Carrie and Ganer shot our intimate, spooky wedding at the end of October 2023, and they were such a joy to work with from the first consultation to the day-of and delivering our photos with speed and excellence afterwards. They are creatives at heart and love to work with concepts and themes, which we appreciated being creatives ourselves! There are not enough words to describe how AMAZING Carrie and Ganer are and the incredible content they delivered. We searched very hard for an amazing photographer and felt so comfortable with Carrie and her abilities to capture our wedding. From our first meeting, our engagement shoot, and our wedding, Carrie and Ganer were amazing to work with. They are fun, professional, friendly, and truly experts in capturing your special day. We felt so comfortable and confident in front of the camera and trusted Carrie every step of the way. We received a gallery full of SO SO SO many beautiful photos, and a teaser set before the full set was ready. We are absolutely in love with every single photo from our wedding, many of which are candid and capture the day + emotions perfectly. We also worked hard to have a very colorful wedding palette and Carrie and Ganer knew how to capture/edit without dulling or changing any of the color. I would recommend Sur La Lune to absolutely everybody as Carrie and Ganer were also incredibly accepting of all guests of our wedding, are very supportive of the LGBT+ community, and are promote body positivity. We cannot thank Carrie and Ganer enough for the way they had captured our wedding and the photos we will cherish forever.

Aside from the actual marriage part, hiring Sur La Lune Photography was the best wedding-related decision my husband and I made. From the start, Carrie was so organized, comforting, and outrageously helpful. On the big day itself, she was the queen of corralling a crowd, and she can seriously capture the perfect shot of anyone (from baby nephews to grandparents, from the shy, quiet family members to the wild friends who hit the dance floor first). We had the privilege of having both Carrie and Ganer present to capture our wedding, and they were incredible. The quality of their photos speaks for itself -- and their operation is seamless. We chose Carrie to shoot at our wedding because we liked their style of candid documentation photography and she put us at ease in early conversations both in working with a photographer for the first time, but also in having an unknown person come to our non-traditional wedding in rural Tennessee. We also traveled up to Bowling Green for an engagement shoot and were so glad we did. Despite our awkwardness and unfamiliarity in front of a camera, Carrie guided us through and came out with amazing photos. The day of the event was fantastic to know Carrie and Ganer were there to capture the day and let us focus on the event and our guests. So excited to see the outcome and relive the day through their photos.

WOW. Carrie was the absolute best! So prepared and professional but super fun and the absolute sweetest person. She was keeping us hyped up and confident while getting pictures. So patient while we got all our family pictures and captured all the magical moments. Not to mention so talented!!!

We loved having Carrie (& Ganer!) photograph our wedding in September. Since we’re based in Chicago, I found Sur La Lune during my research for vendors for our destination wedding in Louisville. I immediately was struck with her commitment to positive and inclusive values that resonated with us. It was important to me to have a vendor that aligned with those values. While we weren’t able to do an engagement shoot given that we were in Chicago, I really enjoyed meeting Carrie virtually and her personality definitely came through. She sent us a full Q&A that covered a lot of our vision for the big day, important people/places/things to photograph, and tips from other brides. We really wanted to be able to enjoy our big day without feeling like we had to constantly be posing for pictures. We wanted to be efficient with those short blocks we did have for posing so we could truly enjoy the time with our guests who’d traveled down for the wedding. Carrie & Ganer were both super efficient with those times – splitting up between locations and blending in seamlessly as the day progressed. I actually ended up being grateful for a lot of those posing sessions and low key wished I actually had more time for posing in between our ceremony and reception. But, alas, I was too busy having the time of my life! We also used Carrie to make an album of our photos and it looks amazing so far. I cannot wait to have it for our anniversary - you can really see the life between each shot and feel the emotions of the day. I can’t stop smiling even just looking at the album proof!

Where to begin!! After months of searching for the right photographer after our engagement, we came across Sur La Lune & instantly fell in love with the emotions they captured in each photo. We knew they were our people the second we realized we had matching cats! (spooky kitties are the best kitties) But in all honesty they were our calm & reassuring voice through the wedding planning process. Carrie understood my Type A planning & answered every. single. question. I sent her monthly. Through our engagement session & on the wedding day Carrie & Ganer were like a warm hug. Speaking boastfully about our love & joy, then capturing it for us to relive forever. They were efficient, honest, & reliable; which is what we needed to slow our brains & take a moment to pause for each other. Hiring Carrie to photograph our wedding was the best decision we ever made! I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Sur La Lune. She was so friendly and professional from day one! She always got back with us quickly and answered all of our questions. Closer to our wedding she sent us a detailed document of everything we may need to help prepare for our day, as well. That helped a ton! We had a very small wedding, so I was curious if the amount of photos we received would be different than your larger weddings.. Not at all. We got back so many pictures from our day. I still can’t believe it. She did such a great job and I am so glad we have these to look back on. Our wedding experience with her was smooth, relaxing, and so fun!

