The Brides Project was so fun to work with! I really wanted to purchase a used or donated dress, rather than a brand-new one, for many reasons. The Bridal Project was the perfect place to go, because they still give you the full bridal experience, where you get to try on dresses and show your friends and family! Their volunteers are so helpful and kind, and the fact that all of their proceeds go to helping families dealing with cancer make their shop even better. I cannot recommend them enough, they are doing fantastic work and made my wedding dress dreams come true!
An overall great experience! They had so many dresses to chose from, and for them all to be second hand or donated i was shocked how good the quality and range of dresses there were! They had in house seamstresses as well that were well below the average price for Ann Arbor! I went in just trying to get an idea of what i wanted but found my ideal dress! They were not pushy to purchase anything and they were all so friendly!
I love that my dress was beautiful, exactly what I was looking for, was reasonably priced, and also supported a good cause. For those who don’t know, proceeds go to Cancer Support Services. My biggest concern about dress shopping was finding a dress that could be altered without breaking the bank. I’m 5’2” and 100 lbs and TBP had plenty of dresses that were in my size range and even had some were too small for me! The volunteers took care of me, were patient, supportive, and had suggestions (sashes/belts) so I could see the complete picture. Also, I was really happy that they had a seamstress on site because she gave me the confidence to buy the dress. (It still needed alterations.) Also, my dress did NOT need to be dry cleaned prior to the wedding. Highly recommend going there for your purchase and/or to donate your dress!
Any questions?
I got my dress at The Brides Project in February of this year. It was very affordable and I really valued their mission. Margaret was working with me that day to find a dress. She was very friendly and helpful. I am about sample size, so luckily there was also a large selection of dresses. My dress was beautiful and I loved it. I also got my alterations done there, and the process was pretty simple and turned out well! Thanks for a great experience! 💕
I found my dream dress here! It was unexpected to find something so beautiful and it had fit like a glove at purchasing. I knew that this mission was what I wanted to support so I am glad to have found my favorite dress and offer support at the same time!
I had an amazing time at The Brides Project! I was trying to be very intentional with wedding purchases and I loved the mission of this place. The volunteers were so helpful and sometimes were more intuitive of what I wanted than my family I brought! Also the prices can not be beat! They had a wide variety of styles, prices, and were so accommodating.
I had an amazing experience at The Brides Project. They have so many dresses in all styles and sizes to choose from. I had tried on dresses previously so I knew what I was looking for. They helped me find dresses that matched my idea as well as some dresses that were outside that vision. I ended up finding my perfect dress, a new designer gown. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at the Brides Project. Between their beautiful gowns and their heartfelt mission, it is a must do.
The way that I was treated at this bridal shop compared to any other was stellar! It was personal, private, and the volunteers actually listened to everything I wanted and made me feel like the only bride in the world! The cause they support holds a special place in my heart and the dresses being such a fair price makes this place a top choice for everyone!
I heard about the Bride's Project from a friend and I am so thankful she told me about them. The ladies who work/volunteer there are wonderful! I hate dress shopping, but these girls made me feel so beautiful. The fact that the proceeds go to a good cause made the whole experience even better. We found a gorgeous, affordable dress that I felt great in. Their in-house seamstress Jan also did a great job with alterations!
I had such a great experience! Everyone was so kind and helpful and I felt fully at ease as I tried on dresses; there was no pressure at all. There are so many dresses in a wide variety of styles and sizes. I ended up buying my dress and veil the same day as my appointment and I couldn't be happier! It felt great knowing my money was going to a good cause as well. Much love!
I picked the Brides Project as the place where I knew I was going to be getting my dress from. Cancer has affected my family and I couldn't think of a better business to support. The volunteers there were down right amazing. I'm not a big dress person, and Diane helped me out and reminded me that I didn't need to pick a dress to make others happy, just me and if i'm finding things about it I don't like, it's obviously not the dress for me. My dress was one of the first dresses I tried on, I found it through their postings on Instagram. The prices can't really be beat, especially when they go towards such a great cause. I also got my dress tailored by Jan at the Bride's Project and couldn't have been happier with the service. 1000% will always recommend this store and the people that work here. It's worth the drive.
