I cannot speak highly enough of Sweetwater Branch Inn for our wedding reception and overnight stays. We rented the McKinsey Hall and Gardens for a September Saturday evening recept...
ion, and the evening was magical.
The coordinator walked us through all the options about a year in advance, we decided on the hall and garden location and made a rainy day plan (it is Florida, after all). They provided serving staff for the bar, the cake, passed hors d’ouvres, and the champagne toast. We did have to buy the alcohol ourselves, but this also meant we got to customize the offerings, and they stored it for us for a few days before and chilled all the cold drinks.
The location is stunning. We had about 60 people at the wedding and, for me, this is about perfect for the hall. Any more and you end up needing tables in the garden, which is fine in a more mild weather time of year.
Coordination went fine, even when they had lots of event staff turnover during the year we worked with them. (They went through three event coordinators during the 11 months I was engaged.) But they are one of the most experienced venues in town, so they run well. Catering is on site, so they offer everything there, and the food is very good. Definitely do a tasting, and you’ll basically get a special lunch for you and your fiancé to try some of your menu.
The rooms are also quite cozy, and the Garden Suite (used to be called the Honeymoon Suite) is spacious and relaxing. I used this for me and my three bridesmaids to get ready in on the morning of the wedding. It was a very relaxing post-wedding room to retreat to with my husband. We definitely want to do a staycation here one day in the near future.
I won’t lie — it is pricey, but it’s about the same price as the major players in town (Thomas Center, etc) especially once you factor in catering costs.

I used Sweetwater for catering my wedding on January 11th at The Hippodrome. I have mixed feelings about the service provided based on the cost. We had a served dinner for 81 guest...
s including our vendors. Our original invoice and when we showed up for our tasting stated buffet along with a few other minor details being off. The food at the tasting was unbelievable, the food at the wedding was not nearly as good. We had multiple people tell us they were not overly impressed. My initial meeting was with 1 person who did not recommend a certain menu item for off-site catering then the second person at the tasting contradicted that. I then worked with a third person who was on vacation the last week before my wedding so I ended up back with the first person. They were very kind when I had two people tell me they would be at my wedding with 24 hour advanced notice. Table service was slow. We paid for 4 servers and had 8 tables. It took a long time for everyone to get their meals served. I paid for them to do cake cutting as well. I purchased 13 cheesecakes that were recommended to be cut into 6 slices. The slices were so small I had multiple cheesecakes leftover that I gave to the desk staff at the hotel we stayed at so they would not go to waste. Working with Sweetwater did not put a damper on our wedding day but I do wish for the 8k we spent we would've researched other options before signing their contract.