We hired Carrie and Ganer through a mutual friend and it was hands down the best decision we made for our wedding. From the initial conversation it was clear that Carrie was very invested in getting to know us as a couple and hear our story. In the weeks leading up to the wedding she provided us with a thorough packet of information about what to expect and really helped us hammer out a realistic timeline. Day of the wedding, her and Ganer were ABSOLUTE gems and felt like our lighthouses amidst a crazy (but fun) storm. My husband and I could not have hired better wedding photographers! Carrie and Ganer were thoughtful, phenomenal, and incredibly experienced, and we’re astounded at how well they captured our love for each other in every one of our wedding pictures. They were fun, but professional, and they took care of even the smallest details — even down to bringing hand warmers for us since our wedding day turned out so cold! There surely cannot be a better set of photographers in Bowling Green than Sur La Lune, and I would highly recommend them to any soon-to-be married couple.

Carrie was an absolute blast to work with. She is so professional, creative, and talented. When the second photographer in our contract had a scheduling conflict, she hired one of the other fantastic photographers in our area (Loren Gifford, IG: lorengifford_photography) as her second for the day. We could not have been more thrilled to work with both Carrie and Loren. Carrie walked us through the whole process with great prep documents filled with all sorts of helpful information. She thought of everything and made sure we didn't forget anything on our big day. She also worked super well with our complex family dynamics, allowing space for a variety of portrait groupings. Our posed photos are gorgeous, but it's the candids - the reception, the hanging out photos where folks were caught off guard - where the real magic happens. We have so many amazing photos to choose from to share with friends and family and display in our home. I don't even know where we'll begin. We cannot recommend Sur La Lune Photography enough! An absolute gem of a human and a very talented photographer. Carrie made us feel comfortable immediately, but more importantly she was really great at direction. For a couple that typically like being behind the scenes, Carrie made us feel like we were made for the camera. From start to finish, it was an incredible experience for our elopement. After our wedding, Carrie was quick to get our photos back and she took so many that we absolutely love! How do you pick just a few?!?! I recommend Sur La Lune for anyone who would like all the feels when you look at your pictures.

My husband and I recently got married on May 13th and we couldn’t have chosen a better photographer than Sur La Lune!! They photographed our friends’ wedding and they highly recommended them because they loved how Sur La Lune was able to capture every moment, but also enjoyed working with Carrie and her husband Ganer. We decided to go with Sur La Lune as well for our engagement and wedding photos, and they did an AMAZING job!! Carrie is such a great person to work with and made the whole process super easy. When we did our engagement photos, she made it super fun and enjoyable to where we didn’t feel awkward at all. She was very patient as she dealt with us and our German Shephard puppy at the time lol! But, once we got those back we knew we made the right decision in picking them to do our wedding as well. Leading up to the wedding, she was very organized and was very helpful in lining out what was expected for the day-of. When our wedding day came, Carrie and Ganer tag teamed the whole day and did an amazing job at capturing every moment!! They are such great people to work with and just made the whole day fun and easy for all of us. We loved working with them and just love how our photos turned out! Even while we were waiting for them, Carrie kept us updated along the way and didn’t make us feel worried at all. We just love our how them and our photos so much and couldn’t imagine having any other photographer!! We cannot recommend them enough and really appreciated all the work they put in to capture our special day!!

I can't recommend this team highly enough. I reached out to Carrie after seeing that her photos were more cinematic which was what I was looking for. I am still in shock and awe at the level to which she delivered on that. These are the best wedding photos I've ever seen, and they are mine!! Carrie is the most wholesome and down to earth photographer I have ever worked with. She is so adept at making everyone in the vicinity feel calm, welcome, and happy. As a covid bride, she was so helpful in any rescheduling that had to happen, and was dedicated to making our vision come to life. Her aesthetic is beautiful, light, bright, and open. She is down to get fun shots and she’s not afraid to use color. I could not recommend Carrie and Sur La Lune enough.

We worked with Carrie and Garner for over a year; they shot our engagement and wedding. Both sets of photos absolutely blew us away. Every single shot could be put up in my house somewhere- they’re that good! Beyond their stunning work, they are just awesome people to work with. Our engagement shoot was so fun, Carrie was always giving us something to laugh at. At the wedding, they got all the shots- the ones I asked for and even ones I didn’t know I needed. They were so professional, prompt, and fun to work with. I would book them over and over again.

