The Blackwell

Our wedding at The Blackwell was an amazing experience from start to finish. We had the time of our lives, and our guests had a great time as well. Allison was our catering manager, but she really went above and beyond that day to make sure we were satisfied. Every interaction leading up to the wedding day was also handled very professionally and punctually. We could not have asked for a better experience from all the staff from the venue. The front desk, the housekeeping, the bartenders, everyone involved contributed to an amazing experience. Chef David Heckathorn created a one-of-kind menu based off a simple questionnaire of our background. He really blended Asian and Mexican cuisine together to make a unique and flavorful dinner. The presentation and service were outstanding as well. The Blackwell really helped make our venue a one-stop shop for most of our vendor needs. It also helped that most of our party and guests were huge Buckeye fans and alums. We could not have asked for a better experience from start to finish. It was a little expensive and we did go a little over budget, but we feel the value of the level of service, the quality of the experience, and just the convenience of having most of our needs met by the Blackwell (venue, catering, lodging, planning, etc) was well worth what we paid. If Allison is your catering manager, and Chef Heckathorn is creating your menu, we would highly recommend this venue.

I cannot express enough how thrilled I am that we went with The Blackwell for our wedding. Our contact was Allison Saulino and she was super professional, helpful, and knowledgeable throughout the entire planning process. She had helpful hints that worked with couples in the past and she was very hands on the day of our wedding. She kept checking in on myself and the groom to see if we needed anything, making sure our food came out on time, making sure that each member of the wedding party knew when and where they had to be. I cannot stress enough that our day would not have been as perfect as it was without Allison and the Blackwell! Highly recommended!!!

Sorry but not enough stars in this rating system for this vendor. We were fortunate enough to have happened across The Blackwell as a potential vendor for our daughter's wedding. I was connected with the quite talented Allison Saulino, Catering Sales Manager, who attended to every detail related to the event beginning to end. We elected a package. When you consider fees associated with rental of venue, tables, chairs, linens and everything else, it is well worth it. The menu for the event is custom designed specifically for the bride and groom by Blackwell's Executive Chef, Daniel Heckathorn inspired by their personal history. No two events will have the same menu... Chef is responsive if you have other ideas or tweaks and works collaboratively with the family to make sure it reflects the individuality of the bride and groom. He is just wonderful to work with. With regards to the preparations, Ms. Saulino is exceptionally skilled. She is responsive to questions and thorough. She walks you through EVERYTHING. You will have a full understanding of what your event will look like. Day of: You will know what is happening and it will be managed. At this point the facility has reached out to your vendors and deliveries coordinated. The "details" are on their radar with the intent for you to start enjoying your families for the "Big Day"! You will be walked through anything that absolutely needs your attention. They have this. Execution: This was amazing. I was hoping for a nice event. I was awed by the execution, and I knew what to expect! The event was perfectly paced, the service staff attentive and the food was better than at the tasting. Nothing was left undone or forgotten. They absolutely made the process as stress-free as wedding planning can get.

From the first interaction with the staff (specifically Allison S.), they were nothing short of spectacular. They immediately asked a few relevant questions about our needs, and set up a tour of the facility. Everything from banquet rooms, to suites, and menus were covered, and all items in between. We were even given "swag bags", and they validated our valet parking. A comprehensive information packet was given to us to review, and were on our way. The contract was easy to read, and was covered by Allison with us, and she answered every question we presented. The dinner tasting was scheduled at our convenience, and was one of the most awesome experiences, we encountered. The chef went over every item we ultimately selected, and the presentation was fabulous! They were so attentive to detail, and made individual modifications to appease both the bride and groom. The timelines leading up to the wedding were followed, and executed flawlessly. The coordinators, (while knowledgeable) weren't overbearing, and worked with our family coordinator well. The day of the wedding, everyone from the staff, were where they were supposed to be, and ensured we and our bridal party were as well. The wedding was a huge success, and we are still getting calls, texts and emails stating the same. The food was delicious, hot and PLENTIFUL in portions. The appetizers were delicious (so we were told, ours were set at our table setting, prior to dinner). Kudos to the bartending staff as well, I heard the drinks were "top shelf" and no shortage of alcohol when requested. Even the event staff was efficient and highly effective, and very polite and professional. If not for our photographer taking photos inside the venue, they would have had the room converted from wedding to reception in about 30 minutes (they allotted for one hour). Finally, the staff and coordinators were exemplary in their service, attention to detail and professionalism. I highly recommend this hotel and banquet room to any and all engaged couples looking for the perfect venue to celebrate their auspicious occasion! Thank you again and again!

