Worst experience ever. We had scheduled an appointment, which was only an hour when other salons had 2 hr ones. After two dress and 20 minutes a very rude older woman told us she had nothing better for us to try on!! She never asked our price range or what we liked. She TOLD us what my daughter should wear and chose the two dresses we were allowed to see. Save your time and go to Lovely Bride for a wonderful, welcoming experience.
I had picked out my dream dress almost two years ago. At which time my complete measurements were taken and the dress was going to be constructed based on my measurements with a few changes in design. We were moving the back of the dress all the way down to my lower back. The dress came in and because it was supposed to be completely fitted to my body I was expecting the alterations to be the hem and bussel. The back was not as low as I wanted but they said they couldn’t go that low or it would ruin the structure of the dress… even though that’s not what they told me when they approved the move. When we tried the dress on before the bottom was hacked it was in triangle shapes like a 5 year old had cut it my mom obviously freaked out because it looked awful for an expensive dress at which time they said they would fix it there was also a fold in the middle of the dress that made me look like there was a roll in my stomach, I am 5”11 and weigh 128lbs therefore I was not having it, they said they would fix is when I came back by the 9th to pick up the dress because my wedding was the 11th. I had gone back only to try on the dress and have the same issue. They claimed to have fixed it but clearly it was not they said I could come back in an hour and it would be fixed. I live an hour away so I had to find some place to go while it was done I came back and it was fixed however I could tell the sides by my legs were a little loose but at this point I’m already in tears because it’s two days before my wedding and it’s not fitting the way I want. As I was going to leave they tried to hit me with a $700 alteration bill some of which my mother had already paid saying sides and what not I said why does it say you did the sides when the dress was measures to me and should be trailered to me and nothing was done with the sides since it didn’t fit all the way anyway? She said they would fix it but I was balling my eyes out because I wasn’t going to let them do more harm to the dress… as I’m crying the owner is in the back on the computer laughing looking at pictures on the internet with her assistant they wouldn’t let me leave without paying for the alterations I don’t believe they ever did or should have had to expect the hem and bussel. They also had my vail rapped in a hanger and in a closed bag. I never opened the bag before getting to my wedding venue to find holes in my vail…… unbelievable for a $900 vail….. they were completely insensitive and did not care at all plus they kept pulling charges out of no where. I would NEVER use them again. They took what was supposed to be the most exciting time of my life and turned it into the biggest money grab making me an emotional wreck before my wedding
Susan Deborah Bridal was the last of 4 bridal shops we checked out during my search for the perfect dress. It was the one! What I loved about my experience here, was that I could actually browse for my own gowns with the help of the employees. They let me pick some and they chose some. Since it is a small store, they gave me special attention and allowed me to take my time, I never felt rushed at all like I did at Heart to Heart Bridal. The gowns here are gorgeous, couture but obviously expensive, so only go here if you have a budget of 3k+. My dress was over my budget and I probably shouldn't have tried it on :) But in that regard, the girl helping me tried to only show me gowns in my budget but I insisted on this one, I just had a feeling and I was right! I chose a gorgeous Eve of Milady ball gown and am so happy with my choice, everyone was amazed by it! I loved working with the seamstress here, she was so honest and talented, a true natural with alterations. At times she was "too" honest which I fully appreciated but that seems to be the reason for some negative reviews. I thought she wanted the best for me, and she even made me the cutest mask from the extra materials on my gown! The owner gave me great tips for my under garments and accessories, they know what they are talking about! They also had sanitizer at the ready and were safe about wearing masks. My only cons are: They need more plus size samples, I had to squeeze into size 10-12 for every dress I tried on. The prices seem higher than average, even for couture. Especially for accessories or bridal party/ MOB dresses. For example, since I am plus sized there was an extra $300-600 added on to the final cost for extra material. I think this is a standard practice but it seems high. Also the accessories like the veil ran higher than I saw at other shops. The veil I tried on in the store seemed higher quality than the one I received and although I loved it, not sure it was worth the $900 price tag. There was no brand name on the veil. Also for the price, their gowns should come in a higher quality garment bag. My garment bag looked cheap and was falling apart, plus the plastic hanger broke under the weight of my dress. If I'm spending a huge chunk of my wedding budget here, there need to provide more high quality accessories. My other con is I wish they tried multiple times to reach me about my dress arriving. I accidently deleted the first message thinking it was spam, and turns out when I called to check my dress had arrived 6 weeks ago! Multiple calls would be nice! Overall, if you are looking for couture gowns this is one of the only places to go in the Rochester area. Trust their opinions but keep an open mind to finding accessories elsewhere unless you fall in love with something there. You will get extra attention here and can take your time shopping unlike most bridal shops, they make you feel beautiful no matter your size, highly recommend!
