They were amazing! Our wedding cake was perfection and tasted amazing. They also were kind enough to create a birthday cupcake for my uncle who was celebrating his birthday on my wedding day. They were so kind and professional and also delivered our cake to reception hall, which really helped us out. I highly recommend for your next event! Ask for Chris, he’s the person who helped us the entire time and is truly awesome!
Don’t go here or waste your time! The not only claimed they lost my cake topper but she ended up putting it on another brides cake! When I called and talked to her she acted like I was in the wrong and didn’t bring the cake topper in. Which I did of course with my last name on it. She offered to refunded me for the cake topper, which we had custom made. When i told them I’d leave a bad review she threaten to sue me! My mom called also and she told her the same stuff but yelled at her and also threaten to sue her . They still haven’t refunded us. When we called back claimed they didn’t have our address, it’s on the contact and it was on the envelope we sent them the receipt in. They can also do what they want to your cake without even telling you about it. My top layer was supposed to be white and they made it teal, don’t bother bringing them a design cause they don’t tell you if they change anything, you find out when you see the cake. I am highly upset that I can’t ever get those pictures of my cake with the topper back. You’d think for a wedding they’d want to make sure everything for the bride and groom they put out was perfect but they don’t care. $400 cake and the owners attitude is horrible. Stay away!!!
TERRIBLE customer service. Spoke to a gentleman about ordering a cake. As I am living out of town, he instructed me to send an email to them with all of the wedding information as well as photos of any wedding cakes that I like. I immediately sent over said email. 6 days later, no response. I sent a follow up email. 6 additional days later, still no response. I attempted to call the store, no answer. STAY AWAY.
We had Sugar Showcase make us a small top tier cake and 100 cupcakes. They all came out beautiful and the colors were just as expected and as described.
Well I have spoke with a gentleman two times since my wedding. He said if I have to leave a negative review then that's what I'll have to do. I guess instead of making the situation right it's better to get a bad reviewWe met with the owner the first time about our cake and the last time we met with him. We were there for an hour and a half discussing our cake. We went over every detail of the cake. We seemed to have a great understanding at the meeting. I specifically said I wanted flat colored flowers ( make sure you use the right terminology it will be used against you in the end) proper term matte ) he will even spell it out for you. I apologized saying this is not my occupation so I apologize for not using the proper term. As his job with any if you don't understand what I'm saying then ask questions until you do. I work in the medical field and can use terminology that people understand . Clearly though he knew what I was saying because he knew the bakery term for it. I specifically said I didn't want irredecent flowers, I wanted them to be a flat color. We went over this and he knew that's not what I wanted. I felt great about our conversation until I walked into my venue. The cake was absolutely not what I wanted !! The colors of the flowers weren't what we discussed
( I wanted eggplant and berry tones- the berry tone they did looked like an Easter pink) , the birch wrap was not what I had seen on previous cakes it looked washed out , and the seam of the wrap was on the front of the cake?? I would think they would put that towards the back, there is a distinct front and back to the cake. I called right then and there in my wedding gown! I was told the baker was not in and they would give me a call on Monday( which I spoke to him) Monday came and it was around 10:30-11:00 I was wondering why I didn't get a call yet. I was told the baker wasn't in yet and I would receive a call back.I did get a call back I was told the colors I chose had to be pearlized but no extra spray was added. Well you didn't have to add extra spray , you could see it from a mile away. In my opinion if you knew that those colors had to be pearlized ( don't use the term irredecent) then why wouldn't they tell me at our hour and a half meeting? How many years of experience and baking / decorating they didn't know those colors had to be pearlized? They advised me that's the wrap they always use but I had the same venue and same photographer and the cake looks totally different. I asked why the seam of the wrap was on the front and that wasn't addressed. I asked to speak to the baker who made my cake , he said he was the baker which previously I had spoke to him and his words were that the baker wasn't in. So again proper terminology the decorator wasn't in who I did not get to speak with either. He was very rude this time , I did call and discuss this twice with him. When you spend hundreds of dollars on a cake and it's not what you had discussed or envisioned my heart just sunk when I saw it. Instead of making the customer feel like they have been treated fairly I was told to go ahead and leave a negative review. It's just diasappointing a small business that has been around forever doesn't want to treat you fairly or make things right. I have now heard several complaints about them recently. We had already committed to them for the wedding cake but I will never go there again. I was hoping to have a different experience but all of the complaints were valid.
