We worked with Kaela to create our August 2020 wedding cake and the entire experience was fabulous!! Our cake turned out even more beautifully than we had envisioned and it tasted AMAZING. We have a slice for our first anniversary in the freezer, but I’m honestly not sure it will last that long! It’s too yummy. We also ordered heart shaped sugar cookies for our dessert table and they were as cute as they were delicious. I’ll also add that the cake tasting with Sugar and Scribe was so much fun!!! Easily one of the highlights of our wedding planning experience. Would highly recommend Sugar and Scribe for anyone looking for an elegant and tasty cake, as well as excellent customer service.

We knew exactly why we wanted look wise and they nailed it! We had an all white fondant cake with sugar flowers that was a star of its own. We went for a cake tasting which cost money (don’t remember the amount) since we ended up getting a cake they applied the amount of the tasting. We tried all the different flavors which we amazing but we ended with a classic vanilla and chocolate (4tiers). We had day of planners so to my knowledge no issues with delivery or timing of the cake!

They made my wedding cake and it was delicious! I would definitely recommend for wedding cakes!

After looking into so many bakeries for our wedding cake and cupcakes, we ultimately were drawn to Sugar & Scribe for their taste, presentation, and overall energy that the S&S team provided! On our initial tasting (nominal $30 fee), Ray helped guide us through their cupcake varieties and work through our vision. You will sample all their current in-house flavors, so come with an appetite. You will also try some seasonal flavors as well- keep in mind if you're tasting for a different season. If you want matching colors, they have all the sprinkles and luster dust you can think of. We weren't too complicated as all we wanted was a semi-nude cake and a couple cupcakes to go with- nothing crazy or anything like that. As the wedding planning ensued, our original vision grew to a tiered cake with over 100 mini cupcakes! When everything unfolded on our wedding day, we cold not express how happy we were to see what Maeve and her team helped create! Our vanilla tiered cake that was reserved didn't last for us as I ate it all, and the chocolate salted caramel and the elderberry cupcakes were a hit with everyone in attendance! Definitely will come back to La Jolla just to visit Sugar & Scribe!

"The best wedding cake" was the feedback we heard all night! We chose elderberry. It was delicious. I've heard many people comment that wedding cakes look great but the taste is...blah. Not ours!! Several people took slices home and we were getting message for days after that our guests were still enjoying our cake! For the total experience; We really enjoyed our cake tasting, appreciated Chef Maeve's help in picking our flavor, we emailed pictures and the cake arrived exactly as we asked. We were so happy!

We loved Sugar + Scribe! For the quality of desserts, we expected to pay top dollar (which would have been worth it), but it was surprisingly AFFORDABLE! Their cakes and desserts are DELICIOUS and BEAUTIFUL, and can also be delivered on the day of the wedding!! We ordered a traditional wedding cake, a specially designed groom’s cake, cupcakes, donuts, and cookies. Our guests raved about how beautiful and tasty everything was. Sugar + Scribe set up the desserts at our reception; everything was perfect and required zero work from us on our wedding day. We strongly recommend doing the tasting at their store in La Jolla! You get to taste many of their flavors for cake and frosting, and it is an enjoyable experience. We worked with Jade who is friendly and makes the experience a fun one. She will help you decide the perfect flavors and designs to fit your style and guests. You should definitely order your wedding cake and desserts from Sugar + Scribe, you will not be disappointed!!! WE LOVED THEM!!!

Sugar and Scribe did the cupcakes for my wedding, and they were delicious and beautiful. I do think we over-ordered (we had a lot left over), and we based the number that we ordered on their recommendation, but having extra cupcakes around the house is a great problem to have!

Sugar and Scribe provided desserts for my wedding in November 2016. I looked endlessly at other bakeries that would do an assorted desserts menu and tasted at two other places. This place had the best tasting desserts and were even the least expensive! Ordered assorted desserts but still wanted a small 8" cake for cutting and family. They did a great job personalizing what flavors we wanted, and even added a little bit of glitter to some items to spruce them up! Maeve came and used the flowers from the florist to decorate the cake herself. The cake was delicious and moist. We should have definitely ordered more - we didn't account for lots of drunk people taking more than the usual amount of dessert! If you think your guests will get the drunk munchies, I definitely recommend ordering more than recommended because all of the desserts were gone within 10 minutes. Maeve did a beautiful, clean job on the cake and the assorted desserts were delicious. Now I just want to go back for brunch and a macaron! :)

YUM!!!!! Sugar and Scribe did our wedding desserts and everything was amazingly delicious! We had a small round cake just for us, and mini pies and cupcakes for the guests. Everyone was raving about them all night and we've still been craving them ever since.

Sugar and Scribe did an amazing job from the cake testing to the actual wedding cake. The cake was so moist and delicious.

Sugar and Scribe was truly delicious and everything we could have hoped for and imagined to enjoy on our wedding day! Our guests couldn't stop telling us about how scrumptious each flavor of our wedding cake was for dessert. We had a three tiered cake that included chocolate with caramel frosting, vanilla and cream frosting, and the most spectacular strawberry shortcake flavored layers!

I was set on having one small cake and 7 dozen cupcakes. I spoke with several bakeries and they all wanted to charge for a tasting and one even said I would get a dozen cupcakes to taste in four flavors of their choice. Why would it be their choice? What if I hate a certain flavor and why do I need 4 cupcakes in that flavor? Most were around $300+. The owner of sugar and scribe was wonderful. They did a free tasting of 12 different flavors because they believe in their product. We went with 3 different flavors and the were able to make the hydrangea cupcakes that I wanted and hydrangeas cascading down the side of the cake. They turned out beautiful and it was even less expensive than every other bakery I talked to and that price even included delivery. I can't say enough good things about Sugar and Scribe!

Maeve is the owner and she is so awesome! Shes sweet and funny and makes some fabulous cupcakes (which she also turns into wedding cakes). She will do any flavor you want and do any decoration you want! Our wedding cake was the Tiramisu and everyone LOVED it!! We still have people talking about our wedding cake! It was absolutely delicious!