I did not actually purchase my wedding dress at Susan Deborah (I got a dress in NYC) but used Susan Deborah for my alterations as my mother had gotten her M-I-L dress there (and also her wedding dress years before!). The staff at Susan Deborah was absolutely amazing. They were so pleasant with me even though I did not get my dress there. The alterations were amazing and so detailed. I even found a jumpsuit to wear to the afterparty that they were able to alter and give to me for a discount! I had a wonderful experience.
I am so glad that I found Susan Deborah Bridal! My mom and I went together, and the women there were so friendly and welcoming. It's a beautiful shop with amazing lighting and mirrors. I felt pretty fancy trying on gowns there. Our consultant listened to what I was looking for, but also used her own wisdom and experience to recommend some dresses for me. It turned out that the first one she picked for me was the one! I really trusted everyone who worked there, and I knew that they would help me look and feel amazing. The dress was something out of a dream and with the help of the skillful seamstress, it fit flawlessly. They even helped me figure out my bouquet, hair, and shoes! I can't thank them all enough for making me look and feel so beautiful!
I had a great experience at Susan Deborah from start to finish. Every time we were in the store the staff was very professional and helpful. Even at my last fitting three days before the wedding I had to have some extra work done to the dress to make it fit just right and they never made a fuss about having to adjust the dress several times in order to make me comfortable. I loved my dress and the experience I had with Susan Deborah!!
My experience with Susan Deborah purchasing my wedding dress was just perfect from the day I found my dress to the day I had my final fitting. I live in Manhattan, but am from Rochester and knew I wanted to purchase my dress in my hometown with my mom, but still have the selection I’d get in New York City. Susan Deborah had the designers I liked, but the best part was the experience. It was only the second bridal boutique I’d visited when my mom and I stopped in and I never expected to pick out my dress that day. I’d gone in with a specific dress in mind, but after trying it on realized it wasn’t the dress for me. Chela is a true ‘wedding dress whisperer’. She brought a different dress into the dressing room and insisted I try it on. I initially wasn’t sold when I saw it, I was convinced it wouldn’t flatter me, but boy was I wrong. I put the dress on and it fit like a glove. The style, embellishments and cut were spectacular, I fell in love with the dress instantly. The rest of the processes was just as enjoyable, you can tell Chela really cares about her brides. Through all of my fittings, picking out my jewelry and my custom veil I never felt rushed or pressured. There was usually only one, maybe two brides in the salon and attention is focused on you. I was extremely pleased with how everything turned out and received endless compliments on my wedding day!
My daughter and I went to Susan Deborah Bridal in search of a mother of the bride dress. When we met Chela and told her a little about the wedding she brought me the perfect dress to try on. It was not even the color I thought I would wear. But it was beautiful! It was more than I intended to spend but Chela helped with that as well. Alterations were done there and they also were exceptional. When I put the dress on on the day of the wedding I knew it was worth every penny. It was beautiful, the color was perfect, the fit was perfect and I received so many compliments that night! I can't say enough about my experience at Susan Deborah Bridal. Thank you, Chela!
I recently purchased my wedding gown from Susan Deborah and could not have been more thrilled with it or the service I received. The salon carried the designer but not the specific dress I was looking for however they were able to find the dress at a trunk show and brought it in for me to try on! They were honest and gave me undivided attention each time I went. My fittings went smoothly and the dress fit perfectly the day of. I would definitely recommend this salon, everyone was wonderful!
