Tara and her team at Sugarcane Studios did an absolutely amazing job altering my wedding gown! My dress was a ballgown will intricate lace and multiple layers. The skirt of my dress needed to be hemmed, the shoulder straps needed to be shortened, the bust needed to be taken in, and we needed to add a bustle. Tara and her team took care of everything perfectly, and I received so many compliments on my beautiful gown on my wedding day! My guests and I loved visiting the studio for my fittings, and Tara was very detail-oriented, making sure everything fit just right. She took the time to teach us how to bustle the dress and recommended that we take a video (which ended up being super helpful for the day of the wedding!). Scheduling was super easy, and they were even able to accommodate a last minute switch in appointment times for one fitting due to inclement weather.

Tara and her whole crew were nothing but phenomenal for my experience! I was a Covid bride who had a baby before my big day! I had to extend my dress by adding a corset - to say I was nervous would be an understatement. Tara added the perfect touches and took such great care of my dress and turned it to perfection!! She also added simple hearts for my mother and grandmother and my elopement date. She made a special tie for my father! And used my mothers old wedding dress and made her an hanky! Everything was exceptional!! I am 100% going to use them again!

My maid of honor went here for her wedding dress and referred me because she had such a great experience. Anyone needing any tailoring in the Asheville area must take thier items here!! The whole experience was amazing- they made me feel comfortable and confident in my dress and adjusted it in all the right places. I had a very long and difficult train as it was all tulle, they were able to bustle my dress exactly like I had imagined to keep the shape line the same- bustled or not. My mother even took her wedding dress here for them to make it into a getting ready robe for me on my big day. I was so special and they did such a good job maintaining the style of my moms dress and converting it into a robe. Everything they have done for me has been above and beyond. I could not recommend them enough!!

Last year Sugarcane studies SAVED MY WEDDING! my first dress was ruined by another tailor, so we had another dress rushed shipped and they tailored it 4 days before my wedding! I don’t know what I would have done without them! Anytime I’m in the area and need something done, I will go to them! Thank you so much for saving my day!

I had an EXCELLENT experience at Sugarcane Studios. I needed to have a jacket altered, and unfortunately I left things until 2 weeks before my friend’s wedding. They were able to schedule me for a fitting with Tara, do the alterations, and have me come back to be sure everything was done properly. The jacket looked marvelous and I was very comfortable wearing it. It’s amazing what custom tailoring does for your confidence!

I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! My experience with Tara and her team has been incredible. Tara has years of experience and is incredibly talented. She is so incredibly kind and listens so well. She made me feel like a friend and not just another bride. I could tell the pride that her entire team takes in their work. The place that was supposed to do the alterations informed me when I arrived at my appointment that they could no longer do my alterations due to the tailor having COVID. I called Sugarcane Studios in absolutely desperation with just a month till my wedding and they have been absolutely wonderful! They were able to fit me in the schedule and make it work! Tara is wonderful, I appreciate her detailed eye and her love of perfection. I never knew a tailored fit could make all the difference, but it truly does. I adore my wedding dress even more now! My wedding dress has extra sentimental meaning to me, as it was passed down from my grandmother, to my mother, and now to me. I wanted to keep the overall shape and design, yet modernize it and still make it my own. Tara and her team did exactly that. They physically created the most accurate vision of what I had in mind. The whole team is beyond kind and amazing to get to know. I highly suggest going to Sugarcane Studios if want more out of your dress fitting or alterations.

I had the pleasure of working with Tara and the team at sugarcane studios November 2020-January 2021 in advance of my wedding. My dress is a very minimal, crepe silk dress with little room for mistakes during the alteration process. It was also ordered a bit on the small side, which made me quite anxious initially as it didn’t look at all how I remembered when trying it on in the bridal store. It took 3 appointments to get right, but in the end it’s perfect! Throughout the process, I felt in great hands with Tara, and I want to give a special shout-out to Jo who made a suggestion for an alteration that ended up fixing the biggest problem area. Tara and her team were also super helpful and sweet about including my mom via FaceTime because of covid. I’m only living in Asheville temporarily but if I was here long term, I would definitely return for alterations and would 100% recommend sugarcane studio to all my friends and family!

Cannot recommend Sugarcane Studios enough! Tara and the rest of the staff are incredibly sweet - Tara talked me through all of the different alterations options and possibilities, and I never felt rushed. She also helped me FaceTime my mom during my final fitting, took photos so that I could send them to my friends, and just made the whole process special and fun. BUT what stands out is the incredible job they did on my dress. It fit like a glove when they were done with it. I have a large bust and small waist, and I have never worn a strapless garment until my wedding day. The dress stayed up all night, through dancing, running around outside for the photographer, eating a giant plate of food and a giant piece of cake - everything. I originally planned on taping my boobs, but the boning they added to the dress made it unnecessary. So thankful to Sugarcane!

I took three dresses to Sugarcane studios and picked them up today. They were perfect. Better than I imagined. And in the middle of a pandemic, they were super professional and practiced all safety guidelines. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to others! Great job!

