Holds ceremonies and receptions
We recently had the pleasure of hosting our wedding at this beautiful venue in August, and we can’t recommend it highly enough! Nestled in a charming small town, the property features a lovely Victorian home filled with vintage details that added a unique touch to our stay.
The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking. We held our ceremony on the headlands, surrounded by stunning ocean views, followed by a delightful cocktail hour on the veranda and in the back garden. For the reception, we utilized the expansive lawn, which provided the perfect setting for our celebration. The variety of areas allowed us to change the ambiance throughout the day, creating a truly magical experience.
A special mention to Gary, the owner, who was fantastic to work with. His clear communication made the booking and planning process seamless. Dolores, the property manager, did an amazing job preparing the house for us and checking in as needed, ensuring everything went smoothly.
We also want to thank Phoebe and Jason, who helped with security, parking, and assisting during our welcome party and the wedding. Their kindness and professionalism contributed significantly to our overall experience.
This venue including the home is a gem, and the entire team made our wedding day & weekend unforgettable. We will cherish the memories made here forever. If you’re looking for a special place for your big day, look no further!
There was no component of our wedding weekend more complimented than the venue itself. People could not stop remarking about the beauty of Switzer Farm and how lucky they felt to have had the opportunity to visit. Many have said they'd like to get married there next! Gary and Dolores were a joy to work with and we appreciated the extra effort they both took to familiarize us and our vendors with the property.
We felt extra, extra grateful to have had the opportunity to stay onsite for our wedding and enjoyed the beautiful accommodations, kitchen, and access to our wedding! The extra special opportunity to spend more time with our families at Switzer will be cherished forever.

Our historic farm sits atop 22 private oceanfront acres directly above the wild Pacific Ocean. We are located 20 minutes north of Fort Bragg, and 35 minutes north of Mendocino, near the historic village of Westport, California. We enjoy uninterrupted ocean views from the restored 1884 Victorian farmhouse, rustic 1871 barns, garden cottage -- really from everywhere on the property.
The farm is completely private, located hundreds of yards from our nearest neighbor. We are further cloistered by banks of trees on all sides except the west, ocean facing, side. Unlike some other venues, we are located west of the only roadway, and so once you and your guests arrive at the farm, there is nothing between you and the ocean but our wild and rustic meadow, headlands and coastal cliffs.
Our rental package is for 3 days and nights, and includes not only a wide variety of sites on our property for you to host your various celebratory events over the weekend, but also 3 nights lodging for 20+ guests. Our ocean view farmhouse has 7 traditional bedrooms, with beautiful antique Victorian beds, and in addition offers more sleep accommodations in our library, living room and finished attic. The farmhouse has 4 full bathrooms. Our ocean view garden cottage, envisioned as a great getaway spot for couples on their wedding night, has a beautiful sleeping room with a fabulous antique bed and its own full bathroom.
The farmhouse is a wonderful place for you to entertain your guests. All of the public rooms -- the living room, dining room, library and kitchen -- enjoy fabulous ocean views. Equipped with top of the line appliances, but designed to look as if it evolved organically since the 1880's, our kitchen is a dream for group cooking or catered meals.
To top it off, our ocean view veranda is a wonderful place for you and your guests to gather and enjoy a sunset together. It is also a wonderful spot for a dinner or cocktail party.
Our veranda sits above our west garden. This garden also enjoys sweeping ocean views, and is a favored spot for wedding ceremonies and cocktail parties.
Our south lawn was designed for big catered dinner parties. It too enjoys a fabulous ocean view. We have installed an outdoor catering area nearby for your caterers to work, but it is hidden from the lawn by a bank of bushes. There is a double sink, and ample electricity and plumbing to allow your caterers to show off their best work.

I am a historic preservationist. I am a passionate student of Victorian architecture and design, and have been collecting 19th century light fixtures, books and architectural elements for 35+ years. In 2015, I quit my job of 32 years as a lawyer to make restoring Switzer Farm my job of a lifetime. I have been faithfully restoring the farm ever since. Weddings are our way of paying for the house and its restoration. But all of it is a labor of love for me. We live at the farm part time, and part time in San Francisco for now. We plan to make the farm our full time home in the future.
