simply magical. We had our ceremony on the hearth deck, shaded by the golden leaves of the property’s little forest. The cocktail hour was held in the lodge and on the wrap-around deck, our dinner was in a tent outside the barn, and dancing was in the barn. We loved how dynamic the property was; we felt that the guests could never get bored, as they were constantly seeing different parts of the property, and they were always free to roam around. Our guests RAVED about how beautiful the venue was. The buildings are rustic but refurbished and well-maintained. The minute you enter the barn, you are engulfed by the rich smell of wood! Marguerite has struck the balance between elegance and coziness; the drapery and chandeliers are gorgeous and elevating, but there is also a humble and homey feeling to the space. We were so privileged to be able to stay there all weekend—not only did this give us the chance to set up the venue the way we wanted, but we had the opportunity to really bond with family and friends over the course of the weekend. Not to mention that the honeymoon suite is absolutely gorgeous, with an enormous walk-in shower (with three shower heads!), private hot tub and sitting room with piano, and plenty of closet space! I cannot sing Marguerite’s praises enough. From day one, she was extremely flexible and committed to helping us execute our vision. It was clear throughout the process that her number one goal was to help us have an amazing weekend. On the day of the wedding, we had a total of 12 different vendors, plated meals for nearly 100 guests, and many decorations brought from home. She juggled it all, and I did not have to worry about a thing. She was so organized and confident, and she set everything up perfectly. She was available at all hours to help us with anything that we needed, and we were so grateful for all her support. No venue is perfect, so here are some considerations that we wished we’d been aware of ahead of time: If you want a band for the reception, you will likely have to rent a separate tent for the dinner (the small tent for ~100 people ended up costing us about $3000); this also means that the band would play after dinner because the tent is not contiguous with the barn. Also, although the tables and chairs do come with the venue, you will have to rent all your tablecloths/tableware/catering items separately. Marguerite has a good selection of items for much cheaper than you would get from a rental company, and she will set up a design appointment with you to go through the options, but I wish I had been aware of this additional expense. In addition, as much as I love Marguerite and wish that she could be everywhere at once, her constant dedication to making every wedding great can often lead to slow response times during the planning process. I think that she could probably benefit from having an assistant coordinator. I can’t imagine doing everything that she does on her own, but she does make it work! In the end, these were only minor considerations, and I am so grateful to have gotten married at the Barn at Valhalla. Thanks to Marguerite and her team, I had one of the best days of my life, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

lemonade out of lemons. Umbrellas at every entrance. Seamless shift to a day full of “Plan B’s” because of the rain. While others panicked a bit, Marguerite and staff were the picture of calm and patience. Fantastic day after all. Thanks you again for a day I am sure my daughter will cherish forever.

ur wedding. Throughout the entire process Marguerite and her team were incredibly helpful, responsive, and very patient with all my questions. Leading up to the wedding I had no worries about the day because I felt so comfortable with Marguerite and her team. We loved being able to have our family and the wedding party stay on site, and the ability to have the barn from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon. We got to spend so much extra time with our friends and family having the whole weekend with them. Waking up at the barn the day of the wedding was made even better by how peaceful the setting is there. People commented on how calm I was that day and it’s very much due to Marguerite and everyone at the barn. I literally worried about nothing and while it seemed like an effortless day, I know there was a whole team of people working hard to make sure that’s how I felt. The bonus of leaving the next day with the only responsibility of taking home with us what we had brought, helped out once again by everyone at the barn. I really can’t say enough about how much we loved having our wedding at The Barn at Valhalla. The beauty of the venue teamed with the kindness and hard work of everyone who works there truly made it the best day of our lives.

assed everyone’s dreams of a perfect wedding, even the weather cooperated! Emails, phone calls, all questions answered, and helpful suggestions were all part of the process. I was not there for initial tour, however, Marguerite made time for a second tour when I visited NC. The venue is stunning! From the Barn, the Lodge, the deck w/ fireplace, the cabins, the RV, the tiny house, and the Gazebo, everything was thoroughly enjoyed. Marguerite and her staff truly worked hard on Friday (rehearsal), Saturday (wedding) and Sunday (clean up). The wedding was beautiful! The reception , of which we did not see results of decorating until we made our way to the tent after pictures, was perfect. They set up the tables, chairs, place settings. The florist, Blossom Artistry, took care of flowers and table decorations! The Barn was set up with cake and dessert table and welcome table. Marguerite was there every step of the way! We received so many compliments for family and guests about the venue, the wedding/reception and what a wonderful time they had! So many lovely spots for pictures! Staying the 2 nights at the venue was so great! This was a 14 month planning process and the result did not disappoint. We highly recommend The Barn at Valhalla!

