ern. After contacting a number of caterers (and being awe-struck by how much they were charging), Eric got back to us to set up a tasting in West Haven. In doing so, we expressed some interest in a number of his food offerings and services and told him our approximated (modest) budget. When we walked into his shop - he had a sweetheart table set up for us and he was cooking. He invited us in, introduced himself, and poured us some berry-infused ice water into our glasses. The whole tasting included many of the dishes we had expressed interest in and each was excellent - a full meal with hors d'oeuvres. We looked around a bit more, but no one offered the value that Eric and Sweet Relief had. Eric's style is very laid back - as a proactive couple with high expectations - that's something to get used to, but in the end, its what you need. From the contract, to the meal specifics, to detail planning, and set up/timeline, etc. Eric took all of the many requests in stride and kept our minds at ease. The day of went perfectly, the food and service were excellent - Eric kept saying through the whole process: "if you're happy, then I am happy." He practices what he preaches, and you can trust that if you have a vision for your wedding - Eric and his team can pull off your day. He did it for us, and I would highly recommend him for any event.

Eric was great from the tasting right up to the day of the wedding reception. I can't say enough about how good the food was. The staff was professional and courteous. Great catering, highly recommended.

d get a sampling of the food a few months before out event. He got our tastes immediately, and no changes were needed to the menu. They also took care of linens and plates etc. Eric was easy to work with, and everything went incredibly well. Our guests raved about the food, and the staff were very courteous(and the bartenders were generous). Speaking for myself, the food is absolutely delicious, and there was plenty left over. I'm an anxious person, but it became clear that as far as food and drink I had nothing to worry about. I would highly recommend Sweet Relief to anybody needing a caterer, as this was a great experience.

erything was spot on. Our crowd loved that the food was not typical wedding food mush, but was a beautiful grilled spread. The bar and cocktail hour were perfect and we had too many compliments. I have recommended Sweet Relief to friends already, and I can honestly say I was blown away by Eric and his team. And he was so accommodating and incredibly affordable.

The food was phenomenal (we did buffet style with a mixed cocktail hour of both passed & stationary hors d'oeuvres ) ...the service was excellent & a perfect fit for us. Working with Eric & his team was a pleasure and all our guests are still talking about the food and how great it was. His menu options are thoughtful and on point - Eric the owner navigated us in the right direction & truly knows his craft. The salmon (and everything else) was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. I hope we have the opportunity to work with Sweet Relief again. ayed because of the parking situation in the rain. Eric and his staff didn't skip a beat! We were behind in schedule and yet the appetizers were hot and tasty. Our guests of about 150 people were raving about all the food, especially the grilled salmon and crab cakes. We had scallops wrapped in bacon, chicken skewers, a pasta station and main entrées including chicken Marsala, prime rib, veggies galore and oven roasted potatoes. The food was delicious, hot and plentiful. The staff at Sweet Relief were polite and very accommodating to our every need. I would definitely call on them for future events. Thank you!

he Sweet Relief website when looking for caterers who cookout or even a clambake was one of my thoughts. The prices seemed too good to be true, especially after meeting with other caterers in Southeastern CT. When we met with Eric at his store front in West Haven for a tasting we were blown away completely. It is still one of our top five dining experiences of all time and wish we could do a tasting once a month. Eric was such a great host, offering us beer and wine and then cooking each part of the menu to order. We did not have to make any changes because the menu he prepared was absolutely perfect. The price was amazing for the extraordinary food that Eric serves. He always responded to us promptly and even when we upped our guest count by 50 people, it was not an issue. It was so nice to have a vendor so accommodating during the crazy wedding planning. On the day of the wedding, even though they had never been to the venue before, everything went seamlessly. They adapted perfectly with the setting and even had passed appetizers when we assumed they were stationary which was a huge plus. I have to mention again how amazing it was that Eric and his team came into a venue they were not familiar with and made it completely flawless; this is real talent. Not only this, but on our wedding day, August 15th, 2015 there was an 8 car pile-up on I-95 which was the main route from West Haven to our wedding almost 50 miles away. I have no clue how they pulled it off and was waiting for a phone call, but they were there early and ready… unbelievable. Other vendors and guests that were driving an eighth of that distance had a hard time. His staff even came up to my husband and asked if they could help with anything else which was great because our venue was lacking tremendously. This was above and beyond what we expected. Dinner was ready just in time, right before the first dance which coordinated perfectly with our timeline and tables were called up in order; nobody waited too long. Another important thing is that we did not run out of food and people are still raving about how good it was. I saw another review saying they ran out of food but I only think that was because they were not honest about guest count. We had plenty. Every single person at the wedding loved the food and I have had many ask about Sweet Relief because they were so impressed. The sesame crusted cedar plank salmon was most popular; and I have had at least 10 people tell me it was the best salmon they have ever had. And one person who hated salmon before this loved this dish; and went back for seconds. We decided to use our own rentals which worked fine with Sweet Relief and they rinsed and stacked everything just as it came so we could bring it back without a problem. If you are planning an event, hire Sweet Relief Catering and you can rest easy that everything will go smooth.

