When COVID forced our original wedding plans to be discarded, Carrie was so accommodating and supportive of our plans as we pivoted, adjusted, and embraced the disappointment that early 2020 brought to the world. Carrie and Ganer ended up photographing our tiny immediate-family only ceremony, and did a beautiful job of capturing our love and the sweet memories created. Then, when we were able to have our "Happily Ever After" (or Wedding 2.0), where we renewed our vows and celebrated with all of our loved ones at our wedding reception, Carrie and Ganer showed up again! I feel so lucky to have had the unique privilege of getting to work with them twice. Nobody captures emotion, love, and pure joy like they can. If you're going to splurge on anything wedding expense-related, splurge on a good photographer who you know will fulfill your dreams (and probably surpass your expectations as well!). e. Like so many couples in 2020, we had to change our plans, but Carrie was so flexible and accommodating! We just got our photos back and I can't stop looking at them! Both Carrie and Ganer are just so talented, especially at capturing candids and making use of space. We were married in a friend's backyard, and even our guests commented at how creative they were at utilizing the household decorations in our photographs. They are both so good at making everyone feel comfortable and directing people to get the best shots! Lune! I knew before meeting them that amazing photos was their game and I loved how candid photos was an obvious talent but it wasn’t until experiencing it first hand that I fell head over heels. Carrie is a master at finding the best lighting and making magic. She made us feel confident and relaxed... something I’ve never had before. She was truly in the zone. When I got engaged, I reached out to her basically immediately (before telling most of my friends and family, lol) to find out when she would be in town so we could do an engagement shoot (we live in California). I was so excited to finally work with her formally. We wandered through the arts district of Downtown LA, and Carrie and Ganer made us feel so comfortable and playful and pretty. My fiancé (now husband) and I both can’t stand overly posed, cheesy couples photography. We wanted our pictures feel natural and to reflect our personality; Carrie and Ganer absolutely created a space for that. The photos are so full of energy and color and play. I especially appreciate the way Carrie reliably overshoots - she captures every moment possible. My husband is an archetypal Virgo who is constantly tidying up after me, and because Carrie insists on shooting even the “in-between” moments, I was able to compile this hilarious series of all the moments my husband fixed my hair during the session. They’re silly and they make me laugh, but they also totally capture the way that he loves and cares for me. It’s something I didn’t even really notice until she captured it on camera, which is part of her magic as a photographer. COVID WEDDINGS: Are you a “COVID couple” torn about how to proceed with your wedding? Do you feel like all your dreams for your big day have been dashed and nothing feels certain and everything sucks? I FEEL YOU. My husband and I had to cancel our 90 person wedding and rethink everything. For us, that meant scrapping our previous plans, finding a beautiful local Airbnb, picking the select few people we could have present with us in person (we opted for 6), and inviting everyone else via Zoom. Even though we fell we were settling, making the best out of a bad situation, etc., it turned out to be so much more intimate and wonderful than we could have imagined - I wouldn’t change it. Our digital guests actually said it was the most heartfelt, honest, touching ceremony they had ever witnessed, and we had people crying along with us during our vows all over the country. We saved so much money, and we got to be way more emotionally present during our wedding day than we could have if it was this massive event we were managing. Having lived it, that's the energy you'll want and need on any wedding day, but especially in the context of COVID. But, Carrie was the ultimate hype woman that made everyone feel so comfortable and relaxed. We did a mini-elopement and I contacted Carrie the week before. I had already picked her months in advance, but of course plans kept changing. She was so accommodating and supportive through all of the changed plans. She also helped with impromptu day of coordination. Everyone that attended commented on how natural and effortless the day felt thanks to Carrie. She is so very kind, patient, energizing, and artistic. We feel so truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with her. I’ve never thought of myself as photogenic, but with Carrie’s artistic eye I felt like I could be on the cover of Brides magazine! Truly, the best ever.

