The Birchwood String Quartet - Awarded Best of 2019!

The Birchwood String Quartet performed at our outdoor wedding cermony September 8, 2019 at the St Paul College Club. Their music was absolutely beautiful!! They worked closely with us prior to our wedding to make sure our requested music would be played. They were also readily available to offer suggestions and listen to our thoughts. They were extremely professional and far exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend them for any occasion!!

The Birchwood String Quartet was a flawless part of our ceremony and cocktail hour. Christy was incredibly responsive and professional - truly amazing to work with. Not only did they play a wonderful mix of modern tunes and more classic pieces, Birchwood also learned Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus for our ceremony. We couldn’t have been happier with their performance!!

The Birchwood String Quartet performed our ceremony and cocktail hour music at our wedding and it was one of my favorite details of the entire day! They play a wide variety of songs and are very helpful in coordinating ahead of time to make sure the day goes off without a hitch! We had more traditional songs during the ceremony and had them play modern music on the strings during the cocktail hour... it was awesome! I received so many complements from our guests!

These women were great to work with!! We had to source all of our own vendors and the quartet was by far the smoothest and easiest! Christy not only helped us pick some of our music but she also looked around for arrangements of our favorite songs to try and make them work. We appreciated her honest opinions and time! The quartet sounded amazing the day of and helped make our ceremony everything we wanted!

My wife and I wanted a few custom arrangements for our wedding ceremony that fit with our personalities. Christy and the Birchwood String Quartet worked with us to locate scores and learned the pieces for the ceremony. The music was fantastic. My wife and our guests loved the performance by BSQ at our wedding at the Semple Mansion. Communication was great from start to finish in arranging the performance, which was a relief during a stressful time. They also did an excellent job performing a song that we specially requested that was not previously in their repertoire including a performance with a vocalist with whom they had not previously rehearsed. I felt so much confidence knowing that the Birchwood String Quartet was going to be playing at my daughter's wedding. Christy gave constant attention to discovering what my daughter's vision for the day was. By that day I had come to rely on their expertise with music selection, working out the small details, and their overall professional but relaxed approach. When we requested a song not currently on their repertoire they found it, learned it, and made it happen. This was a great experience and we couldn't have been happier. The Birchwood String Quartet is the PERFECT choice for your wedding day. There is no replacement for the moving melodies of a live quartet. Christy and her fellow musicians are true artists and incredibly easy to work with. If you don't know where to start with ceremony music selection, Christy is available for counsel or you can listen to clips of most songs on their website. I selected traditional music for my prelude and a beautiful rendition of Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" for my walk down the aisle. My family and I could not be happier with how it all came together. My advice, do not cut corners with your ceremony music. You will be so pleased that you made the investment, and their rates are very fair.

My husband and I could not be happier with the Birchwood String Quartet. They were easy to work with, and communication was great throughout the process. We had a special request for the processional (which was played to perfection!), but all other selections came from their extensive catalog. Day-of was effortless on our part, and all the guests loved it. They played during the ceremony, through cocktail hour and into dinner, and it absolutely set the mood for our intimate wedding. Highly recommend! The Birchwood String Quartet played ceremony and cocktail hour music for our wedding in July. The music was BEAUTIFUL, and they were a pleasure to work with. I have to admit that I was skeptical about hiring a quartet - “traditional/classical” music just doesn’t fit our personalities or taste. I was pleasantly surprise to learn that Birchwood’s repetiore also includes a large selection of more “popular” songs. Christy worked with us to find the songs that fit us and the occasion perfectly. She also went above and beyond by having a phone call with our officiant (my sweet grandma) to go over cues for the ceremony. From beginning to end, the professionalism and communication exhibited by The Birchwood String Quartet inspired confidence and took some of the stress out of wedding planning. My only regret is that I was too distracted to say hello and thank them in person!

The Birchwood Quartet contributed so beautifully to my daughter’s wedding. Countless guests commented on the ceremony and their artful, celebratory music throughout. Everyone raved about the Birchwood Quartet and the selections. This classically trained group was easy to work with, flexible and immensely talented! And their repertoire is diverse and broad. I'd give 6,7,8,9,10 stars if I could! The Birchwood Strings provided ceremony music for our October 13 wedding - they were SPECTACULAR! Communication leading up to the event was direct and clear. They worked with all of the music requests I had for the big day. I'd hire them again for any special event in a heartbeat. Simply the best!

We hired the Birchwood String Quartet to play prior to our wedding ceremony and during our wedding mass. Their website has a great list and examples of many of the songs in their repitoir, which was extremely helpful in helping me determine which songs to select. It was really easy to coordinate song selection with them and they were overall very easy to work with. They played beautifully and really helped make the ceremony intimate and reflective of us as a couple. I highly recommend them.

