Our wedding at Sunset Hills was gorgeous. Everything was top notch, from the ceremony on the hill by the willow tree to the reception inside the beautiful wooden barn. Emily, the coordinator, was incredible to work with: professional, responsible, always available, and willing to work with us for any requests we had.
The perfect rehearsal dinner venue!!! Nick and Kelsey's rehearsal dinner was on September 2, 2016. As soon as I walked into the winery, I knew immediately that this was the perfect venue for the dinner. I met with Kim that day and instantly knew I was going to enjoy working with her in making this a beautiful event. Sunset Hills is absolutely gorgeous both inside and outside. The view is spectacular. Kim and her staff did a wonderful job in making the evening absolutely flawless. That northern Virginia hospitality was definitely the best. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue to begin the weekend of wedding festivities! Thank you so much Kim!!
We were married at Sunset Hills Vineyard in August of 2016. We had visited numerous other wineries in the area, and the barn at Sunset Hills was the nicest venue we found (we loved the ceiling!), and Kim the events coordinator was engaged and helpful with planning and setup. The wedding itself was beautiful (if not a little hot as we decided to do it on lawn outside) and the barn was cool and the perfect fit for our 60 guests. If we had a bigger party (like 100) they also have a nice loft where you can seat people, and two patios to sit an even bigger party if its cool enough. Wouldn't change anything about our wedding--it was perfect!
Absolutely gorgeous venue!!
Highly recommend for a beautiful outdoor wedding to remember for a lifetime!
We were married at Sunset Hills on May 14, 2016. From start to finish, Kim and her staff were a joy to work with. We felt such warmth and love from their staff that we didn't feel at other venues in the area. The grounds and barn were perfect for us. We originally had 120 people which would have been pretty tight. Luckily, we ended up with about 100 and that was perfect. We used the upstairs and downstairs in the barn and all of our guests felt comfortable and welcome. We had our ceremony outside by the beautiful willow tree and had to dash inside mid-ceremony, due to a very sudden rain shower. That only made the day more perfect, trust me. The guests loved it and we had amazing stories. We finished the ceremony on the stairs inside the barn and it worked out perfectly, complete with a double rainbow outside! The best part about getting married at a place like Sunset Hills is you can go back and relive it anytime you want! We had drinks there a few weeks after our wedding and the staff all remembered our night and we had a blast tradings stories and laughing about the evening.
For vendors, I would HIGHLY recommend Bluewater Kitchen for catering and Winchester Floral for flowers. Bluewater is a little pricey, but totally worth it. The food and presentation were impeccable. Winchester Floral was a dream to work with and very, very reasonable. We gave her some simple direction on what we wanted and she absolutely nailed it.
Our guests stayed at Lansdowne and SpringHills Suites, which were both great. We provided shuttles back and forth.
To all the Brides looking for their perfect venue, your search ends here.
Our big day was 5/11/13 but as most of you are realizing, there's a LOT of check lists to get through and the venue is a BIG ONE.
We researched online, made a list and wondered how the heck we'd have the time...THANKFULLY my soon to be MIL texted me one afternoon and said - Sunset Hills hasta be top of the list, i'm here now, it's BREATHTAKING anddd the wine is literally award winning! - I should note, wine is very much appreciated by both families ; )
Sunset Hills was our 1st and LAST stop. Seriously, I took our list and tossed it out the car window! (I then preceded to get out of the car, pick it up and put it in the nearest trashcan, i HATE littering.)
As it turns out, the owners, Mike and Diane, are also environmentally conscience. Diane took the time to personally give us a tour of the vineyard, during which she proudly pointed to the roof of the main barn where the solar panels generate power to the entire vineyard. No need to worry about a power outage on your big day, CHECK! : )
As we walked through the front doors into the main barn, the floor to ceiling woodwork beamed with rustic luxury. Diane gave us a brief rundown about this 1870s dairy farm which they had restored by Amish brothers, maintaining the original structure with much of the original materials. Beginning your future in a historical arena, that was a CHECK for me!
As we walked up to the beautifully polished wood bar, it was time to taste some wine, and as i previously mentioned, this was important. By the time we got to to final wine of the tasting menu, we all nodded in agreement, the reds, whites AND sparkling...check, check and check!
We sat down with Kim, the event coordinator, who was so professional, personable and organized, i was thrilled! They gave us a packet of information which included recommended caterers and wedding coordinators in the area. They were starting to do some of our work for us! Needless to say, that next weekend, we dropped of our deposit and locked in May 11th. During the months of preparation, the one thing i didn't worry about was the staff at Sunset Hills, they had it all taken care of and were amazingly communicative, no matter how many emails my mother sent ; )
Fast Forward to the big day, and the shuttle with me and the bridal party was pulling up the drive to barn, where to the right they had already arranged the chairs, looking towards the willow tree with wine barrels at the altar, the pond in the near distance, mountains a but further and grape vines on either side...Yah...that's what i'm talking about...PICTURE PERFECT.
The cocktail hour was out on the decks of the barn, with the reception to follow inside. The dance floor was bumpin and the open upstairs seating area became a viewing place for the elders to watch our entertaining dance moves. Seasoned to Taste catering put out a heck of a spread and our families and friends still talk about our day 3 years later.
But enough about me, just think, if this is something you're looking for, not only will you have a day to remember but you'll have a place you can go back to where those moments come flooding back, which continues to amaze me.
I hope this helps you, and don't stress, it really is an amazing time for you...CONGRATS!
