Florals were pretty and reasonably priced. Florist was good to work with and helpful picking out the flowers that would work best together and give the look we want. Slight communication issues with delivery but overall positive experience.
My family has used Sylvia’s floral services for years, so it was a no-brainer to use them for my wedding. They provided stunning bouquets, corsages, boutonnières, and ceremony/reception flowers for our day. They were extremely easy to work with and I felt at ease knowing we were in good hands to take my vision to reality.
I can’t begin to express how impressed and highly satisfied I was using Sylvia’s as my wedding florist! It was such a smooth process from beginning to end. I met with Laura to discuss my ideas and what I was looking for, and with her expertise, she made my vision come to life. She was able to accommodate my budget as much as possible, and after some back and forth, I was very pleased with our contract. The flowers were delivered right on time the morning of the wedding, and Laura and her team did a wonderful job setting everything up. Would highly recommend Sylvia’s for any floral needs!
Sooo I was very excited when I first booked with Sylvia’s! Then we had our friends wedding in September- Sylvia’s messed up the delivery order and brides flowers… needless to say I was extremely nervous for my wedding. Fast forward to my wedding and the flowers were perfect!! Everything showed up on time! The right colors, the amount of everything needed! The flowers were perfect for a fall wedding! The nerves paid off! Many many compliments on the flowers and colors!
Jerry from Sylvia's was super professional and timely with replies! I didn't really know what I wanted for our wedding and sent a few 'aspirational' images that I thought were pretty. Thankfully, Jerry was able to give more clarification and redirect me to an even MORE STUNNING option that worked with my budget. Including small details like my 'something blue' and a pin from one of our favorite movies were nicely implemented and made it even more special. THANK YOU ALL!
I had my bridal bouquet made by Sylvia's - honestly it was all I ever wanted and such a stress-free process! The bouquet was absolutely gorgeous and received so many compliments! I cannot recommend Sylvia's enough! Thank you!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND - My husband and I worked with Kristina at Sylvia's - Amling's Flowers, and we cannot say enough good things about Kristina and about the flowers that were delivered to our venue. Kristina is AMAZING, super responsive, and so helpful. When I decided to add floral centerpieces at the last minute, she offered to make calls to see whether the same flowers could be used (COVID is creating production issues for farmers, etc.). Sure enough, she checked and confirmed that same day. She also switched our order from pick up to delivery, even though it was more of a last-minute change. Kristina also called a day or two before the wedding to confirm the entire order. I completely trusted that she and her team would deliver the most beautiful flowers, and they did. We received SO many compliments from family and friends. We ordered floral centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, and a few bags of rose petals, and everything really looked so beautiful and cohesive. Thank you to Kristina and everyone at Sylvia's - Amling's Flowers! Book with them--you will be so happy you did!
I booked Sylvia’s for my wedding on 9/18/21 and I absolutely LOVED the way my wedding flowers turned out! I also purchased bulk eucalyptus and baby’s breath to make my own centerpieces. I always felt like they were working with my vision/budget and not trying to convince me into spending more on things I didn’t want. Overall they were very professional, responsive and reasonably priced! I highly recommend Sylvia’s flowers!
Kristina through Amling's was great to work with. She helped bring our wedding vision to life! I appreciated that she bounced ideas off of me to help us create our dream and also save some money as well. She is very accessible and flexible with communication. The flowers were perfect and she even included lace from my grandmothers and mothers dress onto the handle of my bouquet and it was the perfect touch! Thank you for everything!
We used Sylvia’s for our florist for our wedding, and surprisingly this is the same florist my parents used many years ago for their wedding. We worked with Kristina Lang and she was amazing! She helped us stay in our budget and still get the exact look we wanted. I researched many places and this by far was the best when it came to price and quality. We were so pleased with all of the flowers for the whole day (bouquets, boutonnieres, cake flowers, and the garland around out centerpieces). I highly recommend using this florist for your wedding! You will not regret it! The whole process was seamless and flawless!