The Blackwell provided a first-class facility for our son's wedding. The staff was thoughtful and comprehensive, making for a perfect evening. Allison spent a lot of time to ensure every detail, including personal needs, were taken care of. We couldn't of asked for a better location for the wedding and reception!

My husband and I cannot thank Allison & the Blackwell enough for the most memorable and beautiful wedding day! Allison is beyond wonderful to work with. She responded almost immediately to any question I had and made my wedding ideas come true! Chef crafted the yummiest dinner menu that our guests are still talking about and the waiters & waitresses were so helpful and attentive while dinner was being served. I honestly cannot recommend the Blackwell enough. I recommend this venue to any bride who is shopping for a wedding venue. You will not be disappointed!

Loved the venue but what made the Blackwell the best was hands down the staff - everyone that served at our wedding was so nice and professional. Allison our wedding coordinator was the best, she made sure we were taken care of, as well as all our family. The personalized menu was delicious and so thoughtful. We had our wedding at The Blackwell a few weeks ago and could not have asked for a better experience. From day one, the whole planning process was so easy. Amanda was amazing and our wedding day was stess free. Our guests really enjoyed the ceremony and reception and we got so many compliments on our menu. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone.

Review To say our wedding day was perfect is a huge understatement. The venue has been courteous, helpful, informative, and above all with the pandemic they were upfront and always eager to problem solve in a way that worked with CDC guidelines and our wishes. The venue was not only pristine but also updated and beautiful. We were able to have options on where we wanted our ceremony to take place and have a backup plan for rain. We worked with Michaela throughout the majority of our planning and as our date became closer we also worked with Melodie. Michaela has obviously been through this process many times before as she is organized, professional, supportive, and especially kind. Both women treated us like their top priority in every conversation, email, meeting, and even video chat when the physical meeting wasn’t timely. When we arrived at the hotel to the minute we left, the amenities and care every single staff member took with our family was beyond what we expected. Not one individual had any issues and every aspect of the day was carefully thought out and planned. We were offered every accommodation we could have dreamed of and more. We have run into complications with the university and our postponed reception date however with the help of the Michaela and Melodie even this situation has been stress free so far.

The Blackwell delivered the best service we could have asked for. They were super responsive throughout the year or so it took to plan our wedding. They were happy to give input when asked but also respected my decisions on how I wanted the event to go. They were very reasonably priced and were willing to work with us to keep things in budget. We wanted to get married here to show all our friends and family why we love Ohio State so much and ended up getting so much more. It was so nice to have hair and make up, pictures, ceremony, reception and a hotel all in one location. I would highly recommend using the Blackwell for you wedding!

I recently had my wedding here. I had many family and friends that stayed at the hotel, they were happy with the rate that we got for the rooms; as we were. It was a bummer to see the first wedding coordinator leave, and when she left, we didn't have all our final paperwork like we should have gotten. Also that when we got a new coordinator we saw so many more people that were helping with our wedding, such as, the ballroom coordinator and the catering specialist, that we never saw with our first one, looking back that was weird not to have met them any earlier. There were a few things that I noticed that they said they were going to put the tables in different places (and it was written on both of our final copies) but on the wedding day, they were in the wrong place. Which bummed my husband and I out because you didn't know where the cake was or the coffee station, and it brought the party outside of the ballroom which we didn't want. Amanda was great, not sure what happened but she wasn't supposed to be there during the wedding but my husband and I were really happy that she was because she made everything smooth.

Jaime was amazing!!! We couldn't have done any of it without her! She answered all of are questions and we couldn't have done it without her!!!