She held my hand through a lot and showed up to my elopement and absolutely rocked it. I have never felt so comfortable in front a camera. I received her previews and I was blown away. Floored. ut photographers in the Bowling Green area and their openness to capturing intimate moments during a Pakistani Muslim engagement ceremony at a mosque. Not only that - this was a first for our small community, with two of the oldest kids in the community deciding to commit their lives to one another. When we saw your page and the work that you have so lovingly captured, there was no more fear or hesitation. We could see the love and light radiating through your photos - regardless of the subject’s backgrounds, religious beliefs, or whom they love. When it came time for the engagement our nerves melted away when Carrie and Ganer greeted us with their smiles and excitement. For two people feeling self conscious about taking “couple-y” photos, we felt at ease and had so much fun working with you all. The pictures that day captured the whirlwind of excitement and love we were feeling that day. And you two went the extra mile to document the moments our community was sharing in the newly built community center of the mosque - it was the first time the mosque hosted an event like this and we are blessed to have beautiful pictures that remind us of that milestone in our community’s history! I remember telling Carrie that we were committed to having you be our wedding photographer after the heartwarming and amazing experience we had with you at our engagement. Both our families were so impressed, not only with your work, but your ability to connect with people - through and outside the camera lens. At our mendhi ceremony Carrie and Ganer got all the colors, the glitter, the intimate moments within and between ceremonies. We became the stars of our ownBollywood movie! Usman and I would see Ganer’s smile and Carrie's pleased expression after getting a good moment and we were reminded of how you both have become more than photographers to us - we value your friendship and our door in DC/wherever we end up in the future is always open to y’all! As we went through the pictures from the religious ceremony at the mosque/nikkah, the number of “awws” as we went through these photos can not be counted. Usman and I remember like yesterday the days we would go to that mosque - it was a second home to us and our community helped build it from the ground up. I am so so grateful that we took those pictures in the spot we used to read Quran in weekend classes together. At the wedding ceremony, Carrie, Ganer and Rachel captured the glamorous, beautiful reception that was the perfect way to celebrate our marriage with our family and friends. First of all, having Carrie and Rachel over at the house was so much fun. Usman and I were in our element - we felt like models in those Pakistani bridal magazines haha. Or even better, we felt like royalty. You all were so sweet and took the time to pay attention to details while laughing and enjoying the moments with us. As for the event itself - Wow. Every photo, every look/smile/dance move/pose - wow. We were as blown away as we were when we first saw the venue all done up for the first time. We have some beautiful portraits and family photos as well. They didn't just capture some moments here and there, but really showed the unfolding- the story of the day. They delivered more pictures than we anticipated. Carrie and Ganer even gave us some preview pictures that we could look at while we were on our honeymoon! They were very organized and help guide us through the process so that we were more efficient and could spend more thoughtful time with our guests. One of the things I really appreciated was that they asked for a list ahead of time of family portraits that we wanted to have following the ceremony. This sped up the process, and my husband and I were able to actually have some time at cocktail hour to mingle with guests. They are extremely organized and efficient, and really did a great job of wrangling together large groups of people. Carrie and Ganer are amazingly talented, genuine, and caring. We had an outdoor wedding, and at one point Ganer was concerned my husband might be starting to get sunburned, so he gave him some sunscreen lotion. These two really went above and beyond! My husband has some of our wedding photos hung in his office and folks often come by and ask him what magazine he got them from!

spect of the day and how things were going to go down. Sav was with my now wife during the day getting her ready. Yes I said wife as SurLaLune is very LGBTQ 🏳️‍🌈 friendly. Sav was always there running around making sure the train fluff was how it needed to be. She’s definitely a pro at this. My now wife is a nervous person and doesn’t like attention on her but Sav kept her at ease and captured beautiful moments. During the day Carrie was there as a cheerleader and making sure everything was going as planned. She’s not afraid to step in to make sure the day goes as the couple wishes. Because some of my family wasn’t there to help me in my dress and jewelry she stepped in and made sure my necklace was on the correct way. After the wedding we got previews back within 3 DAYS!!! That’s with the holidays around the corner! Married Dec 7 and previews by the 10th! The day would not have been the same with out her and Sav there. I would definitely recommend Sur La Lune for any of your photography needs. We will definitely be hitting her up for any of our future photography needs! 