Like every bride to be, I searched high and low for reviews on the vendors I wanted to use. I was a little taken back by some of the negative reviews...but decided to go anyway. The negative reviews COULDNT BE MORE WRONG. Susan Deborah Bridal was everything I had hoped a bridal salon would be. Chela is attentive she only schedules 1 bride at a time. She answered all of the questions my mother and I had, she made sure the gown I went to the store specifically for was out and ready. If you are a bride who is wanting "yes men" or have a small budget this is not the place for you. Chela is honest and straight to the point. But if you want individual attention and an honest opinion Chela is the woman for you!
Owner is extremely rude. We stopped over just to look at a rehearsal dinner dress for my sister and the owner wouldn't even let us in the front door. We just wanted to browse and not even necessarily try things on yet as it was our first day out looking and we were trying to figure out style. Would not recommend.
My mother and I went to Susan Deborah expecting just to look, as I had only gotten engaged the week before. I had some idea of what I liked but not exactly. When I met Chela and told her my vague ideas, she said she knew exactly what I should get. The very first dress I put on was so perfect my mother and I both had tears in our eyes. Chela insisted that I try on 2 more just to be sure, and they were lovely but I had my heart set on the first one. It was about $1000 out of our price range, but Chela offered to sell me the sample for a price much closer to my budgeted amount. She stored the dress for me at no cost for close to a year. The seamstress had to take the dress in 2 sizes (did I mention it was a lace dress) and hem it several inches. This involved snipping off the existing lace hem, removing the extra inches of lace, then reattaching the lace hem. The top was also entirely lace and she had to almost entirely reconstruct the high neck and cap sleeves to fit my body. When I went in for the next to last fitting, she could see that the cap sleeves were uncomfortable so she took them apart in front of me and reworked them into straps. When I went to pay, I was surprised to find Chela had given us a discount on the alterations! I was extremely pleased with the final product and the service I received at Susan Deborah.
This bridal salon was a perfect fit for me. My mother-in-law and I went dress shopping on a whim over a year before the wedding. We found the perfect dress at Susan Deborah Bridal.
They were incredibly meticulous during the fittings and my dress fit like a glove.
I really appreciated the care they took during this process!
The most beautiful gowns, great services, on-site altering. Wonderful to work with.
My sister and I both got our dresses at Susan Deborah. We could not be more different in our style of wedding or body type. The women at Susan Deborah picked a dress for me that I never would have chosen myself and I was without words. Aside from that all of their custom alterations made the dress even more outstanding. Incredible insight to their profession and top of the line seamstress work.
whenever i thought of buying my wedding gown, i imagined the experince i received at Susan Deborah. Everytime i walked in the shop they welcomed me with a smile. they treated us as though we were their only wedding party!
their alterations were done right in the shop, which made it much easier for all of us. they were flexible with my out of town bridesmaids making sure to work around their schedules.
an overall great experience!!! :)
I loved Chella! She will give you an honest but truthful opinion! The dresses are slightly more expensive but you get your value. They did a great job and I loved my dress more each time I saw it :)
Excellent service and professionalism. Susan Deborah Bridal helped me find my dream gown and veil. Throughout all of my dealings with the store, they made sure I had a "Princess" experience that I will never forget. I went to a couple of other shops that I just felt I was another bride to them but I felt unique and special at Susan Deborah! They also have an exceptional seamstress who did all of my alterations.
I got my dress at susan deborah after going to 3 other place. I told the owner what i was looking for and she pulled the exact dress! I bought it and it was such a pleasure to work with the ladies there. Very nice people and they know what they are doing! Verry knowledgeable. Gorgeous selection of dresses there.
Very nice, high quality dresses. A bit overpriced. Service is not very good. The manager lacks social skills--not very friendly, a bit cold.
Chella is fantastic!
This was the last dress store I visited before finding "the one". While I absolutely loved my Priscilla of Boston dress, I wished I could have gotten it at another store locally! The owner and seamstress are EXTREMELY pushy, and it's not that their opinions are necessary wrong, but sometimes you disagree and want what you like - I'm talking about everything from alterations to shoes to jewelry to veils! If I could have gotten the dress of my dreams anyplace else in the Rochester area, I definitely would have. AND to top it off, my dress ended up being a little bit too long (despite 3 fittings)! Unfortunately, this is the only store in the area that sells this quality of dress, so I guess you either buy there or buy out of town...