The women we spoke with was rude from the start. We explained that we wanted a smaller cake for our wedding because we were having a cookie table with cookies and cupcakes as well as a fruit table. Without missing a beat she said she will not make our cake, and threw our order form away. I couldn't believe that that had just happened and had no idea what to say. She then explained that she will not decorate a wedding cake for a reception with other cake there. The cookies and cupcakes were going to be made by our friends and family like any other Youngstown wedding I've ever been to. Maybe I could understand where she was coming from if she wasn't so rude about it. It was like after that she just wanted us to leave. I will never go back, nor recommend to anyone. There is no reason to treat potential customers with such disrespect and arrogance. Had she explained in a friendly manner, we would have booked with her. That was just appalling.
The cake was delicious and stunning! They followed our specific instructions very well. We are so pleased with our choice.
I highly recommend Sugar Showcase. I was an out of town bride and they were great to work with during the planning process. They were helpful and responsive when answering my questions on the phone and they were also very accommodating with scheduling in-person meetings to discuss details when I was in town.
Cheryl is a very kind, nice person. During my consultation with her, she listened to my ideas and immediately sketched a cake design that was better than I could have imagined. In person, the cake was beautiful and incredibly detailed. She made the sugar flower accents by hand and matched the colors to my real wedding flowers.
However, for me, the most important factor was how the cake tasted. And Sugar Showcase cakes are the best! Cheryl had a very extensive flavor listing and some really unique combinations. She also uses buttercream icing instead of fondant, which was really important to me. Cheryl let my husband and I take home samples to try after our consultation and they were all amazing! It was so hard to just choose 2 flavors for our cake. The cake for our wedding was delicious and we got a lot of compliments from family and guests.
I picked Sugar Showcase because I I prefer buttercream over fondant. The lady was very nice and delivered exactly what I asked for! The samples were a TON larger than I expected and it was so hard to make a decision because everything tasted so good! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
This cake was AMAZING! I knew from the design we had chosen that it was going to be awesome but seeing it in person- it was just breathtaking! It had beautiful draping, grapes, and they even used our small wine bottles dressed in a tux and wedding dress for our topper. It was so hard to believe it was all butter cream and not fondant!
So many flavor options! -- And all I tried were delicious. They have great designs and suggestions, and we got many compliments on the taste.
The wedding cake prepared for us by Sugar Showcase was absolutely beautiful and exactly what we had in mind! The two most important things were, though, that our cake tasted FABULOUS and it was very affordable! I was so, so pleased with the fair prices at Sugar Showcase and they certainly can do whatever you want visually-- we kept ours pretty simple by choice, and loved the final product. We would definitely recommend Sugar Showcase, I just wish there had been leftovers so we could eat more but the delicious cake was too popular!
I worked with Chris and she gave me EXACTLY what I wanted! The cake was beautiful! I couldn't have asked for anything more! The list of delicious flavors made it hard to choose! I wanted one of each! PLENTY of cake left over! I can't wait for our 1 year anniversary to try the top layer!
I was very specific in the cake style I wanted and the colors, so I brought in pictures I had printed from Pinterest and had several meetings with the owner about my vision. I knew they would do a good job b/c they're well known in the area, but I had no idea it would turn out THAT good! The cake blew me away when I first saw it!! It was absolutely perfect. They nailed the colors, the Chevron design was spot on, they actually created the flowers to mirror my bouquets and the details were fabulous! Not to mention, it was delicious. I had many people comment on how good it was. What a stunning Shabby Chic wedding cake!! I can't thank them enough :)
We loved our wedding cake, from the beautiful, unique design to the delicious flavors we chose! I didn't want an over-the-top or crazy cake, I wanted a simple, elegant cake that was obviously a "wedding" cake! That is exactly what we got and it was absolutely delicious as well!
The owner was a little rude at first, and at intermintant time points through the planning. However the cake helped offset that. The cake was absolutely amazing! It was beautifully decorated as well. The owner also was very honest about what we truly needed as far as size and told us that buying a cake stand would probably be cheaper than renting from her. The testing cakes were mini cakes, and we were able to choose 6. This little shop was a great value as well.
I met with them twice, and they did exactly want I wanted. Their cake tastes amazing, we went with rasberry swirl and everyone loved it.

Sugar Showcase listened to our ideas and worked with us to create a beautiful cake. Our cake topper was Precious Moments that is a bride and groom in a old fashion car. Sugar Showcase did a taste test when we designed our cake and unlike other bakeries, they let us take large samples home so would could have our parents taste it also. I just wish I would have had more time at the wedding to eat more of it!! We wanted a four layer cake,we got to have every layer a differnt flavor. On the wedding day we were so happy with how the cake came out! Overall, Sugar Showcase had better prices, better tasting cake, more creativity, and very nice staff. We are very happy we chose them to make our wedding cake!!...

