sband and I had literally had five cake tastings before coming across Sugar Lane. Upon seeing her website and her incredible cake flavors, I knew Sugar Lane was the one for us! Not only does she offer super cool and different cake flavors, her cake designs are equally as cool and beautiful. We were able to pick up our tasting from Ashley, as she did not have an appointment available, but it was actually so much fun to be able to taste all the cake flavors with my husband and maid of honor. We ended up going to our venue and doing the tasting there! Her cake flavors blew us away. It was immediately apparent that her cakes are totally made from scratch and use super high quality ingredients. My husband and I each were able to select a combination of flavors. He picked chocolate cake with marshmallow buttercream and mint dark chocolate ganache, and I picked rosé cake with blood orange buttercream, honey buttercream, and blueberry filling. I also had a long phone call with Ashley where we went over exactly what I wanted in my cake with respect to the design and flavors. We ended up going with beautiful hand-painted buttercream with gold flecks. Our cake was gorgeous, absolutely delicious and we can’t wait until our first anniversary so we can order a mini cake from Ashley to enjoy! We highly recommend Sugar Lane!

From our tasting to the wedding day we couldn't have been more excited to work with her. She is so sweet and personable. Ashley really took the time to research an item for me that I wanted to add last minute too. She went above and beyond from start to finish.
The immediate thought I had when I saw our cake on our wedding day was WOW! Ashley took our cake inspiration and turned it into a dream. Our cake was hand painted with an array of moody reds and fresh flowers to tie it together. I wish i could attach a photo here for everyone to see!
Our cake was more than anything I could have imagined and it tasted SO good. We got two flavors from her and highly recommend stepping out into the fun flavor world like we did. We did graham cracker cake with banana, salted caramel, and cinnamon marshmallow. AND we did chocolate cake, cookies and cream, and marshmallow buttercream. Our cake was so flavorful and moist! I had a piece of both the night of the wedding. I cannot wait to get it again for our first anniversary and other future events.

EVERYTHING she makes is out of this world and it is hard to choose a favorite. I love that she pays attention to little details, uses really high quality ingredients and you can see she really takes pride in what she makes. It was important to me that our cake looked pretty but also actually tasted good. Our cake was devoured at our wedding with not one piece leftover, and I got many comments from guests saying how good it was and asking who made it. On the cake we had plenty of fresh figs, blackberries, and greenery to match my decor. It was stunning. I would recommend her to anyone, you wont be disappointed!

out my wedding planning process. There was a situation in which we were not receiving each other’s emails and I began to get frustrated. She apologized for the situation despite it being out of her hands and offered to provide the figs and blackberries we had requested free of charge, which I felt was very generous. However, when I looked at the cake on my wedding day it had less than a handful of blackberries and I’m pretty sure just a single fig that was cut in half, so I would have been writing a very different review had I paid $30 for a single fig! I’d recommend asking for specifics on what you’re getting if you are unsure.
That being said, I found the cake to be super pretty and it tasted great. I normally wouldn’t pay what I did for a cake but for a special occasion like a wedding it really makes for a great decorative element!

We received multiple compliments from our guests that it was the best wedding cake they have ever had (even better than the cake at their own weddings). Ashley will not disappointed! She was wonderful. She even helped us find our wedding coordinator when I was in a complete panic about getting everything done on time! She is incredibly reasonable, thoughtful, and wildly talented. We got this adorable 3 tier cake, but used sheet cakes to serve all of our guests. I walked into the reception and almost cried at how gorgeous and personal it was. It was covered in flowers, with this freehanded navy blue water color, and gold specks. Tears.

Not only did the cake look great, it tasted amazing too. We had 3 different flavours. Champagne cake with maple and honey buttercream, chocolate cake with cookies & cream and chocolate buttercream and a victorian sponge cake (white cake with fresh strawberries and strawberry filling.) Which wasn't in her menu but she made it for us when we requested it. Ashley also made 6 gluten free cupcakes for the cake table.

My bridal shower was last weekend and she created a gorgeous pink ombré two tiered cake with fresh raspberry and chocolate filling, plus a few vegan, gluten free cupcakes to accommodate guests with food allergies. She even provided an elegant cake stand, plus a cute cake topper. Everything was delicious and my friends and family cannot stop raving about it. This makes us even more excited for our wedding cake!!
Finding Ashley was one of the highlights of our wedding planning process and I will absolutely work with her every time we need a cake for a big event!
I would also say that it sometimes takes her a little time to respond to emails because she spends her days baking and prepping for weddings. So for nervous brides to be who prefer same-day responses, do not worry, you are in great hands!

ith NO fondant and AMAZING sugar flowers I immediately sent an email to set up a tasting. My husband didn’t even want to go because he doesn’t eat cake(until we met Ashley) - more of a muffin and cookie guy. He told me to pick whatever I wanted and he’d be ok with it. Let me tell you, we went together and he ate almost everything! He said we are booking with her now and we did. He picked almost all the flavors too :) We loved how she had different flavors and it wasn’t the typical chocolate and vanilla bakery cake. Our cake tasting was so much fun - so many new, innovative, exciting flavors to pick from. Everything tasted fresh and clean, nothing tasted overly sweet or fake sugar-y. You could really taste the quality of her ingredients which was huge for us since we love great cakes an know that not every bakery uses the best, quality, fresh ingredients. The cake, filling, and icing options were so fun and creative - she pairs together the most perfect combinations, the cake is so outstanding. Everyone loved our cake and still talks about it. d expected to do many more tastings after. However, her cakes and frostings were sooooo good. The next tasting we did sealed the deal and we knew that we must use Sugar Lane. Ashley was exceptionally accommodating , my "wife" (so weird writing that) and I have completely different tastes, Ashley allowed us to choose two flavors each and 2 of the 4 tiers would be my wife's flavors and 2 would be mine. Other Cake shops were not willing to do that. Have I mentioned the cake tasted amazing and looked amazing as well. We went with a 4 tier, ruffled buttercream cake, with 2 tiers filled with pistachio and raspberry, 2 tiers with cookies and cream and chocolate ganache(clearly my tiers). Everyone at the wedding was complimenting us, not only on the design and appearance of the cake but also the taste. Simply and elegantly amazing, I will recommend Ashley and Sugar Lane to anyone who asks and probably those who don't ask as well.
