The Cake Studio

The artistry she put into it was clear as it was beautiful as well as delicious :)

and wanted to make the cake 4 layers vs. 3 layers as she thought it would look better with the design. There was no extra charge. Katie knows what she is doing and can make any cake or design you want. She is very gifted! I loved her!

't overly sweet. We had an extra 40-50 pieces of cake over our guest count, and every piece was gone. People raved about how good it was! Just know, Katie communicates best by text. Talk to her that way--she'll always respond. She's also great about getting you samples beyond your tasting in case you want to try a different flavor. Talk to her about your vision, send her pictures, and she'll nail the design! My cake was breathtaking! Highly recommend!

that she lets you taste test before you pick your final flavors and design. Definitely recommend!

y, her work is beautiful and her cakes are absolutely delicious. She does prefer to communicate via text which helps if you’re someone who likes to have a paper trail of your conversations. As you get closer to your event, the communication increases and she has everything in order from what could have been a meeting you had months ago. The only reason I am not giving her the full 5 stars is because a very minor detail we discussed in the designing of our cake was missing. We discussed having little pearl dots on two of the layers but instead it was just flat. It wasn’t noticeable but because I knew it was supposed to be there, I was really the only person who knew it was missing. Definitely not a huge deal. All in all everything turned out wonderfully and I would absolutely use her again!

t after we did our cake tasting we were sold!!! Katie Koivisto with The Cake Studio is an amazing baker! She has multiple different flavors to choose from as well as cake styles. In addition to that, she is willing to customize anything that you would like. We loved so many of her flavors that we ended up going with 4 different flavors for our wedding (a different flavor for each tier of cake!) We chose Sophisticated Almond with fresh raspberries, Lemon cake with fresh blackberries, The Cassata cake with fresh strawberries, and her Signature cake with fresh raspberries. We met her at her house where she has a bakery in the lower level to finalize plans for our wedding cake and absolutely loved her! We had so many compliments on our cake after our wedding day! We definitely plan to order future cakes from her for other occasions! We highly recommend The Cake Studio for your wedding!

all to enjoy. We got two types of cake for our wedding: red velvet and buckeye. Both turned out equally AMAZING! Katie is very organized, professional, and knowledgable, and we are looking forward to having some on our 1 year anniversary. We recommend anyone to get their wedding cake at The Cake Studio!

xting. Was then slow to respond to text messages. The day of our wedding, the cake looked beautiful. But I am convinced that the almond cake we ordered was just vanilla. Not one guest I asked tasted almond. This was an important detail to me and I was pretty disappointed, especially after all the fuss with getting her to send answers to basic questions and correct our invoice to the correct flavors after repeating our order to her multiple times. I am always generous with reviews and it is hard for me to be negative here, but I can't in good faith recommend working with this vendor during an already stressful planning time.

ake designs. When I met with Mercedes I knew instantly I wanted her to make my cake. I chose four different flavours and had an add-on cake and they made my dream's come true. I was very happy with the final designs and the layers. On my wedding day everything came out beautiful. Not only that, all the cakes were delightfully delicious. I recommend Mercedes highly , she's hard working and very professional and delights I pleasing her customers for any occasion. Don't hesitate, get your cake made today by Mercedes. You won't regret it.!!!

e pickiest of eaters! She is also very creative in her design! It was like our cake was a work of art! I can’t wait to go back next year and order another personal cake !

process and quality of her cakes! We were so amazed. We can't wait until our anniversary because she makes you a new cake instead of freezing it for your 1 year!! All of our guests were absolutely amazed by her cake at our wedding. I HIGHLY recommend working with Katie! You won't regret it.

match with our wedding. We still have a little bit of cake left from our wedding that was a week and a half ago and it's still delicious! The Cake Studio is highly recommended!

me and maybe she just knew her timeline so she wasnt worried. Later on in the process after we met for a face to face meeting, she was more quick to respond and really was a pleasure working with. I wanted 5 different cakes, my husband and I's cutting cake which was 2 layers, two 7 inch cakes and 2 "baby" cakes that were supposed to be between 4-5 inches that would sit on candle holders. I provided 4 of the cake stands. Katie came and set up 3 of the cakes but left the "baby" cakes off their stands so my bridesmaids had to put them on their selves and the cakes were much larger than requested and didn't fit the stands that she had in her possession prior to making the cakes.. my MOH also told me the top of one of my cakes looked like someone took off some of the icing(maybe this happened while transporting?) either way it looked terrible and she had to pull some greenery from my florals to cover it up. Overall, cake was delicious but was pretty disappointed she didnt finish the set up and left it for my girls to do, the cakes weren't the right size (didn't even appear much smaller than the 7 inch cakes which they were clearly supposed to be "baby" cakes), and icing was smudged on one of the top of cakes! Really expected more...

eautiful it looked and how great it tasted.

