The History of Champoeg Vineyard
Champoeg Vineyard is the home of Domaine Mathiot, a place that became known to early settlers as "La Butte." The vineyard, then measuring 320 acres, was claimed by Jean-Jacques Mathiot in 1855, and, as they say, the rest is history. In more modern times, Jack Myers and his wife, Miki, took control of the venue and helped to plant and establish several vineyards on the premises. The one they cherished the most, though, Champoeg Vineyard, is their personal patch of land.
