Welcome to our family-owned piece of Colorado heaven. Nestled at the base of Mount Princeton, just ten minutes from downtown Buena Vista, we invite you to host a wedding day that feels entirely like home.
Your guests will walk a winding path through a freestanding wooden doorway to find an outdoor ceremony meadow with custom wooden benches framing the majestic 14ers. For your reception, our gorgeous 5,000-square-foot climate-controlled barn features stunning high ceilings, modern amenities, and massive windows. Just outside, guests can mingle on a string-lit concrete patio complete with an area for lawn games, seating, cozy gas fire pits, and Bar Service Vendor, Mountain Sips. It’s the perfect location for watching Colorado's iconic pink-and-purple mountain sunsets or to share your first dance.
We believe planning your wedding should be stress-free, which is why we proudly offer the freedom to choose your own vendors. To keep budgets where you want them, bring in your favorite local food trucks or design a gourmet plated dinner. Just supply your own alcohol and our only required vendor, Mountain Sips, will take care of your drink services.

erty is perfect for a full day’s event and has all the amenities you could desire to design your day. Buena Vista is also a lovely, quaint town that our guests enjoyed exploring for several days. Everyone (the owners and venue manager) that we worked with were incredibly kind, accommodating, and communicative. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience planning the day, even from afar. We had the opportunity to host the dance on the patio, which was a total hit for our guests. We also loved the ability to customize our day by choosing each of our vendors. We can’t recommend the Barn enough. Thank you Sandy, Jim and Jayme for being such gracious hosts and for sharing this beautiful property with us and our loved ones.

One of the things I appreciated most was knowing that we had such a wonderful team of people helping bring everything together. Jayme was so helpful whenever we encountered questions or challenges during the planning process, and she genuinely wanted us to have an amazing experience. The Barn also has an incredible selection of preferred vendors. We chose several of their most popular recommendations, and they absolutely delivered! Everyone was fantastic to work with, including Mountain Sips, who provided the bar service.
Our wedding day was everything we had imagined. The scenery was breathtaking, the celebration was so much fun, and there was something really special about having everyone we love together in such a beautiful place.
Even weeks later, we're still hearing from guests about how much they enjoyed themselves. Several have told us it was the best wedding they've ever been to! It makes me so happy knowing that a day that meant so much to us was equally memorable for our friends and family.

etter wedding. Everything about the experience was incredible, from the stunning mountain setting to the atmosphere of the venue itself. It was everything we had hoped for and more.
What really says it all is the reaction from our guests. We've had multiple people tell us it was the best wedding they've ever attended! Our wedding even inspired some of our friends to start thinking about getting married themselves, and others fell so in love with the area that they started looking into buying second homes nearby.
Jayme was wonderful to work with throughout the process. Whenever questions or issues came up, she was responsive and helped us find solutions. Another huge advantage of the venue is its network of preferred vendors. We used several of their most frequently booked vendors, and they were all fantastic! Mountain Sips, their bar service, was excellent, and having such a great team of vendors familiar with the venue really helped everything come together.
The setting itself is spectacular. The views of Mount Princeton, the beautiful barn, and the surrounding landscape create an atmosphere that feels uniquely Colorado. It's hard to imagine a better place to bring together all your favorite people for a celebration.

The backdrop will be something people are talking about every time you see them after. The space itself has lots of different “area” options which helped our non dancing guests have plenty of space to spread out but still be part of the party.
We would highly recommend doing your first dance on the outside patio surrounded by family and friends and the massive peaks in the area.
The staff were also extremely helpful, answering any questions that we had an even scheduling calls to make sure our coordinators/vendors could see the venue before the day of.

We also received so many wonderful compliments about the Mountain Sips bar service — especially how friendly and fast the service was! It really made such a difference and helped everything flow so smoothly throughout the evening.
The Airbnb was such a great addition to the weekend, too. With no Wedding on Sunday they let us stay for two nights and giving us the chance to really slow down and soak up the whole weekend. It made the experience feel even more special.
Most of all, they were so communicative, supportive, and wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. We’re incredibly grateful for everything they did to help make our wedding weekend so memorable.