re to capture. During the Wedding Carrie and Ganer flew out to California in between Christmas and New Years to photograph our wedding. They are go-with-the-flow kind of people and with the stress of a wedding, this attitude is MUCH needed. Carrie and Ganer captured every single moment, there isn't 1 thing that they missed. Carrie went out of her way to find the best spots. She was so creative. It was like doing a photoshoot with a best friend. They make you feel so comfortable, calm, & silly. After the Wedding 3 days after and she was already sending me previews (again this is during the holidays & most photographers you have to wait A LOT longer even when it's not the holidays) The pictures are the most amazing & beautiful images. I cannot express this enough. I love Carrie's photography style , she is a very organic photographer. She let the special moments happen naturally instead of creating these awkward staged images. Not only can you access the images through her website and create photobooks, but she sends you this beautiful flash drive so you can store your images. It was very hot on my wedding day, and after being outside taking photos for a long time, Carrie noticed I was getting dizzy and quickly ended the session so we could go back inside and I could get some water to cool down. Sometimes you need others to look out for your well being, and I’m so thankful Carrie was there. Overall, I would recommend Sur La Lune for anyone who wants more natural photos, from someone who pours all her soul into ensuring they are as beautiful as your love.

Even in our posed pictures they've managed to capture something extra that tells a story about us and the relationships we have with our friends and family. From the beginning, Carrie was warm, welcoming, and shared a genuine excitement for our big day (even though it was over 1 ½ years away). ne was who I wanted to document our special day. And then when I got their price, I was floored that their services were much less than most other (and much less experienced) Kentucky photographers. Beautiful, photogenic and authentic pictures was the thing I was most looking forward to, right after marrying my life partner and best friend of course. And I view these pictures as a gift to ourselves, and Carrie and Ganer delivered well beyond our expectations. And this has nothing to do with my self esteem, but this girl can take an awkward picture, so I was really focused on finding someone I felt comfortable and confident with. As soon as I met Carrie for our first meeting, I knew that I had found who I was looking for (I’m sure talking about cats helped). She was so organized and communicative the entire process, and even helped us by suggesting a schedule and time frame, which I had no idea how to do. When it came to the day of the wedding, Carrie and Ganer arrived early and stayed late. I didn’t know it was possible to feel comfortable with someone pointing a camera at you all day, but Carrie and Ganer made it feel natural, like old friends. We had no doubt that we were going to receive beautiful photos that were uniquely representative of us. Honestly, by the end of the day, I told them that, although as a client I totally appreciated it, their services were worth well more than what they were charging. We were in an airport for our honeymoon when we received the previews, and we both just started crying because they were so sweet and so beautiful and perfectly represented us. I look at them and they make me feel exactly the same way I did that day, just overflowing with love. I cannot say enough good things about these people, and we are very thankful that we were able to find them.

Carrie (and Alex) overshoot and over deliver, and really what more could you want in a photographer? She got it all. Carrie also graciously accommodated my extensive list of family combinations, and stayed on schedule the entire time. Looking through our photos is like stepping back in time to our wedding day and for that I will be eternally grateful. Carrie's personality is infectious, her talent is undeniable, and her attention to detail is out of this world. If I could do it all over again there are a few things I would change, but booking Carrie as my photographer is not one of them.

