We had to call and email multiple times to confirm that Sugar Mama was even going to be our cake vendor as they seemed unable or unwilling to communicate with us. Once they finally said they would do our cake, they did not provide a contract, which we asked for. Then we were told there were per mile delivery fees in addition to the flat rate delivery fee quoted to us at the consultation. Reluctantly we agreed to the additional delivery fees. Four months later we were trying to confirm that everything was on track. When I reached out to them they asked again for a picture and description of the cake we wanted. This was less than two weeks prior to the date of the wedding and we had already provided them with that information. When we sent them a picture and description on our copy of the order form they provided at the consultation they replied they would get back to us with an updated price point. At that point we didn’t even want to use them but it was too close to the date to find another bakery and of course we had paid a non refundable deposit. The cake they delivered was crooked, amateurish, and on the dry side. It wasn’t terrible but definitely didn’t taste like the cupcakes at the consultation nor did it look the way we wanted it to. The cake wasn’t great, but the worst part of working with them was the lack of communication.

livery. From our conversation, it made it seem like delivery was included, but really it was a $50 charge. Which would have been fine if they were up front about the cost. Our other issue and main reason why we were extremely disappointed with our experience is because the design on our cake looked sloppy and they provided us with the incorrect cake flavor. We asked for lemon blueberry and received lemon. We had lemon blueberry cupcakes for our guests and those were made correctly, so we knew what it was supposed to taste like. I called Sugar Mama a month ago to kindly tell them about the cake flavor mistake so other wedding couples wouldn’t have the same disappointment that we did. I was told a manager was going to contact me, but I never heard anything. Sugar Mama does makes delicious cupcakes. I would suggest visiting them in Uptown to get a cupcake or maybe a dozen for a small birthday party, but not for a major event.

Sugar Mama Bakery had everything we needed, from cakes to cookies, to bars! Highly recommend for all dessert needs!