Leading up to our wedding, they were incredibly responsive anytime I had a question. Jayme was always helpful and thoughtful, and even gave us local recommendations for catering, lodging, and other vendors when we needed some extra guidance. Wedding planning can be overwhelming, and having a venue that was so easy to communicate with made such a difference.
The venue itself is BEAUTIFUL, and you truly cannot beat the mountain views! The property is very well cared for, and you can tell they are constantly looking for ways to update and improve the space.
While the venue is a little on the more expensive side, having our ceremony and reception all in one location was absolutely worth it for us. It made the entire day flow so smoothly and saved us from having to coordinate additional transportation and logistics between locations.
We also rented the adorable apartment attached to the barn, which I would highly recommend! It gave us extra space for family throughout the day and was especially nice for the kids, who could hang out in the yard or inside. It was also a great quiet space for anyone who needed a little break from the reception.
Our day-of venue host was wonderful and incredibly responsive. At one point, we wanted the temperature adjusted in the bridal room, and all I had to do was send a quick text and it was taken care of immediately. Those little things make such a difference on your wedding day!
Another huge highlight was the outdoor space. We set up cornhole, ladder golf, and an axe-throwing game and created an area where guests could hang out, play games, and visit. The outdoor fireplaces at night were AMAZING for a summer wedding. Our guests could dance the night away inside or relax outside by the fire and enjoy the beautiful Colorado evening.
When you rent the venue, you also work with Mountain Sips for bartending, and they were fantastic as well! We had multiple guests tell us how great the bartenders were. They were fast, fun, welcoming, and genuinely eager to take care of everyone.
What stood out most to me is that the people behind The Barn at Sunset Ranch truly want you to have the best experience possible. You can feel that in their communication, their responsiveness, and all of the thoughtful little things they do along the way.

The outdoor space is 100/10! So much space and different options for guests to hang out and enjoy cocktail hour by the fire, at the bar, or on the patio!
We got access to the space at 8:00 am and got right to work! The bridal suite was perfect for all of us to hang out and get ready. And the grooms room was nice with an addition of the attached property to provide even more space to set up and get ready!
And an even bigger bonus was our dog got to be such a special part of our day as well!

We toured The Barn on recommendation from our friends who had gotten married there several summers before, and then minute we got into our car after the tour, we both turned to each other and agreed that it was “The One.” From the stunning mountain views to the beautiful and well-equipped reception barn, this venue is truly a sight to see. It was (without exaggeration) EXACTLY what we were looking for.
What truly made our experience great, however, was the incredible team at The Barn. The owners, Jayme and Jim, are so responsive and fantastic to work with. They answered our (numerous) questions super quickly, and we felt taken care of every step of the way. The Barn is a fully customizable venue, meaning that you choose almost every vendor you use, and they provided so much assistance on that front. As soon as we booked, Jayme and Jim sent over a thorough, super helpful welcome packet that also included a list of local vendors and businesses they’ve worked with in the past. We found several of our vendors that way and could not have been happier with our selections! The one vendor they require you to use is their bartending service, Mountain Sips, and they were great as well. Megan and her team set up our dream bar, and kept the guests hydrated and happy all night long!

Jayme and Jim, are truly incredible. They are some of the kindest, most genuine people you'll ever meet. Throughout the entire wedding planning process, they were always available to answer my endless questions (I was definitely a nervous bride!). They happily let us visit the barn whenever we needed to measure or double-check something, and every interaction with them was warm and welcoming. They genuinely care about making your wedding day everything you've dreamed of.
The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking. The mountain range in the background creates the most stunning scenery, and it's something I'll never forget. So many of our guests commented on how beautiful the venue was and how perfect the setting felt. It truly made our wedding feel magical.
One of the biggest bonuses was having a full bar already on-site with their own bartenders. It was one less thing we had to worry about during the planning process. Cat, our bartender, was amazing! She was so friendly and fun, and many of our guests told us how much they enjoyed talking with her throughout the evening.
Another special touch was being able to book the Airbnb not only for our wedding night but also for the night before. Since there wasn't another wedding scheduled, my maid of honor and I stayed there together and had the sweetest girls' night before the big day. It made the whole experience even more memorable. After the wedding, it was so nice to simply walk over to where we were staying after such an exciting and exhausting day. Waking up the next morning to those gorgeous mountain views was the perfect ending to an unforgettable weekend.