The experience at the Brides Project was great! They had lots of dresses to choose from (I’m a bridal size 12). I did not feel rushed at all to make a decision on whether I had found my dress. In fact, Sarah (the person I was working with) could tell I was slightly overwhelmed and told me to take some time to think about it. I ended up coming back the next day for that dress! I also loved that my purchase would support a good cause. Jan, the tailor that works with them, did my alterations. She was very quick and reasonably priced, and I loved the alterations she made!
I got my wedding dress here and I loved the whole experience! The salon sells all donated dresses and gives their profits to charity. What an amazing concept!!
While you can’t go in with a specific dress in mind (they might not have it) they did have a large selection and I had plenty of options in the styles I liked.
I got my wedding dress here in August 2021 for my August 2022 wedding. The experience shopping went really smoothly and I got so many compliments on my dress! I am not local so I had someone near me do the alterations and they told me the dress was in excellent condition and had definitely never been worn before by another bride. A little bit of wear and tear from people trying it on, but that was not noticeable by anyone but me. We heard about the Brides Project from a family friend who volunteered there. I was not someone who wanted to spend a lot of money on my wedding dress/wedding, and the Brides Project gave me a lovely dress, exactly what I wanted, at a reasonable price, that also went to support a good cause! Really apprecaited that. I'd definitely recommend to others! Thanks!!
I tried on so many dresses at the Brides Project - they have an incredible selection of different styles! Their volunteers are kind and helpful. They even have a tailor that they work with, who will alter your dress for a very reasonable fee. If you're like me and you don't want to pay thousands of dollars for a dress you're only going to wear once, check them out! It's for a good cause, too :)
This shop is wonderful! Absolutely loved shopping here and had a great experience. They have a large variety of dresses in many sizes, all in great condition. My consultant was very sweet and helpful with picking out dresses. The dresses are priced very reasonably. I wish I would have fallen in love with a dress here as it is a wonderful cause!
I had the worst experience here. I’m a bridal 12/14 and my volunteer body shamed me my whole appointment. I left feeling so bad about myself and my body. I reached out to them after to tell them about my experience and they didn’t even reply to my email (but had replied to all previous emails so I know they check their emails). Terrible experience. Don’t go here unless you have a “perfect” size 2 body.
Dress shopping at The Brides Project was an absolute dream. I was a last-minute bride. My husband and I decided to plan our destination wedding in less than 80 days--so I needed a dress off-the-rack.
TBP was my first dress shopping experience and what a positive, fun, and relaxing experience it was! I appreciated that the consultants encouraged me and my guests to look through the racks ourselves, but also provided input and suggestions based on what I liked and didn't like. In the end, I found a gorgeous dress that felt like it was made for me. My wedding dress was super unique and was unmatched by anything I found at the other bridal shops I visited.
My consultant, Jan, was supportive, knowledgeable, and great to work with. On the day I was shopping, the seamstress (also named Jan) was there and was able to provide input about the alterations I needed--I appreciated having her there as the other bridal shops I visited told me they would not be able to complete my alterations in time for my wedding (10 weeks). Jan completed hers in a month.
I recommend TBP to anyone who wants a wedding dress that's a little out of the ordinary and wants their dress purchase to make an impact on the local community.
I bought my dress in January 2021! Cancer has had a big impact on my life losing both of my grandparents! I loved to be able to buy the most beautiful dress that my husband loved and it was the best cause!
Alterations were so quick, easy and affordable!
Had a great experience at Brides Project. My consultant/ volunteer was beyond helpful in making sure my experience was not only to find a dress, but also listened to what I liked/ disliked about each dress - which allowed me to find the shape I was looking for, even though I wasn't able to find my dress. Brides Project is amazing!! Even if you don't purchase your dress here, consider donating!
