Meghan was a joy to work with. We had "somewhat" of an idea what we wanted. But, nothing concrete. After talking to her at the tasting, she made it very easy to make our decision. We ended up going with different flavored cupcakes and a single layer my husband and I cut. It was delicious!

Wow !!! Most beautiful and delicious cake I ever had ! I wasn't sure what I wanted at first and ended up changing up the style a few times but Megan was so easy to work with and the cake turned out perfect ! I'm not kidding, you need this cake !

We asked Meghan to step outside of her comfort zone for our 3-tiered cake with edible gold decoration. Not only was the cake beautiful, but it was also delicious and all of our guests loved it!

Sweet & Savory went above and beyond all my expectations when it came to a wedding cake! I was a gluten-free and dairy-free bride who spent hours searching for a local bakery that was able to make a cake that I would be able to enjoy on the day of my wedding. When I finally found Sweet & Savory and read all the amazing reviews, I was sold! Sweet & Savory could not have been more accommodating for my dietary needs. My wedding cake was absolutely delicious (it was gluten-free and dairy-free)! It was also beautifully decorated. Sweet & Savory also made sheet cakes that were cut up for my guests who were not gluten-free or dairy-free. I highly recommend Sweet & Savory! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be able to eat wedding cake on my wedding day (something that I never thought I would have been able to do after finding out I had these diet restrictions). I cannot thank you enough!

Meghan was amazing to work with, and made us a delicious cake that we loved. She incorporated our vision perfectly, and all the cake flavors were to die for. She also makes a complimentary layer for your anniversary which is, if you'll excuse the pun, just icing on the cake!

Meghan is truly magical with gluten free cakes! Both my husband and my mom are gluten free so we ordered a lemon gluten free cake to cut at the wedding, plus two different kinds of wine infused cupcakes since we were married a winery. My mom ended up also ordering a gluten free cake for my bridal shower, which tasted even better then the wedding cake we tasted, so Meghan used that recipe for our wedding cake! We ran out of cake pretty quickly because the non-gluten free people were all trying to eat the cake and not the cupcakes! Thanks again Meghan for the gorgeous cake and cupcakes that matched our theme perfectly. We cannot wait for our 1st anniversary so we can get more of that cake!

From my first meeting with Meghan, I knew Sweet & Savory would be the one to make my wedding cake. My parents and I thought her baking skills were outstanding, each layer couldn’t be better than the other. Meghan is a true professional and I couldn’t be more pleased. My non traditional Lavender cake was stunning, masterful work of art almost too pretty to eat. The flavor and texture was fabulous, loved it. All our guest were really impressed with the cake.

Meghan was an absolute amazing baker for our cupcakes/cake. She tended to our every need and it was beautiful and delicious. We would recommend her to everyone and would use her again in a heartbeat!

I have to admit I was a little bit nervous at first because there was no store front. We went to Meghan's house to taste cakes and they were all so good and she understood exactly what I wanted. We decided to go with Sweet & Savory immediately. Our wedding cake was exactly what we asked for and looked so elegant and classy. Not only was it pretty it was delicious, so many guest came up and complimented it!

Meghan did an amazing job. Our wedding cake was beautiful and we were told that it was delicious by so many of our friends and family. Meghan was easy to work with and created the cake exactly the way I envisioned. We can't wait to celebrate our anniversary with the cake we had frozen. Meghan did an impeccable job on our cakes and dessert buffet for our wedding, we highly recommend her! She was prompt and professional, and everything was absolutely delicious. All the cake flavors we selected were great (we also had red velvet with buttercream and white chiffon with coconut buttercream filling), but the white chiffon with buttercream frosting and lemon curd filling was above and beyond. Our guests were so complimentary!

