I love cake, so needless to say it was a high priority at my wedding. I was nervous that my wedding cake would be like lots of other wedding cakes I'd tasted over the years...dry, tasteless, and excessively decorated. After tasting cakes at ove...r 10 bakeries, the Buttery emerged a winner, hands down! In the tasting, every single cake was delicious. Even cakes that I usually don't care for, like carrot cake, were superb. After tasting the chocolate devil's food cake with hazlenut filling, and the vanilla rum raspberry cake, we were sold. And although we had not yet chosen our wedding venue, we knew from that moment, that our wedding cake would come from the Buttery. Jill was very friendly, professional, helpful, and patient, as our ideal cake vision was coming together.
When we eventually did pick our venue, unfortunately it was over an hour away, and so it was understandable that the Buttery could not deliver our cake. Jill was wonderful, and provided great printed information for our dear friends (volunteer cake delivery drivers!) on how to properly transport a cake to ensure safe arrival.
My husband and I did not see the cake, or really know what it would look like, until it was time to cut it...and it was beautiful beyond my wildest dreams. Everything we had talked about had come together in a sophisticated, elegant dream of a cake. Beautiful sugar pearls, smooth fondant (mainly to ensure a secure transport) over buttercream, finely crafter ribbons, highlighted by perfect lavender and cream roses. The Buttery had worked expertly with our florist, and everything was just perfect. And most importantly, it was the most delicious, moist and tasty cake my guests had every experienced at a wedding! :-)
We decided to not save the top tier, because I don't believe anything should be frozen for a year. The decline in quality is inevitable. Instead, I look forward to going back to the Buttery on one year from the day of our wedding, to enjoy a mini-replica anniversary cake!
