Sugar City Celebrations is a full-service wedding planning and catering company based in North Richland Hills, TX. Husband-and-wife team Carron and Walter have over 40 years of combined experience in serving special events. Carron is a certified wedding planner and designer who loves curating special days and decadent wedding cakes. Walter is an executive chef and the company’s Director of Food Service, who thrives on creating mouth-watering creations designed to each client's specifications. As a married couple, Carron and Walter understand the excitement - but also the stress - that comes with wedding planning. With their all-inclusive packages, they aim to make your wedding journey an enjoyable experience and as stress-free as possible.
Couples will delight at the array of catering options available from Sugar City Celebrations. Their most popular package, An Elegant Affair, offers ample menu choices. It includes hot and cold passed hor d’oeuvres, appetizer bites, a salad course, various entrées, accouterments, cucumber mint water and a selection of teas. Delicious entrées include Tequila Marinated Chicken, Applewood Smoked Bacon Breakfast Hash, and Four Cheese Baked Ziti. For dessert, your guests will delight at the inclusion of the ‘Let Them Eat Cake’ bar. This includes handcrafted truffles, homemade pie, candy, popcorn bars, and more. Enjoy these sweet treats with a hot beverage from the hot chocolate and coffee bar available. Just when your guests think it couldn’t get any better, unveil your sumptuous, custom-made wedding cake. Each cake is lovingly handcrafted with made-from-scratch ingredients. Flavors include champagne, black forest chocolate, smore love, tiramisu, and many more.
Sugar City Celebrations offers customizable wedding packages for your convenience. Each package includes consultations, event manager, wait staff and bartenders, all catering equipment and dinnerware, and a complimentary menu tasting for up to four people. Cake-cutting service, beverage service, linens, napkins, and accent tables are also included. This professional team will provide a venue visit, a two-hour wedding planning meeting, floorplans, and a timeline of your day as part of this package, accounting for every aspect of your event. Additional enhancements such as floral centerpieces, entertainment services, decor, and lighting are also available. All-inclusive packages also include ceremony and reception spaces along with get-ready rooms.

Everything about Sugar City Celebrations is AMAZING! We had Carron and Walter help us with basically everything as we are not in the DFW Area and let me tell you they knocked it OUT OF THE PARK! Everyone stills tells me how beautiful our wedding was, how AMAZING the food was and nobody can stop talking about the chocolate cake!
Planning a wedding in a town you don’t live in is super stressful and having Carron there to basically plan and execute it all for me was the greatest thing I could have ever done for myself!

Sugar City Celebrations became such a special part of our wedding day—more like family than just a vendor. Having Carron, someone so close to Isaac, involved made the day feel deeply personal and heartfelt. Her kindness and dedication truly shined through every bite.
The food was absolutely delicious and made with so much care. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about it. And the cake? Moist, rich, and unforgettable—gone almost before we knew it, just like those precious moments we shared.

Sugar City planned, coordinated, and catered our April 2025 wedding at the Hall of State and was an absolute dream to work with! Carron and her team made our vision come to life (which we planned with her long distance from Baltimore), and we are so happy with how everything turned out. In addition to the catering, Sugar City did our flowers, cakes, and booked our DJ through Dallas Light and Sound. Carron met with me and my husband multiple times during the year leading up to our wedding, both in person and virtually, to discuss everything from the menu to décor, florals, DJ, lighting, and draping. Carron is both creative and detail oriented, and she listened to what we wanted and executed it with perfection. Carron’s daughter, Shelbi, was our day-of coordinator and took great care of us, keeping everything on schedule and fun. In an industry where it often feels hard to find a good value, we are so happy with the quality, affordability, and professionalism of the Sugar City team and would recommend them to anyone in the area.
Sugar City also allowed us to incorporate my dad’s homemade sausage as a passed hors d’oeuvres, which was really meaningful to my dad and my family. We also wanted a signature cocktail called “The Big Tex” with sweet tea vodka and lemonade, and Carron knocked those out of the park with her homemade lemonade. We had so many guests comment on how delicious the food and the cakes were and how attentive the wait staff were. We felt so taken care of by the entire team and thank Sugar City for such a beautiful wedding!

If you are looking for a team that values your opinion, offers ideas and solutions, thinks of everything and are just the kindest people, Carron and her amazing staff are the catering team for you. Everything was perfect. Sugar City did the food, the flowers, the bar and the cake. Everything was perfect. Even though this team was so incredibly busy, Carron found time to deliver appetizers while we were doing photos. They truly think of everything and care for you. They made my daughter’s dreams and visions all come true. Dallas light and sound made it so beautiful inside and out! The music, the lighting, his voice and how wonderfully things were run just made the whole evening flow perfectly and all had so much fun. I have had so many texts from guests complimenting this amazing group of people. Their kindness and guidance were more than I could have asked for, thank you so much.

