harm. It required almost no real decoration, as it was beautiful on its own. The garden is lovely, full of local wildflowers, especially verdant in the spring and summer. The food is catered by the folks at Kitty’s, a local favorite next door, who run the Caboose space, and it’s phenomenal. The only reason we are docking them a star is that our planning and communications with their team weren’t always very seamless, requiring us to do a decent amount of extra legwork to solve some late-in-the-process surprises. We had our entire wedding day at the Caboose, with a ceremony and cocktail hour in the garden. The space is perfectly set up, with a few different areas that feel connected yet distinct. There is a renovated train car that we re able to use for signing our certificate and having a private moment before celebrating, which was very sweet. We did have to rent a tent in case of rain, which we hadn’t known at first, but I believe is now part of the contract. We did end up using it as there was a chance of rain, but the Caboose handled all of the coordination there once it was cleared up. The other frustration with communication around rain plan was that we were initially led to believe that we could have our ceremony indoors in case of rain, with no real changes – it turns out that while we could’ve, we would have had to rent a partition to hide the dinner tables in the space. This was an extra cost, and by the time we had been told to rent it, the only option was a black curtain, which we weren’t too happy with. If we had been told earlier, we could have devised a better solution and saved some stress and money. Our reception was indoors, with dinner at long tables and dancing on the far end. It was the perfectly sized space for our 113-person wedding. The food was family style, and they were very accommodating to dietary restrictions and the chef, Nicole, was extremely collaborative, working with us to craft a lovely menu. Our only problem with the food was that there was some miscommunication in which menu to select from, as their ingredients are very seasonal. This led to a slightly confusing tasting and us having to submit our choices a few different times, as options changed with the seasons. They should hopefully have this more figured out now, but I would recommend triple-checking with them before making any selections or scheduling your tasting. That said, despite the hiccups, the food was great. However, it is worth mentioning that they made a mistake in our bill that, if we hadn’t double-checked our contract and their menu pricing, would have cost us a few thousand dollars extra. This was very frustrating and gave us a bit of a scare, as weddings are not cheap events. It’s good we caught it, but it would’ve been better if they had been more careful. While none of these planning stumbles were dealbreakers, they did add up. We would still highly recommend the Caboose – it’s a truly unique and special venue in a very lovely town – but it’s worth being extra communicative with their team.