My husband and I got married in September 2021 and we could not have chosen a better wedding photographer than Sur La Lune! We did engagement photos with Carrie about 6 months before the wedding, and she was instantly so friendly and warm. She made us feel like rock stars in that photoshoot even though I normally hate being in front of a camera for any extended period of time. It was really great to work with her before our wedding day and trust that she’d capture things the way we wanted. On the day of the wedding she and her husband Ganer (photography dream team!) were prompt and split up to cover the girls and guys at their respective airbnbs. Carrie was amazing at getting both candid and (fun) posed shots of my bridal party while I was in the makeup chair, and Ganer was really engaging and made the guys feel at ease while getting photos of them getting ready (drinking). We did family photos before and after the ceremony, and during both Carrie was great about keeping us on schedule and being efficient so we could get back to visiting with guests and enjoying the party. She was also really flexible with us as we decided to skip sunset photos and did a quick nighttime session under the bistro lights on the patio during the reception (which came out SO cute). Overall, Sur La Lune was an easy choice – we loved working with Carrie and Ganer, they were extremely kind and accommodating, and the photo editing style is still natural but so vibrant! We love love love our photos so much and highly recommend Sur La Lune!

Carrie and Ganer were AMAZING! We met Carrie because she had photographed our friends’ wedding, and they highly recommended her. From the first contact with her, she was so communicative, great at setting expectations, and we loved her photography style. Sur La Lune was the only choice for us. After reading their bio, their approach to wedding photos, and seeing the fantastic quality of their work, we immediately reached out. They were so accommodating to us and our needs. They answered questions that we had, they provided us with resources to help us better plan our wedding, and helped us keep our wedding on track. They were timely, patient, and utterly kind. Our wedding photos were beautiful, plentiful, and provided to us very quickly! The photos were honest, were not heavily edited, and really captured our special day. A lot of variety was provided, too! Sur La Lune photography is amazing! My husband and I used her for our engagement photos and now our wedding. She listened to what we wanted and I love that she wanted candid photos. She did a great mix between traditional wedding photos and the candid photos. It was very important to us to find someone that was also LGBTQ+ friendly and Sur La Lune/Carrie is that. She made us feel comfortable and be free to be us. Just simply amazing!

I cannot thank Carrie and Ganer enough for making our wedding day so spectacular. I had seen her work through a friend’s wedding and contacted her the day after I got engaged. She was the one vendor I knew we had to have and found her availability before we even had a venue. They live in Kentucky but came to Florida to photograph our wedding. They love to travel and their rates for out of state are so reasonable and affordable. They stood by our side through two postponements and three different wedding dates due to the pandemic and were so supportive and understanding with all of our changes. Carrie even helped ensure our timeline with smooth enough to allow for all the pictures that we wanted. Come the day of the wedding, we never felt like we were being photographed. It felt like we were just living the best day of our lives and got to have that captured by two friends. The photos are beyond amazing and there is not a single one that we don’t love. She was so communicative throughout the entire process, even following the wedding, and kept us up-to-date on how the editing was going. She even sent us teasers (like 100) before our full album was delivered. I cannot sing their praises high enough.

I can't thank Carrie enough for going out of her way to help capture my wedding day. We originally planned for a 150+ person wedding in Chattanooga, TN in October 2021, and unfortunately, Delta cases were rising rapidly enough in that area that we decided to pivot and have an intimate 35 person wedding where we live in Colorado. Without hesitating, Carrie made it work for my husband and I logistically and financially (now that a plane ticket was needed!) and before anything else commended us for following what was right for us. This example truly encapsulates Sur la Lune Photography's spirit in my mind - compassionate, honest service that puts people first. You can absolutely see that in the amazing work Carrie produced with our beautiful photos, which several friends and family (unprompted) have said are the best wedding photos they've ever seen. So much love, fun, inclusivity, and whimsy was captured that day, which originally drew me to Sur La Lune's style. Carrie truly goes out of her way to make her clients feel supported and listened to while providing fantastic guidance and direction on the day of the wedding. While I was lucky to have had a lot of really good wedding vendors, Carrie and Ganer are by far my favorite. They are incredibly talented. That is evident in their photographs and, boy, did they deliver with a wedding album that they went above and beyond on just like everything else. They captured the most genuine photographs that I will cherish forever. They caught the raw emotions and the photos really let us relive that day, which we will do over and over for years to come. I had seen enough of their photos to know that was the kind of product I would be getting when I booked them, but I didn’t fully know then the kind of people that they are. After working with them over a very long engagement, I can tell you that these two are the best of people. They stuck with me through 4 date changes, worked hard to accommodate me each time, and were always great communicators through the whole process, even providing encouragement when the pandemic would cause another date change. When I had to switch wedding venues at the 11th hour, they went above and beyond to give me the lush green outdoor photographs that I had been envisioning at the prior venue for two years. When I switched to a venue with a more industrial look, I had accepted that I would not get the green, outdoor backgrounds that I wanted. But true to form, Carrie and Ganer got creative and found multiple ways to give me the backgrounds I had always wanted. They have an eye for that kind of thing and the pictures truly blew me away, but that is just the kind of people they are. They care deeply for their clients and it shows in everything they do. If that isn’t reason enough to book them then how much fun you’ll have with them is. They effortlessly make everything so comfortable and natural and it ends up being an absolute blast. Even my husband has mentioned several times, how much fun he had taking pictures with them. We genuinely cannot say enough good things about them and can guarantee that we will find a way to have more photo opportunities with them!