The on-site Airbnb made a great spot for the bridal party to get ready and have a home base throughout the day. We also had a child-heavy wedding, and the space offered plenty of room for kids to run around safely while adults enjoyed the evening, something we really appreciated.
Our guests had an incredible time. Some danced inside with the DJ, others sipped drinks around the fire pit. It offered the perfect flow for all ages and energy levels. We’ve heard nothing but great feedback from friends and family across the board.

Despite a massive snowstorm and continued snowfall during our event, the parking lot was plowed and the patio was cleared of snow so that our guests could step out and enjoy the fire pits and crisp mountain air. The owner Jayme was exceptionally kind and accommodating, even allowing us to host our event on an off season weekend! The manager Sandy was a joy to work with. She was present to greet us on arrival early in the day to help us set up our decorations and get things ready for the bar service she runs (The Pour Trailer - also great!). o our guests could really experience the Colorado we love. The views at the barn are truly stunning and so many of our guests told us they were absolutely blown away. We had an unusually rainy and overcast day and it was still beautiful.
It was also important to us that we be close to a town both for an after party and for ease of access for our guests. Buena Vista itself is the quintessential cute mountain town and the downtown is only about 7 minutes away by car/shuttle. You get the experience of feeling as though you are in an isolated mountain retreat during the wedding but then can shuttle your guests to and from the venue without a long journey or losing steam before the after party.
The ceremony site is set up perfectly for stunning photography, the cocktail hour area has the same great views, and then the barn is perfect for dinner and dancing. The bridal suite is very large and spacious and they offer an Airbnb on site you can rent for more getting ready space or to spend the night after the wedding. We worked with Sandy as the venue contact and she was incredibly helpful and responsive!! I truly think she answered me within 10 minutes pretty much anytime I reached out to her. Any questions I had or concerns she was able to give me a solution and it's clear they've done so many weddings and have thought of everything. Sandy alone makes this a venue worth looking into! She also runs the Pour Trailer for the venue and will handle serving drinks/bartenders. We saved a lot of money on alcohol this way!
You do need to bring in all your own vendors so it can be a bit of work but they offer so many suggestions. Many of their vendor suggestions have done hundreds of weddings at the barn so they know exactly what to ask/provide. Plus you can bring your dog! Ours hung out the entire wedding tied to our head table and it was so special having the freedom to include her as much or little as we wanted. We would highly recommend this venue!!

Here we are planning a whole wedding and the person you’re paying almost $200/hr can’t help come up with a recipe for the most basic cocktail known to man. When it came to being any sort of flexible, helping us in any way, the manager was the opposite of helpful. Every question that we asked her prior to we did get answers to, but it was veiled with doing as little work as possible from her end. Or, it was going to come at an additional charge. Our day of coordinator works at that venue very frequently, who was AWESOME, knows not only the owners but Sandy as well.
There is a mandatory meeting at the venue at 8 AM the morning of your wedding. Since our day of coordinator has worked there so much we asked if she could either attend or we could skip the meeting. Which, we were allowed to do, however, Sandy was insistent on getting all of the alcohol for the wedding at 8 o’clock in the morning. Since no one was gonna be there, it was going to put undue stress on our wedding party, we then agreed we would bring the alcohol at 9:30 when we came for Rehearsal. We provided the contact for my father-in-law as he would be bringing the alcohol to the pour trailer. She then circumvented us and texted my father-in-law requesting that he bring the alcohol at 8 AM even though we had agreed on 930, cool. The fact also that you are charged for somebody to maintain nonalcoholic drinks on top of whatever she wants to charge per hour left a really sour taste in our mouth.
Overall, the facility is wonderful. Aside from the groom room if you can call that, I would consider it more of a broom closet that they change the wording on. However, For a “low low price” like an additional $300 you can rent out the Airbnb in the back for the day - just felt like a money grab.
Overall, it was one of the best days of our lives because of the other vendors that we worked with. The venue was great as a structure, but would potentially consider getting married somewhere else given what felt like not the most honest and straightforward interactions with the team.

Throughout the night, majority of our guests came up and told us they had never seen a prettier venue...just book it! bit more intimate, but it provides beautiful updated decor, a spacious bridal suite, and even an on-site Airbnb. The team at The Barn was so easy to work with. They allowed us to have access to the venue early when possible and were so responsive and accommodating since we were planning from out of state.
