The Boathouse at Millican Reserve

Let me start by saying I rarely give one star reviews because I prefer to avoid negativity. However, I have to make an exception for this business because I had such a bad experience and want to let people know. They charged me $950 for a $600 rental and lied to my credit card company in the dispute afterwards by claiming I authorized all the charges. The venue was not cleaned up how it was supposed to be, so they ended up with a mess to clean up. Bad on us. I accept that. But the amount they charged to clean up was $200 plus $150 as an "administrative fee" that somehow qualified as a damage to be charged to the card on file. I was told (when I was speaking with them after finding out they were charging me more money) that they only paid $200 to the cleaning crew. I only found out about these extra charges after they showed up on my credit card. They told my credit card company that I authorized the charges, but that was a lie. I simply didn't authorize paying an extra $350. It is bad business practice to screw over a customer like that. I don't appreciate a company that would lie to squeeze extra money out of a customer just because they can. I'm not going to claim they didn't have a right to be upset that the venue wasn't cleaned up how it was supposed to be, but what they did was price gouging. $350 was entirely unreasonable when they only incured a cost of $200. I am extremely disappointed about how this business treated a customer. Summary: if you don't clean everything up perfectly, be prepared for this business to screw you over with outrageous charges