We had the pleasure of knowing Carrie & Ganer before we booked them for our Tampa, FL wedding (later adjusted to a vow renewal due to COVID-19) so we knew they were talented. But let me tell you, they blew our expectations out of the Tampa Bay water!! Wow, wow, wow!!! Through their photos we are able to see and FEEL the emotion, energy and beauty of our vow renewal. Somehow Ganer & Carrie were EVERYWHERE at all times. It is so incredible to look back at all the moments we remembered being apart of and moments that didn't include us, but we got to be made aware of and live in because they intentionally chose to document them. We are not a couple that loves posing for photos but Carrie and Ganer have this amazing ability to help you focus on being in the moment instead being in front of the camera. And because of that ability, all of our photos feel so organic instead of posed. We whole heartedly believe there's not another photographer team that could have done a better job capturing our vow renewal in a way that represented US as a couple. If you want organic, creative, fun, and thoughtful photographers that aim to capture your day in a way that is authentic to you - stop looking and book Sur La Lune Photography! This was easily the BEST vendor decision we made.

I won't go into details about the talent of Carrie and Ganer because their photos speak for themselves. What you need to know is how compassionate, positive, and loving these two humans are. We initially hired Carrie and Ganer for our wedding which was cancelled twice due to Covid. Eventually, we decided to use them for a lifestyle shoot to showcase our new house and our sweet baby boy. HOLY COW THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Their flexibility on rescheduling and their understanding nature brought me to tears... twice. They truly wanted to support us in anyway we needed. Without any judgment and with nothing but love, they penciled us in when we requested and changed their focus to match ours. Then the shoot came. My husband and I are not familiar with being in front of a camera, but Carrie and Ganer made us feel like models. We were so comfortable around them, they almost felt like family. We shared so many laughs and they played with/babysat our one year old while we had some couples photos. They didn't forget our pets either!! They captured the personality of our house and our family. We were so weepy going through the photos. If I could give them 2000 stars, I would. Their photography skills are amazing, but truly, if you're looking for someone who wants to understand and support you, look no further. You will not be disappointed.

I don’t have enough kind words in my vocabulary to describe Sur La Lune… Carrie and Ganer are just absolutely wonderful people in every sense of the word! Looking through our wedding photos for the first time transported me back to those moments on that day even though it was weeks later in my living room. Carrie’s artistry is perfection! She’s so detailed oriented and every photo is absolutely incredible! The angles, the lighting, the posing, the backdrops, the candids, BAM, nailed it! I literally just shared our entire wedding album with my family and friends because everyone deserves to be touched by the joy Carrie and Ganer captured on our big day! Every photo is so authentic, and we couldn’t be more thankful! Our wedding was held on my family’s farm in Edmonton, KY. My family and I created our little wedding venue from scratch and Carrie and Ganer were able to capture EVERY DETAIL! When you spend so much time putting together your day, it’s so important to have thoughtful, meaningful, BEAUTIFUL documentation of all the details and little moments most might miss. Along with this, my husband and I are really free-spirited, easy going, and family oriented, so it was extremely important that our wedding photos captured the essence of “us” on our big day. Carrie did the prep work necessary to make sure they were able to capture all the important parts of our day, big and small, and it means the world to us that we get to look back on them whenever we want! She took the time to get to know us as a couple and truly understand our vision for the day. I can’t wait for more of our next big life events to happen for a lot of reasons, but also to have an excuse to work with Sur La Lune again! Even our guests were like, “wow they were everywhere and so freakin’ kind!” - Kindness is important y’all! Thank you again Carrie and Ganer! It isn't often that you regard a wedding vendor as more of a friend than a hire. Carrie and Ganer are the exception to this. From the moment we met them (I think over two years ago at this point), I knew that we had made the right choice for a photographer. When COVID forced our original wedding plans to be discarded, Carrie was so accommodating and supportive of our plans as we pivoted, adjusted, and embraced the disappointment that early 2020 brought to the world. Carrie and Ganer ended up photographing our tiny immediate-family only ceremony, and did a beautiful job of capturing our love and the sweet memories created. Then, when we were able to have our "Happily Ever After" (or Wedding 2.0), where we renewed our vows and celebrated with all of our loved ones at our wedding reception, Carrie and Ganer showed up again! I feel so lucky to have had the unique privilege of getting to work with them twice. Nobody captures emotion, love, and pure joy like they can. If you're going to splurge on anything wedding expense-related, splurge on a good photographer who you know will fulfill your dreams (and probably surpass your expectations as well!). I will recommend Sur La Lune to everyone I meet, for the rest of time. These are good, good people. We love them!

