They're hands on and extremely responsive, so we were able to knock out a lot of things out via email and a few calls. In addition, they source vendors including the caterer, so we were able to just select (and of course taste) the menu -- and the options were plentiful and diverse. The space itself is gorgeous and we had the most memorable night and our guests really enjoyed themselves. I'd highly recommend Sunset Terrace for your special event!

Sherwin, the event coordinator, made us feel like family for the two years we spent planning our wedding and our guests felt so taken care of by his team from start to finish. When we first saw the venue, I’ll admit that I was a little concerned about the walk past the ice-skating rink. I was worried it wouldn’t seem elevated enough, but because Sunset Terrace met all our other requirements, I came around. On our wedding day, it was so clear from the feedback of our guests that they enjoyed the bit of character added by the walk past the Sky Rink and other things going on in the building. The comment we got most was – “It just felt very New York.” Our guests meant this positively. Sunset Terrace strikes a balance of being elevated and elegant without being “bougie” or taking itself too seriously (which can be tough to find in the city.) On top of that, you can’t go wrong, no matter what the weather has in store. The views at Sunset Terrace are stunning and with the indoor/outdoor option, it’s not possible for rain, fog, or clouds to ruin your day. We got to see the venue several times throughout the changing seasons, and it never stopped being gorgeous. Sherwin and his team made us feel so loved and welcome, especially as a queer couple. Sherwin always asked us how we wanted to do things, never making assumptions based on unconscious biases. During our cocktail hour, he had plates of hors d’oeuvres made for us and hid us away from our guests just so we could quickly eat in peace. On the subject of food, our guests raved about it. We went with a buffet-style meal based on Sherwin’s recommendation, and it did not disappoint. We got way more bang for our buck and our guests got to enjoy several different options as opposed to one fixed plate. We also received so much positive feedback about the waitstaff and bartenders. Everyone said they were so kind, generous, and efficient. We cannot recommend Sunset Terrace enough and are SO thrilled with our choice to get married here!

Not only does this venue offer stunning views and amazing food but the staff is incredibly kind and professional.  Every individual we've had the pleasure of working with at Sunset Terrace was so knowledgeable and helpful. They handled everything from seating, to linens, to food and drinks. This made wedding planning so much easier because we didn't have to hire many vendors. Day of coordination was amazing and kept us stress free. We were able to enjoy our day safely with our loved ones. If you are on the fence about choosing Sunset Terrace because of the ice rink nearby I can promise you that no one will even remember it once they pass through the doors. We had our wedding in December and all of our guests are still telling us how much fun they had, how beautiful everything was, and how much they loved the food!  If you're looking for stunning views,  prime location,  delicious food, professional and kind staff have your wedding at Sunset Terrace!

y sure what we were looking for but when we saw Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers we knew we found a perfect match. The physical venue is hard to beat with stunning views of the Hudson River, plenty of getting ready room, onsite parking, and a huge ceremony/reception space. The space marries industrial vibes while remaining whimsical and romantic with the views. The staff we worked with were responsive, creative, and patient. Other venues we spoke with started with a list of don'ts-- no candles indoors, no live music, etc. At Chelsea Piers, they said, "tell us what you want and we'll do what we can to make it happen." They coordinated with our other vendors seamlessly. Our main priority was making sure our guests had a memorable time and two weeks later, we're still receiving glowing feedback about how much fun they had, how tasty and unique the food was, and how stunning everything looked. 11/10 would recommend this space for any wedding. Full disclosure if you do choose this as your venue: -The space is directly next to an ice hockey rink, so if you plan to get ready on site, bring layers! -Since it is an indoor NYC venue, they require all attendees to be fully vaccinated (woohoo!) -Prepare for the best day of your life!

And for the few vendors you will need to find (photographer, DJ, florist) they've got recommendations! As a former event planner knowing that the Sunset Terrace team had everything so well in hand made the day so so much better for me. Recommend this venue to anyone looking for an off beat NYC venue with a killer view.

provided them two recipes for signature drinks and they had no problem making them for us. They work seamlessly with their caterer Neuman's who was also excellent. Our contact Jennifer was available to meet with us a few times before the wedding for tours and planning meetings. She knows the space very well and has great ideas, but still helped us achieve our unique vision. We self-decorated the space and whole staff there was very accommodating and flexible in scheduling drop off and pick up of the materials. It was the perfect space for our wedding.