h multiple options for ceremony sites ranging from an indoor site in the lodge to the patio to multiple different outdoor spots by the pond or in the woods. We had our ceremony in the woods and it was absolutely magical, with bird song and the sound of a stream and a long, dramatic walk up into the forest for the aisle. We then had our reception in the barn, which was the perfect space for food and dancing. The venue really works well to allow you to have a bit of everything for your guests- people ended up dancing inside, mingling out on the porch, wandering the grounds, or playing cornhole on the lawn and it was really great for everyone to have something that they enjoyed doing so everyone had a great time. Everyone raved about how beautiful the venue was. The biggest benefit to the venue is getting it for the entire weekend- this was really a game changer and a huge benefit over other venues we saw. Not only did it feel like we were on some sort of extremely fancy vacation with all of our loved ones, it made logistics so much easier, with no need for people to get themselves to the venue or get ready somewhere else or find an uber to get them back to the hotel afterwards or anything. The lodging included is super comfortable and beautifully designed, with super comfy huge beds- I wish I could sleep in that bed every night, and our whole wedding party commented that they wanted to stay for much longer than we did! The downstairs game room is also amazing and made for a great spot to have the afterparty, and we even had people over to the venue the night before the wedding for a bonfire that the Barn made for us. Marguerite can be difficult to get a hold of sometimes because she is busy doing so, so many different things for the venue but we are incredibly appreciative of her being able to accommodate us pushing our date back by a year due to covid, and then us having to emergency reschedule when we were only four days out from our intended wedding date because I ended up getting covid. We expected her to say that the next available date was years away but she was able to squeeze us in only two months after our intended date, which felt like an absolute miracle, and we can't thank her enough for being able to do that and letting us still have our dream wedding despite that nightmare scenario happening! We will treasure our memories from the Barn forever.

We actually changed our ceremony site the day before the wedding and Marguerite made sure that it went off without out a hitch. Not only do you get the venue for the entire weekend there is so much sleeping space all of our wedding party and our families were able to stay on site. Her team was extremely helpful and professional and were there the entire weekend to make sure everything ran smoothly. While we were getting ready Marguerite and team set up all of the decor and it looked exactly how we envisioned it. Throughout the night Marguerite helped us stay on schedule but we never felt rushed as she would give us our options so we got to choose how we wanted the entire night to run which we really appreciated. All of our guests commented about how beautiful the venue is and we enjoyed being able to use the place the entire weekend! 10/10 recommend!

visit this venue! From the moment the wedding party arrived on Friday until departure on Sunday, everything was well coordinated and executed with extreme care and dedication. Marguerite is a jewel to work with and really goes the extra mile to ensure your wedding experience is nothing less than spectacular! It was the perfect venue for my daughter's wedding. The entire staff were incredible and attended to every detail with excellence. Each guest we spoke with said that this was the most beautiful and most fun wedding they had ever attended. Marguerite, her team, and the Barn at Valhalla venue receive the highest marks possible for an incredible wedding experience!

Marguerite is a joy to work with and she went out of her way to source the perfect napkins and place settings for us. In addition to how beautiful it is, it was so great to be able to rent the venue for the entire weekend. Being able to have my wedding party (and their significant others!) on site from Friday to Sunday morning was amazing and the accommodations are so gorgeous and comfortable. Seriously, that alone was worth every penny. We didn't end up doing our rehearsal dinner onsite but that can totally be done too. Also, the honeymoon/bridal suite, and more specifically the shower and hot tub, are not to be missed! I really can't recommend this venue enough.

he day of coordination / set up is super easy. I also hired them as the day of coordinator and Marguerite was fantastic to work with! With all of the amenities on site, you and your guests won't have to leave for anything! In addition to all of this, the actual venue itself is incredible. I had a hard time picking a spot for the ceremony because of how gorgeous the entire site is. My guests raved about the location and venue and still talk about it! I would recommend hiring a transportation service to get your guests back to downtown Chapel Hill as getting ubers/lyfts can be difficult. Overall, I am so pleased with the Barn at Valhalla and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wonderful / relaxed wedding weekend!