Carrie & Ganer are the definition of genuine & it shows in their photographs over & over again…. What I love most about our photos are how much of our personalities & our relationship shows through them with each other, with our guests.. …they’re beautiful, candid..& honest & it was captured without the awkwardness of feeling posed or like you were trying to be anything other than your most real self. They captured moments I literally don’t even remember anyone else being around to see. We are laughing & crying & enjoying the moments & those are the pictures I want to see/love to see of myself… Also…I feel as a bride I found it difficult to find photographers who were willing to even speak to me without agreeing to certain criteria for the day regarding $ & time… It’s no secret the impact the current world is having on the wedding industry & very few businesses & professionals are willing to work with you for mini sessions or elopements or tiny weddings. This couple cares…about you, your partner, your needs & ideas…& it shows. They deliver in every way…this will not be the last time I work with these 2. We were introduced to Carrie and Ganer when they photographed a good friend's wedding! As soon as we got engaged last year, I knew immediately they would be our first choice for documenting our own wedding, and I was thrilled they were available. Like so many couples in 2020, we had to change our plans, but Carrie was so flexible and accommodating! We just got our photos back and I can't stop looking at them! Both Carrie and Ganer are just so talented, especially at capturing candids and making use of space. We were married in a friend's backyard, and even our guests commented at how creative they were at utilizing the household decorations in our photographs. They are both so good at making everyone feel comfortable and directing people to get the best shots! I knew going in that the photos would be incredible, but they honestly exceeded even my very high expectations. I could not recommend them more!

Carrie and her husband were so fun to work with. My fiancé and I are not photo people and they made us both feel comfortable in front of the camera and nor too posed. They even helped to capture some pictures of our fur baby who was our flower girl for the day.

Where do I even begin? <3 After scrolling through Sur La Lune’s Instagram page, I knew my fiancé and I had to book Carrie. The vibrant colors! The romantic lighting! Her photos are simply magical!! We were both a little nervous, but Carrie made us feel SO comfortable and confident! She’s truly a joy to work with. We really appreciated the overshooting. With Sur La Lune, you never have to worry that a moment will be missed. I personally like candids better than posed photos, but even our posed photos are perfect! Carrie is so good at giving helpful directions, and posing couples in ways that aren’t cheesy or unnatural looking. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