We attended an event hosted at The Blackwell. We were extremely impressed the chef came out to talk with us about the food that he personalized just for this occasion. The food not only tasted amazing but it was also creative, definitely not something you see at every event you go to. I would highly recommend this venue as it is not only beautiful but the staff was very friendly and professional. The Catering Manager, Jaime, was extremely attentive and easy to work with. You get the whole package with this venue!

I’ve worked with the Blackwell as a wedding photographer at their beautiful venue. I’ve worked specifically with the coordinator Jaime, who is very detailed and organized! She doesn’t miss a thing and has great response time to emails! She is amazing! She also worked together with me on the timeline. It’s important for all vendors to be on the same page. Jaime goes the extra mile and takes extra effort to make sure the couple’s day goes off perfectly! Also the lead Chef specially coordinated our couple’s meal by asking things like what they ate on their first date etc.! What a special touch! The Blackwell is very scenic for on-site portraits! There is no need to go off-site! It is perfectly surrounded by the beautiful OSU campus scenery. The Blackwell has a solid back up plan for ceremonies in the event of rain. I highly recommend the Blackwell for any wedding or event!

As an OSU student, this is the best place for our wedding.

Jamie & the operational team from beginning to end made my event happen so smoothly!!! The banquets team are always so kind and accommodating. The culinary team put beautiful and tasty/interesting foods for our guests. My Columbus Bridal Soiree was a huge hit at this location! Jamie helped me and reassured me during the entire planning process and I love her passion and professionalism for the business!! I even booked a couple there for a wedding this past August and things went off with a hitch for the wedding too. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THE BLACKWELL!!! I'm telling you!

The wedding at The Blackwell was beautiful and flawless. Jaime and her staff helped plan a fabulous wedding and post wedding brunch. Very friendly and professional and all emails and communication were promptly answered. The cocktail area with a grand piano and ballroom were set up perfectly and flowed beautifully. The food was delicious with a custom menu developed by the chef catering to the bride and grooms favorite foods and flavors. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The weekend was perfect!

We had our wedding at the Blackwell on June 9th and we are so glad we went with the Blackwell.The fact that it’s an all inclusive venue is very helpful.You don’t have to worry about set up and take down .I was very happy working with Jaimie the wedding coordinator .She is clearly passionate about her job.Words cannot begin to express Jaimie’s personality and work ethic .She is accommodative,understanding ,diligent ,efficient ,thoughtful and passionate.Her responsiveness was quick and timely .Having our wedding at the Blackwell was like having the wedding of the century.The food was amazing and all the staff members were very nice .l highly recommend the Blackwell for a stress free and fun wedding experience . Where to even begin! The whole experience was truly phenomenal and everyone at The Blackwell was top notch. We had our NYE wedding here. We did ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and I would not change one thing! Their onsite coordinator Jaime is amazing and made the whole process completely stress free. Anytime we met she was prompt with follow-ups and ensured that our vision came to light. Jaime is truly a professional with an eye to detail. She and her team completely setup everything-we did not have to do a thing. The chef was incredible and what we really enjoyed is that he has you fill out a survey about yourself as a couple about your likes, dislikes and also to learn about the couple themselves. He then tailors the whole meal to you. We love micro brews, and Gastro pub type food and wanted good food with a twist. He delivered with the BEST beer brined chicken with Mac and cheese, as well as the best steak I have possibly ever had (I’m comparing to even Hyde Park). I also love cheese so he did a salad with Brie crostini. Our guests raves about our food, as well has how great The Blackwell is. Everyone from the valet to front desk to bartenders and servers were truly phenomenal. I had the misfortune of getting sick and also losing my voice the night before. When I had to call the front desk the day of for something, I was delivered about 10 minutes later a whole box of teas to help soothe my throat. They truly do a great job and and want to ensure their guests are taken care of. Another perk is that like many hotels the bride and groom get the hotel room for the wedding night complimentary. This is usually a Suite, however even better is that if available they upgrade you to the Presidential Suite. This made getting ready so nice, as it has full kitchen and living room and 1.5 baths. I loved being able to have my bridal party, Mom, mother in law and other family members with me the day of getting ready. They have space for the guys to get ready as well in a nice room with a tv and everything a guy would like. If you are looking for a venue where the food is amazing, the staff is 5 star and you can sit back and relax and just enjoy your special day this is it!