It all started to grow from there. We met Carrie over Skype and discussed our wedding details, each asking questions to get to know each other. Once it came time to discuss the contract and deposit, we already had a good line of communication and the process was so easy even though we weren't in the same city! Moving on to our engagement session, Carrie was very detailed and clear about where and when we were meeting and scoped out a really good spot for us! The whole session was us playing around with different lighting, poses, and areas. We talked about New Orleans, a common love for all of us. It truly felt like meeting a friend, and I couldn't wait to see Carrie again at the wedding! Fast forward a couple months, and we're getting married! Carrie and Ganer show up all smiles, even with the threat of rain all day. Their love for each other and all around awesome personalities were infectious on our special day! I tend to be a high strung individual, but with Carrie and Ganer by our side I wasn't worried at all. We really just went with the flow of the day, and where it took us and the pictures couldn't be more amazing! It was so fun to do whimsical poses, and just have moments of love and fun. Truly, Carrie and Ganer were working nonstop on our day, and so many people were touched by their dedication and passion. We had previews two days after the wedding, and loved gushing over them during our honeymoon! I wasn't expecting so many shots in the previews, but was definitely pleased! I got to see so many aspects of the day after the fact that I didn't see as the bride. Not long after we were back to our normal routine, Carrie was in touch to let us know when our full photos would be ready! I was shocked that it was 6 weeks since our wedding and our photos were coming back! I thought it was so sweet that Carrie was keeping us updated, and even expressed that it would be great if we would take the time to have a special meal, drink, evening to look through all the albums. We did exactly that, and had many moments of surprise when we saw pictures that we had no clue were being taken! Carrie and Ganer truly captured all the little details, as well as many "quiet" and special moments between my husband and I. To top it all off, Carrie sent us the sweetest package that included our USB with all the photos! It was a delight to see a little thank you note, champagne jelly beans, and a couple of prints in the package!! Carrie and Ganer truly go above and beyond to make their photography more than just a wedding experience. They're shooting for life and love and passion. It really shows in their work and how they interact with everyone in the SLL family. We are truly blessed to be apart of that family, and I couldn't recommend Carrie enough! P.S. Besides how much my husband and I love Carrie and Ganer, my family and wedding guests love them just as much!

Carrie is very talented at capturing intimate moments that other people might miss. My fiancé and I are big fans of using natural light for photos and to not look posed, which are two components of Carrie’s shooting philosophy. She was willing to travel to St. Louis for our intimate wedding ceremony and reception. Needless to say, we booked Carrie immediately after our initial meeting. We had a short, engagement session in May 2017 with Carrie a few months before our July wedding. It was AMAZING, fun, and a relaxing break in the middle of wedding planning. From the time we initially contacted her through delivery of our photos. Carrie brought us a sense of calm, enthusiasm, and love. Carrie is not only a photographer and documentarian, but a cheerleader for love and happiness. During the planning phase, she emailed us with sweet words of encouragement at the exact moment that we needed them. One of our favorite moments from our wedding day was in between the ceremony and the reception. We didn’t have a wedding party so it was just the three of us walking around a park taking pictures. It was a really nice, relaxing break in the day, and really helped bring the focus back to just the two of us and our love for each other. I was searching for our wedding photographer, I found Sur La Lune’s page on The Knot and went to their website. I found myself pouring over all of these beautiful wedding photos and knew right away that I had to contact them A.S.A.P. Everyone looked so genuinely happy and you could actually feel the joy in the photos. I put in a request for more information and Carrie got back to me right away (within minutes!!) We soon set up a Skype interview to meet Carrie since we are from out of town (she travels, too!!) and we booked with her the very next day. Six weeks before the big day, Carrie sent us the most wonderfully organized and detailed PDF describing her photojournalistic style and a walk-through of all of the parts of a wedding day. She really gives of her whole self to make your wedding day photography everything you ever imagined. She even asked me to send her a Pinterest board of my vision for our wedding photography. Not a single detail was left out and I knew we were in the very best hands. Fast forward to our wedding day, Carrie was phenomenal. She is so kind, fun, genuine, and professional. And the photos?? THERE. ARE. SO. MANY!!!! And they are all IMMACULATE!!! The quality of each and every one is incredible and you can tell how much time and care was put into making each one so perfect. When we look at the photos, we get to relive that very special day. ing through some Facebook photos, I came across Meg + Jess' wedding. Here I was scrolling through the wedding day of some complete strangers, and I was overcome with emotion! ALL THE FEELS! I knew I had to book them immediately. Probably the fastest, and best decision I made (other than marrying my husband) for that day! Carrie went ABOVE and beyond. She is such an excellent source of comfort and advice, and was pumping me up in the days before my wedding (when I was the most stressed!). I was worried about taking 'getting ready' photos at my house and requested that none be shot as it is not very picturesque - and Carrie 'popped by' for a 'few' shots, and let me tell you -- I'm so glad she didn't listen to me! They really added to the story of our day! Carrie is so authentic, sweet, and caring -- it really shows in her photographs. After my wedding, I felt drained, and said to my husband that I didn't have any fun on that day (its so stressful!). Carrie's ears must have been burning as our photos were promptly delivered to us within WEEKS. As I scrolled through the photos, there were so many (too many?!?!) of myself doubled over in laughter and crying tears of pure joy. She caught so many gorgeous, intimate, and priceless moments. After our wedding, we had guests mention to us how AMAZING our photographer was -- "She really WORKED!" Some actually thought she was a close friend or member of the family. I feel as though we got her services at a steal for being out of state, the amount of coverage we got, and the quality of pictures. Looking through the full album (which is like a ton pictures!) I still haven't found one I don't like. It's so great because she really understands how special the moments she captures are, and she encouraged my husband and I to really take the time to sit down and look through them together with some background music, and just relive the moments. Having recently been married herself, she knows very well the emotions that can come over you on your wedding day and how special it is to capture every one. You will not be disappointed by booking her to shoot anything!

