Hiring Jason was one of the top three decisions we made for our DIY wedding! Here’s why:
1. During our planning calls, he immediately put our anxieties at ease. As a DIY bride, th...
ere are a million things on your to-do list, and having someone tell you, “Oh, I can take care of that!” or “I can bring that!” (e.g., ice, cups, garnishes) is extremely reassuring. I literally had questions like, “Would our guests judge us if we served Kirkland-brand alcohol?” and Jason reassured us that a) no, they wouldn’t, and b) he had beautiful vintage bottles to pour the alcohol into so no one would ever know.
2. His alcohol estimate list was spot-on. At the end of the night, we just had some beers and a few bottles of hard alcohol left. That’s a huge win when you’re working with a limited budget and don’t have room for (or the mental bandwidth to deal with) dozens of extra bottles afterward.
3. The bar he brought was beautiful. For a DIY wedding, there are dozens of décor details to figure out, and with Jason bringing everything he needed for the bar (including the bar itself and signage!), it was one less thing to worry about.
4. The drinks were absolutely delicious. One of the signature drinks we wanted was a La Copa Verde with mezcal—a staple from one of our favorite restaurants in SF. Jason absolutely nailed it, 10/10—it was indistinguishable from the one we’d had dozens of times before. All our guests told us how delicious the drinks were, and that definitely helped keep the party going.
5. Jason brings the exact vibe you want in a wedding bartender. Everyone was happy, a good amount of drunk, and just having a great time—and we didn’t even have a DJ! I’m not kidding when I say almost a dozen people told us afterward how great a bartender Jason was.
6. We’d told Jason that our crowd mostly included light drinkers (which was true!), but the vibes were so good that our friends started demanding shots. Jason probably ended up pouring something like 150 shots that night. And despite our claims that we had a light-drinking crowd, Jason came prepared with shot glasses and trays to keep the party going—which it did. (Again, this is a testament to Jason’s skill considering we literally had Costco alcohol!)
So, all this being said—hire Jason. Not only is he affordable and experienced, but he’s also a fantastic person who’ll make sure even your most dour relative has a great time.
