Cake Emporio was recommended to us by our venue. Our package included a cake from one of 4 bakeries and we ultimately went with this vendor. I am not typically a sweets person so ...
it takes quite the dessert to impress me. And Cake Emporio did just that. This is easily one of the best cakes i've ever had. Several guests called us after the wedding to find out where we got our cake from as they loved it so much. The owner Isa, was very warm and friendly when we came in for our tasting. She was very thorough with explaining our options and guided us through the decision making process. We ended up with the most beautiful cake and I cannot wait to dig into the tier that we had our venue save for us to take home lol. Thanks Cake Emporio for being part of our day!
We hired Cake Emporio for our wedding on September 26, 2025. We ordered a traditional Colombian black cake for 60 guests, decorated in white with green details to match our wedding...
colors. We did the tasting and everything seemed to be in order.
The problem happened on the day of the wedding, during delivery. Instead of unloading the cake in the safe area in front of the lobby (which is the only logical and appropriate place for deliveries), the Cake Emporio staff followed someone’s instruction from the hotel to push the cake cart up an extremely steep ramp, around 45 degrees. As expected, the cake was completely damaged in the process. It's hard to understand how someone with over 30 years of experience didn’t refuse to perform such a risky and obviously avoidable maneuver.
In response, Cake Emporio went back to their factory to prepare a dummy (fake) cake so we would at least have something on display. But that didn’t solve the issue. The replacement didn’t match the agreed aesthetic, and it wasn’t enough for all our guests. Not even us—the bride and groom—got to taste the cake at our own wedding.
The next day, we reached out expecting a sincere apology and fair compensation. Instead, we received a defensive response, with no responsibility taken. They offered us only $100 and a store credit, even though we paid nearly $1,400. Later, and only after insisting, they offered to refund $200 to our card—but only if we signed a document agreeing not to speak negatively about them. We, of course, refused.
After this experience, we cannot recommend this company. What disappointed us was not just the mistake on the day of the event, but also the lack of professional judgment during the delivery, and above all, the way they handled the complaint. A company with that level of experience should operate with higher standards and more empathy when dealing with something as meaningful as a wedding.
Our experience with Cake Emporio was deeply disappointing, and I feel obligated to share this to help other couples avoid similar issues on their wedding day.
Key issues we experi...
enced:
Misrepresentation of Services:
We paid an additional $250 specifically for sugar flowers
Received primarily silk flowers instead when mentioned we wanted zero silk flowers.
When confronted, Isabel claimed silk flowers were "part of the collection," contradicting our paid upgrade
Cake Construction Issues:
Delivered an entirely fake display cake with no cutting portion, despite charging for and promising a partial real cake for the traditional cutting ceremony.
Had to stage fake cake-cutting photos from specific angles
Sheet cake portions were significantly smaller than the agreed-upon 40 servings each of coconut guava and chocolate with chocolate ganache.
The potions were for a tasting.... ridiculous for the actual event.
Unprofessional Conduct:
Vendor entered venue unauthorized during our ceremony to add flowers to the cake
When contacted post-wedding to address these issues, Isabel was dismissive and refused to acknowledge the documented agreements
Denied previous discussions about the real cake portion for cutting.
I attempted to resolve these issues directly with Isabel, but was met with dismissive responses and denial of our agreements, despite having documentation. This experience significantly impacted our wedding day, forcing us to fake traditional moments that should have been genuine.
For couples considering Cake Emporio: Please thoroughly document all agreements and consider other vendors who will honor their commitments