I'm going to remember how amazing our cake was." We did a 5-tier cake with Strawberry Cassata and the Signature flavors, but substituted the layer of vanilla cake for almond cake in the Signature tiers because the almond cake was just so good at our tasting. The cake Katie designed for us was EXACTLY what I envisioned and it was so exciting to see it at our reception. Katie's buttercream frosting is the best frosting I have ever had (it's so smooth!). Even guests who do not eat cake (my MOH and MIL commented on how delicious and beautiful our cake was). Katie gives very generous portions at the tasting, too--which was so appreciated especially after a cake testing at a different vendor who gave such tiny samples you couldn't taste the flavors at all. Katie is extremely personable and was so fun to work with. She was very helpful and gave us a lot of advice--not only about the cake but also about other vendors. You can tell she loves her job and that she has a ton of experience. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Katie and the Cake Studio!!!

m. The reason I didn't give her 5 stars is because I wanted fresh flowers on my cake and I had bought them and had them delivered to my reception but they somehow didn't make it on the cake and it looked rather plain without them. Thankfully my mother noticed what happened and she and my now mother-in-law decorated the cake with the flowers themselves.

ted her to a friend and her cake was amazing too!

kes and had some really good ideas. The cake turned out amazing! I highly recommend using the cake studio!

she drew up a design that she thought we might like and we did! She made that initial sketch a reality and we were so happy with how the cake turned out. She's very creative and is great at what she does! The only thing I worried about with her was the lack of communication. A month before the wedding I contacted her to finalize details and order a cake sample. I did not hear back from her until I called her 2 weeks after my initial attempt to contact her. As a bride in the midst of wedding planning, that was a bit stressful, but I wasn't too terribly stressed because I was already aware of communication issues from other brides who had worked with Katie. As long as you are prepared for that it's not really a huge deal. Also, as the wedding day approached, she was easier to get a hold of and was very responsive. Just trust she knows her own timeline and that she will get the job done for you wonderfully!

making the perfect cake, Katie was a pleasure to work with. She communicated promptly and made sure we had no concerns. I would definitely work with her again and can confidently recommend her to anyone who wants a perfect cake; you will be in good hands!

s of cupcakes and they were all delicious - I think the coffee lovers was our absolute favorite though. Would highly recommend this vendor - found that texting was the best way to communicate with Katie after our initial consultation.

trawberry cassata and cookies and cream). We struggled with communication with Katie. When we sent our $100 deposit, it was cashed, but we never received a contract. Once we got it all straightened out, it then became difficult to schedule a time to meet with Katie and design the cake. Once we had our final guest count, I emailed Katie with our count and follow up questions (how many tiers would you suggest, please confirm the colors and design, here is the time to deliver, etc) and got no response. Katie then texted me asking for all that same information and also noted that she didn't have any notes that a deposit had been received. We felt the price of Katie's cakes were absolutely wonderful. But we constantly felt nervous that something was going to go wrong simply because we felt there was an opportunity for Katie to forget about something specific we discussed. It may have just be a lack of organization this year, or it could be a completely isolated experience. Overall, we thought the cake turned out great (and we can't wait to eat our top layer in a year). We just wish it had been a bit of a smoother process.

was also amazing. She was a pleasure to work with. All of our wedding guest told us how good the cake was. Thank You Katie!!!

ous, and the buttercream icing is amazing! We received many compliments about our cake from our guests, and it looks beautiful in our wedding pictures.

cause they looked so realistic! We had non stop compliments from our guests. We couldn't have asked for more delicious cake!

back to me about my inquiry and when we sat down to design my wedding cake, it was a breeze! Her prices are a bit expensive but she offers ways to fit your budget. On my wedding day, I absolutely loved my wedding cake!! It was very pretty and delicious. On the down side.. a $100 deposit was required for using her cake stand. I was told once her cake stand was returned to her, she would refund the $100. Well, on my wedding day there wasn't a cake stand at all which was very disappointing. After contacting her several times about my refund, a $100 check was mailed but it was bit of a hassle getting my money back.

er. I leave a voicemail. I do this about 4 more times. She never calls back and I haven't heard from her since the appointment. Don't waste your time with someone who isn't capable of following up or returning a call. There's a good chance she will forget the cake on your wedding day.

fantastic!!

is extremely talented at baking cakes and decorating them. Our wedding cake was the most beautiful cake I have ever seen and it was absolutely delicious! I recommend The Cake Studio to everyone now!