The Blackwell staff is amazing to work with. Jaime is a seasoned pro at planning and coordinating and I felt SO comfortable leaving our wedding in her hands! The day went so smoothly and family, friends, and other vendors have told us how nice everyone at the Blackwell was to work with. After a little snafu in the beginning of our planning we were unsure, but Jaime and her team more than made up for it. One of the servers even made sure to bring this hungry bride her ice cream after being called to throw the bouquet. Thank you all for making our day perfect! XO

When my now husband proposed in December 2016, we had absolutely no idea what we were looking for in a venue. We knew we wanted a summer 2017 wedding, if possible, and went to at least 10 different venues. Big, small, indoor, outdoor... you name it. When we found The Blackwell, it just felt like everything clicked for us. For starters, Madison Martin is worth her weight in GOLD. She is hands down the best asset and perk to hosting your wedding at The Blackwell! She held my hand every step of the way, and helped me with every decision. She connected me to the majority of my vendors as well, all of whom I loved. We also absolutely loved having our ceremony, reception, and hotel block all in the same place. This was a HUGE perk for us! The Blackwell made everything effortless. They listened to every detail, and gave us the wedding of our dreams. From decor to the amazing food, you absolutely cannot go wrong at the Blackwell!

We recently has our ceremony and reception at The Blackwell. Madison walked us through every step of the process and was always available to answer questions. The vendors she recommended were perfect and made our day beautiful! The outdoor ceremony ran very smoothly and looked super elegant. The cocktail hour and reception was perfect. Our guests were excited about the food and drinks- it was all great. The chef at The Blackwell made sure our food tasted and looked exactly how we envisioned. I would highly recommend using The Blackwell as a site for a ceremony and/or reception. The staff was phenomenal and the rooms were perfect for our guests.

The Blackwell was the perfect hotel for our room block! Although it was far from our reception site, our guests really enjoyed being able to stay at this hotel! Madison was very easy to work with and easy to communicate with throughout the planning process! We also held our farewell brunch here the day following the wedding, which turned out to be great!

We stayed at the Blackwell on our wedding night and also had our guests stay. We loved it! Our room was huge! Our guests enjoyed being on campus and loved the brunch on site the next morning! Great price for such a nice hotel!

As the bride, I couldn't have asked for a better wedding reception than what I had at the Blackwell! Their wedding planner, Madison, is the top notch and always returned my calls/emails within minutes! The staff had the Blackwell took such good care of my guests that I even received thank you cards from some of them after the wedding! Its a perfect location, close to downtown, with an airport shuttle, and the best part is, your guests don't have to leave after the night is over! They simply head up to their rooms! The food is AMAZING! And the chef makes sure the day is exactly as planned! Its a perfect place for your perfect day!

The Blackwell is an incredible wedding venue! We are thrilled with how well our wedding went. We had both our ceremony and reception there, and many of our guests also booked rooms so they could stay right there after the wedding. The ceremony space and reception were beautiful, and the staff was very attentive throughout the whole event. The food was amazing! Many times wedding food is just so-so, but at the Blackwell the food will taste as great on the day of your wedding as it did at your food tasting. Our guests were all happy with their dinner choices as well as the food at cocktail hour. We had a small bump in the road when the venue changed wedding coordinators unexpectedly, but the new coordinator, Madison, stepped in quickly and was very helpful and went over details with us many times before the big day. She also accepted my extensive document of instructions with a smile and made sure everything ran smoothly. The suite where we stayed Saturday (and I stayed Friday night) was enormous and perfect for getting ready before the ceremony. I would highly recommend the Blackwell to anyone looking for a venue in Columbus!

My husband and I loved our Blackwell reception. The staff is so helpful - they have a wedding coordinator who spends as much time as you want prepping for your big day - I texted and called her a lot and she didn't seem to mind! The room was set up exactly as I imagined it, it was gorgeous. The Blackwell raised the head table, had chair covers, uplights, and big floral centerpieces. The Blackwell did all of our set up and clean up for us so I didn't have to worry about it. The food was really good - and so was the bar! Also included in your night is the Presidential suit which is a really nice touch.It's huge and the bathroom is really luxurious. The room was great for our wedding night and for getting ready with the bridal party. We were very happy to have chosen the Blackwell for our reception. Go Bucks!