The day itself was choreographed so perfectly that I didn't have to think about a single logistical thing. The space--stunning. The food--delicious. The bar--flowing with abandon. the entire process. Jennifer, our event coordinator, was incredible. She responded quickly to emails, hopped on the phone, and was always available if we wanted to stop by the venue to discuss details. She coordinated the catering, the table linens, the floor plans, the bar (including signature cocktails), EVERYTHING. We were able to make this wedding our own, and we are so grateful for that. The venue itself is phenomenal. Three walls are pure windows with views of the Hudson, and the main wall of windows are garage doors that open up onto the deck. We were fortunate to have a beautiful spring day, and the windows stayed open the entire night! The name of the venue is very appropriate, because the sunset DELIVERED. We timed our first dance with the sunset, and it made the moment even more magical. Getting to the venue is a little weird because you have to walk around the ice skating rink, but it is absolutely worth it - you walk into an oasis and completely forget where you just were. I seriously cannot say enough good things about Sunset Terrace. Load-in and load-out of our supplies were seamless, the decorations we provided were placed tastefully and thoughtfully, the ceremony was flipped to the reception in record time, and everything was just perfect. And while it wasn't the least expensive option that we considered, it was still within our budget, and was worth every single penny. Highly recommend!

the big day! Jennifer was so helpful in answering all our questions and planning out the big day to the minute! The wedding and reception went by so smoothly. All our guests raved about the food from Neuman's Kitchen, the venue's exclusive caterer! Jennifer also has a list of preferred vendors and we chose to go with one of the DJs and florists she recommended and we are so glad we did! It is very helpful for the vendors to know and have worked with the wedding venue in the past because it helps reduce the coordination we had to do on our own. We cannot recommend Jennifer and Chelsea Piers at Sunset Terrace enough!

That on top of wanting a unique and yet affordable venue, I knew this was going to be a mission. What everyone says is true, when you walk into Sunset Terrace you’re a little confused for a second even with the signs all around you telling you you’re in the right place, but the second those doors open and you see the gorgeous venue, you’re like okay that was pretty cool and this venue is absolutely stunning. We were pretty much sold when we walked in. Then we met Jennifer. Through out planning this wedding and meeting with countless vendors, I have not met a kinder, more reliable and honest vendor. The fact that we had her as our point person every single step of the way made this process ten times easier. My now husband and I adored her and knew immediately after meeting with her we wanted to secure the date. She didn’t just offer advice, cost cutting solutions, support and expert coordination through out this process but she 110% delivered on the day of. Jennifer and the venue absolutely made the best night of my life exactly how I pictured it. It wasn’t just my husband and I who were blown away but the guests just couldn’t believe the views and set up as well. Their caterer Nuemans Kitchen was just as pleasurable to work with as the venue. The food was amazing and all through the night they catered to us making sure we always had enough food and a drink in our hands. I honestly still can’t believe we were able to have the wedding we wanted in manhattan for such an affordable price. Thank you so much Sunset Terrace for everything!!!

e were low-maintenance, but let's face it, we probably fired like a hundred emails at her. Some phone calls, too. And she was never less than prompt (super prompt!) in replying, and never less than a hundred percent professional when she did. And then of course there was the night of, which she managed with killer aplomb even when, for example, my best man and I lined up on the wrong side. Oops. Anyway, it turned out to be a great wedding, and that's pretty much all due to Jennifer. 10/10, would get married under her supervision again. Er, what am I saying?

She made our day run so smoothly - so thoughtful, informative, excellent communication (with us, bridal parties, vendors, etc.) that our day was relieved of any stress. So helpful in recommending other vendors as well. Working with Jennifer, you don’t need a wedding planner. She honestly deserves more than 5 stars. Exceptional. Neumans Kitchen (the catering company through this venue) is fantastic. Great food, great options. We HIGHLY recommend.

She was extremely responsive from the first interaction to the end of the wedding itself, and she has an incredible attention to detail and warm way about her. He offered us incredibly valuable advice based on his many years of expertise that helped us plan a terrific event. On the day of, our guests could not stop gushing about how much they loved the gorgeous views overlooking the Hudson. We also had a wonderful experience with the caterer, Neuman's Kitchen, who gave us A+ treatment from the time of our tasting to the day of. The staff executed the day perfectly and many of our guests said the food was the best they had ever had at a wedding! All in all, I could not recommend Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers enough!

