My DH and I got married at Texas Discovery Gardens and had Sugar City Celebrations as our linens/cake vendor and we couldn't have asked more for our wedding!
We first started con...sidering Texas Discovery Gardens when we realized just how expensive wedding venues can be. We looked at everything from hotels, to the arboretum, to nice restaurants, but so many of them either had really high spending minimums (I'm talking like $30K food and beverage -that was our entire budget!) or you had to figure out all of the tiny logistics (your own tables, linens, etc.) As we looked at Texas Discovery Gardens more and more we really liked the idea of having a pretty backdrop, but still be indoors (our wedding was at the beginning of June so that meant lots of mosquitoes), and we loved the fact that there were things that the children could do when they got bored of sitting around (we have a lot of children under 14 in our extended family, and they all loved seeing the bug collection, the butterfly house, and for the teens there were so many opportunities for selfies). We never initially imagined such a place for our wedding, but it really was just perfect.
Everything also went as smoothly as it could, from the first time we inquired about hosting our wedding at the Gardens to the clean up at the end of the wedding night. Tammy, the reception coordinator, was always so responsive to my questions and suggestions, which was especially helpful since we actually planned the entire wedding out of state (DH and I live in D.C. But got married in Dallas because my family is there). Even though we were only able to visit twice in-person before the wedding week, sugar city was one of the easiest vendors we worked with.
Side note: the cakes from Sugar City are absolutely DELICIOUS. DH didn't care for much when it came to the wedding reception details, but the cake was one of them (he worked at a reception hall before so he was familiar with bad wedding cakes). His biggest fear for that day was having a dry, cardboard-tasting cake, but when we had our first taste of their sample cake, he was completely reassured. We had their champagne cake as a sample and ultimately decided to go with other flavors since we didn't want to be "too cliche", but my DH still thinks about that slice of champagne cake (along with all of the other flavors we had). That should say something about just how good their cakes are. you won't regret trying out their cakes.