Sylvia’s delivered to the city (bonus!) and they made the most BEAUTIFUL bouquets!! I’m not a flower girl at all, so during our consultation I gave her pictures and color schemes, but not specifics; they’re the experts after all. What they made were beyond perfect and made everything come together perfectly! Would absolutely recommend Sylvia’s hands down!
I highly recommend Kristina at Sylvia Flowers for wedding flowers!! I felt like I was working with a friend who wanted the best for me. She is extremely kind and professional and was able to work with my budget and create beautiful bouquets that looked amazing! When I came into the shop, she would always greet me with a smile and was eager to show me how the flowers were coming along. She was quick with communication via email and phone and very professional. Kristina is something special and very talented when it comes to making your wedding day beautiful!!
I would highly recommend working with Kristina at Sylvia's! She worked with us to figure out exactly what we wanted and made it happen within our very limited budget. I was actually blown away by how everything looked. She was on top of everything and called to check in and get all the details right in the week leading up to the wedding. I'm not usually one to leave reviews but she did such great work I just had to share how great our experience was!
Sylvia’s Flowers made absolutely stunning arrangements for my wedding for both the ceremony and reception. Kristina was wonderful, helping me to decide on the arrangements and helping me to create a floral plan to suit my budget. She responded promptly to my many emails, making any adjustments as I requested them. The many centerpieces, pew arrangements, bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and many more were even more beautiful than I hoped for. I was so thrilled with how everything turned out. Thank you, Kristina!
I worked with Kristina and had an incredible experience. She worked with me to accommodate my vision, as well as my budget, in order to create the flowers I had always dreamed. I was particularly fond of my bouquet, which was so stunningly original and breathtaking. It really stood out from the rest of the flowers that were present on our wedding day. I highly recommend Sylvia's-Amling's Flowers!!
Kristina did all of the flowers for my wedding, and they were just gorgeous! In addition to being the most beautiful wedding flowers I have ever seen, hers were also the most reasonably priced of all the florists I checked out. I used to work for a florist and I have seen a lot of different arrangements, and her work is breathtaking! I preserved my bridal bouquet and even that still looks stunning, so much so that it is sitting on my mantle in a vase. My photographer even commented on how well the flowers turned out in comparison to other arrangements that she has seen. Thank you Sylvia's!
I hired Jojo to do at home hair and makeup for our wedding morning and she was amazing! She really listened to what I wanted and the final result was perfect. My hair was gorgeous and looked incredible with my veil. I have very thin hair that does not like to stay in place and she managed to make it stay all night. Her makeup partner was also amazing. I told her I didn't normally wear a ton of makeup and wanted to look like I was wearing more than normal but still look like myself. She was really able to do this; I truly looked like the best version of myself. From the moment we hired her Jojo was very laid back and easy to work with. It was so nice to be able to get ready at home and not have to waste time in the car going to a salon. My bridesmaids even commented that they'd like to hire her when they get married! I'd highly recommend her!
Where do I even start?! I used Sylvia's for my wedding on 9/15 and really could not be happier! Kristina was exceptional throughout our entire wedding process. She was always extremely fast with answering any questions I had and very accommodating with requests. I knew I wanted to wear a fresh flower crown on my wedding day but was nervous to wait until the day of to see what it looked like so Kristina was kind enough to create a sample one for me ahead of time. It was beautiful!! As for the bride and bridal party bouquets, I shared with Kristina our color scheme and showed her just a few example photos of flowers that I liked, but other than that I left the creativity up to her. And WOW! The flowers were even more beautiful than I had imagined! My bouquet included frosty green succulents, which I have since re-potted and now get to enjoy even longer! I really can't thank Kristina and her team enough for helping make my day so special.
I absolutely loved my flowers for my wedding! Kristina Lang is great to work with. I have her a few ideas and she made everything perfect and exactly how I envisioned. Highly recommend Sylvia's Flowers!
I would highly recommend Sylvias! I got married downtown Chicago, and not only did they drop off the flowers all the way downtown, but they did an incredible job! The flowers were perfect without being too over the top expensive like other florists. They listened to what I envisioned, and made it come alive. Incredible!
The flowers we got from Kristina were perfect! My bouquet was prettier than I could have ever dreamed, and she was such a pleasure to work with!!