One word.... OBSESSED! Everything about working with Carrie & Ganer was wonderful. We planned a super intimate elopement and had two goals: 1) Get married and begin our forever 2) Have great photos of the occasion Done and done with Sur La Lune! I knew before meeting them that amazing photos was their game and I loved how candid photos was an obvious talent but it wasn’t until experiencing it first hand that I fell head over heels. Carrie is a master at finding the best lighting and making magic. She made us feel confident and relaxed... something I’ve never had before. She was truly in the zone. We never felt rushed or like she was just trying to get the job done. She wasn’t running through a list of shots but was trusting her instincts and finding the perfect moments. I do not consider myself a photogenic person but she made me feel beautiful on the most important day to feel that way. I don’t know how they do it but I’m so thankful they did for us! I’m here to sing Sur la Lune’s praises and to talk about the dreaded ~COVID wedding~. SUR LA LUNE: Okay, I’ve known Carrie for many years. She has snagged my photo at many events and long before I paid her a dime she was responsible for a number of great profile pictures of mine. When I got engaged, I reached out to her basically immediately (before telling most of my friends and family, lol) to find out when she would be in town so we could do an engagement shoot (we live in California). I was so excited to finally work with her formally. We wandered through the arts district of Downtown LA, and Carrie and Ganer made us feel so comfortable and playful and pretty. My fiancé (now husband) and I both can’t stand overly posed, cheesy couples photography. We wanted our pictures feel natural and to reflect our personality; Carrie and Ganer absolutely created a space for that. The photos are so full of energy and color and play. I especially appreciate the way Carrie reliably overshoots - she captures every moment possible. My husband is an archetypal Virgo who is constantly tidying up after me, and because Carrie insists on shooting even the “in-between” moments, I was able to compile this hilarious series of all the moments my husband fixed my hair during the session. They’re silly and they make me laugh, but they also totally capture the way that he loves and cares for me. It’s something I didn’t even really notice until she captured it on camera, which is part of her magic as a photographer. COVID WEDDINGS: Are you a “COVID couple” torn about how to proceed with your wedding? Do you feel like all your dreams for your big day have been dashed and nothing feels certain and everything sucks? I FEEL YOU. My husband and I had to cancel our 90 person wedding and rethink everything. For us, that meant scrapping our previous plans, finding a beautiful local Airbnb, picking the select few people we could have present with us in person (we opted for 6), and inviting everyone else via Zoom. Even though we fell we were settling, making the best out of a bad situation, etc., it turned out to be so much more intimate and wonderful than we could have imagined - I wouldn’t change it. Our digital guests actually said it was the most heartfelt, honest, touching ceremony they had ever witnessed, and we had people crying along with us during our vows all over the country. We saved so much money, and we got to be way more emotionally present during our wedding day than we could have if it was this massive event we were managing. Incredible. Book her now. The way Carrie captures those in-between special moments allows you to relive all the emotions you were feeling on that day. Personally I feel very awkward in front of the camera and have a hard time with posed shoots. But, Carrie was the ultimate hype woman that made everyone feel so comfortable and relaxed. We did a mini-elopement and I contacted Carrie the week before. I had already picked her months in advance, but of course plans kept changing. She was so accommodating and supportive through all of the changed plans. She also helped with impromptu day of coordination. Everyone that attended commented on how natural and effortless the day felt thanks to Carrie. She is so very kind, patient, energizing, and artistic. We feel so truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with her. I’ve never thought of myself as photogenic, but with Carrie’s artistic eye I felt like I could be on the cover of Brides magazine! Truly, the best ever.

When COVID-19 did its thing and completely changed our plans, they were so flexible and helpful with rescheduling with us, and they did a beautiful job photographing our tiny family wedding! I inquired about Carrie’s services literally maybe a week before my elopement. My plans had changed so many times and this pandemic threw us into complete chaos. Not only did she jump headfirst into being my photographer but went absolutely above and beyond in so many ways I can’t count. She gave me advice, helped with decisions that she absolutely didn’t have to help with, and when my officiant had been potentially exposed her husband stepped up to the plate and wrote us a ceremony in a matter of days. Y’all. He read our story and crafted a speech to suit us and it was phenomenal. She was professional. Empathetic. So sweet. I remember when we were researching photographers for our engagement ceremony - I was honestly quite nervous about photographers in the Bowling Green area and their openness to capturing intimate moments during a Pakistani Muslim engagement ceremony at a mosque. Usman and I would see Ganer’s smile and Carrie's pleased expression after getting a good moment and we were reminded of how you both have become more than photographers to us - we value your friendship and our door in DC/wherever we end up in the future is always open to y’all! As we went through the pictures from the religious ceremony at the mosque/nikkah, the number of “awws” as we went through these photos can not be counted. Usman and I remember like yesterday the days we would go to that mosque - it was a second home to us and our community helped build it from the ground up. I am so so grateful that we took those pictures in the spot we used to read Quran in weekend classes together. At the wedding ceremony, Carrie, Ganer and Rachel captured the glamorous, beautiful reception that was the perfect way to celebrate our marriage with our family and friends. First of all, having Carrie and Rachel over at the house was so much fun. Usman and I were in our element - we felt like models in those Pakistani bridal magazines haha. We are so happy to have chosen Carrie and Ganer as our photographers. We planned our wedding from abroad, and they were super flexible and helpful during that process, including skyping at odd hours. On the day, they managed to be both professional and extremely friendly, putting everyone at ease. Normally I don't love to be photographed, but I had a great time with Carrie! Both the number and quality of photographs we got back from them were fantastic. They really captured the emotions of the day and the location, which was special to me. Thank you Carrie and Ganer!

Carrie and Ganer made my husband and I feel very at ease in front of the camera. Our guests hardly knew they were there, which allowed for some amazing candid shots during the reception. One such moment was my husband's cousin doing a back-flip (unprompted) on the dance floor. They managed to catch him mid-air with a background of guests looking both shocked and thrilled at the same time! We have some beautiful portraits and family photos as well. They didn't just capture some moments here and there, but really showed the unfolding- the story of the day. They delivered more pictures than we anticipated. Carrie and Ganer even gave us some preview pictures that we could look at while we were on our honeymoon! They were very organized and help guide us through the process so that we were more efficient and could spend more thoughtful time with our guests. One of the things I really appreciated was that they asked for a list ahead of time of family portraits that we wanted to have following the ceremony. This sped up the process, and my husband and I were able to actually have some time at cocktail hour to mingle with guests. They are extremely organized and efficient, and really did a great job of wrangling together large groups of people. Carrie and Ganer are amazingly talented, genuine, and caring. We had an outdoor wedding, and at one point Ganer was concerned my husband might be starting to get sunburned, so he gave him some sunscreen lotion. These two really went above and beyond! My husband has some of our wedding photos hung in his office and folks often come by and ask him what magazine he got them from!

