They have newer management, so they've updated their regulations, so they are a tad restrictive on certain things, but nothing that you can't get around or that should interfere with your wedding.

ne, no one attended to them. The passing hors d'oeuvre was infrequent and scarce. Unfortunately there is no redo. The food is actually delicious. You just won’t get an opportunity to eat much of it. One of my bridesmaids, left to get takeout.

Let’s start with the fact that Darius (the manager) and Kyle (the owner) attempted to charge a $125 fee to bring in a photo booth. When I asked Darius what did the $125 cover, he ...
had the audacity to say it covers the use of the venue’s electricity and the cost to set up. First of all, the cost of renting the facility should include the use of electricity. I told Darius my contract with Taravella Manor does not state we have to pay $125 fee. Darius explained that the fee is a separate charge, and it has to be PAID IN CASH because it’s not included in the contract. I told Darius my fiancé and I are not paying this fee because we are not contractually obligated. So Darius leaves to discussed the matter with Kyle in their office while I sat at a table in the venue waiting. Darius returns and tells me that they have decided to “waive” the $125 fee because it’s not stated in your contract, but going forward we will include the $125 fee in the contract. Whatever Man! Oh did I forgot to mention, Darius told me if I wanted to bring in my own DJ, it would have cost us an additional $125 just to set up! The next headache was the fact I wanted to bring in my rental chairs, piping draping to create a backdrop for my wedding cake, and a gas lamp self-service photo booth. First, Darius said Taravella Manor’s chairs could not be removed from the facility because of wear and tear. When I spoke to Kyle, he said he paid $6,000 for his chairs, and he does not have the storage space to stow them. As for the piping draping, Kyle and Darius did not allow the piping draping because they were afraid it will scratch the floors. Please keep in mind that 1) our event planner and her crew have the padding to place at the bottom of the post to protect the floor, and 2) the flooring at Taravella Manor is concrete! Lastly, Darius and Kyle had concerns with the gas lamp photo booth because it was too tall. At this point, my lawyer sent out a demand letter to Taravella Manor because my contract and the decoration policy does not prohibit me from doing so. My lawyer and Kyle’s lawyer reached an agreement to only allow piping draping. I had to contact my photo booth vendor to choose a different photo booth option.
The timeline for the reception was a total disaster. Our wedding planner and her crew had one hour to decorate the entire venue. I’m not sure why Darius instructed a policeman to follow her around the reception hall during the set up time, but he did! Throughout the night, our wedding planner had a very difficult time coordinating the reception because Darius constantly overstepped his bounds. Because of his “I run the show” attitude, several mishaps occurred. First, our bridal party was never introduced. Secondly, Darius and his crew had disassembled our wedding cake before we had to opportunity to cut it. Luckily, my husband found Darius and told him to bring our wedding cake back out in order for us to cut our first slice. Thirdly, our wedding cake and the groom’s cake were never served to our guests despite the fact the servers had plenty time to slice and serve our guests both cakes! Guess who had to leave with 3 tiers of wedding cake and the entire groom’s cake????? At the end of the night, I was beyond upset and disappointed with my experience with Taravella Manor. Darius’ behavior was totally unprofessional and downright disgusting! To anyone out there needing a venue, please do not rent this hall to host any event.

information and were able to set a date for a walk through within a few days. We were having a destination wedding and would be in town checking out another venue. From the moment we walked through the doors we were smitten. It was perfect! We had lots of questions and they answered them all and even some we didn't think to ask. We booked them then and there. They took care of everything (except the cake). They even decorated the hall following my instructions to the letter. I’m still in awe of the beautiful job they did. Every member of the staff is commendable. We were constantly checked on to see if we needed anything throughout the ceremony and reception. The New Orleans-style food never stopped coming and was so very delicious. They cut and even boxed the cake for our guests. It rained during the reception and they actually retrieved our guest’s cars from the parking lot so they wouldn't get wet. The service from Taravella Manor is unbeatable and impeccable. Our wedding was simply magical.

I had a rather small event planned, which turned into a 225 person affair with a band, photo booth, a 12 member bridal party and all the questions to go along with it and no one there missed a beat! They were awesome and the price is so much better than any other venue I went to Westbank or otherwise! My I laws from out of state (I married a Yankee boy) were just floored with how "fancy" our weddings are in the South. My mom is a decorator, and does her own floral arrangements and 2 days before the wedding we dropped off enough decorations to fill a medium sized storage unit and no one blinked or said anything. When we got to the venue, everything was EXACTLY the way we wanted it! I highly recommend this venue to ANYONE looking to have a classy affair on the westbank of New Orleans with awesome food, and awesome staff! They truly take care of the bride and family there and I never felt like I was being a bother or that my requests were out of line. They are great! I had been in constant communication with the owner throughout the entire planning process (over a year). We discussed so many things, I asked tons of questions, and got all of them answered; then a week before the wedding, things changed. I hired day of coordinators to help execute my vision, and I think this bothered the owner. He did not like that I hired outside help. He wanted to run the ceremony and reception the way he wanted done, and did not want any outside input, or maybe female input. He wanted to be too involved in the process, telling me when to cut the cake, when to take pictures, when to do our dances and other traditional things, and that's not what I was paying for. I paid him for a venue and caterer, not a coordinator. He got annoyed, and made things difficult throughout the day, but I didn't care, it was my wedding, I wasn't going to let that ruin my happiness.
Aside from that, the place was beautiful, my guest truly enjoyed themselves, and the food was great! The rest of the staff was very respectful, and did a great job. The in-house DJ kept the guests on the dance floor! I love the venue, I just wish the owner was a bit more engaging, and open to the fact that each bride is different and you can't force them to do things in the order you want them done.

I was and still am beyond shocked and frustrated! He basically told me to reschedule or lose my money. After trying to reschedule, he told my husband the date we want will cost more money. I would not recommend this place to an enemy let alone another bride since this is the second time this has hapoened with this company that I'm aware of.

The food was the best we've had at a wedding (IT IS NOT FREEZER FOOD) everyone said how pleased they were with the food.