Meghan was friendly professional and made a beautiful cupcake tower for our wedding!! 🎂

So we changed our minds about what we needed for desserts about fifteen times, mostly because our guest list kept growing. Sweet & Savory was great. They helped us build our dessert table appropriately and to the right size, so that all that was left was our cake topper! It was great! We had cake, tarts, and dinosaur-shaped cookies (what can I say, we're big kids at heart!) The cake was delicious, the tarts were wonderful, and everyone raved about the cookies. Also, we ordered gluten free cupcakes for a few of our pickier guests, and they said they were dynamite!

I definitely made the right choice going with Sweet & Savory. Meghan is great to work with, and was more than willing to try new recipes to get what we were looking for-- we had two layers with fresh strawberries and cream cheese filling and one with peaches. So delicious! She made the cake look the exact way I wanted, with scalloped icing and fresh flowers cascading down. It was almost too pretty to eat! Meghan was also great about making sure w didn't get too much cake and even downsized when we ended up with fewer guests than planned, which saved us some money. I highly recommend going with Sweet & Savory!

AMAZING CAKE!! I used Meghan from Sweet & Savory for our wedding cake and will use Sweet & Savory for any future events from here on out! She really made me a huge fan and customer for life! The price was phenomenal, the quality was amazing. Our wedding cake was literally my dream cake. She took what i had in mind and showed her pictures of, into a real life beautiful delicious cake!! We had three tiers and she made the buttercream different for each layer which was awesome and added variety for our guests. She is soooo friendly, and patient. On the day of our wedding our cake topper still hadn't arrived. Meghan was super comforting to me (i was freaking out on wedding day as you can imagine) and she waited there until the cake topper arrived to make sure the cake looked perfect with the flowers and topper. i was SO grateful for this. I even recommended her to my coworker who was getting married, and my coworker went with Sweet & Savory as well and loved the cake. THANK YOU AGAIN Sweet & Savory!! Can not wait for our anniversary FRESH top tier cake instead of having to freeze one! You rock Meghan.

I definitely recommend Sweet & Savory! It was a seamless experience working with Meghan. She is very professional, responsive, flexible, and her cakes are delicious! We ended up with a three layer cake, choosing a different flavor for each layer. We simply couldn't decide on just one flavor - they were all so good! Meghan was so helpful coming up with ways to get the cake we wanted within the budget we had set. Meghan was on time the day of our wedding and waited for the flowers to be delivered to she could decorate the cake. It was so beautiful and tasty!

Choosing a cake vendor was one of my hardest decisions because spending so much for a cake seemed crazy to me. I was so happy when I talked to Meghan from Sweet & Savory. Her cakes were beautiful, VERY yummy, and reasonably priced. I was so unsure of what I wanted it to look like and was between two ideas so she said she'd combine them. It ended up looking Amazing!!! It was really hot on my wedding day and it still looked so perfect that people asked if I had a fake decoration cake bc they didn't think you could have a cake so beautifully perfect! It was also soooo nice that she delivers the cake to the venue bc with all the other stuff to worry about that day and transport moving a cake would have been disasterous. We are SO happy we went with Sweet & Savory for our wedding cake. The cake was not only beautiful, but absolutely delicious. Guests could not stop talking about how delicious the cake was and we are very much looking forward our one year anniversary to eat more! Meghan is easy to work with, helpful, and quick to respond. We could not recommend her more!

We waited until the last minute to book our baker and Megan met with us just a few weeks before and she was so accommodating. Her cake was wonderful and she arranged all of the flowers on the cake the day of the wedding, which was a big relief because we did all of our own flowers and we didn't know who would do them. She was really very helpful and pulled everything together at the last minute. Very happy!

My husband and I were so happy with the beautiful (and very tasty!) wedding cake. The cake itself was absolutely gorgeous and I left ribbon and birds for them to decorate the cake and stand and she did an absolutely wonderful job to really make it stand out. It was more than I ever expected! She helped make our wedding such a special day.