This was an awesome store. Proceeds go for a great cause! The volunteer (Mary Ann, I think--sorry I forgot) was so helpful and allowed me to take my time. Many, many dresses--great prices. The majority though are white. Higly recommend
I became aware of the Brides Project when my sister bought her dress and accessories from them for her 2013 wedding. When my best friend was planning her wedding a few years later, I went with her when she bought her dress at the Brides Project. So when I became engaged I knew where I was going to get my dress. It was important to me that my purchase would go towards helping cancer support groups as well as being environmentally conscious. The dress, once altered, was everything I could have wanted at a price point I was very comfortable with.
Absolutely Loved finding my dress here. They were great about sticking with in my price rage and had a wide rage of dresses to choose from. This is very close to my heart due to my grandma having breast cancer when I was little. So glad I was able to help in someway.
When I found out about this store, I really wanted to find my wedding dress here. This store is a non-profit that receives donated dresses, and all proceeds made are donated to a cancer support service group in Ann Arbor. My mother is a cancer survivor, so putting my wedding dress purchase toward this cause meant a lot to me. I found the perfect wedding dress, but I did need alterations and wanted to add sleeves to my dress. Luckily, this store works with a tailor who comes in a few times a week for alterations. She was able to alter my dress to exactly what I wanted for a reasonable price. I love that this store exists, and highly recommend it.
I chose the brides project for many reasons! They are affordable, they have exceptional options, its for a great cause, they have wonderful staff and I could go on.
Both of my grandfathers passed away due to cancer, and wearing a dress that came from the Brides Project made me feel like they were with me on my special day.
I received so many compliments from our guests on my dress and it even brought my husband to tears. I hope that more people will choose the Bride's Project for their special day!
The philosophy of this wedding dress shop, the wonderful volunteers, and the fabulous selection of wedding dresses makes this place a complete package for any bride to find her perfect wedding dress. I was able to find a dress in exactly my size that only needed the length changed for alterations! I highly recommend The Brides Project to brides inside and outside the Ann Arbor area.
When it came time to shop for my wedding dress, the only place I had in mind was the Brides Project. I love their mission (reuse/recycle dresses, money goes to the Cancer Support Community, everyone there is a volunteer) and wanted to buy my dress there, if possible. I was amazed at how big their selection was, how many dresses I tried on that could’ve been the one and having the assistant I worked with pick out The One, that I would’ve overlooked. I would (and have) highly recommend anyone getting married to start there-beautiful dresses, great people, a magical seamstress, all for a reasonable price and for a great cause.
Everyone at the Brides Project was so kind and warm throughout the process of buying and fitting my dress. It was a great experience.
I love the Bride’s Project and found my perfect dress! The volunteers are so sweet, and the three I worked with were very experienced. They had great suggestions and encouraged me to go look among the dresses to figure out what I wanted. I had gone to a few bridal stores beforehand, so I had an idea of what I wanted. Unlike a traditional bridal salon, the volunteers won’t pressure you to buy anything because they have no financial stake. Based on what I picked initially, one volunteer said, “Ooohh, you have to try on this one dress I have in mind.” It ended up THE dress that I fell in love with and made me feel gorgeous! In addition to all the compliments you’ll get on the day of, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re giving a dress a second life and donating money to helping families affected by cancer get the treatment they need. I would recommend the Bride’s Project to any bride!
The staff here was amazing; so helpful and attentive. They have so many beautiful dresses, all sizes, colors, and styles. Have recommended them to several brides to be that I personally know.
I love this place! I got my wedding dress here and it was such a great experience. The shop is run by volunteers who are the sweetest. The dress I got was over $1000 wholesale and never worn. i got it for $400. I’m so happy too great that everything you pay goes to a good cause too! I definitely recommend checking The Brides Project out!
excellent selection, helpful staff, great cause.
I don't think you can find a better feeling than getting a dress that is for a good cause. You still get the bridal dress trying on experience but for half the cost and you know your dress is special and helping a good cause.