n fit the bill perfectly! It was important to us that our families and wedding party could spend extended time together over the weekend, and this was absolutely the right place for that. This venue is the best of several worlds, as if a serene mountain cabin getaway, joyous overnight summer camp, and chic resort and spa were rolled into one space. At every step of the way, our family and friends were stunned by the Barn’s effortless charm, and we made sure to take full advantage of the property over the course of our weekend staying there. We chose to hold our ceremony down in the Grove by the edge of the lake, our rehearsal dinner in the Lodge, and our reception at the Barn (with the cocktail hour on the Barn deck). But really you can’t go wrong here, as Marguerite has put such care and attention into the Barn. She’s constantly updating and improving it, from the hidden basement hangout lounge (behind a secret door!) to added lodging like the RV and Tiny House - our guests took advantage of all of it! We loved staying here — the honeymoon suite is incredible! — and so did members of our wedding party. We didn’t want to check out and talked about how we wished we could come back for a weekend getaway on our own to soak in the hot tub, drink morning coffee out along the gazebo, and marvel at the year-round elegance and radiance of the Barn at Valhalla. We're so happy to have had the opportunity to celebrate our postponed wedding here; it was a dream!

the top of our “dream venue” list due to the stunning location, the convenient weekend rental option, and proximity to a town near and dear to our hearts while still feeling secluded from the hustle and bustle of UNC. It was important to us to hold our wedding celebrations somewhere where our loved ones could gather, stay, and relax for the weekend without having to travel to and from a hotel. Having the venue from 8:00am Friday to noon on Sunday meant that we had plenty of time to scope out ceremony and reception options and fully soak in the beauty of the venue. Our guests were BLOWN AWAY by how gorgeous the venue is - I’m pretty sure “magical” is the top word I heard throughout the weekend to describe it. Having flexibility in selecting vendors and having endless options for where to hold each part of the wedding celebration brought a creativity and fun to planning that I’m positive we wouldn’t have experienced anywhere else. Marguerite and her team were friendly, responsive, and so helpful when snafus popped up during the wedding weekend. I’ll forever be grateful for Marguerite’s kindness when we had to postpone our wedding a full year due to COVID and for how easy and painless the rescheduling process was. Marguerite’s day-of coordination services made executing our “vision” a breeze, and knowing we were in good hands on our wedding day helped us relax and be in the moment. The Barn at Valhalla is a one-of-a-kind venue that allowed us to create a magical and unforgettable wedding, and we are so thankful to have made lifelong memories there!

ew that it was the place we wanted to be married. Marguerite is amazing to work with. She responded to all of the dozens of questions I had, and eased my mind during covid. We had a beautiful spring wedding on the heart shaped deck and our whole wedding party, plus some family, were able to stay at the venue with us. It was perfect to have the honeymoon suite the night of the wedding to actually relax after going nonstop the past two days. We would recommend The Barn at Valhalla to any and everyone!

here, there was enough space to sleep everyone there both the night before and night of the wedding. We hired Marguerite as our coordinator and I couldn't have asked for more, she was so accommodating and helpful, so many things I wouldn't have thought of she handled and things I thought I had to take care of myself she was already on it. I recommend this venue to anyone that wants to be able to enjoy their ceremony and relax. The scenery is gorgeous, the people are great, and even the beds are like clouds!

Outside of the venue being gorgeous, especially in the Fall, the reason I booked it was because you are able to have it for the entire weekend which was perfect for my guest list that all traveled from out of state. The honeymoon suite was perfect, guests thoroughly enjoyed the games available in the basement, the property offered up many beautiful photo op locations, and so much more!! I 100% recommend this venue to anyone having a Fall wedding in NC!

However, again, Marguerite and her team worked with us to make sure that everything that could be done, was done. They understand and live the meaning of customer support. From rearranging the seating for dinner to accommodate my new number of guests to advocating for myself and my family with some other vendors, they did a flawless job. I never felt stressed about anything thanks to her. They also did a great job at keeping in contact during the planning process. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking. It’s truly a destination wedding feel without having to go too far!

We had our rehearsal dinner on Friday evening followed by pretty much everything from enjoying some quiet time near the fire or down at the Gazebo to playing games of pool, darts, ping pong, and poker in the game room. Saturday was our wedding and it could not have been more perfect. Marguerite and her team were so responsive and helped us with anything and everything that we needed up until hours before our wedding. Whenever we had questions we received a response within a few hours but it was usually within the hour! We visited the venue four times during our planning and each time we arrived it was even more breathtaking. Our wedding was almost a week ago and we are still receiving calls and texts of how amazing it was!! Pictures and words do not do The Barn at Valhalla justice, I assure you if you go and visit you will not be disappointed. Thank you again for everything Marguerite!!