People kept coming up to *me* telling me how great the food was (ribs, stuffed mushrooms, etc.). We also got an open bar from them which I'd really recommend as well. Eric was able to make some modifications to the menu and bar selection very close to our wedding which was also a big help. For the price of the open bar it's impossible to beat the selection. We reviewed about 5 different caterers, Sweet Relief was easily the best from the moment we stopped in for a tasting. Eric helped us with our menu and talked with us about what to expect from vendors/venues. If your event is in New Haven and you aren't going with Sweet Relief you're messing up. Also, get the ribs.

your catering service. It was amazing and done very well. The reason for this email is that I would like to address some issues with your head chef of the evening, Lawrence. Towards the end of the night we received several complaints about his behavior. My father went into the back office to find Beth, the woman in charge of the wedding venue, crying and in pain after interaction with Lawrence when she suggested they get another rack for the chairs because she thought the chairs were stacked too high, and was afraid they would fall, in which he responded with "Beth, how long have you been working here?" she said 3 years, and he replied "well then you should know what you are doing" in a rude tone. Then he proceeded to move the rack of chairs while Beth was still standing directly behind them and rolled the rack right over her foot, injuring her toe even for her to be crying in the office. Her toe was swollen and red. This is just completely unacceptable. Secondly, my husband's sister said when she came out of the bathroom, Lawrence started hitting on her and making her feel uncomfortable. Third, he was cursing in front of guests, making them feel uncomfortable and pretty much having no shame about it. Fourth, he walked straight into my husband in a doorway in passing, more than likely accidentally, knocking him aside without saying a word. Furthermore, most of the staff seemed, over-worked, unenthusiastic and whenever a guest had a question or concern, they were either treated rudely or shortly. I know you were only there briefly, but I find this behavior completely unacceptable considering the amount of money we have paid your company for your services. Your food was exceptional, but the service was not. The bartenders were splendid. I have suggested that Beth, tell Katherine, the woman in charge of bookings at Branford House, exactly what happened, which will not reflect well in the future with your relationship with that venue. Overall, you assigned a head chef who injured a staff member, walked into my husband the groom and said nothing, was cursing in front of guests, and hit on my sister in law making her uncomfortable.

The bar service was very good according to our guests: we had some fairly late changes to the drink menu, but these were taken care of with not much trouble. Over the course of planning the wedding, we realized the caterer is really the vendor at the heart of the whole thing, and so it’s important to find one that isn’t going to drive you crazy and will get everything done in a low-key way. We definitely felt like Sweet Relief accomplished all of that, and we’re thankful we found them.

a few guests who had very specific allergies and he went out of his way to make sure they each had their own delicious meals they could enjoy. His staff was excellent, they quickly responded to any request we made. The pricing was extremely reasonable. He was very respectful of our budget and we were thrilled with everything we received for the price. I would definitely recommend Sweet Relief to anyone who wants an excellent caterer with delicious food. Thank you so much, we couldn't have asked for anything more.

and very easy to work with. The food was delicious! I can't keep track of how many guests have approached us to tell us how great the food was. I could not be happier with their service. They did such a wonderful job, and made us feel comfortable and special throughout the entire process of choosing a menu, linens, glassware etc. I highly recommend them to anyone for any event!

main course. Eric was very accommodating to our special requests. It was great being able to tap into his 15 years of wedding catering knowledge. The servers were awesome , friendly and efficient. Every member of the staff. including the owner, Eric, helped to make sure it was all flawless. Thank you to Sweet Relief for helping to make this such a memorable night!

sweetheart table which I thought was very nice. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 was because I couldn't stand eric who I believe is the owner. He is highly unorganized and doesn't seem like he really cares at all. Luckily leanne is the one actually in charge of handling events so we mostly dealt with her. And she did an awesome job!