She met with us often, answered all my questions (I asked her A LOT of questions since I knew nothing about planning a wedding), and our wedding day was beautiful.
For everything they covered (food, cake, floral, wedding coordinator, multiple meetings, piece of mind, sanity, happy tears) it was for a VERY reasonable price.
Our guests ranted and raved about the food, cake, decorations, and how awesome the staff was. I have people asking if she can make cakes for them. Carron was personable, friendly, and understanding every step of the way. I honestly miss talking to her all the time because the support and care she gives you.
When people say things will go wrong on your wedding day.... it happened to us but Carron put out all the fires and I had NO IDEA about them until days after the wedding! Our wedding was the BEST day ever! I still have people telling me how they enjoyed themselves at our wedding and we got married a little over a month ago. She knows how to get things done, ya'll!! Pick them before they get booked! You won't regret it. Our wedding day would not have been what it was if it wasn't for her and her team!

Carron with Sugar City was absolutely amazing! We hired Sugar City for the catering, wedding cakes, and flowers and everything was perfect. We received so many compliments on the food and the cakes (so delicious, I want to order more cake!) and so many people said how beautiful and romantic the venue looked. Look no further, this is the vender for you!! Sugar city was a dream to work with and we’re so knowledgeable. They did our appetizers, cake, dessert bar and plated dinner and it was BEYOND delicious! There is a lot of love in their food and worth every penny!! They took amazing care of us and they really care about making your special day go smooth! I definitely recommend having one vender doing all of your food and these are the people to do it!! Everything went so smooth and people were raving about the food! I would definitely work with them again and highly recommend!!
Sugar City did a fabulous job for my daughter's wedding. I actually found them on The Knot website and was a little anxious because they were one of our only vendors that was not from a referral. They by far exceeded our expectations with rave reviews from our guests. One couple who attends many weddings even said that it was some of the best wedding food they have ever eaten! Carron is very organized and will not let you down. Once I met her, I would have entrusted all details of the wedding with her. She and her husband were great!

We love Sugar City! My husband and I used Sugar City as our caterer and baker for our wedding. Carron is incredible and was so knowledgeable and flexible as we navigated our pandemic wedding. The food was delicious and our guests said our cinnamon roll favored wedding cake was the best cake they had ever had! We totally recommend you choosing sweet Carron and Sugar City Celebrations for any of your wedding needs!!
My husband and I wanted cakes that would wow our guests and Sugar City did NOT disappoint. We ordered the cinnamon roll and smore's cakes (to go with our fall theme wedding) and the guests loved it so much that my husband and I did not even get a piece of either ourselves at the wedding. Most guests reported they had a piece of each cake. The best part of Sugar City is that when they followed up with me after the wedding and I told them about how wonderful the cake was but that we didn't get a piece, they promptly suggested they make another just for us. The customer services is wonderful, the cakes are amazing, and I'm so glad we chose them to help make our special day that much more special. Thank you Carron for all you did for Zach and me! :)
Carron was great to work with and did a fantastic job on our florals for the wedding. We gave her a winter wedding concept and she nailed it along with keeping with our budget. It was way more than we got from other vendors who quoted us. Additionally she was able to provide our cake that was excellent in look, texture and taste at a more affordable price than other bakeries. Definitely would recommend her to anyone!