They were very accommodating when it came to seeing the venue a few times since most of my family is out of town as well as allowing us the time for my bridal photos to be there. On the big day, they made my dream and vision come true and even better than what I imagined. They handled everything and kept me calm the entire day. The venue is absolutely beautiful! I 100% recommend having your wedding here and would give it a 20/10 if I could. People are still talking about how amazing the venue and the wedding was.

The venue itself is picture perfect, and required minimal decorations. I loved being able to stay onsite all weekend in order to spend more time with our close friends and family. The Barn at Valhalla had enough room for us to invite all of our out of town guests to stay onsite and spend some extra time celebrating! The staff was fantastic throughout the entire process. It actually snowed in a fluke snowstorm the day before we were going to arrive and again on the day of our arrival. The staff shoveled and salted and shoveled and salted again so that our wedding could continue as scheduled. They were absolutely fantastic every step of the way and I cannot recommend the Barn at Valhalla enough!

We rented for the whole weekend, which meant we had run of the place and were able to host our wedding party in the ample guest rooms so they didn't have to buy hotel rooms, and we could have the rehersal, ceremony and reception on site instead of having to book different locations. Wedding venues are expensive, but we felt we really got the maximum use out of this place. It was absolutely beautiful, and we wouldn't have wanted to get married anywhere else.

To our surprise, IT SNOWED at the end of March in Chapel Hill!!!! This was no issue at all. We moved the ceremony into the Barn with ease. No chaos at all. Looking out from the large glass windows at the woodsy snowy scene was unforgettable. We were able to enjoy the beauty of strange weather event that would have ruined the night had we gone with another outdoor venue. I will always remember the Barn from that night of serendipity!!!

. Accommodations for vendors such as DJ and videographer were very intuitive and plentiful. Our day was beautiful and the setting was lovely. Our rental was a single day, but we would easily be willing to get a multi-day package for another event or gathering. Our hosts were prompt and courteous in their responses and forthcoming with any information we needed or wanted. Absolutely lovely location far enough from the road to all but eliminate road noise, but close enough to allay fears of getting lost. Final verdict: 11/10, will use again.

The landscaping is beautiful and the pictures that we got were amazing. It was truly the most beautiful venue I've ever seen, all of our guests were so impressed and we are still getting rave reviews. The managers were so helpful throughout and kind. Truly the best possible bang for your buck for your wedding!❤️

The Barn at Valhalla allows rental for the entire weekend of your wedding, including guests to stay with enough sleeping accommodations to allow for our whole wedding party to stay with us for the entirety of the weekend! Not to mention, the venue itself is absolutely stunning! Once we laid our eyes on the Barn, we pretty much knew it was where we were going to get married. We looked at other venues afterward, but kept coming back to the Barn. We are so glad we did! We had our ceremony outdoors underneath the trees, and despite a hurricane hitting the weekend before the wedding, the owners were very responsive to any issues that came up as a result of the storm and were promptly available. We did have some issues that were unresolvable, but the owners handled it as best they could and were very apologetic. We realize that mother nature took things a bit out of their hands, and we appreciated how attentive they were to our needs! The Barn at Valhall is the most stunning backdrop we could have asked for, and our wedding photos (as well as our engagement photos, also taken there) will be cherished forever because of it!

For us it was the perfect mix of rustic and sophisticated. The price point may initially seem high but considering what is included with the stay it is actually competitive. Don’t count it out until you see what all is included!

One of the best parts of this venue is the ability to rent it for the entire weekend, making it a mini-getaway weekend for anyone (up to 24 or so people) that stays there with you. We could not have been happier with our weekend there as well as with the new owners and staff who took over a few months after we signed our contract for our wedding weekend. They have made some great changes and are willing to work with you to make your wedding the dream weekend that you hope it can be. We would 100% have our wedding there again, and our guests kept coming up to us the entire weekend saying how incredible the venue is. Overall an amazing experience we would recommend to anyone!

The Barn at Valhalla. First the venue itself is so gorgeous and well maintained. The wide variety of resources included there is unbelievable. From the tastefully decorated bedrooms to all the included amenities we were so happy to spend the whole weekend with our family there. There were so many gracious touches included with the space. I especially loved the chandeliers in the Barn where they had their ceremony. Parking was so convenient and plentiful. The location was secluded and majestic but close to town. You could tell the owners and staff do everything possible to make the quests comfortable. They were so accommodating and such a pleasure to work with during the wedding. Our family had our rehearsal dinner, the ceremony and the goodbye brunch there and was so grateful for the attention to detail. From the game room for the guys to the gorgeous rooms for the gals to get ready, I just can’t say enough. I recommend this place to anyone for any type of event. Thank you so much for everyone in our family. Lynn G