Birchwood was amazing! They were excellent to work with and on top of playing our requested songs, they also worked with a marching band (made up of my friends) to join in on a special arrangement at the end of our ceremony. This review is simple. My husband and I knew we wanted a string quartet for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. It didn’t take long after to find The Birchwood String Quartet (BSQ). There was no question after listening to their selection that BSQ is everything we look for in musicians. Their sound is crisp, clear, readable, moving, full of heart, invigorating, and intelligent. All very evident from listening the audio clips on their website. It is clear they are capable of learning and orchestrating ANY special requests. We had a special request for an abstract piece written by a rock instrumental/electronic inspired band - they nailed it. Plain and simple - their music gives me goosebumps. On top of that, these ladies are down-right professional. Their excellent communication kept me at ease and in-the-know on their progress. They all came appropriately dressed for our wedding and performed outstandingly. I can’t tell you how many guests asked for their information. If you have the option, The Birchwood String Quartet is the way to go.

For us, the music in our wedding was essential! We wanted our guests to experience our wedding through the beauty of music, and Birchwood String Quartet (BSQ) certainly delivered! Our main contact was Christy and she went above and beyond finding music that we chose (even contacting composers of the songs). We had a variety of music lined up and she communicated with all the musicians involved in our wedding to ensure that everyone was on the same page and are able to play the music we chose. She even gave us useful advice so that we can enhance the musical experience of our wedding. Many of our guests complemented us on the music during our ceremony and raved about how much they loved it! BSQ created such an environment that was full of romance and beauty at the same time. We loved it! They also played during our cocktail hour and they were beautiful. We got married in a library and they chose the most romantic music to play then! Overall, BSQ is an amazing group and I would recommend them to anyone who wishes to make their wedding (or any event) memorable. The Birchwood String Quartet was the best and most important element of my wedding ceremony. I had wanted a very specific rendition of Vivaldi's Spring I for my wedding (Max Richter's recomposition created for the Berlin Orchestra) that was very difficult. Not only did they learn it perfectly, but there was no fuss and only charged me for the sheet music. They were a total dream and made the day so romantic and special.

The Birchwood String Quartet were absolutely wonderful! We had them play for our ceremony and cocktail hour at our New Years Eve wedding this past year - so many of our guests commented how great they sounded. BSQ also went out of their way to make our ceremony perfect by fulfilling one of my dreams - having a ukulele played while my dad walked me down the aisle. I grew up with my grandpa playing the ukulele. He is no longer with us, so when the BSQ agreed to learn how to play a song using one - it was just the perfect touch to feel like he was there with us. BSQ will never know how much I truly appreciate all of the work they did for us! Their existing library of music is awesome, too! Christy and BSQ were absolutely wonderful for our wedding ceremony! I am a music-nut and had a few specific requests but BSQ rolled with the punches, found sheet music for quite a few songs and learned them for our ceremony. As the bride, I was hiding through a lot of their performance, but I heard their warm up and they sounded beautiful. I have to say that their musical timing was absolutely perfect, they were so talented and timed everything brilliantly with the wedding party entrance, and played an absolute favorite song of mine as I walked down the aisle. So many of my guests were surprised and SO impressed with the songs and how fitting they were for the ceremony. They were very reasonably priced, too! Such talented musicians that made our beautiful ceremony so perfect.

The Birchwood String Quartet is absolutely amazing. Beyond their very apparent musical talent, they were absolutely wonderful to work with. They were incredibly flexible, knowledgable and great at communicating with me and my husband. My wedding in particular was a very unique situation with a bilingual traditional catholic ceremony. The members of the quartet were extremely professional and their ability to adapt and work within the confines of my parish's rules, the cantor and our crazy day was absolutely phenomenal. They were at the rehearsal and very punctual and reliable for the rehearsal and the day of the wedding. I can not not express in words my gratitude towards them for taking on such a vital role in my big day!

We absolutely loved the Birchwood String Quartet. Not only was their music exquisitely beautiful, but they also were so easy to work with. When they arrived on site, we had quite a few things going on, and they were able to set up and get everything going with ease. So many of our guests told us how much they loved the quartet music, and honestly, I think it was one of our best investments throughout our wedding. If we could give them six stars, we would. (Also - excellent song choices, especially if you want to do something a bit non-traditional! We had Etta James and The Cure both featured in our wedding alongside traditional classical choices.)

Birchwood String Quartet played during our wedding ceremony a little over a month ago at Camrose Hill Flower Farm. Christy and the other members of the quartet were wonderful to work with from the very beginning. The musicians were very talented and professional. They had a great selection of music, so we really felt like we could customize our song selections to suit our ceremony. What sold us was being able to have Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" as our Recessional music. They were a big hit and we great feedback from our guests too.
