Nestled in Saint Olaf, Iowa just off of Highway 128, The Barn on Heron Hill is a charming and sophisticated venue for weddings and events. The elegant barn with lofty ceilings features spaces that can easily be adapted to reflect a couple’s vision. The historic building and picturesque vistas provide a romantic setting for “I dos.”
Erin, with more than 20 years of experience in events, and her brother Brent, operate The Barn on Heron Hill. The barn sits in the classic Iowan landscape, with pastoral farms all around. The building has been minimally decorated so that a couple can add their own touch. From understated to bold, the options seem endless for how a couple can decorate and set up the venue.
The Barn on Heron Hill features a number of convenient facilities. Caterers can avail of the preparation area which boasts an industrial-size refrigerator, numerous outlets, and a sink. Dressing rooms are also available, as are restrooms for guests. Inside the barn, tables can be arranged in a variety of layouts, while also providing space for buffet tables and DJ equipment. The property's Victorian home includes a staircase that can be used for photographs. Outside, there is a large area for parking as well. Vendors can easily access the main entrance from the residence driveway, ideal for deliveries and setup. Seating for both outdoor and indoor celebrations is provided and couples can choose to host their ceremony outside or in the barn. Up to 200 people can join a couple in marking their milestone moment.
Starting prices don't include service fees, taxes, gratuity, and rental fees. Guest count and seasonality may also affect prices. Peak season for this venue is Apr-Oct.

This venue was absolutely beautiful, perfect for our needs, and exactly what we were looking for. Erin and Brent were accommodating, helpful, and always open to provide suggestions and support for the day of and leading up to the wedding. Would definitely recommend!

We absolutely loved having our wedding here! Brett and Erin were awesome to work with and helped make our hopes and dreams for the day come to life (especially our signature drink, Barnyard Buzz!) The barn was the perfect size for the amount of guests we invited and has the perfect rustic charm for the farm girl in me. The bridal prep room in the house was a great place for the women to get ready in the morning and it had enough space for hair and makeup to be done on multiple girls at once. The outdoor space for the ceremony was far enough away from the road so it keeps the intimate feel with no extra noise. I loved the walkway down from the barn with the fencing - it keeps the groom from sneaking a peek before the walk down the aisle. There were so many places to take pictures, including with the goats! The barn has ample space for a dance floor and gives you the "barn dance atmosphere" as well. I can not recommend this place enough for couples who love a more intimate venue with a rustic/country feel, and small town-Iowa charm. If I could relive my wedding day all over again, I would 100% do it here every time!

Erin, Brent & Heather are such genuine people and really helped our wedding come together seamlessly! The barn is so gorgeous, spacious, and dreamy inside. The area leading out to the gazebo is lovely, and the prep suites in the farmhouse worked perfectly for our bridal party. Altogether, we had a perfect wedding weekend. Erin was such a sweetheart running around helping out with food, bartending, cleaning, and just being all around *the best*! She was also great at communicating with me and answering my numerous questions in the whole year leading up to our event. I would book this venue again in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone.

I would recommend this venue 1000 times over it’s such a genuine experience overall, and the owners bartend as well, which makes it even more “homey” vibes 💕☺️ and also you get a kick ass beautiful barn 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Erin and Brent are an amazing sibling team that willingly works hard to make your wedding day perfect. They were accommodating to our requests and even went beyond what they currently offered to meet our vision. Erin was helpful and stayed in contact throughout the year before our wedding. She was amazing about responding back to us within the day and typically within a few hours of our questions, and she always made me feel welcome to reach out if I had any more questions. Brent was also amazing about responding in a timely manner and helped us with setting up for the day. His fiance, Erin, and he were amazing bartenders the night of and even made cocktails despite not typically doing so. Brent is also an animal lover and has a small hobby farm in the making with his fiance, and as a result, it adds a little something extra to their beautiful 100+ year old farm venue. As an added plus, if you are stressed about not having everything you need to decorate your venue, they have a large supply of decorations, including fake candles, foliage, signs, candle holders, and more! If you are looking for a venue that not only provides a beautiful backdrop for your special day but also a supportive team that helps make the venue into the place you envisioned, I would highly suggest the Barn on Heron Hill! :) Thank you, guys, again, you were amazing!

They were the only venue we looked at, and it was love at first sight!! Between the Barn and the old farm house that holds the Bridal & Groom Suites, it’s beyond beautiful! Everything was so perfect! Erin was so wonderful and great at communicating! She answered all of my questions and helped me make sure that I was prepared the closer it got to the big day! The layout of the buffet tables and my dessert bar worked out perfect for people to grab all of the yummy goodness! Absolutely perfect all the way around!! I wish the night didn’t have to end! It definitely felt like we gained some new friends that night! Thank you so much!!

This venue is Amazing! Not only is it beautiful inside and out. Erin and Brent are awesome! Erin was very responsive in answering to any questions I had and Brent has done a wonderful job with the venue itself! There are so many little perks that other venues in the area do not offer. I was able to have the wedding of my dreams because of this place. One of the best parts is the goats!

Erin was so easy to work with. She worked with us while we figured out a wedding day and was super accommodating when we said we just needed a place for a ceremony. She answered all questions within a timely manner and the contract provided all the information you need. It's a beautiful location with both options to have your ceremony outside at the gazebo or inside the barn. We would highly recommend this location for any event you may be having not just weddings! Can't wait to attend two weddings in the following months to see how others bring the place together!

I would highly recommend getting married here! Erin and her team did an amazing job helping us with our wedding. It was everything we ever wanted and more. They have a beautiful ceremony place and reception spot available. Erin also was amazing to work with throughout our whole planning and was always available through email. What an amazing experience! This was a newer venue when we originally booked, and they explained their vision for the venue. Erin was so helpful through the whole entire process! She was very responsive and kind and were flexible with all our needs. When we showed up to the venue, they had completed all the projects they told us about, including the beautiful landscaping, gazebo with ceremony area, and outdoor seating area. The lights up everywhere were beautiful and I love that they have fairly lights and white tule up in the barn. It helped reduce the number of decorations we needed with the venue being so absolutely beautiful. The bridal lounge and groom's room were the perfect places to get ready and relax away from the barn and guests. They made our day absolutely perfect! I would absolutely recommend this venue!
