Country Wedding on a Flower Farm
Tailwind Acres is located in rural Cresco, IA. Nestled on 27 acres, the grounds feature outbuildings from the 1940s and 1950s and a mid-20th-century dairy barn that has been renovated into a show-stopping setting for your big day. Before and after the celebration relax and take in the peaceful country surroundings.
Owners, Adam and Flannery, have made Tailwind Acres their home, as well as a flower farm, rural retreat and event venue.
Exchange vows on our expansive grounds, with prairie and flowers as your backdrop. Afterward, celebrate in our renovated barn, that features historical arched windows, glossy hardwood floors, and exposed redwood wooden beams. The barn is two stories, with ~2,000 square feet of room available for each floor. It’s equipped with lighting and power outlets suitable for hosting a great party.
Your rental also includes:
- access to the charming Tailwind Cottage, an Airbnb stay and wedding prep area
- a public bathroom
- parking
- an assortment of lovingly made tables and eclectic chairs
- and so much more!
Open May to October. Book wedding florals and design, using blooms right from the farm. Select from a curated beer and wine menu! Feel at ease with trusted recommendations of other vendors to make your day seamless and memorable.

The floral arrangements that Flannery crafted for our wedding were absolutely stunning. She is a true artist and combines unique textures and colors to create unbelievable arrangements. With very little direction from myself, she far exceeded my vision and expectations. Even more amazing is that all of the flowers are grown on her family's farm.
In addition to floral arrangements, we rented beautiful wooden tables that were handmade by Flannery's husband and vintage wooden chairs for our head table. They were the perfect backdrop for our floral table arrangements and the centerpiece of our reception venue.
We had a wonderful experience working with Tailwind Acres. Flannery was extremely responsive and accommodating to changes in ideas along the way. She was willing to work with as much direction or as much artistic freedom as desired. On the day of our wedding, they delivered all of the floral arrangements and set up the tables and chairs, so we could focus on other aspects of the day. I highly recommend allowing Tailwind Acres to add beauty to your event day, you will not be disappointed!
Tailwind was everything we dreamed of for our wedding, and more. The location is stunning, from the flower gardens to the surrounding meadows and the restored barn. There's no shortage of beautiful spots for photos and there's plenty of room for friends to mingle or dance and for kids to play and explore.
Flannery & Adam were wonderful to work with as we planned our day. They're responsive and thoughtful and they were able to connect us with local vendors such as Blazing Star, Dough and Joe, and Carpenter Coffee. We heard good things from a lot of our guests and we found them to be very reasonably priced.
If you decide to get married in the summer, we definitely recommend putting up tents. We had our reception outside and rented tents for shade.
Flowers were at their peak for our wedding in early August and we hired Flannery to do all of our flowers for the wedding!
The flowers for my mid-October 2024 wedding were beyond what I could have imagined! The floral arch was a creative and beautiful explosion of color. There was this stunning mix of dried and fresh flowers, I wanted to stand under it and take in the beauty for as long as possible!
I cannot recommend Tailwind Acres and Flannery enough! Flannery was professional from the start, an excellent communicator, and a floral alchemist! It was a pleasure working with Flannery every step of the way!
