Sweet Water and a Catering Connection
Jodi and Kelly, the owners of Sweetwater Cuisine Venue, are two sisters who owe their mother a debt of gratitude for encouraging them in the kitchen at a young age. Mom, or Tomma, was a caterer herself and shared her passion and love with her two young girls back in their small hometown of Bogue Chitto, Mississippi. The name of the business also has familial links, inspired by the Sweetwater School built in the late 1800s. It was erected on land donated by Jodi and Kelly's great-great-great-great-grandfather, named after the nearby creek and its natural springs that left the water tasting oh so sweet.

Amazing Valentine’s Day dinner. The Wellington and the lobster were both amazing. Oh and the apple pie was on a whole different level. Highly recommend if you can get a reservation on one of the very few days they are open to make it happen.

We've visited Sweetwater Cuisine many times with our Meetup group. The staff is always very professional and the food flavorful and well seasoned. Their salads are really good and my husband loves the bread pudding.

Sweetwater Cuisine was everything I wanted and more for our wedding! We had a very specific vision — pizza on a Friday, because that’s our tradition — and they absolutely nailed it. We did tastings for seafood, wood-fired pizza, salad, and past...
a, and everything was fantastic.
On the wedding day, their presentation was beautiful, and they even worked around my venue’s restrictions for the wood-fired pizza oven without a hitch. Guests couldn’t stop raving about the food — it truly ended up being one of the highlights of the night. There was something for everyone, and they took every allergy and dietary restriction into account.
I’d recommend them in a heartbeat for any wedding or event. I’m already looking for an excuse to visit for one of their brunches!

Walking into Sweetwater’s, I expected Southern-Infused cuisine with a timeless fusion of tradition & fine dining. Results? NOT DISSAPOINTED. We came the week of June 14th with the intent of celebrating my Mother’s 57th birthday anniversary, and...
seeing as Sweetwater’s has always been close-to-heart for her, it was nothing short of amazing!! Even got my picky Nephew to enjoy several plates over great fellowship.
We were welcomed by kind, fulfilling staff, and each person fostered a friendly presence & spirit. I will digress quickly to agree with other reviews that it can be challenging to navigate entryway into the building, in which the Host didn’t make himself available to guide us, but it’s nothing that could’ve ‘Make or Break’ our experience. Food was served in a wide variety of a buffet-style arrangement that was pleasing to the senses to say the least. I am a big fan of the Shrimp & Grits! My personal favorite part of the experience was the rotating workstaff—making the experience feel extremely personalized on top of the already comforting, cabana-like, ambience.
On the same token, it is part of the reason why I deducted a star.. I was unable to register his name by our departure, but I would be lying if I said the designated busser that day (elderly man, approximately average feet/inch in height) with the tied-back ponytail didn’t rouse feelings of discomfort for me and per chance, some others. He made a lot of incessant remarks that followed us all the way out the door. Example(s) being, when my Nephew & I struggled to completely down our portions, between MULTIPLE plates I was told things like “just wasting food,” with an unprofessional cadence and all. When we were to pass alongside him, (leaving, making additional plates, etc.) he would ask upfront & direct, “You guys still here/You guys leaving yet?” for a total of three times before we made our final rounds. Based on disposition, he seems old-school, hence, overwhelmed by the demands of the food & labor industry, and took a lot of it out on us, and since we are a minority family, this can leave a harsh impression on the establishment as a whole. He may not account for the positive aspect of this review, but he was still appreciated greatly, as my patronage is customizable to my needs, as to his own service (and deep down, I think he was just simply overwhelmed that day lol).
Otherwise, GREAT food, GREAT people, GREAT time.
Thank you, SweetWaters.