We used The Blackwell for both our ceremony and reception. Marissa, the venue wedding coordinator, was absolutely amazing throughout the whole process. She was very friendly and provided great customer service from our first interaction to after the wedding. The staff who worked our ceremony and reception were extremely respectful and friendly with the staff. The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and we received a lot of compliments from our guests. We used their pastry chef for our cake and it was the best wedding cake we've had in several years. I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things for The Blackwell. I was a very stress-free bride and that's exactly what I wanted. I knew everything was going to be taken care of and it was.

Although we had already contracted the wedding at another venue before we found the Blackwell, I truly think this is a hidden gem of the Columbus wedding venue list. I saw the rooms for receptions and although they are perhaps lacking a bit of character in comparison to other venues, the staff is exceptional and the range of services the Blackwell has made our wedding weekend events special. Our wedding block here and the other events we held here such as the Bachelorette Party in suites and the Wedding Brunch were phenomenal. We had everything we needed. We were allowed to bring in outside food to the bachelorette party, but the Blackwell food at the wedding brunch was fantastic. There were 2 omelet bar chefs, a nice touch. And renting the Ohio State Buckeye Bus as our wedding shuttle was great. Marisa Tom, the Wedding Coordinator, bent over backwards for us at every challenge. Highly satisfied.

I loved my reception at the Blackwell and would highly recommend this venue to future brides. Rachel was a great person to work with during the entire process and was extremely responsive to calls and emails whenever we had questions. The personal touches during the entire weekend really made the event special. As the bride and groom we were able to stay in the presidential suite free of charge. We had a tray of chocolate covered strawberries, a cheese plate and a bottle of champagne waiting for us in the room after the event. The staff boxed up two slices of wedding cake and had those waiting for us in the room so we could actually enjoy this after everything was over, etc. The entire event ran smoothly and many of our guests raved about what a great time they had at the reception. Additionally, the food was great and the bar service was top notch!

The wedding coordinator, Rachel, was extremely responsive to all my and my families emails and questions throughout the entire process. We had never ending questions and she responded to all of them in a timely manner. There were a lot of small, personal touches that were very helpful and nice. For example, the Presidential Suite is complimentary the night of the wedding, as long as it is available. This was such a wonderful room! We also reserved it for Friday night so it allowed me a place to stay the night before but then also gave the ladies a place to get ready the day of the wedding. That worked really well. Also, as the ceremony was about to begin, Blackwell staff took the box of envelopes and gifts up to the suite for us so that they weren't sitting out unwatched and then it was also waiting in our room for us. It's nice that none of my family had to worry about doing that. The staff also left my new hubby and I a small plate of cheese, chocolate covered strawberries, a bottle of Champagne, and a note of congratulations in our suite the night of our wedding. What a nice touch to end the evening! We also loved that we were able to change the location of our ceremony from inside the ballroom to outside underneath their tailgating tent less than 48 hours before our wedding. We saw that the weather was going to be gorgeous and asked the coordinator if we could move the ceremony outside and it was no problem! She said they just need at least 24 hours notice. Some other venues we had interviewed needed a one week notice to change from outside to inside, so our last minute change being accommodated was great! The service at the wedding was fantastic and the food was great! We had no complaints on any part of the planning process or the execution of our wedding day. The only thing that wasn't quite as planned was that we wanted the sides of the tent to be completely rolled up and they weren't. They were just tied open, but it wasn't a big a deal. Our day couldn't have been more perfect!

We had a great experience - the ballroom was beautiful and it was great having all the space on the entire floor. All details were managed beautifully!

Rachel Remy was an absolute joy to work with. She was professional and coordinated. She had everything together and answers for every small question I had. We worked collaboratively to plan a cohesive, fun, wedding that went off without a hitch. She was even able to arrange getting Buckeye Donuts for a late night snack. The little extras the Blackwell provides to the bride and groom are just fabulous as well. The complimentary presidential suite (which has 2 bathrooms!), bride and groom strawberries, and champagne are just to name a few. They treated me like a princess.

