Our wedding cake was amazing! We had a Starfish theme and Paul created a perfect 3 tier cake with blueberry filling and a soft shiny sand beach. We had done a tasting prior to ordering Paul was very helpful with picking the flavors and colors, he did an amazing job!
We loved our cake and enjoyed working with Paul. When we went in for our appointment, we had no idea what we wanted other than half carrot cake without nuts and something 'traditional.' We looked at some pictures of recent cakes he recommended, and quickly decided on one style. After tasting and enjoying the carrot cake (all on the same day!), he immediately sketched out the cake we wanted and the designs/colors/icing/flowers we would need for decoration . His prices were reasonable and he didn't try to oversell. I'm looking forward to eating more cake at my 1 year anniversary!
My cake was exactly how I envisioned it! It was beautiful and tasted amazing. When I walked into my venue for the first time that morning, the first thing my eyes fell on was my cake! Thank you Paul and the staff over at Bristol Cake Gallery.
Thumbs up for The Cake Gallery! Paul was a pleasure to work with -- he took time to design a cake that fit with our theme and colors, and then let us taste several until we pinpointed our favorite cake/frosting combination. The cake looked terrific and tasted great, too. We're very happy we went with this company.
First of all, we loved how our cake looked and tasted! It was exactly the look that I had wanted (buttercream frosting in horizontal grooves and greenery/florals) and the taste was amazing (raspberry and lemon filling, vanilla cake). We also ended up having some extra, so we are still getting to enjoy it despite the fact that our wedding is now over. Paul is very accommodating and easy-going, and all around a nice person. He's also experienced and was able to offer advice and options, since our reception was outside. Doing the tasting with him and my parents was actually really fun--he kept us laughing! The one issue (and it's not a big one) is that sometimes it can be tricky to get a hold of him. I prefer using email, due to my job not being very conducive to letting me sit and make calls, and The Cake Gallery often needs you to telephone to go over things verbally. Keeping that in mind, I definitely recommend The Cake Gallery for your wedding cake needs--it will be delicious and will look beautiful, and that's all that matters!
Beautiful cake! I was very pleased with how my cake came out. The flavors we went with came out awesome and the design was better than I had hoped for. The price was spot on budget too. Paul was awesome to deal with and I would definitely recommend to anyone in Rhode Island
We decided to go with a cupcake tower with a small cake for us on top. The display was beautiful and the cake was DELICIOUS!
Baware of the Bride below this review. We have not spoken before even though she insists that we have. She is trying to get 5 tiers of wedding cake at the price of 5 Birthday Cakes. Even after explaining the pricing, she doesn't take no for an answer and doesn't understand the cost of a wedding cake. Why she feels she should pay less than any other Bride is beyond me.
The customer service here was awful. My fiance and I didn't want to have a traditional wedding cake, we just wanted to order five basic separate cakes to serve buffet style. We emailed this business in May to try and place that order and were told to call on the phone to discuss it. We played phone tag for about a month before finally getting the owner, Paul, to talk on the phone. He told me that I would need about 5 cakes but I would have to visit the shop to order them. I live in Brooklyn, so we planned to visit at an agreed-upon time. When we drove up for our final trip to finalize wedding planning we found the shop closed when we arrived. A worker who happened to be there opened the door for us and assured us that since it was a simple order we could place it by phone. We went home and finally got Paul on the phone again, and he told us that despite the prices and flavors displayed on the board, he would charge us double the price for a wedding cake. When we said we didn't want a wedding cake then accused us of trying to build our own wedding cake and of making up all of the phone calls that we had previously had where we had discussed having 5 individual cakes at the price advertised in the shop. Throughout all of this, Paul was hostile and unfriendly. We'd been warned by a local business not to use Cake Gallery but were hoping since it was such a simple order it would turn it out okay. Now I wish I had listened.
This tiny bakery in Bristol is unmatchable. Paul, the owner, is a master. He did both a rehearsal dinner cake and the wedding cake for my daughter's wedding.
For the rehearsal cake, he used two adorable doggie (bride and groom) cake toppers made by the mother of the groom. Paul went above and beyond by adding a wide plaid ribbon with bow and dying coconut green to put under the Scottie dogs. Everyone was blown away, first by the looks and then by the cake itself - a white cake with lemon fruit filling.
Next, for the wedding cake, which was two tiers of red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. Paul asked for a photo of flowers for the colors to be used and the gum paste flowers he created and decorated the top of the cake with only added to the simple, elegant cake, perfectly covered in cream colored fondant. The antique glass pedestal that my daughter chose to display the cake was not steady enough to hold the cake, so Paul went to work adding a foil covered pedestal to make it work. Again, no one could stop raving about the beauty and taste.
The moist, delicious cake, together with Paul's artistic talent make The Cake Gallery the best yet. Unfortunately, I live in New York City, but next time I'm in Bristol, I'll be sure to drop in.
Our wedding cake received rave reviews at to how delicious the taste was. Also the presentation of the cake was truly eye pleasing!
The owner is a baker but also an artist, and he makes beautiful cakes that taste AMAZINGLY good!! This was the best chocolate fudge cake I have ever had, and the design was beautiful. Everyone loved it, and found it to be very unique. The price was also extremely reasonable compared to many in the area as well.
I cant say enough wonderful things about my cake!! He did such an incredible job on my grooms cake and my actual wedding cake. The cakes were both beautiful and tasted incredible!! I will never use another baker again!!
I'm a designer so I gave Paul a quick sketch of my "vision" for my wedding cake. He did an amazing job! Paul also made my-then-fiance so incredibly happy by providing the BEST cake he's ever had during our tasting....and to top it off, it was gluten-free. My husband is celiac. I used to go to the Cake Gallery when I lived in Bristol 10 years ago. When we picked our venue in Newport, I knew the Cake Gallery HAD to make my wedding cake. We were so impressed with the samples we tasted during our tasting that we also asked Paul to provide the cupcakes for our rehearsal dinner. Again, we had both gluten free and regular.
The Cake Gallery was amazing. We had a cupcake tower with a top tier and a grooms cake decorated as the Alabama Football field. The cupcakes and cake were so good we had more then a few people that multiple cupcakes/cake slices. I would not hesitate to go back to the Cake Gallery again. I highly recommend them!
Soo good! real easy to work w/Paul and his staff. Loved our cake !