Other cake vendors wouldn't even give ideas, they kept asking, "what do you want?", but Sugar Showcase listened to our ideas and worked with us to create a beautiful cake. Our cake topper was Jack and Sally from Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. We wanted a two layer cake, one matching the topper and one more classic. On the wedding day I was in awe at how beautifully the cake came out!
Overall, Sugar Showcase had better prices, better tasting cake, more creativity, and very nice staff. We are very happy we chose them to make our wedding cake!
Sugar Showcase did a GREAT job for our wedding!! They knew excatly what we wanted when we went in to design our cake. We wanted a somewhat old fashion cake and they did it with no problem. Our big concern was having buttercream icing. Although other places said that they could do buttercream, no other place was very confident about it. Sugar Showcase was very confident about doing buttercream and they obviously should be. They knew exactly what kind of designs, flavors and fillings would look best with buttercream!!
The night of our wedding, the cake looked amazing! It turned out exactly how we thought it would and was exactly what we wanted. We had a really specific image in our heads about what we wanted our cake to look like and they could not have done a better job making the cake perfect. Although we knew exactly what we wanted our cake to look like, I am confident that they would make a fantastic looking cake with much less direct. They really understood the feel of our wedding.

Also, the pricing was great. We priced around at a lot of places before we picked Sugar Showcase. They were not the cheapest place that we saw but they were definatly in the middle and had much better service and better options than what we found at the cheaper places.
Sugar Showcase saw my vision and delivered the most beautiful and delicious cake. When I arrived to the venue, my eyes focused right on the cake. The colors were so vibrant, with leaves, pumpkins, and curly willow. They designed my cake beyond my expectations. And the most important part is taste right? And they got an A+! The cake was full of flavor and so moist! The rest of the night my friends and family kept complementing the cake and asking where it was from. I totally recommend this bakery. They care about their finishing product!
Sugar Showcase helped to design our wedding cake and keep it in our budget. When I saw our cake at the reception for the first time, I was very happy with it. It actually surpassed my expectations. I am currently planning a baby shower for my sister-in-law and I knew right away that I wanted to get the cake and favors from Sugar Showcase. It is nice to be able to put your trust in a company and know that you will not be disappointed.
We visited many cake shops in the area before deciding on Sugar Showcase as our perfect choice. I already knew exactly how I wanted the cake to look (I had a picture of my dream cake) and they were able to reproduce it for me exactly how I wanted it and it actually looked better than my original picture. They provided us with may sample cakes to try so that we could get the perfect flavor. We chose the Blueberry and Lemon Swirled Flavor with the Butter Cream Frosting. Everyone absolutely loved how beautiful the cake appearance was and were completely floored that it was so moist and mouthwatering. It was nothing like a wedding cake normally tastes. It was so delicious that we did not have any cake left over at the end of the night. Also considering I married into a Big Italian Family and we also had a 28 foot cookie table with over 100 dozen cookies... That is something to be said about how amazing the cake was... I would absolutely recommend Sugar Showcase to anyone who is looking for a cake for their wedding or any occasion. They will be my cake supplier of choice for all of our special occasions.
We just loved our cake they made for us!!! The cake was what I wanted to a tee!!! The very funny thing is that everyone wanted to know if there was a sheet cake in the back, they thought it was fake! Thats how perfect it was!!! Sugar Showcase also made cookie favors that was a huge hit!!! I will send any future bride to them in a second!!!
Sugar Showcase exceeded our expectations with our wedding cake. The first time we saw it was when we walked over to cut it and my mouth dropped at how beautiful it was. We had so many compliments on the appearance and the amazing taste of it!
One thing I love about Sugar Showcase is that when they use their buttercream frosting (which is amazing, by the way) they have perfected it so that you can't even tell the difference between that and fondant. The cake was so smooth and beautiful!
We will recommend them to any of our friends/family that are looking for a cake! We can't wait to eat our top layer on our 1st anniversary!

They really made my day special. They took the time to listen to what I wanted for my wedding. The cake that I got was so awesome. My husband and I had to take another bite from the cake it was that good. Everyone at my wedding liked that they got to take the cake home with them. They each got they own cake. It was really nice.