ng, she sat down with us, showed us her portfolio of cakes, and even provided us with a few samples of some of the flavors she offers! We chose a 4-tiered decorated cake and a sheet cake to accommodate all 200+ guests, 5 flavors in total, and our guests could not stop raving about our cake!! So many family and friends said that it was the best cake they had ever had. Not to mention our 4-tiered decorated cake was absolutely beautiful! She matched our vision completely. She is such a talented baker AND cake designer! My only complaint is that there were times where I would email or text Katie and would not hear back for several weeks, if at all. We wanted to see if we could sample a flavor that we had not tasted at our initial tasting, but she never got back to us. I would have preferred a little more communication, but honestly, at the end of the day, it didn’t matter, as our cakes were incredible! We were beyond impressed with them, especially our 4-tiered decorated cake!! I would definitely recommend The Cake Studio!

e put personalized touches in my cake as well as made it look beautiful! The only reason there is no 5 is that Katie is a busy women, which makes communication in the beginning a little difficult! But no worries once she has signed to do your cake you are in great hands! Thank You Katie!

Cake Studio because their work is so amazing but I compared pricing to Giant Eagle and they were just $50 less!! The cake was so beautiful we did not want to cut into it but we were glad we did! The signature cake is to die for but the buckeye and lemon-lemon strawberry were amazing! I only had 50 guest but we ordered a larger cake to serve 100 and we had guest fighting over every crumb! I can't wait to eat our anniversary tier and might just order one next year. Amazing beautiful cakes and wonderful small business! We were so happy!

ge and I've never received a reply to any form of communication. I kept trying because my fiancé and I had tried the cake at a bridal show and it was by far the best. My wedding is two months out and I can't wait any longer. If you don't have capacity or aren't interested for some reason, politely declining would be appropriate. Right now the only message being put out is that you're either not interested in doing business or at least clearly not interested in my business.

initely a highlight of my wedding, it was absolutely gorgeous and tasted even better. All of the leftovers were gobbled up the next day. So easy to work with! If I could give her 6 stars, I would.

ith her in phone and in person she was the sweetest! Our wedding coordinator sent over our order sheet to Katie and took care of all of the details for us. The cake looked perfect, exactly how she had shown in her brochure. As far as the taste, it was incredible! We picked four tiers: (1) the Signature (half chocolate, half vanilla), (2) Buckeye Celebration (peanut butter & chocolate), (3) Cassata (strawberries, cream, & vanilla), and (4) the lemon cake. I regret not getting a chance to try #2 and 3, but we ate #1 and it was perfect. So excited to eat #4 next year! We definitely recommend the cakes from The Cake Studio.

et on two occasions, the first was to try the cake and develop a cake design and the second was to finalize last minute details. We had an idea of how we wanted the cake to look and Katie took that and ran with it. She is truly a talented baker. The cake looked flawless once it arrived at the venue and guests could not stop commenting on how beautiful it looked. We had multiple guests comment that it was the absolute best wedding cake they have ever tasted. I recommend getting her signature flavor. You won’t be disappointed with this. It’s perfect because it has both vanilla and chocolate cake in every piece and the chocolate ganache and raspberry filling in the middle is divine. Not to mention that the buttercream frosting was one of the best I have even tasted. We had a large guest count so Katie also made “kitchen cakes” to help keep our costs down. She was great to work with and I cannot wait to sample another cake from her.

was so impressed - she did an amazing job! The cake was absolutely delicious!!

communication, I sent a few e-mails and tried to schedule a special tasting to try a flavor that was not provided during our initial consult at Scioto Reserve Country Club and they never responded to my request. We ordered the flavor anyway and it exceeded our expectations. I just would have preferred a little more communication.

g to work with couples in creating their perfect wedding cake. Our cake was absolutely stunning and we truly appreciated Katie's attention to detail in making it. We had french vanilla with fresh strawberries, lemon with fresh raspberries, and cinnamon carrot cake for our guests and we got rave reviews from our families and friends. It was delicious and I can't wait to eat our top layer next year on our anniversary!

ted in our anniversary cake. Katie said we could have whatever kind of cake we wanted so we chose one with chocolate and raspberry filling. Since I couldn't wait to have a piece, I broke tradition and cut into our anniversary cake when we returned from our honeymoon. I was extremely disappointed to find it was not the cake and filling I had asked for. It was again hard to contact her about it to have her fix it. I'm glad I was able to catch the mistake so it can hopefully be fixed. I imagine if I had waited a year to find this out I would have been even more upset.

sweetness. She also designed our grooms cake which turned out awesome and for an excellent price!