Meghan made cupcakes and cake for my wedding and they were AMAZING!!! She was so great to work with and the cakes and cupcakes were exactly what I had hoped for! They were also SOOO delicious!! I am so happy I chose sweet and savory to make my wedding cake/cupcakes!!!

We had a small wedding with a few family members and friends at our home during the week so we only needed a one tiered cake. Sweet and Savory still provided a short meeting with us so that we could talk about what we wanted and we bought a trial cake that was sooo good. Even though everyone seems to like her regular buttercream, she made the other sweet American buttercream for us because I have a real sweet tooth! It was still so good. She was great to work with and we were so happy. A small cake was still so affordable and she delivered it to our house the morning of our ceremony. I highly recommend.

We had Sweet and Savory design our cake for our wedding and it was absolutely perfect. Meghan was very helpful and professional. She delivered the cake to our venue and it was everything we could have hoped for and even more. We just want to say that Meghan's wedding cake was absolutely amazing and delicious. All our guests loved it. It was decorated well, went with all our wedding including the designs. She took extra time to help us with cake, so that the August heat will not melt the cake. I will use her company again. Ps. We love her professionalism too.

Meghan did the cake for my wedding and it was the best cake I've ever had! My husband and I met with two cake bakers prior to the wedding and hers were above and beyond the better product. They taste so homemade and the buttercream is seriously the best!! We did a three tiered cake with lemon and lemon buttercream, chocolate cake with kahlua buttercream, and almond pound cake with the standard buttercream. They were each so delicious and everyone loved it! We have a good amount left over so we sectioned it off and froze it so we can enjoy it throughout the year. You also get a free anniversary cake for your one year! Very thoughtful. The cake was decorated with a rustic buttercream look and fresh flowers on the tiers. It was so beautiful and exactly what we wanted. Meghan was quick to respond to questions I had and very professional. I would recommend her to anyone!

I would highly recommend using Meghan as she was delightful to work with, the cake tasted amazing and was absolutely beautiful. We got married outside in August and the Meghan was great in helping us decide what type of cake could hold up to the heat. My husband and I received many compliments on how beautiful the cake was. Meghan also offers to bake the couple a cake for your one year anniversary, which we LOVED. It was so nice to not have to worry about that detail on the wedding day but still enjoy a truly delicious cake on our first anniversary.

Meghan made a beautiful cake for our wedding. It looked just like the photo that we provided her. It also stood up very well, despite sitting outside on a warm day. I think the flavor of the buttercream ended up tasting a little different than what we had ordered, but it still tasted great and everyone liked the cake. The service was also great. She was easy to work with, and very responsive - she scheduled a tasting for us on very late notice because we happened to be in town for one day. Overall, I would recommend her.

Meghan did an amazing job with our cake. We were very impressed with her at the tasting and her prices are very reasonable for the DC area. We ended up choosing 3 flavors for the cake: Bottom tier: white chiffon with raspberry buttercream; middle tier: lemon with strawberry marmalade and lemon buttercream; top tier: white chiffon with coconut buttercream. Many of our guests said it was the best cake they had ever tasted. The cake was beautiful and she worked with our florist to add fresh flowers. In addition, she makes a fresh cake for the anniversary rather than having the couple freeze the top tier of the cake.

I have celiacs and wanted to have part of my wedding cake be gluten free. All of the bakeries we found required that the whole cake be either regular cake or gluten free. But Sweet & Savory did not. We were able to get just a small tier of gluten free so that the rest of our guests could have regular cake. But honestly it didn't matter because the gluten free cake was good as the rest! And it looked as good as it tasted. I will definately go back.