I am the mother of the bride and my daughter and I began looking at venues 18 months out. We visited several venues and for many specific reasons we chose the Blackwell. Firstly, we had a unique dynamic with our wedding in that the grooms family is located in Venezuela and many of our guests would be coming in from various countries. That created a logistics nightmare because we needed to get our guests from the airport to the venue. The Blackwell is very accommodating to your personal needs. They ran a shuttle service for us and it worked out beautifully. Everything, and I mean every minute detail, was executed perfectly. Rachel Remy of the Blackwell is both professional and creative and fun to work with. We had a lot of extra details to attend to and Rachel saw to it that not one thing was out of place or missed. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Blackwell, firstly because of logistics, it kept our guests at the same place they would be staying, but we had an amazing space with beautiful views, delicious buffet and excellent wait staff. Our guests stayed at the Blackwell and the service, selection of rooms and rooms were all top notch. Our reception was at the Blackwell and we were able to utilize the plaza level lounge area for our cocktail hour even using the baby grand piano for a jazz pianist to entertain our guests. We used both indoor and outdoor spaces. The bar was situated so that our out of town guests could get a clear view of the "OSU Horseshoe" which was fun for out of towners. The cocktail hour appetizers were executed beautifully and they were delicious. The staff, again, very professional and courteous. I might add that the bride eats gluten free and they made sure she had gluten free options. The reception itself was beautiful. I dont need to say more, each and every detail was attended to and the wedding planner, Rachel, was on site making sure everything ran smoothly. I might add that the Blackwell was the only venue we visited that would have the planner on site the night of the event. That is huge when it comes to peace of mind. Our cake was gorgeous, we met with the baker and presented a picture and it looked exactly like our vision and was delicious. We had a wonderfully done tasting and it was hard to choose, they have many delicious options that are presented lovely. The meal we chose was amazing and our guests raved about the food. Rachel had many great ideas as to placement of things and our reception was set up just perfectly. We also had our breakfast buffet for the wedding party the next morning at the Blackwell and again, it was delicious food and a lovely presentation with courteous and professional wait staff. I have NOTHING but great things to say about the Blackwell and I would not have even thought of it had it not been for a fellow coworker at OSUMC that suggested it. It's kind of a hidden diamond as part of the OSU campus. They provide valet parking and for out of town guests it was fun for them to see the OSU area/campus. The Blackwell sits on the edge of campus, Lane Avenue, so it's a beautiful area with many photography options. The Blackwell is a 5 star hotel, however, if they werent already...they would still be getting my 5 stars. They made our wedding just super fabulous.

I cannot say enough about The Blackwell. From the very beginning, contact with The Blackwell was very prompt and professional. It was always very effortless to have all my questions or concerns addressed. When we first signed the contract with The Blackwell, Blair was the coordinator. A few months before the wedding, Rachel, Blair’s previous assistant, took over as the main coordinator as Blair moved on to a different venue. The transition was seamless. We had a very nice and delicious tasting with the chef there to explain the food and answer any questions while Rachel went through a rundown of our day. Before meeting with Rachel, my ideas were very scattered in my head but as she asked questions, she helped me organize and develop what I truly wanted relieving a lot of stress. The day of, everything was perfect! I had no worries as The Blackwell handles all deliveries, set up, and timing issues. Everything was perfect! The food was amazing, all my décor was exactly where I imagined it, and we had a nacho cheese fountain for a late night snack. We received so many compliments! Everything was perfect!