Sylvia's was great!! They took a picture of a silk bouquet and made it into my dream bouquet!! I got a million compliments and my girls loved their flowers too! The price was reasonable for everything they did for me! Highly recommend them!
I am a bride on-a-budget, as are most brides. With my wedding coming up in June, I was running out of options for my flowers. That is until I came upon Sylvia's Amlings in Arlington Heights, through The Knot.
I contacted the store to ask about services and pricing. They got back to me fairly quickly to tell me they have a location closer to me in Elmhurst. They said to call and ask for Angela. When I replied that I will give her a call, they informed me they will call and let her know I will be calling. I called and set an appointment to see Angela, at 6:00 p.m., that Wednesday.
Upon entering, I noticed the store hours posted on the door said closed at 5:30 p.m. I hoped I had not gotten the time wrong. It turns out I didn't. Angela had stayed past closing to meet with me.
I had visited a few other floral shops and had become hopeless that I'd be able to find anyone to work with my budget. Right when we sat down, I let Angela know what my budget was, so I wouldn't waste her time. To my astonishment, she let me know that she could work with me. She was great! She understood my vision perfectly, and after showing her just a few pictures, we came up with floral combinations for my wedding.
I just want to thank Angela for what she had done for me.
My favorite part about Sylvia's was the detail! Everything that we discussed in our initial meeting was captured on my big day. The flowers were stunning, fresh, and smelled beautifully. I was not disappointed in the flowers, and compared to other florist shops I looked at I believe I got above and beyond for my the cost here!
I was planning an 25th Anniversary with a Vow Renewal, much like a Wedding, so I met with the 2 Wedding Planners at Sylvia's and they surpassed my vision.
I looked online for ideas for a while and went to Sylvia's with an idea of what I wanted, but when Christina showed me what she had in mind, I was SOLD. She and Rich told me not to worry, they would take care of everything.
When the day of my event came and I opened the box to see the hand held bouquets and boutonniere, I was just trilled. The colors were amazing and the variety of flowers were beautiful. They weren't your "run of the mill" arrangements, they were absolutely gorgeous.
I would definitely recommend Sylvia's. You get individualized attention from a artistic staff.
Rich and his team are wonderful to work with. I am so pleased with all the flowers that were part of our wedding. Rich and I met early in the wedding planning timeline and collaborated on a design. I had a vision in mind and Rich listened to it all and added suggestions. He is creative and budget savvy. He suggested multi-use of some of the flower arrangements. For example, the flowers that hung from the chairs in small baskets along the aisle during the ceremony, were moved to the high-ball tables for the cocktail hour. The large vases with flowers at each end of the aisle were moved to the entrance to the reception area. Soon after our initial meetings, I received a detailed contract offering the opportunity to make any changes, if needed. Rich's right-hand-lady, Christine kept in touch with me and made the changes I was looking for. Closer to our wedding, I panicked a bit, worried that the center pieces would be too tall and not work at all. Rich contacted me very promptly and reassured me that the design would work and it would be beautiful; not to worry. My husband and I constructed an over sized arbor for our wedding that would have a chandelier hanging from the center. It was 9 feet tall, 6 feet wide, and 4 feet deep. The flowers that decorated the arbor were stunning! It looked beautiful against the background of this field of wildflowers and a birch tree. We went with two different designs for the center pieces for the reception. I highly suggest brides consider this as an option as it adds more texture to the view of the reception. Our center pieces included trays of wheat grass. I believe Sylvia's coolers were taken over by the wheat grass, but now worries on Rich's part as he was so excited about our design and the opportunity to work with different materials. Bridesmaid's bouquets were beautiful and carried on the theme that I had asked for. Each received a unique bouquet. The girls loved them. Rich suggested small posies for both Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom. Nothing needed to be pinned to their dresses and nothing need to be worn around their wrist. Great suggestion! Finally, my bouquet was amazing. It looked stunning in all the pictures. I did not want to set it down. Please - consider Sylvia's for your flower needs. The team is amazing. Every time I contacted them I felt as though I was their only client. They really listen to the bride's vision and make it happen.