I absolutely loved my experience. Everyone was so kind and helpful. I was amazed at how much they helped me feel comfortable finding my perfect dress. I will recommend them to every bride to be, I loved my experience them. My dream dress was an older style I had dreamed about since I was little and they helped me find exactly what I wanted. I said "YES! to my dress". They even had a perfect veil to go with my dress. Thank you so much for being so amazing and wonderful. Loved everything even the money for my dress goes to a cause close to my family's heart.
I went to several bridal shops before discovering the Brides Project, and I am so thrilled that I did! I found the same dress I had tried on at David's Bridal for $400 less! The volunteers were sweet and helpful! Don't shy away from a "gently used" dress; it means it brought the previous wearer luck and they wanted to share it! I know that was the case for me!
I am SO happy I found my dress at The Brides Project. I was initially very discouraged about finding a wedding dress. I currently live in St. Louis and while visiting my family in Michigan, I went to The Brides Project with my mom and sister and met Kim; I still need to ask her if it hurt when she fell from heaven, because she is an absolute angel! She made the entire experience SO enjoyable! I ended up saying yes to a dress that arrived that morning and it matched perfectly with my shoes and bridesmaids' dresses (yes, I picked both before getting my dress). It felt like fate how perfectly everything fell into place. More importantly, I felt so good that what I spent on my dress (which was half my budget) was going back into the community to support local families. I get goose bumps telling people the story of my wedding dress. I am so touched by the kindness (not only with customer service, but also for the community) displayed by all the volunteers at The Brides Project. Beautiful dresses, beautiful souls, beautiful cause. :)
I highly recommend The Brides Project! Everything about the shop is to be admired, aside from the money you spend going to a wonderful cause, the volunteers are so helpful and polite, their selection is great, and the prices can't be beat. I loved that I was able to find exactly what I was looking for and didn't have to wait for months for my dress to come in.
This business is very close to my heart, and I am so thankful that I was able to find the perfect dress here. I started searching for my wedding dress when my brother had end-stage cancer, so the fact that this org donates all the money to the Cancer Support Community was something I wanted to contribute to. The prices were incredibly reasonable and they have a very large selection of sizes and styles when I was there. I tried on about five dresses and one of them was the most flattering dress I'd tried on all week! It was an Allure design that looked very high quality with lots of special details. I am not an "off the rack" size, and the woman who had worn it previously had obviously been a very similar size to me. I used "The Brides Project"'s tailor, Jan, to do a little nip/tuck, and it ended up being only $50 (would be much more if I had tailored a dress bought off the rack.) I can't say enough about the whole experience, Jan and the staff at the Brides Project were so kind and I got exactly what I was looking for, at a fraction of the price!
I love the Bride's Project! A great selection of gowns, committed consultants who make you feel special and comfortable, affordable prices, and a great cause!
I went to The Brides Project with 4 of my bridesmaids. We drove from Cleveland to Ann Arbor one Saturday and I found 2 dresses I loved. I bought my dress, originally priced for $1300 for only $350! All proceeds go to cancer research! It fills my heart that I was able to help so much while also finding a great deal on my dress for my big day. Everyone was GREAT there helping us and I just loved the whole experience.
I found a beautiful one shoulder dress from the Brides Project and instantly fell in love with it. 100% of the proceeds from the dress sale goes to the Cancer Society so that made the dress even more special. The volunteers were so sweet and made everything relaxed and care free during our time looking around
The Brides Project offers new and used wedding gowns at a discount. Proceeds from the sale of the gowns go to cancer support and research efforts. All of the staff are volunteers and very lovely. I found many beautiful gowns and altimately decided on purchasing my wedding gown there, which was originally donated by a salon in Chicago. And I know what you may be thinking... used wedding gowns? I assure you they were all clean and beautifully kept. The store was clean and organized. They even have accessories such as shoes, jackets and veils. They also offer tailoring services. If you are a thrifty bride, a bride looking for a unique dress or a bride touched by the effects of cancer, this is your place!
