this industry knows, nice people can turn very difficult when large amounts of alcohol are consumed. We sure do love a great celebration where everyone is cutting loose and enjoying life, God knows we need it. But, when too much alcohol is involved, the party can quickly get out of control. Doing that many shots does not usually work out very well and is actually not allowed at most venues. The Beyoncé link you sent would not convert to an MP3 in the program we use. That’s not unusual, so we got another link with the exact title. It did not say remix or duo or anything else. We listen to the first 5 seconds or so to check on the quality, but we cannot listen fully to each of the 700-1000 songs we go through every week. The song did end up being a remix, which started at 25 sec. in. That’s on us and I wish that never happened. We had no idea that was not what you wanted until the review, as you never said anything. Did you ever wonder why none of the older folks got on the dance floor? Thomas acted like a spoiled petulant child being told no. As he was getting worse, a woman took him away. I then went and spoke to Julie, your coordinator, who spent much of the time away from all the drunken chaos. She agreed that things were out of control and said she’d say something to you about Thomas and others. Obviously she did not. In all the weddings I’ve Emceed, I’ve never cut anyone from a speech. You added this person after our final review call. I looked at the history of the document to make sure. I told you to please let me know if you change anything on the timeline. You never said anything about him, even on the day of or during the toasts. It’s not uncommon to add a speech the day of, we just need to know. And now you must be kidding me with this. As professionals, we need to talk to our client at the beginning of the event to know about any changes and make sure we’re on the same page. This only took, maybe, two minutes and is necessary to make sure things go smoothly, like getting all the speeches. It’s always easy to blame the one person who’s in the hot seat at a wedding, the DJ, when things get out of hand and people have had way too much to drink. Other than that, you both told me a few times during the night how well things were going, as did many other non-drunk guests. So, considering everything, I’m a bit surprised with your review.
