The person I met with really wasn’t that organized with the info he sent me. I wouldn’t have drove over an hour to come see the place if he told me I only had the rental for a reception from 4pm - 10pm.
I would have put negative stars, but this doesn't allow. The worst experience I have ever had with any place of service. Do not book for a wedding if you can help it. Took forever to respond, very unorganized and no one seemed to know what was going on. After being told we never payed and never signed a contract, although money was taken from our account, we were also told the receipt we received for payment was fake. Finally, the Assistance Director told my fiance he made up the whole story about booking and I should talk to him. Again, the most stressful and disrespectful situation I have ever been in when it comes to customer service.
Such a great affordable venue. We loved having the terrace for guests to hang out on during the reception. We got married at the beach nearby and loved having an outdoor ceremony so close to the venue. We also loved how the venue included chairs and tables.
Absolutely beautiful space. Having tables and chairs included with the rental, and the venue's amazing team to set them up was such an amazing time and money saver.
Sunset Terrace is a hidden gem in Lorain. I used the venue for our ceremony and reception and couldn't be happier. Their max capacity is 150 but that worked out for us. The entire back wall is filled with windows over looking the beach which was beautiful at sunset. We received so many compliments about how perfect our venue was.
I got married at Sunset Terrace at Lakeview on Memorial Day weekend. We initially had a horrible experience with Chef Mario Izzo, but our experience completely improved when Taste of Excellence obtained the contract with the venue. Lakeview Park and the inside venue, Sunset Terrace, was the perfect place for my husband and I to get married. The venue suited us perfectly and had a beautiful back porch for our guests to take in the amazing lake view! The staff at Taste of Excellence was perfectly professional. Chris and Taylor walked us through each step of the planning. Taylor did an amazing job on our wedding day. We were confronted with rain during the time of our ceremony, she got the guests into the venue and seated quickly so that we could resume the ceremony. The staff checked on my husband and I all throughout the night. They handled all aspects of the ceremony and reception, which allowed us to be completely present with our guests, enjoying our special day. I would highly recommend this venue to brides who are looking for a beautiful setting. It was the best venue that we found on Lake Erie. The only thing to be mindful of is to be sure that your date is not only booked with Taste of Excellence, but also directly with the park. This ended up being an issue for us due to the horrible service of Mario Izzo, but it was straightened out with Taste of Excellence. Also, be sure to book the beach for the ceremony or photos directly with the park as well, if that is how you are planning your wedding. I can guarantee that it will be a great experience working with Taste of Excellence. I cannot say enough good about them and this amazing venue!
I got married at the Rose Cafe on 8/16/14, before it had switched caterers and ownership from Delucas, so this review is skewed and prices have probably gone up; however they kept the staff from Delucas. This was hands-down the best decision I ever made. If you want a smaller wedding [120-140 guests] this place is perfect. I wouldn't try to squeeze anymore in there. Right on the beach, book it for the lake sunset if nothing else. The entire North wall is windows, it's absolutely gorgeous. We got married right across the driveway in the Event Garden. The staff was wonderful and organized and decorated everything for me, I just showed up a few days before and dropped it all off and let them know what each thing was for. They made the night seamless. The bar was popping and the bartender was so much fun. Okay, they *did* forget our vegetable, but they refunded a good amount of money, and if that's the worst thing that happened I think we're doing alright. Such a good value for the cost, it was the cheapest venue I found [and boy did I hunt!] and was unique and beautiful in every way. We got photos on the beach and in the Rose Garden afterward, it was such a delight.
The Rose Cafe was an absolutely beautiful! The setting is something you will not find elsewhere. We had a few issues with set-up and the staff not wanting to let us into the venue, but once we were able to set up we were completely happy. I would recommend having your table arrangements completely put together in advance even though the staff offer to do set-up. They put together my table numbers in a slightly haphazard fashion. To be honest I didn't really notice--but was told by other guests.
If you are looking for a unique venue with friendly staff, excellent food, and a view to die for--I highly recommend Rose Cafe!
The Rose Cafe at Lakeview Park in Lorain, OH is a highly underrated westside Cleveland wedding venue. You can have your ceremony on the immaculate beach and then walk over to the Rose Cafe for your reception. The staff was very friendly, easy to work with, and the bartender was excellent. The only drawback is lodging is not very close. We rented a local party bus to pickup our guests for the night. You also have to use DeLuca's Place in the park as your caterer.
I had bounced the idea of having our wedding reception at the Rose Cafe back and forth before finally deciding to go with it. The venue only holds 150 people (plus the wedding party) which was the biggest drawback for me. However, it worked out perfectly. You can have 10 people at 15 tables, which does make for a slightly crammed dinner - but it's very doable. The food was good. Dinner did take longer to serve than expected but the night was not too thrown off. You cannot bring your own alcohol to this venue and must use their stock which ended up being a little pricey. However, the bar did serve shots which was a huge plus because a lot of wedding venues in this area do not. The views of the lake and the giant deck overlooking the water made the night. It's absolutely gorgeous and in the end I was much happier that we opted for a smaller venue with a gorgeous view rather than a larger one without a view. I would highly recommend this venue!
I couldn't have asked for a better back drop. We were married on the beach and our guests sat in the amphitheater. We had our reception in the Cafe and were able to take pictures in the rose garden, on the beach, with the lighthouse in the background, by the fountain and a few other places. The staff was fairly good, but we did have a few hitches. I had left detailed emails with the wedding coordinator about everything and I'd say 90% of them were followed. At the end of the day we were very happy, but of course I would have liked things perfect. Our guests all had to drive at least an hour to get there and everyone said it was well worth it.
