I live about an hour away from this shop which had been recommended to me by a friend for their reasonable prices. After checking the place out, my mom and I feel in love with the personal feel of this small shop rather than the "just another ...number" vibe we had been getting from some big name stores. We purchased the bridesmaids dresses and tuxes from here as well, driving our friends and family out for their fitting. All was well until it came time to have my dress altered. First, though the store and seamstress are supposed to keep hours until 8:00pm two nights a week, the seamstress would not set up an appointment time after 4:30pm. Even when my second dress fitting happened to also be a mandatory work meeting, I explained my boss told me I would be written up if I left work early that day, the seamstress would not budge. She simply told me then I would have to wait an additional three weeks to have my second fitting (which was just six days before my wedding). I went ahead and got written up and my mom used vacation time from work to come with me. Being frustrated with the situation, I was relieved when that fitting was over. But then I had to actually pick up my dress which was horrific. I really am not a big crier, but by the time I had actually tried it on, I was balling. The hem job was horrible with the left side so short, my shoe was actually showing and the right side long enough to actually touch the ground (which was how I wanted it). One bustle button was five inches higher than the other, revealing the back of my ankle with the dress was bustled. The bodice was taken in so much that it would not zip (I had actually lost weight as well). The cap sleeves which buttoned in had ripped off on one side and were merely attached by single strings. While another seamstress finally fixed most of the mistakes (another than the hem job), we had to go out another five times just to get my dress. This means that between tuxes, bridesmaids dresses and my dress, we travelled out 12 times...much more gas than made the low prices worth the trip. Similiarly, we did not get compensated in any way for these errors and the seamstress is still employed there. When we went in to talk to the manager about that seamstress keeping our money for something someone else had to fix, the seamstress and two other store employees ran into the room next to us, giggling, one holding a finger over her mouth and shshhing the others while they listened in to our conversations. (Apparently, they forgot the room is full of mirrors and we could see them do the whole thing.) We definitely walked away not feeling the same personal vibe that had cemented our decision to give them our business in the first place.