Meghan Gourley of Sweet & Savory in Frederick, Maryland, absolutely knocked everyone's socks off with her one of a kind dessert! My husband and I aren't big fans of cake, so we specifically asked her if she could make us a non-cake dessert for our wedding, to take the place of a traditional wedding cake. Meghan was more than obliging (despite being known for her elaborate wedding cakes) and decided to make us her decadent layered dessert known as "Death by Chocolate". We needed 60 servings for our guests, and she graced us with at least 80 individually crafted Death by Chocolates!! Which was totally awesome, as they were such a hit many of our guests requested seconds! In addition many of our family members are on gluten free diets, and so she created all of the desserts gluten free so everyone was able to enjoy them. We had a great experience with Sweet & Savory, and have recommended her services many times over :)

Meghan did a great job with our wedding cake. She helped us narrow down our choices for a free tasting, and it was all delicious. We ended up with a 3-tiered cake with three flavor combinations: pumpkin with buttercream filling, almond with raspberry filling, and white with hazelnut filling. She was very flexible and accommodating with the drop-off time for our wedding day. The cake was delicious! It actually all got eaten at the wedding and I heard tons of compliments about it from the guests. We're really looking forward to our free top tier cake on our first anniversary!

My wedding was Aug 29th, should have done this sooner but was wiped out from all the planning..LOL. Meghan's cake was amazing! it looked gorgeous, almost to good to eat. The detail on the cake was stunning and the taste was impeccable. All these words really don't even do the cake justice. It really was a great tasting cake at an affordable price and you will be working with an artist. The cake came out better than I imagined it. Loved it! can't wait for our anniversary cake! Also, with all the planning I completely to get a topper. I was going to put flowers on top but when I came down I saw a monogram topper and was thrilled. Meghan had ran out and got us one last minute. She is amazing!

This was a second wedding so we really wanted good cake for our guests that wasn't astronomically priced. The cake was moist and delicious and beautiful and Megan was great to work with. We had a really great experience and were glad we found her.

We used Sweet & Savory for a bridal shower cake and were really happy with that so we were very happy to go ahead and move forward with our wedding cake. Of all the places we tried, it was definitely one of the best cake and very reasonable. I will definitely call them for cakes in the future.

Sweet & Savory made my wedding cake and it was delicious! Meghan really worked with me to decide how I wanted the cake decorated and it ended up looking amazing. The buttercream is fantastic! Not too sweet - you could eat it all day! In fact she will give you a fresh anniversary cake for your 1st anniversary so I have been munching on leftover cake all day!!! Definitely recommend.

Very happy with the cake Sweet & Savory provided us for our outdoor wedding in a barn. The buttercream is the best part - there is nothing like it anywhere. And you get free cake on your anniversary! Can't wait to go back! It was really beautiful and went great with the rest of our wedding.

Meghan squeezed us in, two weeks before our wedding, when our initial bakery unexpectedly went out of business. She is extremely prompt with returning emails, and answered all of our questions. She does not have a store front, but we met her at her home and did a tasting. Amazing cake, and so many flavor combinations. When asked to make our lemon selection even more lemony, she obliged and did not disappoint. She delivered to our venue the day of. The display was beautiful and I think we only had 10 cupcakes left! We were on a tight budget and had a very small wedding and Meghan was very accommodating. Our cake was beautiful and exactly what we wanted and tasted great. I would highly recommend her and Sweet & Savory for any event.

If you want real buttercream you must go to Sweet and Savory! Our cake truly tasted like cake and it was beautiful. No fondant! Our guests loved it and kept raving. They even offer a free cake on our anniversary. Can't wait! High marks for Sweet and Savory. Our cake was one of the best things about our wedding.

What a fantastic experience I had working with Meghan. The tasting and consultation was private and she really took the time to ensure that we got exactly what we wanted. She worked with us to determine which flavors would go best together, to stay within our budget, and to ultimately get our perfect wedding cake. On the day of there were no hiccups whatsoever. Meghan is a professional who got the job done. Not only is her service great, but the quality is unbelievable. Our guests raved about the cake and many went back for second pieces. We had a beautiful, affordable cake and couldn't ask for a more service friendly company to create it.

