Tall and Small Photography

Working with Mike and Erin on our wedding day was absolutely wonderful. They gave us just enough guidance to get beautiful shots, and moved quickly, showcasing their professionalism and experience. They have such a calming nature that made me feel so at ease while they were shooting. We were blown away with the images we received back (and such a fast turnaround!). I knew when I first saw their work that they would do a great job shooting events with beautiful landscape backgrounds and they delivered. Looking through the photos we also realized how special it was having both of them as every single moment was captured, especially getting ready before our first look. The value of their services was unmatched - highly recommend!!

Everything their bio says is spot on. Mike was amazing to work with and we had so much fun in the process. As an architect, I cared about having creative/thoughtful photos and Mike definitely delivered. He also helped us to make decisions for the timing of our wedding day and gave direction for posing,etc when needed. We genuinely loved having him be a part of celebrating with us and couldn't be happier with our ( many!) photos.

We love Mike! I can’t say enough good things about Tall and Small Photography. We originally booked them in 2019 for our May 2020 wedding. When we were forced to postpone the wedding only 50 days before the event, Mike was very understanding and worked quickly to get us his availability so we could replan the big day. Over our two years of waiting, Mike was communicative and extremely professional, so we were not surprised last Saturday when we met in person to learn how kind and thoughtful he was as well. During our event, Mike was EVERYWHERE. After the ceremony, he moved us quickly through group photos so we could actually enjoy the cocktail hour. He snagged us for a few shots throughout the night which turned out beautifully. He was also generous with his time and worked to grab photos for our family and guests, including separate head shots for all the groomsmen. If you’re in the Harrisonburg/Lexington/Charlottesville or Indiana area, I could not recommend him enough!

I'M OBSESSED!!! I'm going to fall behind at work because I'll be too busy looking at our wedding photos! Thank you, so, so much. Not only for capturing our special day and providing us with these amazing images, but for everything. Tall&Small's professionalism, down-to-earth approachability, and the way they put us at ease throughout was wonderful. They also got our photos back to us SUPER quick which is a huge plus. You won't regret hiring them.

Mike and Erin are a dream team! We felt so comfortable on our day with them behind the lens. We’ve generally not found this to be the case with previous photographers and feeling comfortable on the day was essential and very much appreciated. In the months/weeks leading up to our reception, Mike was very communicative and helped us nail down our photo list and timing for formal portraits. He and Erin were able to get through about 40 combinations of people in about as many minutes—the people-wrangling was very impressive! Mike and Erin also made sure to get all of the photos we wanted both before the party started and shortly after sunset, and also had a great eye for photo-worthy moments throughout the reception. We opted for the photobooth add-on, which I would highly recommend to anyone planning an event. It was a great way to get some extra (and unique) photos of people being silly—including the photographers themselves!

Disclaimer- I did not even end up booking tall and small for photography at my wedding, however, their customer service is outstanding, both Mike and Erin are very responsive and patient in the planning/budgeting stages and their photography is unique and beautiful imo. Also, they seem to be a more budget friendly option! Loved working with these two, although too briefly.

Best photographer in Charlottesville! We hired Mike to photograph our daughter's wedding and he was amazing. He was very responsive and professional. He captured every detail of the wedding day and did so in an unobtrusive, fun way. We had the photos 2 weeks after the wedding day and were amazed at how beautiful they were. It rained on her wedding day and he brought a clear umbrella to photograph the bride and groom at night. The shots in the rain were our favorite shots - very impressive. He was fantastic - I can't recommend them highly enough.

We had the remnants of a hurricane come through on our wedding day and Mike somehow turned that into a great thing! Our photos were all amazing, but the ones in the rain were absolutely incredible. Our family and friends are still raving over them! I never thought I’d be more happy about using our rain plan than our original plan

We worked with Erin and Mike for our wedding in September and absolutely loved working with them. Here are a few reasons they were amazing: 1. Very professional and organized - they'll have you fill out a detailed questionnaire so they are on the same page with you 2. Make you feel very comfortable - I feel so awkward when people take my picture. They did a really good job of putting me at ease. 3. Go with the flow- Other than the big family photos, I didn't know exactly what pictures I wanted taken a the wedding. I just ask them to go with they thought would be good. They got amazing pictures! 4. BEAUTIFUL Pictures - we love the photos they took both for our wedding and engagement shoot. They got some amazing candid shots and some beautiful artistic ones as well. 5. Lots of Pictures - They took a ton of pictures and got great coverage of the entire event