We held our ceremony around 6:30pm (late August) and Sunset Terrace really lived up to the name: we were bathed in beautiful setting sunlight as we exchanged vows and kicked off our reception (conveniently located at the same spot). We comfortably fit about 110 guests with plenty of room for dancing later on. From a logistics standpoint, Chelsea Piers itself is readily accessible from all over NYC and the Sunset Terrace is just up one flight of stairs with elevator access as well. Moreover, it's situated steps from a park with a working carousel that served as a central point for some more great photos with family and loved ones. To really get a sense of the place, check out some photos from photographers on The Knot who have shot weddings there - simply beautiful. Aside from the natural allure of the venue, I'd be remiss if I failed to mention the amazing staff that helped make our day so special! Jennifer and Dillon worked with us from day one to get a sense of what we wanted our ceremony and reception to look like, and helped us make our ideas reality. Even at the outset, my wife and I had that feeling one gets when you know you're working with professionals: Jennifer and her team have handled countless weddings and were able to suggest ideas or options we hadn't even thought of, but couldn't do without once we saw them. This peace of mind was invaluable, especially because we didn't use a wedding planner (though Jennifer was as adept as any planner). Finally, Jennifer arranged an excellent tasting for us with Neuman's Kitchen, the exclusive caterer for the venue that provided delicious passed hors d'oeuvres and a buffet/carving station that didn't disappoint! All of this at a very reasonable price relative to a number of other NYC venues we considered. Bottom Line: A beautiful view, excellent accommodations, and an amazing staff make Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers a perfect pick for any couple looking in the area!

Our guests were out on the terrace all night enjoying the view and breeze on the water, and we got so many comments on what a great location it was. Also, the food, from Neumann's catering, was really outstanding -- we received tons of compliments on that as well. It's extremely affordable compared with the other NYC venues that we looked at, and having the catering included and knowing up front what the total cost would be was a big plus. Jennifer was friendly, straightforward about everything, highly responsive to all our questions, and laid back but extremely on it with all the details. Really everything on the day went perfectly!

The Sunset Terrace itself is a beautiful and extremely affordable venue for the city and we were really grateful with how much they were able to provide for us with regard to decor, set-up/break-down, and catering. The food is from Neuman's Kitchen and it was unreal, as were the cocktails. They even made special changes just for us based on our requests. Jennifer is experienced with creating detailed itineraries for the day and knew what would "flow" best for the evening. She also provided us with helpful recommendations for other vendors to use and reassured us when we were hit with the unexpected (e.g., knowing which vendors tend to be more creative/less detail oriented but not to be worried about that). I have nothing but wonderful things to say about her and the venue in general.

n the Hudson River that is fully covered but also allows for open-air and your guests to enjoy a terrace? It feels like such an escape in the middle of Manhattan. Beyond the beautiful ambiance, we couldn't have asked for better staff and customer service. Sherwin was so responsive and proactive and worked extremely well with all of our vendors. He was a great partner throughout the process and made himself available for walk-throughs and as questions arose. On the day of our wedding, the whole staff was professional and helped meet all of our guests' needs. We recommend Sunset Terrace without any reservation!

loved the incredible view of the Hudson and the light breeze they got to enjoy in the terrace. Sunsets here truly are magnificent. What’s more, this is probably the most affordable/best value wedding venue in Manhattan. We were stunned by how reasonable the prices are here. We expect they are a little deflated because the entrance is not especially glamorous — you have to walk by the ice rink and its locker room to get here — but no one in our wedding seemed to mind and some of our guests thought it was pretty cool! But once you get inside the terrace, you literally cannot tell that there is an ice rink right next door. We had the absolute best experience working with Jennifer, the wedding coordinator at Chelsea Piers. Seriously, she is probably the best part about the venue. Not only did she seamlessly coordinate the setup of all of our vendors day-of, answer my incessant e-mails with detailed questions promptly and with a smile, but she also heroically tracked down the bakery I asked to provide cupcakes when half of the delivered cupcakes arrived overturned and completely ruined, single-handedly salvaging the cupcakes and securing new ones last-minute as replacement! She is terrifically reliable and I would not trust anyone else with my event. Last, Neuman’s Kitchen provides the catering and they are great. Several guests commented on how good the food was. It was so easy to set up a tasting and work with them without any of the hassle of coordinating an outside caterer. I have a few friends considering getting married in NYC and I have been trying to persuade all of them to use Sunset Terrace — I simply do not believe there is a better value in Manhattan!

