On The Shores of Lake Hartwell
A beautiful modern farmhouse, The Beacon Bed and Breakfast hosts rehearsal dinners and private dining events in Hartwell, GA. It's a beautiful 53-acre farm perched on the shores of the lake.
Step in and Dine in Old Europe
The Gray is the private dining space at The Beacon Bed and Breakfast. It has dark siding and stone walls, topped with a tin roof that gives it an old European feel. That vibe is enhanced by brass lighting, over-mortared brick walls, and wood furnishings in dark woody shades. You and your guests can dine in style, then take in some fresh air on the spacious patio, and chill by the gas fire pit. The Gray can hold 45 seated guests, or 65 cocktail style. You also have the option of dining outdoors on the patio with room for up to 56 seated guests, or 75 cocktail style.
A Farm and Lake-life Combo
The Beacon Bed and Breakfast offers overnight accommodations. You also get access to Lake Hartwell and the use of paddle boards, kayaks, or access to fishing at the docks. Happy hour is every afternoon from 5-6 pm, and you're also welcome to take a stroll through the pastures and visit all the chickens, donkeys, and goats.

Owners, The Beacon and The Gray
The Beacon is owned by two families – Catharine Graham and Sharon Magee, and Ellen East and her daughter, Hannah Lanier. We’re friends who share a love of people, travel, hospitality, and this beautiful little town of Hartwell. We’re not from here, but after years of being “weekenders” we all became permanent residents of Hartwell just a few years ago. We brought with us a desire to help this community grow, and to be an integral part of it.
The story of this B&B began with donkeys. Sitting on our adjacent docks on the shores of Lake Hartwell, we could hear donkeys braying. And that made us curious – we’re on a lake … where the heck are those donkeys? Catharine and Sharon went searching and found the donkeys and this beautiful 53-acre farm perched on the shores of Lake Hartwell. They were enchanted, and soon the rest of us were too. It seemed perfect for a B&B, and well … here we are. We are delighted to welcome you to The Beacon and hope you will love it as much as we do.