We had a very small family wedding in a park so we hired Sweet & Savory site unseen and without a tasting so I was a little nervous. The cake was very affordable but it was still my wedding day! It really turned out so perfect! She did the most beautiful stenciling. We couldn't believe how great it looked. And it tasted great. Everyone had great things to say. Very pleased! Love this vendor!! Meghan was excellent from the tasting to the wedding day! We got so many compliments: "Your wedding cake actually tasted good!" which apparently is rare for wedding cakes. My husband had about three slices :) Highly recommended!

I was very impressed with Sweet &Savory. The tasting went flawless and this was our 5th stop for cake tasting. The tasting was informative and the cake was very moist and delicious. There was not one cake that we tried that was bad. She was quick to help with a design and was able to give us a lot of ideas. We decided to go with her that same day because we were so impressed. The day of the wedding I was not able to see the cake delivered but I had my matron of honor take a picture of it so I could see it before the wedding, It was more beautiful than I imagined. I contacted Meghan long before my April 27th, 2013 wedding. I knew I wouldn't be in the town my wedding was in frequently so I wanted things handled. She was completely understanding and accommodating. She was prompt and clear with all correspondence, helped me make the best design choices for the day, and followed up before the big day to reconfirm all of our decisions. The cake was a big hit with everyone. Lots of people even went back for a second piece! My personal favorite thing though was that there were some leftovers that held up great! I would recommend Meghan and Sweet & Savory to anyone, anytime, anyday!

We had such a great time choosing our cake! Meghan was easy going and fun and made me and my family feel so at ease. I've never been married before and had no idea what I was doing! The whole process of planning a wedding is so daunting and choosing our cake was one of the easiest parts. It was so tasty and moist. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I wish I had such luck with all my vendors.

Sweet & Savory was great. We went to several pretty awful cake tastings before we met Meghan. This was really surprising because we were not looking for anything fancy – cupcakes in a few flavors that tasted great and had a good balance of cupcake/frosting. That’s exactly what we got from Sweet & Savory and at a VERY reasonable price. We ended up choosing red velvet, chocolate mocha and lemon. Meghan was great the day of the wedding doing all of the setup. We will definitely be using her for future events.

I can't say enough good things about Meghan. We interviewed four different vendors for our cake and we liked Meghan from the start. She won us over not only with the fabulous taste of the cakes we sampled, but with her personality and customer service. She is friendly, knowledgeable and really knows how to read her customers. In the months before the wedding, I e-mailed Meghan with questions many, many times. She always responded quickly (in less than 24 hours) with extremely thorough answers and offered to meet in person if I wanted to work on cake designs in person. In the end, the cake was absolutely beautiful and turned out exactly like I envisioned it. To top it all off, her cakes are absolutely delicious. During the wedding, our cake was literally gone in 20 minutes. If someone hadn't set aside a piece for me, I wouldn't have gotten any. People were lining up for second pieces and raving about the cake. I will be using Meghan for any other special occasions when we need a cake.

We planned our wedding long distance so we didn't have a lot of time to spend going to different bakeries trying lots of cake. And really we didn't have to. As soon as we met Meghan we knew we wouldn't have to worry about it and she was the one to go with. It turned out great even though the wedding was outside on a really hot day. And it was more beautiful than the picture I gave her. I would definitely use her again. Thank you Sweet and Savory!

We had our baker fall through at the last minute and had to scramble to find someone. Meghan graciously met with us and provided our cake. She accommodated us and did everything we asked and it turned out beautifully! I wish we had found her in the first place! After such a stressful situation, she really put my mind at ease. i would use Sweet & Savory again and again.

I had the lovely opportunity to work with Meghan Gourley on my 150 serving, 3 tier cake. I could not have asked for anything more delicious and beautiful. She even bakes you a cake topper of your choice for your 1 year anniversary, instead of having to freeze your cake topper! We chose to do 3 different tiers, each a different flavor and everyone (including us) could not get enough! We froze the leftovers and they are still SO moist and delicious. Great experience and great price!
