Tamarack Resort

I’d say our experience having our wedding at Tamarack was okay overall. The day itself turned out beautifully and we were happy with the final result, but the planning process leading up to it was often stressful and felt unprofessional at times. I’m sharing this review as an honest recap of our experience. The Good • The venue is beautiful and easy to plan around. Whether you want an indoor celebration like ours or an outdoor one, both options are lovely and require minimal decorating. • Our guests said the staff was nice and the food was great. • When we raised concerns, they were addressed. Before our wedding, we noticed some maintenance issues like weeds on the patio, peeling paint, broken landscaping, and spilled drinks in the chapel. Tamarack’s team took care of everything before the big day. • We appreciated being allowed to set up the day before and clean up the following day. We did get married in their off-season, so this flexibility may vary. The Eh • Email responses were slow and often required multiple follow-ups…this part really over shadowed our experience and added stress. • Many guests struggled to book rooms or use our discount. Tamarack routes calls to the hotel through international call centers. • Prices went up after we were under contract. This was frustrating since we had budgeted around the original menu. However, the quality did seem improved, so we accepted the change. • There were a few missing details that surprised us. For example, they do not have linens that fit their tables properly. • There’s no dedicated getting-ready space. • The staff arrived fairly late on the wedding day. The resort’s wedding director showed up about two hours before the ceremony, and the banquet staff came around noon. If you’re expecting help earlier in the day, you’ll need to plan for that yourself. The Bad • Proactive communication was almost non-existent. You have to initiate nearly everything yourself, from confirming what’s included to clarifying basic details like silverware and linens. There’s no structured process or timeline provided, which made planning more stressful than it needed to be. • There were no meetings or check-ins unless we initiated them. We had to reach out to schedule our tasting, and there were no phone calls or planning updates. It often felt like once we paid our deposit, communication dropped off completely. • The entire wedding team was fired and we weren’t informed. Very unprofessional and we thought we were being scammed after not hearing back with thousands of dollars already paid. If there is a change in management, you need to let your couples know immediately. • We were accidentally CC’d on other couples’ emails and contracts, which showed inconsistent pricing and discounts. Sometimes we were paying less…sometimes we were paying more. It didn’t inspire confidence in how organized or professional things were behind the scenes. • Surprises got spoiled. I had planned a fun surprise for my husband—a “wedding steak” instead of a wedding cake. However, it ended up being listed on the final bill that was sent to both of us, so the surprise was spoiled. Overall Tamarack delivered a beautiful wedding day, and we’re grateful everything came together in the end. But the planning process was disorganized, communication was lacking, and several details fell through the cracks. If you’re a highly organized couple who doesn’t mind managing most logistics yourself, you can still have a lovely event here.
