
I will only recommend Subtle Approach Catering for any event that needs catering! We had such a great time at our wedding that they are catering our Thanksgiving.

Kyle and his team gave us a perfect reception. The food was incredible, the menu gave everyone something to enjoy, and the tarts to finish it off were gorgeous. From our first interaction Kyle was great to work with and quick to communicate along the way. No detail was skipped and my guests are still raving about the food.

"Top wedding catering company in WA"
We had a wedding reception at Thronewood castle, and Subtle Approach Catering did a great job at castle wedding plates dinner. Chef, Kyle is talented amazing skills. Their appetizers at cocktail hour, guests were so happy and plates dinner and staff server was great. Coordinator Barbro is a professional advice for the menue & tasting and designed beautiful wedding menue arrangement at the castle.
We believe this catering company service and chef's skill is the top level in WA states.
And costs was reasonable. We highly recommend this catering company for people who are going to search their event

We had an amazing experience with Subtle Approach. The food was delicious, and the entire staff was excellent. They were full service. They showed up on time and helped set everything up. I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Extremely professional. I’ll use them again for sure and refer others as well.

The dynamic duo of Kyle + Barbaro made our wedding food absolutely stellar. They were so accommodating, helpful, professional, and made DELICIOUS food. My husband used to be a chef, so we had a really high bar. They raised it even further!
The food was so amazing, but my personal favorite were the parmesan cheese puffs, compressed watermelon (so creative!), steak bites, and short rib. Our guests raved about it as well – even the vegans! They were great at handling allergies + food needs.
They were by far and away a phenomenal vendor. Wedding planning is stressful enough; hiring this team will make it much easier!

I hired subtle approach catering immediately after a taste test. The team was organized clean and best of all the food was delicious. Best food I’ve had at any catering event ever! (And I work for a touring company, I’ve seen eaten a lot of catering food.). 10/10 I can’t recommend enough!

Chef Kyle and his team were one of the best parts of our wedding! Not only was our food delicious but the service team took great care of our guests during dinner and cocktail hour. We had a buffet set up but the chef made us our plates himself so they were “plated” style which felt elevated for us. Our guests raved about the food all night!

Kyle did an outstanding job on our daughter’s wedding reception. Everything was done to perfection….of course the food was amazing, but every detail along the way was handled in a professional and friendly manner. I have since had Kyle do some smaller gatherings at my home and they were just as exceptional!