Tara was awesome and really listened to what I wanted. Even after everything was shut down with the pandemic; she made sure to get me in with plenty of time for my July 4th wedding as soon as they were able to open. I would definitely recommend Sugarcane Studios for any bridal alterations!

Tara is amazing. My dress was a size too small and I was super stressed over it. She eased my anxiety and assured me she could get it to fit. I also had major alterations done (full sleeves added) and the finished dress looks as if it was purchased that way. I couldn’t be happier and I would recommend her until I’m blue. AMAZING. Tara took away every concern I had immediately. She is so talented at what she does and so pleasant to work with. She is professional and quick to respond. My dress was the most extravagant thing I’ve ever splurged on for myself and I was so nervous about the process to alter it to my body. I am so glad I went with my bridal salon’s recommendation to use Tara for alterations, despite her being two hours outside of where I live. Her expertise was well worth the commute for each appointment! I had sleeves added and they were not only gorgeous, but looked as though they had always been a part of the gown, they were so seamless. She also helped my sister with correcting some issues her bridal salon’s seamstress had made with our mother’s veil that she wore for her wedding (we got married six weeks apart from each other), and even created a new modesty panel for her on the fly and arranged for it to be ready in time for her wedding after her dissatisfaction with the one that came with the dress came up just a week prior at one of my last fittings, making her a complete superhuman lifesaver. Beyond all that she was incredibly kind, funny, and patient with me throughout the process, and quick to offer input and advice when I had any questions. Simply put you won’t find a better seamstress anywhere else!

Tara did an amazing job with my wedding dress alterations! I had lost weight and was down two dress sizes after already purchasing my dress several months earlier. Due to the intricacies of the lace and the form-fitting style, I was so worried about how the dress would look after it was sized down. By my first fitting with Tara, however, my mind was totally put at ease. She had my dress fitting perfectly without a trace of the work that had been done in no time! Amazing alterations for a one of a kind dress!

I had my wedding dress altered and Sugarcane Studios along with my mothers and all 6 of my bridesmaids. It was amazing! They did quality work and made sure everything was perfect. My sister's bridesmaids dress was altered in 3 days due to her just having a baby the week before the wedding. Customer service and pricing is excellent, I would highly recommend to anyone looking for alterations.

I cannot recommend Sugarcane enough. I had a wonderful experience. Tara and all her staff are professional and welcoming. My alterations required a very quick turn around and they schedule all my appointments very quickly. The rush fee was totally worth it. My dress was finished on time and my now husband and I were very happy with how my dress fit. Tara even created a small hair clip for our daughter with a piece of my dress (we shorted the train as it was too long). That was a very sweet touch!

Tara was so wonderful to work with. She took the time to properly fit me for my wedding dress and make the right recommendations for what needed to be done. At my final fitting, she even covered up a hole in mesh backing, that I hadn’t even realized was there, with a beautiful floral detail. She put one on both sides so it wasn’t out of place. I didn’t even notice where the hole was because the floral additions fit that well with the rest of my dress! Tara and the staff made me feel so special and beautiful as I twirled around the studio during fittings. I am confident that my dress will be perfect for my big day because of them.

Tara and her amazing staff at Sugarcane did an outstanding job with altering and fitting my wedding dress to perfection. I am SO glad I chose Tara for my wedding dress alterations. My dress was a bit complicated in that it was an usual color and I wanted to add off the shoulder sleeves, but she never hesitated to make it work perfectly! I had such an amazing experience with Tara and Sugarcane Sewing Studios. I will definitely go there again and recommend them to anyone who needs alterations of any kind! I live in NC but bought my wedding dress in Pennsylvania because that's where the majority of my family lives. I didn't want to have to go back-and-forth for fittings. I found Sugarcane online when I was researching somewhere to go and was impressed by Tara's good reviews and experience. I have to admit I was pretty nervous about going somewhere new for alterations on my wedding dress because I've had alterations done in the past that I wasn't thrilled about. But I am so glad I went here! My dress was off the shoulders and had a really intricate crochet-lace detail. On top of that, I was losing weight pretty quickly before the wedding and my shape was changing.. I knew the fit had to be really good so my dress would not fall down, but I also wanted it to have a comfortable/looser feel because of the boho nature of my design. Tara was so creative in helping me to achieve this! She really listened to my concerns and worked with me step-by-step to create the exact, end result I was looking for! I could tell it was an easy and natural process for her. She also just has a really warm and great personality. After my experience with her, I wouldn't consider going anywhere else for any sewing needs I have in the future. I can't recommend her enough!

Itrusting someone with your wedding gown is intense, but Tara is amazing. I’m not tiny, and she made me feel comfortable in my skin and my dress. She assured me that my insecurities were normal, but that my dress and the fit were perfect. Everything was done timely, and beautifully! Would recommend over and over again!

Tara did an amazing job altering my wedding dress. My dress was a skirt with a lace top, and the lace top was the last one the shop had, but it was a at least 3-4 sizes too big. She altered it and it fit me great! I had doubts about my dress before coming to her, but they vanished when she was done with my dress!

She is fantastic! I took my dress to her with a lot of work needing to be done (broken zipper, hem taken up, bodice taken in, bustle, etc) so I was very nervous, but everything was done flawlessly.