The bakery smells like heaven as soon as you walk in and everyone is so kind and experienced. Everyone at the wedding raved about the cake. Completely pleased with The Sugar Showcase in all aspects of customer service and final product! The staff members were very pleasant to work with and extremely helpful. They really took the time to sit down with us (on several occassions) to sketch out different designs for the cake until we were completely happy. I can honestly say that I would, without a doubt, highly recommend them to anyone for their wedding needs!!
Sugar showcase was very helpful during the entire process. At the end of the first meeting I was able to take home four samples and then request 4 additional samples next time I meet with them to go over some additional details. It was great to get a chance to sample several different delicious flavors. I also liked being able to look through previous designs since I wasn't a 100% sure what I wanted. In addition to my beautiful 5 tier hexagonal wedding cake I ordered a surprise anniversary cake for my parents to be delivered with my wedding cake and to resemble their wedding cake from 34 years ago. Overall my experience was wonderful and I would recommend their services time and time again. Their prices ares reasonable and they are family owned and take pride in their work!!!
we went to sugar showcase for our scheduled appointment and the person there wanted nothing to do with us. she cut us off while we were discussing prices and basically told me that i couldn't do what i wanted to do. yuck.
We got our wedding cake from Sugar Showcase, and couldn't be happier. The people that work here are so friendly, and spent alot of time with us, even from the first time that we walked into their store. Even though it was it busy, and I had no idea what I wanted, they took the time to help me find what I wanted. I found a picture of a cake that I really liked in one of their books, and they were able to use fresh flowers similar to what was in my bridal bouquet to put on each layer of our cake. They have a HUGE variety of flavors to choose from, and we got to order 6 small sample cakes to take home to taste. We ended up ordering Chocolate Cherry for 2 layers of our cake, and White Almond Raspberry Swirl for the other 2 layers. They were both a big hit! We had 300 people at our wedding reception, so originally I thought we would have to order a small cake, and then get a sheet cake. But the cost at Sugar Showcase was very reasonable, so we were able to order a 4 tiered cake, which is what I really wanted. The experience at Sugar Showcase was wonderful, and I would definitely recommend this store to all!!
My wedding cake was absolutely gorgeous and delicious. I received so many compliments on the look and the taste and the price was reasonable. My wedding was three years ago and since then I have recommended numerous people and will continue to do so.
sugar showcase did an amazing job on my wedding cake! it looked amazing and tasted just as great! i received compliments from everyone at my wedding on the cake! i would choose them again and again. the price was not to bad either, we spent $600 on the four teared all gourmet flavored cake and it was worth every penny! we had the chocolate chocolate chip which was sweat and delicious, the cookies and cream which was a hit with the kids as well as the adults and the blueberry lemon which was nothing but refreshing and the flavor that went the quickest and received the most compliments on! she also helped us pick out our cake topper and she even ordered it for us! we loved everything about our cake and experience!
We got our wedding cake from Sugar Showcase. They had a very extensive book if you don't know exactly what you want the cake to look like, and that's how we picked ours. They give you a couple of small cakes to taste, and they gave us two extra since we were from out of town and wouldn't be able to pick up any more after we put down the deposit. The cake flavors were outstanding, they have a very interesting flavor called "cream" (a mix of yellow and white cake), that sounds so simple but was my husband's and my father's absolute favorite. They also worked with us on delivery times when we had an issue. The cake came out beautiful.
They had a session with us to pick out the cake style and color, and were very precise in the details. They also offered us several cake samples so we could choose a flavor. The cake looked amazing and the service was above average. The only drawback is that I would have been interested in some organic/natural flavor options, but I don't know if any bakeries in the area offer that.
This cake was amazing!! It tasted excellent and it was GORGEOUS!! I got so many compliments on the cake- no one had ever seen anything so pretty!
They don't use much fondant on their cakes because they can make their buttercream have that smooth finish of fondant. I loved this because it made it much cheaper and it also tastes better. It looked great! They used fresh cascading red roses down the front of the cake with a small fondant ribbon around the bottom of each tier. It was absolutely gorgeous! I can't say enough how much I loved it!
The shop is really small and the girls that work there/own it are not overly professional, but they were very helpful. I was going to get sheet cakes because I had a lot of guests and figured it would be cheaper than paying per slice on the actually wedding cake, but she informed me that it was actually not cheaper and would look better on the wedding cake if it was bigger. Very helpful.

The cake was unique and stunning! They also did a great job on my invitations and favors. Our favors were carmel apples. They were the talked about for weeks after! Yummy and inexpensive!
She re-created a cake for thousands of dollars cheaper from a picture in a magazine. I loved our cake and wish I could have only had the time to eat more of it at the reception! I am looking forward to cutting the top on our one year anniversary.