The food was absolutely delicious! We had a buffet dinner for about 95 and it was perfect! We were married April 21, had the garage doors down for the ceremony as it was a little to chilly outside for that time, but it felt fantastic to have them open by the dance floor as the night went on! My husband played hockey for many years, and half of the guests were visiting from Sweden, so they thought it was so cool to walk by the hockey arena as you entered the venue space. You will not be disappointed in selecting this venue as your wedding venue - it was truly wonderful from the planning process all the way until the end of the night! Thank you Sherwin and the Chelsea Piers team! I had the wedding of my dreams!!!

for a NYC wedding, especially if you're looking for a nice venue on a strict budget. First off, the venue is BEAUTIFUL. Especially at Sunset. They have giant garage-style glass windows that roll back into the ceiling and are perfect for a warm night and show off the AMAZING view. Yes, you do have to walk past an ice rink (which will most likely have people playing) to get to the venue, but it is 100% worth it. Once you're in the space, you can't hear them playing nor can you see the rink. The space is perfect for a smaller/medium small wedding like we had. I think the max is about 120 people and we ended up having 80 or so. The decoration and lighting you'll need is minimal as they have rustic built in lighting. It's very cute and cozy as is. Not to mention that table cloths/napkins/settings and even votives are provided by the venue and they have tons of options. Neuman's Catering is the venue's caterer and their food is delicious. Not only did we think so, but our guests raved about the food and cocktails hour apps. Diane was wonderful to work with and very accommodating when it came to food allergies and serving preferences. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, exceptional for "wedding food". Last, but certainly not least, the staff at Sunset Terrace is absolutely phenomenal. They literally made our wedding and were flawless from day one. Jennifer Walsh and Jessica D'Aiuto were our venue contacts and not only are the both lovely, personable and fun people, but they worked extremely hard for us and did an amazing job. I am a very particular, organized and detail oriented individual (as is my wife) and Jennifer and Jessica blew our minds with how on top of EVERYTHING they were, while still being personable and not wanting to kill us. If you're looking for a nice venue for an affordable price, you will not find anything better in Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Jersey or the immediate surrounding area. Trust me, we've looked. Plus, you can't beat having the Statue of Liberty in view of your venue. Can't recommend them enough!!!!

. The space is very versatile and can be decorated in any number of ways to personalize your event. Our coordinator, Jennifer, was amazing and answered all of our questions. She was very professional and sweet and helped put our mind at ease with all of our questions and concerns. The staff was great at serving, setting up, cleaning up and keeping things that we wanted couldn't take home that night. No one was ever waiting too long for a drink, and no one went hungry. The timing for everything the day of was also coordinated very smoothly and went off without a hitch. The food was amazing, but we used 'wichcraft which Sunset Terrace will no longer have a contract with in the future, so I can't speak to their new exclusive caterer, Newman's. 'wichcraft was great though, and we were able to do our tasting a year in advance to help us decide which venue to pick. The food certainly helped win us over. The entire day turned out perfectly, and I couldn't have asked for more!

the ONLY venue we could find that did not charge us a space rental fee in addition to a per head charge. With your booking you also get the help of an on-site coordinator who will help you leading up to the event and throughout the party. Our coordinator was great getting the decor all set up. However, we opted to save money by not having an MC and leaning our coordinator and DJ to help keep track of announcements/ scheduling. This worked to some degree however we did end up missing the bouquet toss and had a tiny bit of trouble organizing our exit. But overall, everyone was great. They let you decorate the space however you'd like and their staff will put up whatever decorations you ask. They've very flexible and work with your vision. (Just be warned, if you want to add twinkle lights to the ceiling or anything other than paper lanterns on the ceiling that would require someone stepping on a ladder, you will have to pay an extra vendor to do it for safety reasons.) You do need to use 'Wichcraft as your caterer. The food is good, surprisingly not sandwiches like you'd think. Instead it's traditional wedding food. We went with sea bass, seasonal veggies, short rib, and potatoes au gratin, salad and some desserts. The potatoes were the star. Get the potatoes. The skyline water view from the sunset terrace is great. Our guests loved taking pictures of themselves outside as they enjoyed cocktails and waited for us to enter. This was also a great spot to quickly cool off from dancing. The bar staff was very friendly and lined up tons of cups of water when people got hot and sweaty from dancing. $127 per guest included: buffet style meal with 2 mains, 2 sides, 1 salad, 2 desserts, 3 apps, open bar of wine and beer all fees and taxes are also included in that price Please note, this was their lighter plan, you can bulk things up to more mains, more sides and liqueur if you wish!