Mike and Erin are the best! Not only are they super easy to work with but they have a creative vision that created some amazing pictures for us! Neither my husband nor I are super comfortable in front of the camera but Mike and Erin made us feel totally at ease. We would highly recommend them! They really captured our wedding day perfectly and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

We used Mike and Erin for our wedding, and they were so great! It was easy to communicate with them leading up to the wedding as they were very responsive. They went over all of our photography wants in advance so the wedding day was a breeze. They were so fun and accommodating on our actual wedding day. We got the photos back quickly, and they all look amazing! There are so many, and they are all truly amazing. Hands down one of the best decisions we made regarding our wedding day. We hired Mike for our wedding photography and engagement shoot. From the start to the very end he was incredibly responsive and thorough. The planning guide they use was so helpful for outlining the photos and timeline of the day. My husband and I got married in a Catholic Church, and Mike could not have been more respectful. He is truly an expert in his field. On the wedding day, we had many big group photos we had to capture in a short amount of time. Mike wrangled all of the family and friends quickly and so smoothly. He had a way of making every movement and shoot so seamless, it took so much stress out of the day. We could not have been happier with our choice of photographer, I recommend them so highly. We described the style we wanted and it the photos are absolutely stunning. Thanks again, we are so thrilled!!

We thoroughly enjoyed working with TALL & small leading up to and on our wedding day. In addition to excellent communication prior to our wedding, we felt comfortable and at ease working with Mike on our wedding day, even though it was the first time we met! In addition to putting us at ease, he was extremely organized and professional. And we could not be happier with the photos he shared afterwards. He did a beautiful job capturing the important moments of the day, in both formal and informal shots. We definitely want to work with them again in the future!

Tall + Small were one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day! The shots they come up with are phenomenal and they did a great job accurately capturing our day. From the more formal ceremony shots to the fun reception shots, they did a great job showcasing the tone of the day. They also are extremely efficient and we finished taking our pictures much faster than we had estimated giving my husband and I some down time just to ourselves, which honestly was one of my favorite moments from our wedding day. Mike and Erin are such a pleasure to work with and do a great job of making you feel natural in front of the camera. They also are extremely fast with getting your photos back to you, which we really appreciated! All in all I can't recommend these two enough!

We couldn't be more thrilled with the way our wedding pictures turned out! The photos are mind-blowingly fabulous! Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. We are SO grateful we found Tall + Small - from the start they were prompt, professional, and wonderful to work with. Their eye is impeccable - after the wedding and before we received our pictures, we would say stuff like, 'Oh gosh, I hope they got that moment!' and of course, when we received everything, not only did they get every single moment we were wondering about with multiple stills, they captured so many other tiny and details and beautiful things that would have otherwise been forgotten to time - and not only did they just photograph that moment in time, but they photographed it from the best angle, with the best lighting and editing that anyone could wish for. We have so many INCREDIBLY gorgeous pictures from our big day, it's almost rather overwhelming trying to decide which ones to print and frame. On top of it all, they just happened to be really cool, awesome people to have around all night - in planning, you don't realize how important that is until you're in the full swing of things, having fun with those around you! Fantastic work! They were phenomenal at communication, incredibly helpful for all my questions, and adaptive with our last-minute rain plan just a day before the wedding. Our shots were amazing and the rain was a blessing in disguise, as we received some phenomenal rain shots! Would absolutely recommend!

Mike and Erin were an absolute delight to work with! They were accommodating, professional, thoughtful, and enthusiastic in all ways, and made our day a supremely comfortable one. I honestly don't have enough good things to say about working with Mike & Erin! We hired them for our wedding + engagement photos and it was the best wedding planning decision we made by far! If they are available for your date, BOOK IT while you can! You won't be disappointed! Not only were our pictures simply magical, Mike & Erin were amazing to work with throughout the planning process & the day of. We had a huge wedding party (20+!!!) and somehow they managed to make our wedding pictures feel effortless. We barely even noticed they were there half of the time, but the pictures are proof they were there to capture every moment! We even had guests comment how impressed they were with how on top of it our photographers were at the reception. It also deserves to be mentioned that the turnaround time to get our pictures was incredibly quick (2 weeks after our wedding, that's almost unheard of) + we got a ton of pictures (seriously, SO MANY pictures), and the quality is still exceptional! So bottom line, Tall & Small is the only way to go!