Carrie and Sav were life savers!!! Carrie reaches out before the wedding to make sure what we wanted captured was there. It definitely helped for a timeline of how the day was going to flow. She not only focused on her photography but every aspect of the day and how things were going to go down. Sav was with my now wife during the day getting her ready. Yes I said wife as SurLaLune is very LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈 friendly. Sav was always there running around making sure the train fluff was how it needed to be. She’s definitely a pro at this. My now wife is a nervous person and doesn’t like attention on her but Sav kept her at ease and captured beautiful moments. During the day Carrie was there as a cheerleader and making sure everything was going as planned. She’s not afraid to step in to make sure the day goes as the couple wishes. Because some of my family wasn’t there to help me in my dress and jewelry she stepped in and made sure my necklace was on the correct way. After the wedding we got previews back within 3 DAYS!!! That’s with the holidays around the corner! Married Dec 7 and previews by the 10th! The day would not have been the same with out her and Sav there. I would definitely recommend Sur La Lune for any of your photography needs. We will definitely be hitting her up for any of our future photography needs! 

I love this photography duo. Here are some highlights from working with Carrie and Ganer... Before the Wedding They make sure beforehand that they know exactly what you want, if there's any specific and special moments, and/or details to be sure to capture. During the Wedding Carrie and Ganer flew out to California in between Christmas and New Years to photograph our wedding. They are go-with-the-flow kind of people and with the stress of a wedding, this attitude is MUCH needed. Carrie and Ganer captured every single moment, there isn't 1 thing that they missed. Carrie went out of her way to find the best spots. She was so creative. It was like doing a photoshoot with a best friend. They make you feel so comfortable, calm, & silly. After the Wedding 3 days after and she was already sending me previews (again this is during the holidays & most photographers you have to wait A LOT longer even when it's not the holidays) The pictures are the most amazing & beautiful images. I cannot express this enough. I love Carrie's photography style , she is a very organic photographer. She let the special moments happen naturally instead of creating these awkward staged images. Not only can you access the images through her website and create photobooks, but she sends you this beautiful flash drive so you can store your images. I absolutely would recommend Sur LA Lune Photography!

Carrie and Ganer are amazing, not only at taking photos, but capturing you and all your loved ones in the most organic and beautiful ways. Going through each photo allowed my husband and I to relive every memory of our special day. Not only was she easy to work with, but she genuinely cares about her clients well being. It was very hot on my wedding day, and after being outside taking photos for a long time, Carrie noticed I was getting dizzy and quickly ended the session so we could go back inside and I could get some water to cool down. Sometimes you need others to look out for your well being, and I’m so thankful Carrie was there. Overall, I would recommend Sur La Lune for anyone who wants more natural photos, from someone who pours all her soul into ensuring they are as beautiful as your love.

Carrie and her husband were absolutely incredible! They took beautiful pictures and were everywhere throughout the entire wedding/reception yet did it so discreetly we hardly noticed the pictures were being taken (and for a camera shy bride, it was much appreciated!). They were so sweet and made the day so much more enjoyable and memorable. Carrie is not only super responsive and helpful, she really goes out of her way to make sure you’re prepared and the day runs smoothly. I would highly recommend to anyone!