Rich from Sylvia's in Arlington Heights did an amazing job with our flowers for our ceremony and reception hall. I went to several florists when shopping around and he was well priced and actually seemed to listen to what I wanted. We had picasso and purple calla lilies with white and lavender roses...they turned out more beautiful than I even imagined! He called me a few days before the wedding to verify the order and I stopped in to see the colors of everything, they really pulled together some beautiful arrangements using my descriptions from our first visit to the shop. No complaints!
The flowers at our wedding were the one thing that went wrong. We met with Rich at Sylvia's. He wasn't all that friendly or nice, but he gave us an amazing quote for our flowers so we decided to go with them anyways.
Flash forward to our wedding day, and our flowers were extremely late- like 2 hours late. I didn't have a bouquet until a minute before the ceremony. Plus when my aunt called to ask where they were 10 minutes before my ceremony she got yelled at and remed out by the lady who answered the phone. It was really uncalled for and unprofessional. It caused a lot of stress because we didn't even know if we were going to have flowers. I have no idea how my wedding coordinator delivered and pinned all the bouts of the clueless men so fast. What made me the most mad was my guests were forced to wait in the lobby of the church while we waited for the flower delivery.
Once the flowers got here, I must say that the bouquets were probably the most gorgeous bouquets I have ever seen. They even doubled the number of roses in each of them. The boutonnieres where very nice too. However, the outstanding quality didn't translate to the other flowers. The ceremony pieces were completely not what we asked for. We asked for fresh cut flowers in a tall glass vase, and what they delivered there was no way they could even fit in a vase. They were ugly and reminded me of funeral flowers, which kind of made me upset as my grandmother passed away recently. We asked for a refund after the wedding, but they only refunded us the cost of the vase which they were unable to use. They claimed the arrangement was only not what we asked for because they didn't have enough time to set up, but that was their fault.
Lastly, I ordered flowers for the honorary bridesmaids and they never even got them. In retrospect it wasn't a huge deal. We ordered them mostly as a gift, and my girls were understanding. But it sucked because I told them they would have flowers, and we payed for them, they just never were brought to the wedding.
All in all, I would probably avoid using them if possible. Their pricing is extremely reasonable, and the bouquets were absolutely exquisite. The bouquets and bouts looked great in the photos, and the horrible pieces in the church weren't too noticeable. I might proceed with caution with them if you are on a tight budget and you can't find another place to match the price- but I would definitely be on their cases confirming the delivery time, and even then the price might not be worth their attitudes. I understand that mistakes happen, but I don't understand their extreme unprofessionalism. My family has used them for flowers forever- since before Amlings took over, but I think we will look into other options for the future.
They had the perfect loose flower stem selection as I made all centerpieces myself!
I would highly recommend going to Sylvia's for your wedding flowers. We met with Arica and from day 1 knew we would be in good hands. He took our ideas and and exceeded our expectations. My bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets were so beautiful and the center pieces were perfect. Rich was able to do so much within our budget.
As a local girl, I've always grown up with Sylvia's Flowers as the florist to go to for any special occasion. When I was shopping around for florists for my wedding, they were the first place I went to. Rich has "the vision"! He was extremely easy to work with during the first meeting and developed a look for the big day that was within our budget and comfort zone. He actually shared some insights and help to bring to light the ideas that were in my head that I didn't quite know where there. He was the best floral designer we interviewed (everyone else wanted to give me what I wanted without any insight or imagination to make it better. I'm not a floral designer, that's why I'm paying you!), so we decided to book them. When we went in for our second meeting to finalize everything for the wedding, Rich was delightful, but as soon as my mom started asking questions and nicely challenging his ideas, he got real prickly. I'm sure he's sensitive about his work, but it was a little unprofessional and the only reason this review got a 4 and not a 5. In the end, Rich delivered exactly what I wanted and the flowers were beautiful! The bouquets were full and lush and mine lasted for two weeks! The men's boutonnieres were beautiful as well. The flowers arrived promptly when they should and the price was right. I really felt good about what we paid and the quality of design we received. Rich is great to work with as long as you gently guide him to your vision and then let him do what he does best - design stunning floral arrangements! I would definitely use Rich at Sylvia's Flowers again!