What can I say- Sugar City is amazing.
This has got to be the best wedding cake my husband and I have ever had. Carron only uses high-quality, organic ingredients, and REAL BUTTER, and it shows. She even made a tier of my bridal cake taste just like my favorite childhood cake. It was dreamy. Her husband is also one hell of a chef. All of our food was made fresh and hot. We received many gracious comments from our guests about the delicious carving stations and appetizers. Not to mention the scratch made sauces! Sugar City was incredibly attentive and flexible with us throughout the entire process, especially when we had to push our wedding due to Covid 19. These guys do it all and we would recommend to anyone who wants delicious, real food for their wedding.
This company offers such a good deal- complete catering, the most reasonable wedding cake prices I've ever seen, and coordination for decor and table/chairs!! They were saving me from my worst nightmare- DIY for a girl without a creative bone in her body! Tammy was so sweet on our first meeting when I was overwhelmed and clueless. It's apparent they have done lots of weddings and will guide you and cheer you on every step of the way! (Full disclosure- Our wedding was cancelled due to Covid19 so my review includes the 6 months we worked together). I imagine their finished product would be just as awesome as the planning was!
I worked with Carron to plan our dream wedding, and Sugar City provided all the services, catering, cake, and decorations for our event. She and her team were very professional and at the same time very warm and down-to-earth. Carron is also extremely experienced and I am so glad to have been taken care of by someone like her. She went above and beyond with her wedding planning/coordination services, and not a single detail was overlooked. She was very considerate of our budget and was still able to accommodate all our needs and wants. Although Sugar City did nearly everything for us, she also coordinated everything with the venue and helped us contract a lighting/draping provider. Carron completely understood our vision and executed it to perfection. Our guests could not stop talking about how much they enjoyed the food and how beautiful everything was, and I know this would not have been possible without Sugar City. I highly recommend Carron and her team to any future bride in the DFW metroplex, and for any other special events. I also recommend including the planning and day-of-coordination services they provide, our wedding would not have been as perfect without either of these. You will not find a better quality and affordable event services team than Sugar City!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about them! Look no further if you want a group that can do it all flawlessly -- and at a very reasonable price that also supports the mission of a great local nonprofit.
Their elegant affair package is the way to go. They did our gorgeous flowers and decor, catered our dinner that everyone raved about, made our delicious custom-flavored wedding cake, provided servers and bartenders, ceremony and reception coordinators, the chairs, tables, linens and all that.
(Also, you provide the alcohol, which is easy enough to order and have delivered from Spec's and is a real cost-saver.)
What's more, we planned our wedding from a distance , were detail-obsessed, and wanted plenty of personal touches and elements that didn't follow the usual traditional wedding playbook.
Carron and her team made sure we nailed every one of them, worked through every little thing with a smile, and everyone was incredibly responsive over phone and email (and email, and email, and email.)
We've heard from so many of our guests that ours was truly the best wedding they'd ever been to.

Carron, Tammy, Sonja and Walter are a fantastic team to work with. We had our wedding at Texas Discovery Gardens and used them for our wedding planning, food, flowers and cake. My fiance and I fell in love when we visited the venue and then found out that Sugar City was onsite to help with any catering needs if we wanted. What I love the most about Sugar City is that they can do it all (like we had them do) or you can have them do some and choose to bring in other vendors to do the rest. They were by far the most flexible vendor we found while researching our options. What's even better is the affordability of their services. But don't think that their amazing prices in any way compromise the quality you receive. I provided them pictures of everything I wanted and we that simple guidance they were able to create the perfect bouquets and cake. The food was fantastic and I received many compliments from my guests about the entire evening. I was extremely happy with how our wedding turned out and loved working with Carron and the team leading up to our big day. They are responsive, professional and fun to work with during what can be a stressful period. I'm actually sad now that I don't have a planned meeting or set time when I will see them all again!
My husband and I LOVED working with Carron and Tammy. They take care of you as if you’re family, and make sure everything is just as you envisioned. Our wedding was perfect, and we couldn’t have asked for a better time. We had multiple guests tell us how beautiful the gardens were, how delicious the food was, and how much fun they had. Apparently a few fathers told my father-in-law that they hope their daughters’ weddings look like ours. There were absolutely NO hiccups, and it was amazing being able to relax and know that everything was taken care of. All the wedding party had to do was look great and show up, and Carron made the rest happen. You will be guided every step of the way. Great food, amazing price point, perfect wedding.

Sugar City knocked it out of the park with our wedding at the Texas Discovery Gardens on St. Patrick's Day. Carron Short and her team made our wedding perfect, despite a little rain. The team listen to us and delivered. We put alot on her team -- we don't live in Dallas and had to plan our wedding with one face-to-face meeting and several phone calls. Carron worked her magic with food, music and decorations to give us exactly what we wanted. One of the things we both appreciated about Sugar City is their attention to detail. The day of the wedding -- there were little touches that we asked Carron to help us with. Her team also watched over the two of us -- making sure we had enough drink and food at our table and checking in with us. The food and drink they provided to our day was excellent. We had enough for all our guests. When rain came down -- they had several plans to make sure our guests weren't uncomfortable. They know the Texas Discovery Gardens grounds and site. If you decide to go with TDG we highly recommend Sugar City. If you need a caterer and wedding planner who will listen and deliver for you -- go with Sugar City.

