WARNING!! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE FOR A PARTY OR SPECIAL OCCASION.
I decided to order all my desserts and cakes from here for my daughter’s 8th birthday. Huge mistake! Don’t let their pictures or website fool you. They may look like professionals running their business but they are not and they are awful.
I ordered two specialty birthday cakes for my daughter’s 8th birthday. One two tier cake and a number cupcake cake. I also ordered 2 dozen gluten free cupcakes and 1 dozen vegan cupcakes. That never came!
My confirmed delivery window was 11am-2pm, the timeframe I had for my daughter’s birthday party at a rented venue. By 12:30pm I hadn’t received any contact by the bakery about my delivery being on the way. So I decided to call the bakery to get an update. Both phone numbers provided. No one answered. I left messages and emails to try to get someone to update me on my order. Surely my $1200 order was being worked on right? Even if it came at 2pm we still had the space to sing happy birthday and hand out cake and desserts. I knew my delivery was up to 2pm at the latest so I waited until 2pm. They’re professionals right? Wrong again.
The party ended and everyone left by 2:30pm with no cake or desserts. At 3:30pm when I was already driving back home I get a call from the courier saying they were ready to deliver my order. I said I just need a refund because the party is over and no one was there anymore. It was 1.5 hours past the latest time they confirmed for it to be delivered. From 12:30-2pm I had called them repeatedly and no one answered my calls, voicemails or emails. They just stuck their heads in the sand.
If they had just answered my calls or emails or gotten back to me I could have tried to salvage the situation. I could have sent someone to pick up a cake and desserts from a grocery store or Postmated something. My daughter, family and friends didn’t have to be left with nothing. Anything would have been better than nothing. I counted on their professionalism and because of their lack of it, they ruined my daughter’s birthday party.
My daughter cried and told me it was the worst birthday party ever because there was no cake and she didn’t get to blow out her candles while her family and friends sang happy birthday to her.
AND when another mom saw me pacing on the phone stressing and asked me what was wrong and I told her the desserts and cake have not yet come and they are not answering my calls or emails, she asked what company I used. I told her it was Sweet E’s. Her eyes grew wide and she said THEY DID THE SAME THING TO HER 2 WEEKS PRIOR AND RUINED HER DAUGHTERS BIRTHDAY PARTY AS WELL. My experience is not a one off or rare mishap. This is just how they are. And they are awful. It took me 3 days before I was able to get a hold of anyone. Not because they checked their inboxes and got back to me, they made no attempt to reach out. I had to call them repeatedly for days until someone finally answered to get my $1200 back.
I’ll be using Baby Bea’s Bakeshop instead in the future. A little more expensive but worth it for her beautiful work and professionalism.
We ordered the Gold Luxe one tier cake for our wedding and it was delicious and perfect. The best wedding cake for the best price. They even worked with us to deliver to the venue at a specific time. Absolutely recommend!
I've used this bakery for years so they were a no brainer to book for my wedding cake. The quality, look & taste was perfection.
My husband and I hired Sweet E’s for our wedding and were so happy with the way everything turned out. We ordered a three tier barely there strawberry shortcake wedding cake, a death star chocolate ganache grooms cake and macarons. Not only was everything beautiful but it tasted amazing.
Sweet E's has some of the most amazing desserts available and they made our wedding cake look and taste awesome! The strawberry shortcake base for the wedding cake was superb and we had many positive comments from guests. So why the four stars? Well, communications with the crew there was not so great... apparently the main contact person we were working with left the company somewhere between when we first made our orders and the actual wedding day event. No one bothered to contact us when they said they would reach out. It was not until we reached out to them about 1 month before the event to ask about what was going on and for information for our final down payment till they finally responded. And it wasn't an immediate response either to follow up on our correspondence. So to say the least we were a little nervous and worried. However, all went well on the actual event day. The staff were there ahead of time, very professional and courteous and designed the table very nicely in good time before the start of the reception. Overall Sweet E's delivered and the we were happy with the excellent quality of the desserts we ordered =)
We knew of Sweet E's because my MOH is a major foodie and she always gets her birthday cakes from them. We knew they were good and were not disappointed. When we went in for the tasting, we were blown away by literally every flavor. They were so easy to work with, the cakes were delicious and beautiful, and they never tried to up-sell us or make us feel embarrassed (as other bakeries did) for having a single tier cake with sheet cakes in the back. Our guests loved the cake and couldn't stop raving about it. I'm so happy we have some leftovers to keep enjoying!
