Rick crafted us an absolutely stunning wedding cake. We went with fairly simple flavors of vanilla with strawberry filling and lemon with raspberry filling and both were very delicious. Thank you!

In short, do not work with Sugar Baby's Cake for your wedding cake. We did not receive the cake that we ordered, and I would have gone with a different vendor knowing what I know now (Full story below). I met with the owner of Sugar Baby's Cakery at a completely unrelated french cafe in Houston to attend our wedding cake tasting with my wedding planner, fiance, and one of my bridesmaids. The owner was very nice, and he told us his story with decades of experience with wedding cakes along with some of the trials of running a small business. I have deep respect for small business owners. The cake at the tasting was great. He brought a variety of cake flavors and icing flavors and it was truly difficult to choose which we preferred. We discussed wedding cake design, pricing, and delivery. We ultimately decided on a four tiered wedding cake where each tier was a separate flavor including a custom flavor that he would create especially for my wedding (a strawberry filling with chunks of strawberry for the largest layer). The flavors were inventive and each flavor spoke to my fiance and I's taste. I left the tasting confident that the cake would be exceptional at my wedding. Flash forward to the day of the wedding, and my groom and I cut into the cake. I instantly realized that the cake did not look to be the flavor that we ordered. When the cake was cut and passed to the guests, the staff asked each guest "chocolate or vanilla?" Because those were the only two flavors included on the cake. Forget the four contracted flavors and forget the custom filling, we were instead provided with simple chocolate and vanilla cake. Additionally, the texture and level of moisture in the cake was completely different than what we had experienced at the tasting. I watched as guests took a single bite of cake and left the rest to be discarded at the evening. I truly believe that I could have received a better, higher quality cake from a grocery store such as HEB or Kroger. I reached out after my wedding within the first week and was told that in his 20 years of business, the owner had never experienced a single complaint. He gaslit me and my husband into believing that we didn't properly remember the cake served at our wedding just a few days prior. I've routinely asked for a partial refund and the responses have gone from "we will get back to you in a month" to absolutely 0 response. I'm from New Orleans and wedding cake is an important aspect of wedding culture and I am truly embarrassed by serving my guests the quality of cake that Sugar Baby's delivered. We have received an apology for how the cake made us feel, and an offer to remedy the experience with another smaller cake suitable for a holiday function. Another cake is not an acceptable remediation of a $$$$ wedding cake that was not provided as contracted. I am devastated to write this review, but it is my last resort before legal action is considered.

Rick was so easy to work with, he was very responsive and helpful. The cakes were so delicious, we also ordered mini cheesecakes and macarons. Everyone loved them and the price was so great for everything we ordered.