Over all we were quite pleased with the services the florist Rich provided. The complaints I had were that the quotes changed a few times and Rich was always "busy". However, when the big day came, the arrangements were fantastic and the bouquets were lovely. The work was perfect and creative.
Rich's vision is unmatched when it comes to flowers. His bouquets, center pieces, and floral designs are simply stunning. He offered great insight and was flexible in accommodating my budget. He made his ideas work for my venue, budget, and vision. All of my guests raved about his work. Thanks Rich!
I've purchased flowers with Sylvia's year prior and when I went in for the initial meeting, Rich was very creative and great to work with. We decided on exactly what we would like to see for the wedding day and everything was all set. Spoke with a few different womaen when I paid the balance and had to change a few things and they were VERY sweet and easy to work with. When it came down to the few days before the wedding, I had to call and confirm a few details and Rich was slightly rude saying "I have tons of weddings this weekend, not just yours." And the day before the wedding, I recieved a nasty phone call from him... we didn't realize we had to provide candles for the alter-piece and he wasn't very professional when he called asking about it. When we received the flowers, the bouquets and alter-piece were beautiful, but weren't exactly what we talked about, so I was just a little disappointed. Also, they were supposed to arrange the flowers on top of the wedding cake, but I was told later that they did NOT, and the reception coordinator did all of it herself. While the woman in the office and store front were great to work with, I would not reccomend going with this florist for your wedding.
Rich delivered. Brides bouqet was goregeous, so were bridesmaids. Venue arrangements were great. On-time delivery!
I loved working with Sylvia's flowers for my wedding. Richard is a creative genius. I told him my colors and what I was looking for and he was able to translate it into exactly what I wanted but still stay within my budget. Sylvia's was also very accommodating when I had last minute requests and were quick to return phone calls and emails. I absolutely recommend Sylvia's flowers!
My family has been going to Sylvia's for over 25 years. When I was getting married, there wasn't a question in our mind about a florist- we knew we'd use Sylvia's. Our meeting with Rich was very helpful and he guided us in the right direction whenever there was a question about colors or types of flowers. We were constantly reassured that we were in "the best hands" with Rich. Unfortunately, come the wedding day, several things went awry. The deliverers didn't know they were to bring some of the bouquets to my house so we called them and they ran them over quickly, but they were still late and we didn't get to take the pictures we had wanted to at my house. We got to the church and the lace flower girl baskets we had bought on our own and gave to Sylvia's to put flowers in were missing. It turns out the driver took them to another wedding. That was over $140 we never saw. The boutonnieres were also not done correctly. The groom and fathers were to have different flowers than the groomsmen and ushers, but everyone had the same. The bridesmaids bouquets were pretty but one of the flowers used had already started wilting when we got them. While none of this even came close to upsetting me on my wedding day, the whole experience was just very disappointing. Sylvia's is the most expensive florist around and this time, the extra money did not give us the reassurance it should have. The customer service there is not always its best either. Alexa is a joy to work with and Rich was too, but most others are not very friendly or personable.
Rich, the floral designer, is extremely friendly, outgoing, passionate, and knowledgeable. He seems to love weddings and has an eye for knowing what will work without being a pushy sales person. He was considerate about our allergies to scents and to our budget. For example, he made us the perfect affordable throw bouquet and the shop went above and beyond when they prepared vases we provided when they received them a few weeks before the wedding, even going the extra mile by taking off the price stickers and filling them with marbles. We weren’t too picky about the specific flowers; we allowed Rich to choose flowers that had no scent, were reasonably priced, and matched our color scheme. They bouquets were beautiful! My bouquet was huge and required my husband’s help holding it during all of the photos. I did think that of all of the bouquets, my bouquet was the only one that had brown edges on some of the roses, but it didn’t show in pictures. I was probably the only one to notice. Our center pieces, three hydrangea each in their own vase, were as simple as can be and it worked out just perfectly. The hydrangea lasted for days as long as they were kept in water. At Rich’s suggestion because I didn’t want the men to wear pink or purple, the men received blue hyacinth boutonnieres. By the end of the night, none of their hyacinth were intact because the little blossoms fell off after hugging family and friends all night. Overall, Sylvia’s was a good choice because Rich is an artist and he’s willing to work with his customers to make them happy.