From the first time I walked into the Blackwell to check out the venue for our daughter's wedding I knew it was a special place. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful setting and accommodations for our guests. The service throughout the planning months leading up to the wedding was excellent. We were amazed and extremely satisfied with the prompt responses from the wedding planner, her ability to understand what we wanted for the entire evening, the hotel accommodations and staff in helping our guests reserve rooms, the discount they provided our guests,and the upgrade for the parents of the bride and groom. The food was absolutely over the top delicious and we received many compliments from our guests about it and the service overall. The staff throughout the evening and weekend was very attentive and went out of their way to serve us. The venue itself is gorgeous and they only do one wedding per night so that means we had the entire 2nd floor reception area for our party. This made it so much more intimate and personal. The guest rooms/accommodations were fabulous and high end and very reasonable for Columbus with the discount they provide. Once again out guests commented on how wonderful everything was. Our daughter and son in law told us it was everything they dreamed of for their wedding and we couldn't have been happier with everything. We wish we could do it again! We highly recommend the Blackwell for weddings!

My husband and I chose The Blackwell for our wedding because of the location to downtown and the campus area, which we knew our guests would find fun and convenient. The venue itself is beautiful and the staff worked with us on every single detail to bring our vision to life. We heard from so many people that our wedding was one of the most beautiful they'd ever been to! We took pride in that after all the planning and dedication of the Blackwell staff. They were so professional and we never worried about a thing!

My wedding was held on September 2, 2012 at The Blackwell. It was amazing! From the moment we visited we knew this was the venue for us. There was a change in coordinators halfway through our planning but that did not change the level of service received. When it came down to the wedding day I did not have to worry about a thing! The Blackwell staff set everything up as I had imagined as if they were in my heads. The food was outstanding and my guests are still talking about it! The Blackwell doesn't charge you for every little detail trying to squeeze all of your money. The former coordinator Blaire and new coordinator Rachel made me feel like my wedding was most important on their agenda. I didn't feel like just another client. I highly recommend this venue. I honestly don't have one bad thing to say!

The Blackwell was an incredible place for our reception. Rachel and Blaire did a fantastic job of doing everything we had envisioned down to the last detail! All of our guests were so very impressed by the service of the staff and the overall feel of the Blackwell!

The Blackwell was perfect for us since we both met at Ohio State. The service was incredible, the food beyond amazing, and Blaire and Rachel (who were included in the price of booking) were not only amazing to work with, but in my mind were included wedding planners! They were always fast to the reply, inputted great ideas, and most importantly made the day run as smooth as can be! Special touches were added everywhere- from sending up strawberry's and champagne to our room at night to including thanksgiving, christmas, and valentines day cards! They had an event 6 months before our wedding that was essentially a mock wedding for all couples having a wedding that year. It was a great way to taste their delicious food, see the room laid out like a wedding, and get some great ideas. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!

My husband and I were married last month and couldn’t rave more about our experience with The Blackwell in Columbus, Ohio. We looked at two locations for our wedding reception, The Blackwell was our second appointment one day, to be followed by two more. Once we met with Blaire at The Blackwell, we canceled our other appointments! She was amazing, couldn’t have been better. She was so comforting and welcoming to us and our families. She had the most amazing ideas, was accommodating, easy to get a hold of, had an amazing attitude and so so professional! Blaire even worked with my Maid of Honor in planning our stay for my bachelorette party. In addition to our service, The Blackwell itself was beautiful. There is so much room and the area is perfect for accommodating hors d'oeuvres/cocktail hour, outdoor area for guests to mingle and the ballroom was spacious and accommodating to our 250ish guests. The food was unbelievable. We had so many compliments on our dinner, they managed to cook about 100 steaks perfectly! We had many compliments on the rooms too, our guests couldn’t have been happier. We’ve not heard ONE negative thing about The Blackwell, they did an amazing job. Blaire Blechinger is WONDERFUL.

The Blackwell Inn fulfilled every request and vision I had for a winter wedding reception. The wedding coordinator, Blaire Blechinger went above and beyond my expectations and attended to every need and more. Every detail was taken care of from the beginning and she made the entire process so stress-free. The food was fantastic, the decor was beautiful, the staff/set up/clean up was exceptional, the price was more than reasonable, and the service overall was superb!

