I found Sugarcane online when I was researching somewhere to go and was impressed by Tara's good reviews and experience. I have to admit I was pretty nervous about going somewhere new for alterations on my wedding dress because I've had alterations done in the past that I wasn't thrilled about. But I am so glad I went here! My dress was off the shoulders and had a really intricate crochet-lace detail. On top of that, I was losing weight pretty quickly before the wedding and my shape was changing.. I knew the fit had to be really good so my dress would not fall down, but I also wanted it to have a comfortable/looser feel because of the boho nature of my design. Tara was so creative in helping me to achieve this! She really listened to my concerns and worked with me step-by-step to create the exact, end result I was looking for! I could tell it was an easy and natural process for her. She also just has a really warm and great personality. After my experience with her, I wouldn't consider going anywhere else for any sewing needs I have in the future. I can't recommend her enough!

s. I felt confident turning the gown over to her, and also appreciated her simplicity/directness with her pricing. After a surprisingly challenging dress search, I ended up finding a sample gown that I liked. As a petite bride, I required a lot hemmed off the bottom, and then the gown needed to come in along the sides as well...which in turn meant moving the delicate "illusion" sleeves to keep the line of the dress...Tara expertly handled it all! I even got in touch with her after leaving a fitting, looking further at the progress pictures taken, and feeling like there was too much poof to the dress after the hem had been taken up -- no problem! The further adjustments were made happily. Tara's assistance went beyond my gown. I had thought my mom's veil mostly unusable given the discoloration of the lace, but Tara told me about a special wash for antique materials--and it worked! I was able to wear my mom's veil, which saved me money, and of course, was so special for both me and my mom. In Tara, you will find expertise and professionalism, AND a fun attitude. She's quality in many regards!

Her prices are very reasonable! I drove all the way from the Charlotte area of North Carolina all the way to Asheville, NC for her to do the work on my dress. Who doesn't love to visit Asheville anyways, just gave me a reason to go! It was the best decision I made. She altered my dress and you can't even tell it had work done. I would recommend her to anyone needing their wedding dress altered or any other clothing, because she does that was well! Definitely look into her if you are looking for alterations!!

and mine will be this spring. Reading some of the amazing reviews on TheKnot.com, I decided to make the several hour trek to take my dress to Tara for the alterations. I was rather nervous, as I'm trusting someone to take scissors to a irreplaceable family wedding dress! As soon as I met Tara she put me at ease. Her calm, professional attitude, and her obvious comfort and expert knowledge of the fabrics, construction and possibilities of the dress was evident immediately. My mother, future mother-in-law and another one of my aunts accompanied me for my first appointment. There were so many ideas and thoughts flying around the room, it was dizzying! Tara handling it all with superb ease, listening to every idea and suggestion, and thoroughly explaining her ideas for the alterations, complete with pictures of previous dresses she'd worked on. I felt very confident leaving my dress in her capable hands. Her communication before and during the alterations process was wonderful, and she knew just how to help a nervous bride. When I returned three weeks later, she had my dress 90% done! With a few last minute alterations to fit my body, I was able to walk out with my dress. She removed the full length sleeves and made cap sleeves, repaired the bustle and her most impressive feat, created a keyhole back to allow room for my shoulders. It looks wonderful! To look at the dress you would swear it was originally designed this way. Tara is completely amazing; I would highly recommend her to anyone!!

Now, Tara has her own store and caters to her hometown folk her in Asheville,NC N - Notice: Nothing escapes a design by Tara. Tara did a remake of one of my old dresses. It did not resemble what I bought (thankgoodness). She turned a 'potato sack' mid calf length dress into a funky tunic top with added material for design and color. Every time I wear it people ask "Where did you Buy your top". Like I say: 5 Stars

than my mother's dress. Tara had a huge challenge of combining a vintage ivory satin gown with my wholesale bright white ball gown. I also wanted to use my mom's original veil. Tara was so helpful when figuring out how to possibly make these two dresses work together, much less look stunning and unique! With only a 4 month engagement, we also had to work quickly. Tara never made us feel like we were asking two much of her! She tackled the job and applied her immense creative skills to construct a dress that was truly unique and fabulous. I know I asked her to do extremely difficult alterations (making a low cut back out of a boned corset strapless bodice) and she delivered above expectation. And beyond that, her rates were more than reasonable. With my extremely tight budget, I truly can't thank her enough for making my dream dress within financial reach for my wedding. You won't have any regrets if you choose Tara.
