Sugar By Sarah

Honestly, we were a little concerned when we started working with Sarah because she was slow to respond to our messages, but we did work on choosing a wedding cake artist (yes, Sarah is an artist) extremely early, so it was okay. We talked to many, many local bakers and tested cakes at one or two other places, but her cakes were like no other. I am so excited to eat the top layer of our cake on our first anniversary because it was absolutely amazing. Not only did we receive many, many compliments on how great the cake tasted (lemon+vanilla in one layer, chocolate+hazelnut in two layers), but it LOOKED amazing. From the second my husband and I got engaged, we knew we wanted a tree cake - a cake with fondant that made it appear like birch bark with our initials carved into it, and Sarah is the only baker around who didn't blink an eye at that request, and then she executed it perfectly. We also had her make small sugar cookies in the shape of leaves, and they were absolutely stunning. The fall colors and the splashes of gold on them - really beautiful work. Once I receive the wedding photos, I will post photos of what she created for us. I also plan to use Sarah again for my veterinary school graduation party in 2019!

We ordered 100 mini cakes in a jar for favors and 30 large square cookies for the welcome bags. Everyone said they were too cute to eat! However, they were also so delicious! I even froze a couple of the mini cakes after the wedding. I took one out when we got home from our honeymoon and it was still amazing!