The food was provided by Jason's Catering and was also amazing, and all of our guests commented on how good it was. All of the staff helped everything run smoothly and the entire day seemed effortless. A special thanks to our coordinator, Sherwin, who kept the night completely organized, ensured that we were completely taken care of and made everything run perfectly. It truly felt as though we had our own wedding planner for the day. Our guests have continued to comment and how wonderful the space, staff and food all were and were amazed that this place exists in New York. I would definitely recommend this venue to everyone!

They were very attentive and practical with their advice and I 100% appreciated it since I was keeping to a budget and not having hired a wedding consultant or coordinator, it's good to have professionals keep you accountable for your decisions. I had some personal touches I wanted to include and they were so helpful with their ideas and suggestions. Professionalism was beautifully demonstrated when my wedding cake never arrived - LONG story - but Sherwin was very professional handling the situation. Though he offered to have one of his guys find another, we decided we had enough desserts being brought in that it would be fine without. Our guests never even knew. About the venue - This venue was the perfect setting for our wedding on 9/28/2013, reception only. This venue fit our needs because the catering was an affordable price per person, we were allowed to bring in food from outside vendors without cost, and the view spoke for itself. We were lucky to have beautiful weather and had all the doors open all night long. The entrance into the venue isn't great - it is a sports center, but you don't know once you're in. The smell of the hallways could use some work though - even if it means having someone run down the hall with febreeze. About the food - Jason's Catering - I worked with Diane and we did a tasting and friends have told me to not expect the same at the wedding since it'll be mass produced... NOT TRUE! Their menu selection was so amazing, we ended up adding to the cocktail and dinner menu. We requested a mini grilled cheese and over the summer they ended up adding it to the menu! All our guests raved about the cocktail hour and the entrees served. We did buffet style with a carving station because there are guests who want more than one serving and others who only want 1/2 a serving. Though it takes some time to get through the lines, in terms of meal satisfaction I think this worked the best. The mini grilled cheese and sliders were amazing. During dinner everyone LOVED the seared sesame seed crusted tuna and the BBQ steak. We had other desserts brought in from other vendors and coordinating with Sherwin and Diane was seamless. Make sure you run through everything with them ahead of time - we all wanted to make sure it wasn't going to impact other preparations for the night. PROS - beautiful view, catering and service were great, coordinators excellent to work with, affordable CONS - entrance to venue, lights above the dance floor don't dim they are either on or off

The food catered by Jason's was delicious, the flowers and decorations by City Iris were gorgeous and the nearby Hampton Inn was reasonable, newly redecorated and convenient. Our guests raved about the wedding location, even in the rain. They liked walking by the ice rink. And the bride and groom loved all of it. If you don't want a room with a chandelier and want something tasteful and different, this is the place for you. Sherwin and Jennifer went out of their way to be helpful, to meet at a convenient time and to walk me through things. They made it all easy and the wedding day was meaningful and wonderful.

et there was worth every penny! It completely lives up to it's name and it was incredible! Yes, you have to walk by an ice skating rink but 1) you don't notice it at all once you're in the space and 2) for our summer wedding it was a perfect place to cool off for any guests that needed it and 3) so what! :-)! It was truly the most perfect setting for our wedding and reception and I am so grateful to the hubby for finding it. I couldn't be happier and I wouldn't have changed a thing! We were more than relaxed and comfortable going into our big day knowing that everything was in her capable hands. If anything went wrong on our day we have absolutely no idea! For us and our guests the ceremony and reception were flawless...perfect! Lauren and the entire staff were incredible and we can not even begin to thank them enough for everything they did to ensure that we had the most perfect, amazing wedding!

drink, food is additional. So, please do not count on spending less than $100 per person -- even if it is buffet. We had an intimate wedding of 50. Everything was very well executed, Linda Bookbinder was our Event Coordinator and did a very solid job! Forget us as the bride and groom our guests want us to have our anniversary party there! It was beautiful, people felt like that had been on a cruise. Another guest said she had never been to such a well executed event.