I never felt like the photography, even couples sessions or the long line of family photos, separated me from the wedding. It felt totally okay to take a 3 minute break to talk to my Uncle and Aunt after snapping a picture with them, before they left. Similarly, though they took amazing photos during our ceremony, I didn't even notice they were there, and neither did any of my guests whom I have spoken to about their high quality work. However, the very best thing about Sur La Lune is their ability to capture the day of your wedding as it really is. I tell everyone that I feel like a total corn ball saying this, but when I look at our wedding photos, I remember how our wedding day felt to me. People are laughing, people are hugging (and hugging and hugging), and everyone looks like their real selves. Carrie and Ganer were truly able to capture the sentiment of our wedding day: fun, laid back, supportive, and emotional. You could not ask for better photographers. If it is within your power to book them, you absolutely should.

Our wedding party still talks about how, rather than drudgery, they had such a great time doing our photos and bonus - it didn't take forever! Now that we have the photos back, we're even happier. We love the detail! Together, Carrie and Ganer captured all the little moments we really treasure from that day. By the time our pictures were finished, my pilot husband was already deployed again. I can't begin to tell you what it meant to me, seeing his handsome, smiling face and remembering all those treasured moments that meant so much to us! As an aside, I should add that Carrie and Ganer were flexible and great with accommodating our crazy military schedule. We weren't around for all the planning. Travis was in CA and I was in NJ, with our wedding in the middle! We did lots over the phone and email, and met when and where we could. They were awesome! We were blessed to have worked with lots of great vendors for our wedding (go with Catering St. Louis, too!), but we seriously do not have enough good things to say about Sur la Lune! Book them, book them, book them!

The number of wonderful candid shots that we received, of ourselves and a variety of loved ones, is testament to how important a photographer's personality and ability to work with your guests is just as important as their more traditionally valued skills. If their wonderful portfolio is not enough to persuade you, I strongly encourage couples to meet with Carrie and Ganer in person (or better yet, book an engagement session! our session with just Carrie made it very clear Sur la Lune was a great choice). The only complaint we could have was that we received so many excellent, edited shots that picking which ones to print was a little overwhelming.

So when people would make suggestions on the kinds of pictures we should've been taking, the first thing she would do was make sure that was what we wanted. However, she wasn't against taking suggestions. She wanted to make sure the day was everything we wanted to be. She is very adaptable to whatever style of photographs you want her to shoot. For example, I had seen her journalism-style photos and her posed photos, and my husband and I are very in-the-moment people. So she asked us what style we wanted, one or the other, or both? Carrie asked us if we wanted a lot of black and white, color, a mixture photos. And she created a collage of pictures to use as inspiration three weeks before the wedding, based off of pictures I had given her to mimic or types of photos I liked, so that we already had in mind what she would shoot on the big day. Carrie had a lot of creative ideas to give to me! And the best thing, I never noticed her when she was up close, she really respected timing and space. She just knows how to get those beautiful shots! Carrie truly is amazing.Recently she moved to Central Illinois, and I have a feeling that she is going to do very well there. She's professional, courteous, and most importantly makes the day seem so special. She never stopped smiling with me.
