Sunny Heights Event Center & Bed & Breakfast is a historic barn wedding venue located ten minutes outside of Ames, IA. There, couples can enjoy indoor and outdoor weddings in the heart of the midwestern countryside. Sunny Heights Event Center & Bed & Breakfast is nestled on 10 beautiful acres of Iowa farmland. This venue is brimming with natural beauty and is surrounded by an expansive prairie as well as Leopold Woods, Peterson Pits Recreation Area, and McFarland Park. The farmstead dates back to the late 1800s. There, the gravel pits on the land were pivotal to the community during the Great Depression, when they provided materials for projects like the old Lincoln Highway. This saw the farm serve as a symbol of strength and community support. The original owners named it Sunny Heights Farm in reference to the warmth and hospitality that continues to be exuded to this day. The B&B, in particular, offers a glimpse into Iowa farm life at the turn of the century, while the 1898 barn and 1920 silo add to the venue’s historic charm. These iconic structures serve as a beautiful backdrop for wedding ceremonies, receptions, and photography. Between its indoor and outdoor settings, Sunny Heights Event Center & Bed & Breakfast can accommodate celebrations of all shapes and sizes. After the festivities wind down, the happy couple and several other guests can stay on-site in one of the cozy and relaxing rooms.
