Thatch Winery was the perfect place to have our wedding. A mid sized vineyard, it's perfect for a couple looking for about 75-125 guests. We had right around 90 guests and everyone...
had a wonderful time. It's absolutely gorgeous.
Barrie and her team made everything so easy for us. Everyone in our wedding party raved about what a great job Barrie did as our day-of-coordinator and our guests all gushed about how beautiful the venue was. Planning our wedding during COVID was difficult, but Barrie was there to support us along the way. Several times we came to Thatch while planning (not on official wedding planning business) and Barrie saw us, welcomed us, treated us like family, and put us much more at ease about the wedding plans.
The venue had all of things we could have wanted. Thatch has a bridal suite that me and my party to got ready in as well as a separate private space to keep cool (late June wedding) and away from the other guests before coming down the aisle. The different spots on Thatch's property made transitioning from different parts of the evening easy. We had the ceremony in the courtyard (though they have a beautiful tent in case of rain), the cocktail hour on the back deck and the tasting room, dinner upstairs, and dancing back at the tasting room. It was nice for every part of our night to have its own space.
Lastly, the property is gorgeous. Once you get to the venue, the vineyards make for great pictures, the natural foliage at the ceremony location was stunning, and the lights on the back deck and upstairs made for great ambiance throughout the night.
Almost two months out from the wedding, we are really happy that we choose Thatch Winery - we would choose Thatch over and over if we could!
If you're interested in a Charlottesville vineyard wedding, this is the spot for you! They have everything there from the bridal suite, groomsmen lounge, outdoor ceremony area, ups...
tairs dinner section and downstairs reception area with an amazing outdoor deck! All encased in gorgeous bistro lights that make it the perfect atmosphere. Barrie and the team there are so helpful and who you want to support you for such a big day! They were accommodating to what my vision was and made my wedding dreams come true. Plus as an added bonus, the wine is delicious! I can't recommend them enough!!!
Thatch was the perfect place for us to get married! Barrie and her team were so accommodating and helpful, especially with all of the pandemic-related conditions. Barrie really kno...
ws what she’s doing and is very responsive to questions. We were able to make our day exactly what we wanted. The ceremony site in front of the arbor is beautiful, and you can decorate the arbor and barrels as much as you’d like. (It really doesn’t need much!) The bridal getting-ready room is adorable, comfortable, and practical (lots of mirrors and a private bathroom). The grounds are beautiful for photos, and there are lots of good wine options. We really can’t say enough wonderful things about Thatch and Barrie. We loved our wedding day at Thatch and would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful and relaxing wedding venue.
My husband and I had our wedding here in the midst of COVID, and we could not be happier with every single aspect of how the day turned out! Barrie is a phenomenal coordinator and ...
held our hands first through every aspect of planning our wedding, then through helping us change our plans to the intimate family ceremony we ended up having. The space is absolute gorgeous, from the outdoor ceremony space and grounds, to the upstairs seating area, and (our favorite) the stunning back deck. Highly recommend getting some nighttime shots under the bistro lights! We absolutely LOVED this venue and can't speak highly enough of it. Plus you get some of the best wine in the area!
I don't know if I can fully articulate the value of Thatch Winery and the entire team. We had to change our date multiple times, Barrie and the team went above and beyond to provid...
e us with exceptional support and be the guidance we needed. Would give 10 stars if able and cannot say enough good things about the venue for their venue, flexibility, and overall customer service.
We only toured the venue, but the biggest reason we didn't pick First Colony was just the size. Our wedding guest estimate is on the top end of what they are able to accommodate. ...
However, we were incredibly impressed by the welcome we received.
We arrived before our appointment time and were immediately offerred a (free) glass of wine while we waited. Kelsey was very helpful, put no pressure in us to pick them (which would have turned me off), and offerred helpful suggestions for other services in the area. My fiance deployed a few weeks after we toured, and Kelsey thoughtfully remembered when she was following up.
I would highly recommend looking at First Colony if your wedding fits their space.
I would just like to say I cannot imagine having my wedding anywhere else! It is the perfect amount of rustic with the unfinished wood downstairs and huge, comfortable upstairs Lo...
ft. It has a very relaxed, comfortable atmosphere which was exactly what I wanted for my wedding. We decided to rent the whole winery so we could have more freedom for planning. Heather was very communicative and accommodating; she answered my hundreds of questions weeks before the wedding date in a very timely manner, and even let me know when there would be a delay in her responses. The staff was so friendly and inviting, they were available 24/7 and frequently checked on us to see if we needed anything; they helped set up the chairs and tables which were all provided by the winery. The loft is spacious enough to fit 90 guests seated with room for a dance floor, DJ, and buffet tables. Luckily there were no events going on the day before so we were able to start decorating the Loft then, since the Tasting room is not accessible until the day and time of your wedding. The wines were crazy delicious and you get a 20% discount that can be extended to your guests, which some of them took advantage of. I only gave 4.5 stars for flexibility because our wedding was during daylight savings time and I felt like the extra money to close the winery earlier was a bit overpriced ($300/hr), but that was really my only gripe because I'm glad we did as we were losing daylight quickly since it was a rainy day. Everything about this winery was perfect and my caterer was very happy to have a prep room for his food. The stairs to the loft are a little small so I would definitely recommend warning guests to watch their step, but we did not have any complaints about it. I love this venue and will be revisiting it just for their award winning wines. I cannot recommend it enough, and you will not be disappointed for choosing them for your special day.