What is so apparent to us both is that Carrie and Sav did an excellent job capturing how our whole day felt. As we were planning, we made a lot of intentional choices to do (or not do) certain things with the ultimate hope that by doing so we would arrive at a day that felt like us. The pictures are such a wonderful reminder of how much that day exceeded even what we had planned it to be. Our personalities and friendships shine through. Even in our posed pictures they've managed to capture something extra that tells a story about us and the relationships we have with our friends and family. We spent so much of that day laughing, smiling, and being our goofy selves, and that's exactly what they've documented. We also love that Carrie and Sav spent time capturing some of the moments we weren't able to see, like our guests arriving. Aside from that, we always felt so able to trust Carrie. Same-sex couples often have to do an exhausting amount of vetting when it comes to selecting wedding professionals. It's not always apparent whether we'll be treated with the same openness and kindness that is routinely extended to other couples. With that in mind, we appreciated so much that Carrie's website and social media show a diversity of couples and that she does not shy away from prominently representing a full spectrum of love. It saved us from having to send awkward emails, and it made us feel welcome before we even sent our first message to Carrie. She sets an excellent example for wedding professionals, and we hope more will see her example and follow it! We appreciate so. very. much. everything Carrie did for us. To begin, Carrie and Ganer are the most awesome photographer couple EVER! Although we did not have Ganer at our wedding, he was there for another shoot we did and they are amazing! Another assistant, Rachel, joined Carrie on our wedding day and we loved her just as much! We got so many compliments on both of them (knew we would) and how quickly they worked and how fun they were to work with. We have known Carrie (kinda) since before we got engaged and basically had her booked in our mind long before we were ready to book a photographer! We left the first Starbucks meeting almost in tears because we loved her so much. This review has been too long in coming (sorry Carrie!) but where do I begin?? I've followed her work for years and I started emailing her before my husband even proposed to me just to make sure we could get a date she had open. After meeting with her, my then-fiance was as excited as I was to shoot with her and that's saying something! She made us feel super comfortable which was important as we're both very shy, awkward people. She willingly froze with us for winter engagement pics (wind chills in the teens, no joke) and they were so so beautiful!! She was easy to communicate with, having automatic emails set up even when she was out of town so we knew we weren't being ignored. She faithfully captured the most meaningful parts of our small little wedding day and made us feel like we were her favorite clients, even though our decor wasn't the most trendy and it wasn't very high budget! I can't stop looking back at our gallery in love, especially the moments she got that we missed the day of. She is wonderful. Book her.

Hiring Carrie and Ganer to document our wedding was one of the absolute best decisions we made throughout our planning process. I would have been 100% comfortable choosing to work with Sur La Lune just from initially looking at their stunning work online, but from our first meeting with Carrie, I knew we had found a perfect fit. Ditto what all the other reviews say re: nice, fun, supportive, talented, etc. All of that was important to us and so very appreciated, but what mattered most to me when I was planning our wedding was very difficult to find addressed in most reviews; so here I am, trying to fill that gap - - - SLL are authentic documentarians. Carrie's photos speak for themselves. She's got a trained eye for composition, contrast, depth of field, all that jazz. But what I love most about our photos, is that when we sit down and flip through our wedding book, the photos truly reflect and capture the vibe of our day. They're not styled or filtered or pinterest perfect - - instead, they're what our beautiful, meaningful day actually looked and felt like for us. Carrie took the time to get to know us, and that plus her enthusiasm and talent resulted in photos that look like the photos I would have taken myself if I could (if I were a super talented photograph capable of capturing my own wedding day...). She didn't just document/execute our vision, she wholeheartedly jumped in and explored it, finding the beauty and meaning in all the moments, big and small. SLL's gonna nail that sparkler sendoff photo, but if you, like me, hate cheesy sendoffs and most wedding stuff in general, but are madly in love and have decided to have a wedding anyway, in your own way, on your own terms; well SLL is definitely gonna nail that too.

Where to even begin. From start to finish, working with Sur La Lune was nothing short of amazing; it's honestly so hard to put into words just *how* remarkable. We had been friends with both Carrie and Ganer for years and knew Carrie would have to be the one to shoot our wedding - no question. Her photos are stunning and capture real moments. The entire process was so effortless, from our first call to day-of coordination, which included travel! They will travel anywhere and it is definitely worth it. This effortlessness was such a gift in the chaos that can be wedding planning. Carrie is true professional while also making you feel like you're her closest friend. Sam and I were glued to Instagram, seeing all of the beautiful photos being posted, getting more and more excited each day for our own wedding. They’re all beautiful, that much is obvious. But a glimpse into the different galleries shows the uniqueness she is able to capture for each of her couples. The wedding day was more amazing than we could ever have imagined only made more perfect by Carrie and Ganer. They weren't just our documentarians, they were our support system that day. Keeping us grounded while also lifting us up on to this marriage-bliss-cloud. They made us feel confidant, cared for, and loved. We had fun the entire day, never felt fatigued by photos because every set up or arrangement was done while playing and laughing (and/or happy crying). I swear, going through Carrie's photos was like going through a flip book. That’s how many moments were captured. Every photo is amazing and perfect in its own way. Wedding days are a whirlwind, and often times the photos reconstruct the day - they retell the wedding day narrative as time passes. When you work with Sur La Lune, you get to relive the entire day, from start to finish, without missing a beat AND without missing any of the emotions felt by you or your guests. I have no idea how they are in a million different places at once, but I'm near certain every single hug from our wedding is documented. You can feel their passion for their clients and their love through the photographs, which makes the memories that much sweeter. It is truly incredible what Carrie and Ganer are able to do. Their dedication is unwavering. Their humility is inspiring. And their talents are unparalleled.