We loved everything about our wedding at Texas Discovery Gardens and we are so thankful for Sugar City sweets&celebrations for making our day so beautiful! The rain did not stop us at all! Everything from the food, to the flowers, the cakes, and the decor was BEAUTIFUL thanks to Carron and Tammy. Carron also helped calm down the frazzled bride too (but I'm not gonna name any names) :) Our friends and family are still calling and raving about how beautiful, intimate, and romantic our wedding was. Carron executed our wedding just as we hoped and dreamed! THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!! ♥ If you are considering having your wedding at Texas Discovery Gardens and using Sugar City, I highly recommend them. Carron even scheduled extra meetings with us to make sure that our day went smoothly. She really cares, and it showed in how our day turned out so amazing. We planned to have an outdoor ceremony, but it rained on our wedding day--- but our wedding turned out even better than we planned because Carron was able to move the ceremony inside of the reception space & everything was so beautiful; I cried when I saw it. Carron was so helpful and so caring once it came to our wedding! She wanted us to have the best wedding ever and put so much effort into making our vision for our wedding come true and she made it so easy for us! The food was delicious and I even saw guests and wedding party guests go for seconds! The food was flavorful and perfect! I couldn't be happier with our decision to use Sugar City for our wedding day! The day was perfect and we couldn't have done it without each of them! Also, my favorite part was that Carron was willing to bring over my centerpiece flowers to the nearest nursing home after the wedding! Amazing!
Wow! Some of the sweetest hardest working people we have ever worked with! From the moment I met with SCW I felt like the weight of wedding planning had been taken off our shoulders. They listened to our visions and made it a reality all while sticking exactly to our budget. I looked forward to every meeting with these ladies, they are so fun and easy to work with. They day of was exactly as expected and was so smooth thanks to this wonderful team!
Sugar City was great! I instantly fell in love with the venue and after speaking with Tammy and Carron I knew they would make our wedding day perfect. I was not sure of what I wanted in a wedding and Carron helped me come up with some great ideas. Sugar City coordinated my wedding, did all my flowers, and set up all my decorations. And I had a ton of decorations! I just gave Carron some ideas I had for flowers and she ran with it. The flowers were so beautiful and exactly what I wanted! Everything looked absolutely perfect! On the day of my wedding it was raining and Carron and Sonja came up with some ideas to keep guests busy until the rain stopped and we were able to have the wedding outside and it was beautiful. I loved that Carron customized everything to my needs and budget. I would give her my ideas and budget and she would come back with amazing options for me. I would highly recommend Sugar City Sweets! Everyone is so nice and they really took the stress out of planning our perfect wedding. Even on the day of the wedding while it was pouring rain Carron and Sonja were there to assure me that our wedding was going to be perfect and not to worry about a thing. I did not have to lift a finger on the day of our wedding…. Well only my ring finger. :)
Carron and the entire team at Sugar City Sweets were amazing! All we had to do was show up and say I Do! They handled the set up, decor, food, and even helped plan the timeline for the actual day. We picked the colors and let Carron run with it. We trusted her to make it beautiful and she did. We can't thank them enough.

I had no idea what I wanted in a wedding, except that I wanted a beautiful garden ceremony. We began with a tour from Tammy with Sugar City and I knew Texas Discovery Gardens was the place!
Sugar City set up the venue, provided flowers, decor, and wedding cake.
I had NO idea where to start, but Carron is an amazing event designer! I didn't have a clue on style, colors, decor, or anything. She asked questions to help determine what style I liked. I told her I wanted the cake to be a surprise, so let's start with that.
The Cake - I highly encourage you to look on Facebook for the next Sugar City open house. You MUST try the cake. I tried Carron's cake after going to several other tastings. My search was over! The cake is moist (sorry for using that word), dense (in a good way), and the icing was amazing! Her flavors are out of this world! We chose champagne and creme brulee, but you honestly can't go wrong. I already knew it was going to taste great, but I was so surprised when I saw it! Beau-ti-ful!!! She even incorporated elements of our wedding invitations! It was absolutely stunning and our guests raved about how great it tasted! All of my future birthday cakes will be made by Sugar City!
Flowers - I showed Carron some pictures from Pinterest that appealed to me, but was again surprised when her creations far surpassed what I had in mind! The bouquets were larger than I expected, with a mix of gorgeous flowers and greenery. Seriously like something out of a magazine!
Decor - The colors and style of the tablecloths/napkins/centerpieces tied in flawlessly with the flowers, cake, and bridesmaid dresses. Unfortunately, there was a monsoon on our wedding day, but the Sugar City team did an amazing job of setting up inside for the ceremony. They also quickly flipped the room for the reception while the guests toured the butterfly house! It turned out perfect! This included setup of cake/gift/favor/DJ/caterer tables as well as takedown and cleanup.
The day was crazy and I didn't get to speak to Sonja much, but she also did a great job in making sure everything ran smoothly. I can't thank Sugar City enough for a perfect day! They truly exceeded all expectations. Carron is so genuine and passionate about what she does. A true professional! You cannot go wrong with Sugar City!
I got married on August 15, 2015 at Texas Discovery Gardens and used the on-site planning and catering services of Sugar City Sweets.