I would not hesitate to recommend Tall and Small Photography to any of my friends. Erin and Mike were so great to work with, as they took the time to get to know us and clearly put a lot of thought into every shot they took. Both my husband and I do not enjoy having photos taken, but they made it such a pleasant experience. The photos they took are beautiful!

We absolutely adore Tall & Small and their amazing works of art! I found Mike and Erin through a friend of mine who got married. Her pictures we so amazing that I was sold and wanted Tall & Small to do ours. Mike and Erin came out to Harrisonburg, VA and did our engagement pictures with us. They came out amazingly! For the wedding, I couldn't have asked for better. Mike was able to accommodate every shot I wanted. He sat through numerous requests from my family for pictures and also was all over the dance floor. Every time I needed him to capture a moment or get a picture of someone I wanted a special picture with, he was always there. We really enjoyed having them help us with capturing our special day!

We worked with Mike from Tall and Small Photography for our engagement photo shoot in September 2015. We are getting married in Philadelphia but live in Bloomington where I'm completing my graduate degree. We really wanted a local photographer to take some photos that would really show off campus and our neighborhood. Mike was very flexible in scheduling and extremely responsive. He came to our home where we did about 45 minutes of photos with our dogs. Our dogs are not the best behaved little ones, but he did a phenomenal job capturing us and them. I know we will have these "family photos" for a lifetime. We spent the last hour taking photos all over campus. As an MBA student, my IU experience pretty much took place in 2 buildings. I know the big landmarks, but Mike knows the campus extremely well and found great spots for photos. We have some that a very traditional and others that are more modern and artistic. Our shoot was on a Wednesday and the digital files were delivered to us by Friday afternoon! I never expected to see the photos that fast. It was a pleasure to work with Tall and Small photography. I'm sure our Philadelphia wedding photographer will be great, but I wouldn't mind working with Tall and Small once more for the wedding!

We had a phenomenal experience with Tall and Small. They were professional and flexible throughout the entire process, and their customer service was unbelievable. Tall and Small Photography is a husband and wife team. They truly love their jobs and were amazing to work with. Mike did our engagement shoot and made us feel comfortable from the first shot to the last. He had amazing ideas and knew just where to go to get great photos. However, he was also open to our suggestions and was willing to go wherever we wanted as well. For the wedding, we had both Mike and Erin for the whole day. They showed up right on time and blended into the background, yet got every shot we wanted! Our guests loved them both and we got so many compliments on how amazing they were the whole day. And then we got our photos… absolutely breathtaking. They sent us over 1000 edited to perfection photos only 13 days after our wedding. All in all, an amazing experience and we will be using them for every photo need in the future. I highly recommend using Tall and Small if they are available on your wedding day!

Everything about Mike and Erin (Tall and Small, respectively) is perfect. They are by far the best duo to work with and their photography speaks for itself. They were so flexible with some of our crazy needs (like making them drive out of their way to come shoot our engagement photos) and helped us figure out exactly what we needed on the day of our wedding. We got our pictures back 2 1/2 weeks after the wedding and I haven't been able to stop looking at them - they captured not only the significant moments, but the little ones as well. They were so discreet on the wedding day that there are pictures we didn't even remember seeing them be around to take! They are so easy to talk to and respond to emails very quickly. They have plenty of advice if you have any questions and are willing to what it takes to make whatever you want, happen. I still am amazed with everything when I look at their pictures and am so thankful we chose photographers who captured everything so clearly. Their photos are lifelike and bright, without looking one bit overdone or overly retouched. The pictures make it look exactly like how the moment was, which is all you could really want from your wedding day. I would happily recommend them to anyone!

Tall + Small Photography was amazing. My husband is a photographer and not the traditional type. He is very artistic and since he couldn't very well take his own wedding photos he needed to find someone to fit his style. They are open to doing the standard posed shots but they also like to explore with candid shots, experimental lighting, they also took a picture so it looks like we are floating over the circle in Indianapolis. They were amazing. They contacted us immediately after our initial inquiry, they sent us a very comprehensive survey to find out what kind of people we were, what we were looking for and specifics about venue and style. They were so sweet, very helpful (Tall actually helped the groom set up some decorations before the ceremony), they don't get in the way and sometimes you forget they are even there. They also have an amzing photobooth that was the hit of the wedding. The amount of great photos we got from that alone made it worth the $400 extra. Tall + Small are very professional, very talented and will capture your wedding in ways that you will be so happy with for years to come.