My husband and I just got married last weekend, and we are so happy we found Sweet E's Bake Shop for our cake and dessert table! After my coordinator recommended them to us, we did our research and found out that they had done a candy cake before. My husband was sold before we even tried it! We were so excited for our cake tasting (had to specially ask for the candy cake since it was technically off-the-menu) and wow.....every bite was amazing! You really can't go wrong with any of the flavors. However, the moment we bit into the candy cake, there was no question. It was the best thing we had ever tasted! We decided to go with that, as well as the strawberry shortcake for our cake. Tricia was so sweet and helpful with the process and designing of the cake, so we decided to do a dessert table with them as well. Everything was so simple and straightforward with Tricia, and she was a joy to work with! They delivered and set up everything on time, which was great since it was one less thing for us to worry about on our big day.
Our guests absolutely loved our cake and the dessert table was a hit! Thank goodness our coordinator saved us some pieces from the table, because our guests totally devoured everything! We have had so many people asking us where we got our cake from, especially since the candy cake was such a unique flavor. Thank you to everyone at Sweet E's for making us the perfect cake! We can't wait to order the candy cake again. My husband says we're getting it once a month :)
My husband has a gluten allergy so it was important to have a cake and desserts that he could eat at our wedding. And even with the gluten free desserts we wanted to make sure everyone would enjoy them. Our dessert table and cake were absolutely perfect and not one bite was left at the end of the night. And what's more is their prices were very affordable which is always nice when you are already spending so much money! I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
The first time I wrote this review it was so long that I realized no one would read it. I've since cooled off. The short version - don't waste your time. I wish someone had told me that before we went.
My fiancé & I went in this past Sunday for a tasting. The girl helping us was so unprofessional it was baffling. We later found out she was the store manager. I wanted to like them since they're in my old neighborhood, but I should have listened to my gut. If we hadn't paid for the tasting in advance (required), we would have left before we sat down.
- The cake & frosting flavors aren't listed on their website - just the cupcake names. So we had to guess when selecting flavors to taste - even after I pointed it out to them and asked where the list of flavors was.
- Our tasting was sitting out when we arrived (not sure how long) & there was an employee sitting there eating next to it.
- We paid $25 for 3 regular size cupcakes that had the frosting on the side & a ball of fondant to taste. To be fair, the girl eating offered us waters & also brought us 2 mini cupcakes to try. It still would have been cheaper to walk in and order 3 cupcakes plus 2 minis.
- The girl helping us kept rolling her eyes & giving off an "I don't give a sh!t" attitude. As for providing any sort of consultation...no. We had to walk her through what we wanted and all the details. It’s like it was this girl’s first wedding consult.
- To their credit, the employee that was eating at least seemed aware that the store manager was floundering. She offered us waters, offered to let us try other flavors & brought us silverware.
- The cupcakes? Way too sugary sweet for us. The flavors did taste exactly like their names though (i.e. snicker doodle tasted exactly like the cookie).
- Price? More expensive than our quote from Vanilla Bake Shop (and not as good on quality, taste or professionalism).
- The final kicker? At the end of the tasting she tells us that it's a regular deliver service that they use and they're not professional cake movers. If we want buttercream frosting and want it delivered to Malibu, it might melt. So they'll probably want one of their own employees to deliver it. Just as a disclaimer. (Seriously?!?)
We couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Bottom line, if they can't perform for a tasting there's no way we would trust them with our wedding cake. Unless the owner whips this place into shape, save yourself the time, money & frustration.
We used Sweet E's for our favors. We got cake pops of three flavors (blue velvet, chocolate, and egg-less cookie dough-my favorite!). They were extremely easy to work with and even wrapped the individual cake balls and tied them with a tag that said "So sweet of you to come!" They looked adorable and tasted delicious.
I would definitely recommend this vender.
By the way, that price was for about 250 cake pops.