Floral arrangements are to die for! Great service
I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t want a wedding—frankly, I thought I would be happy going to a Justice of the Peace and calling it a day. However, my fiancé (officially husband now) wanted the traditional pomp and circumstance of a wedding ceremony—on a relatively small budget. Several hours of looking around on the internet later, he brings a laptop to me, shows me the Texas Discovery Gardens website, and tells me to go get ready so we can go check it out and, like magic, we found our spot, made an appointment with Carron and started down the journey of getting married.
Given that I plan events where I work for a living, this journey appeared to be daunting but, with Carron lending a guiding hand, the process turned out to be simple and thoroughly enjoyable. My husband and I attended two Open Houses at Texas Discovery Gardens in order to taste the food and the cakes and fell in love with the red velvet (both of us) and the white chocolate raspberry (all me). I also didn’t have a clue about “our colors,” flower arrangements etc., which was made easier by viewing the options available for table décor at the Open Houses. I’m a great big lover of blue (we chose the Serene overlays, and I opted for daisies as my favorite flowers), and Carron put together a beautiful set of arrangements, my bouquet, and a sweet trio of cakes that made the whole ceremony feel less like a daunting civic duty, and more like a relaxed afternoon party with my closest family and friends.
In short, Carron, Tammy, and the Sugar City crew made this event for us. I admitted to my husband the evening after the ceremony and reception that, for all of my fussing, the wedding turned out to be just as I would have imagined it and I have these wonderful folks to thank for a lifetime of memories of our day. I heartily recommend Sugar City sweets & celebrations to anyone I come across. Not only is the venue itself beautiful when the gardens are in full bloom, everyone will go above and beyond to make this your perfect day.
Sugar City worked with my daughter and her fiance to plan their wedding and they were able to hold meetings on Sundays to accommodate my daughter's busy schedule. They created lovely floral arrangements in the vibrant colors picked by the bride and did a good job overall.
Marcus and I got married 4/27/2014. We used the venue at Texas Discovery Gardens, got married under the oak trees of the meadow and Sugar City Sweets did everything from the decor to the CAKE (so good the topper didnt make it to one year because we ate it, so she is making us another topper for our anniversary this weekend), to the food snd the PICTURES! They did everything for us, and Carron who you will work directly with is a jewel! She understands a budget and will make sure to stay within it. And you will not find something this beautiful for this price! Also on our wedding day she had little surprises. Things I said I thought were pretty popped up in different places. Our wedding day was perfect! If there were any issues, we never knew about them. Thank you Carron and team at Sugar City Sweets for the best day of our life!!!
I LOVED working with Carron and Tammy at Texas Discovery Gardens. I used Sugar City for the set up of the venue, clean up, and rentals. Carron went above and beyond to make my day beautiful. I didn't have a strong preference on many items and really put my trust into Carron to choose just the right shade of green linen and just the right setup of our ceremony and reception seating. She also ended up coordinating our rehearsal and ceremony, by accident because our ceremony coordinator didn't make it, and what a blessing she was. She was patient with our family and efficient. She was extremely willing to work with us to make everything perfect.

I had my wedding at Texas Discovery Gardens in Fair Park, Summer 2012. I used Sugar City Sweets as my wedding florist, cake designer, and wedding coordination. Under my cost, I chose "Not Applicable" because I did use her for more than just wedding coordination, but she is affordable a la carte.
I was a proud budget bride. I was so thankful to have found Carron Short and her team at Sugar City Sweets. She is the in house coordination/everything aforementioned above for Texas Discovery Gardens.
Our preacher was in charge of the wedding ceremony, and Carron and her team were in charge of the cocktail hour and wedding reception. I couldn't have been happier with her and her team. My husband and I felt so special; several times during the night, she would ask how each one of us was doing, if she could get us anything, etc. Made our night stress free!
We had planned for 150 guests to attend, and somehow almost 200 showed up. Without hesitation, Carron and her team pulled our tables, chairs, and table cloths for our guests to use. We were charged for the extra (tables and chairs rented through them are much cheaper than I have seen at TLC or Ducky Bob's!), however my husbands grandfather took care of the bill.
My family and friends had a wonderful night, my husband and I had an unforgettable time, and that wouldn't have been achieved without Carron Short and her team at Sugar City Sweets!