We held our reception at The Blackwell last month and everything couldn't have gone better! The facility itself is beautiful and offers so many extras for free that we just wouldn't have gotten from anywhere else. They also handled all of the catering and made our wedding cake and everything was delicious! I had a lot of interactions with Blaire (the coordinator there) over the many months of planning and she was fanastic. Everything I dreamed up she made happen and it didn't matter how many questions I had she always had time for me. She even handled all of the organizing of my vendors. I just had to give her my vendors and she made sure they knew when to be where on the day of. My husband and I were also given the presidential suite the night of the wedding for free as part of the package. Before the reception we went back to the suite to freshen up and Blaire had all of our cocktail hour food and a selection of bar items waiting for us to enjoy as a "pre-party". She was onsight during the wedding to make sure things went smoothly, handled every last minute change/addition without batting and eye, and if anything went wrong I never knew about it! After the wedding Blaire even had two full meals and two pieces of wedding cake with a bottle of champagne waiting for us just in case we didn't have time to enjoy it. The only thing I would change is to have my ceremony there as well because then it would have been that much more stress-free with Blaire and The Blackwell handling that too!

This venue looked like a $30,000 reception for a third of the cost. I would recommend to anyone!

My husband and I met at OSU, he proposed on the Oval. It was a perfect fit that the Bwell was located right on OSU’s campus and we had our bridal photos with the stadium as the backdrop and Brutus even came to our reception and danced with your guests!!! The wedding coordinator was amazing, she walked us through each step of the planning process to be sure to not miss anything on our special day! We even had a large room block so guests could "take the elevator home"!!! I could not have asked for a better venue! Go Bucks!

Our wedding reception could not have been more spectacular! The Blackwell helped with every detail, and guided us through the planning process. We had an autumn theme, and Chef incorporated that theme in our dinner, the colors, flavors, everything were amazing!! We even had a signature cocktail that was seasonally inspired, which all our guests raved about. These special touches made our reception unique to my husband and I and also made for a very memorable experience! The Blackwell, and especially their coordinator, Blaire, made us feel that our wedding was as special to them as it was to us!!! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!

This place is truly a gem in Columbus when it comes to wedding venues. I’m not sure if it’s their primary source of business when it comes to events, but it should be! When I was first looking for venues, I checked out almost every venue I could find that fit our group of guests. Literally. I tried to nix the venues that would nickel and dime you for everything, those with coordinators that were not responsive, and places that were just plain overpriced. As I narrowed my choices down, I searched the knot and posted for reviews of various locations, and no one had much to say about the Blackwell other than that they’d eaten there and it was pretty. I met with Blaire, the coordinator there, and after a couple of tours and speaking with her, I booked the place without my fiance seeing it at the time since he was overseas – even then, I was still a little weary of how things would turn out given that most of my picks were highly recommended by reviews fro other brides prior. It was the best decision we could have made through and through. They handled EVERYTHING -- included everything, and their coordinator was a saint. I’ve written about this venue a couple of times now on other forums to say that the place really makes you feel like you are their first and only priority, Blaire especially. Every question and concern was answered promptly and without hesitation. I loved that this hotel had only one private grand ballroom where no other events could take place on your day, and the staff’s attention was on you. The ballroom sits alone on the plaza level of the hotel and the lobby area is ideal for cocktail hours. The ballroom itself needs little decoration and the lighting made it all fit the modern theme I was going for. Ceremony sites are available as well, making it great for OOT guests. On the day of, Blaire served as our DOC, and everything went as smoothly as possible from the vendors to the details to the timing. I had quite a few DIY projects, and she was on board with all of them, allowing me to be as creative as possible and with little direction, managed to get the venue looking exactly the way I had envisioned it. I cannot say enough good things about this place and it was worth every time my husband and I paid. The food, service, staff, and hotel were all top-notch, and our guests still rave about it even now. I hope that future brides take notice of this place!

The staff was amazing and the catered to our every need. We loved the food our guests raved about the bar and the rooms for our guests were beautiful.

We loved everything about our reception venue. All staff was courteous and the event planner was amazing. We were able to use their florist and cake baker so it was very easy to put everything together. The florist was very helpful and was always available to answer my questions. For the week leading up to the event and during the event all floral arrangements in the hotel matched my wedding flowers which was a nice touch. Our location also took care of ordering special linens for our reception. I was even able to order a special 'block O' ice sculpture as a surprise to my husband. Everything was amazing. The Blackwell also offered a very good wedding rate for our guests to stay.