I really enjoyed working with Amlings for my wedding flowers. I went in knowing that I wanted my flowers to be purple and white. My consultant recommended purple campanulas for my accent flower. It was so great because it is unique flower and I felt special having those beautiful bell shaped flowers in our bouquets. I got everything that I wanted when it came to my flowers. For example, I didn't want any filler in the corsages or boutonnieres. The florist recommended a bunch of things I might like, but in the end she gave me what I wanted. I had a beautiful wedding and the flowers totally added to it.
They had a great vision for my wedding day, but when it came time to deliver I didn't get what I was promised. The flowers were still pretty, but not what I asked for.
Initially I met with a few florists recommended by our venue, but Sylvia's beat them all by far. I consulted with Rich for my 10/08/11 wedding, and it was wonderful. I brought my "inspiration" pictures and he was off! He had awesome ideas. Some things I was unsure of on paper, but I trusted him completely.
In addition to bridal party flowers, Sylvia's provided a willow branch cake ring and black arch covered in willow branchs, lights, flowers and greenery. In our outdoor setting it looked AMAZING! Sylvia's prices were extremely reasonable, and Rich was very flexible and helped stay within my budget. The only minor blip we had was the flower girl baskets. The basket I was shown at consultation was not the same basket I received on my wedding day. The baskets were still cute, but not what I ordered.
When I saw the finished products, all the bouquets were amazing - especially mine! Everyone was asking who our florist was! Overall, I could not have been happier with how everything turned out!
Rich gave us beautiful flowers, wonderful centerpieces, and a nice arch for the ceremony. There were some challenges with Rich's traditional view of flowers and my desire for something different, but in the end, we found common ground and all of the flowers and centerpieces looked great. They did try to tack on some extra charges at the end that there was NO mention of previously, but it all worked out in the end.
I went into my appointments with Rich, not exactly knowing what I wanted. He suggested some things and I still wasn't 100% convinced, but it turned out amazing! I loved the bouquets and the centerpieces. Rich is very talented and knew what I wanted even if I couldn't really articulate that to him.
To be honest, Sylvia's was not my favorite flower shop until I met Rich, the wedding florist. Do not go to anyone else. He knows what to do for what setting and also does day-of coordination so he can give suggestions that will put you at ease.
Sylvia’s was great. At our planning meeting, they explained everything so clearly, even the groom understood it. We knew nothing about what flowers we would want and Rich was able to guide us through, making suggestions and showing us what he was thinking. When we came back to them needing to cut the price, Rich was able to work with us to figure out what could be cut to save the money we needed while still having everything look good. The bride’s and bridesmaids’ bouquets were beautiful and got many complements at the wedding. Everyone wanted to take home the centerpieces because they were so pretty and full. On the day of, they showed up on time all locations for the flower deliveries.
when in walked in as a almost blank canvas, the guy we meet with asked me a few questions about what I did and didn't like for flowers, and then told me what I wanted was not right, and not what I wanted. He then proceeded to design bouquets I didn't like. When I told him that wasn't me, he again told me in was wrong and I didn't know what I wanted or should have for my wedding. We did not use him or call him back, ever. And he also wanted to charge me at least twice more then what anyone else would have charged.
We were recommended to Sylvia’s Flowers by several co-workers, and with good reason; we loved them! We worked closely with Rich and he was very knowledgeable about different types of flowers. I brought in several photos of flowers and bouquets that I liked and his vision turned out even more beautiful than I could have even imagined. He even personalized the ivory ribbon on my bouquet with a crystal embellishment to match my wedding dress. This company is so flexible. We had purchased our own vases, stones, and floating candles for the centerpieces and they were able to use our items and adjust the price because we were able to provide everything except the actual flowers. They were early dropping off the flowers and the staff is so organized and professional. We would absolutely use Sylvia’s Flowers in the future!
I loved their ideas and everyone we worked with was incredibly friendly and accommodating.
Our consultant was young had great ideas and was very friendly.
