Taste of Scandinavia

We chose Taste of Scandinavia because it has sentimental value to us as a place we go for breakfast dates. There were a few minor communication details that were missed, and it was hard to get a hold of the correct people sometimes. But the cake was delicious! Our guests loved the Bailey's Irish Cream flavored filled cupcakes, and the cake itself was very moist.

Our cake was the tastiest! We tried many cakes and liked these the best of all. The price was also very reasonable, which was a nice bonus! Go for the strawberry torte, it is awesome!!!

The reviews from all of our 130+ guests are in ... our Scandinavian Strawberry Torte Cake was the BEST wedding cake anyone has ever eaten!! Multi layers of cake separated by mixtures of strawberries, chocolate and bananas all covered in a whipped-cream like frosting (Ugh! to thick layers of buttercream where the frosting is all anyone can taste!!) made this both lovely and delicious! We used a 3 layer white scrolled cake stand which separated each layer and made the cake truly a standout when also decorated with ribbon, white flowers and purple rose petals. Our guests raved and RAVED about this cake! I had the cake servers swirl strawberry syrup on each plate before the cake was place on it and that made it extra attractive. See "Ruth" in their Little Canada location. She's outstanding!

I had chosen Taste of Scandinavia as our vendor for our cake from the recommendation of a friend who had had a cake from them at her own wedding. We chose their most popular cake, their strawberry tort, which has strawberries, bananas, chocolate mousse and white cake layers and with a whipped cream frosting. It turned out looking absolutely beautiful and the guests couldn't get enough of it! They were very good about designing it the way we wanted it on pillars and with whipped cream flowers. We only wish we had ordered a bigger cake so that people could have had seconds! Very reasonable price.

We were so excited about our wedding cake! We were originally drawn to Taste of Scandinavia due to our Scandinavian heritage. Kranskeke was a must try! My husband loved it so much...We ended up getting a small one to serve as a "grooms cake." Ruth was great to work with - arming us with all the information we needed to make a decision. We even requested a non-standard cake and when we wanted to purchase samples of it before pulling the trigger... Ruth provided them to us free of charge. Taste of Scandinavia was so affordable even with our venue's cake plate fee compared to other bakeries. They were able to almost completely customize our cake flavors topped with whipped cream frosting! Ruth made our vision come alive and we received many compliments on our cake from guests! We were bummed that we didn't have more time to enjoy our delicious cake on our day! We will definitely order more cakes for our anniversary and special events to come!

I highly recommend Taste of Scandinavia! We decided to do centerpiece cakes through Taste of Scandinavia and couldn't be happier with the service and outcome of the cakes! Not only was it a very fun alternative to centerpieces, but it was also an ice breaker and had guests mingling with other tables to try the variety of flavors. We had 5 different flavors of cakes, so there was something there for everyone! Taste of Scandinavia was great to work with - responsive, professional, and caring. They even created a grooms cake for my husband and decorated it specifically for him! This vendor is also very afforadable.

We served the Scandinavian Strawberry Torte from the Taste of Scandinavia as our wedding cake. We worked with Ruth and thoroughly enjoyed the cake tasting. The cake room in the St. Paul location is great, we were able to get ideas from the cakes they have on display there. We were very excited to hear that they could make the delicious strawberry torte into a sheet cake. We purchased a 10 person cake to be set on display and used for the bride and groom cake cutting and a 96 person sheet cake for our guests--making the cake very, very affordable. Everybody in attendance raved about the cake, saying it was like a banana split in a cake and some even said it was the best wedding cake they had ever tasted. Ruth has white chocolate shavings put on the outer edge in place of the slivered almonds to make it look more like a wedding cake and had a slice of fresh strawberry put on each piece. We were able to purchase our cake topper from Taste of Scandinavia as well and silver beading for the display cake, making it a one-stop-shop. The cake was delivered just as planned and we could not have been happier with how it all turned out. If I could give Taste of Scandinavia more than 5 stars I would!

Our cake was delicious. A layer of mouse or other filling was included in the price. We got a lot of cake for our money. We had lots of leftovers, so we had an extra cake party and finished it off!

We were able to taste anything we were interested in and the cheesecake we decided on was a huge hit. Everyone loved it!

My husband and I, with the help of most of my family, tried many, many types of wedding cake all over the Twin Cities, but nothing was nearly as good as the Scandinavian Stawberry Torte at Taste of Scandinavia. The cake has three layers of yellow sponge cake with one layer of chocolate mousse and whipped cream and one layer of raspberry jam and fresh sliced bananas and strawberries. It has a whipped cream frosting. After the wedding, I had multiple people ask me where I had found the cake, because they had loved it so much. In addition to being the best-tasting cake in the Twin Cities (in my opinion), it was also one of the most reasonably priced – both the tiered cake and especially the sheets (which you can use if you need extra cake). The service at Taste of Scandinavia was also really great – they were happy to do any design that we sent them a photo of (as long as it was technically possible with whipped cream frosting). We ended up going with a simple design with yellow ribbon and fresh yellow flowers, and it turned out beautifully.

We met with Ruth months before our wedding to do a complimentary cake tasting. She gave us a good variety of cakes to choose from, some classic and some unique to their bakery. Ruth was very thorough and sat with us crunching numbers to decide what was the best option to feed everyone and not kill our budget. We ended up doing a chocolate cake with Baileys filling, and a classic white cake with raspberry filling and buttercream. We did a mix of sheet cakes and tier cakes. She delivered on time and exactly as requested!!

We ordered a traditional swedish cake and had it made into a wedding cake, then added a swedish ribbon around the outside for a personal touch. Every wish of ours for the cake was taken care of! We loved the look and taste of our cake!

great tasting cake!!! Tons of compliments about the cake. They were so easy to work with!

We had two Kranskeke (ring cakes) at our wedding in August and ordered them from Taste of Scandinavia. We ordered them about a month ahead of time and did not have any contact with the bakery until the day of the wedding. The cakes showed up at the right place at the right time. They were beautiful and delicious. A hit with the guests!!

This was really incredible cake, everyone at my wedding said they had never had wedding cake that good before! Tasted amazing and was really reasonably priced- for a wedding of 100 people it only cost about $250! They are flexible and were able to make exactly the kind of cake we wanted. Great experience all around

I thought Taste of Scandinavia did an amazing job on my wedding cake. The quality was perfect, and the design was exactly the way I imagined it. AND, it was DELICIOUS!!!

We didn't have a traditional wedding cake, allthough they do offer those. We had 10 individual cakes, all different flavors. They were the hit of the reception. There was a huge variety that everyone enjoyed.
