For our wedding, we did not want to do a big wedding cake for the guests, but we did want to do a ceremonial cake cutting. We didn’t want to spend too much on a small cake, but did want it to be good! The Cakery bakes up a delicious cake that was exactly what we wanted - simple white frosting on the outside, tastey cake on the outside. We are going to order one again on our one year anniversary!
First of all, I need to thank Maria and her team at The Cakery for making our amazing wedding cake! Our wedding was at the Marriott SFO Waterfront in Burlingame. The wedding package included a wedding cake from The Cakery. I had never been to the bakery before and boy have I been missing out! From the very beginning, everyone at the bakery was very easy to talk to and very accommodating. We walked in to schedule a cake tasting and they set up an appointment with us right away. We chose the four flavors we wanted to try. When we came for the tasting, the mini cakes looked so cute and tasted so good! Maria came out and sat with us during the tasting. Since there was only one flavor out of the four we chose that we really liked, Maria said to choose a few more flavors to try and come back for another tasting because she wanted us to be able to try all the flavors we were interested in. She wanted to make sure our wedding cake was really what we wanted. We ended up tasting one additional flavor and decided on the white cake with passion fruit filling and buttercream frosting.
We wanted a simple design on the cake so I showed Maria a picture and they made it exactly how we wanted it! It was simple yet sophisticated and elegant! The cake was DELICIOUS and we got a lot of compliments from our guests. The cake was not too sweet and it was not dry at all. Since we had leftover cake, we took it home. A week later, we were still eating the cake and it was still moist!
Since I’ve never been to The Cakery before, I tried some of their other pastries and they are to die for! The raspberry twists and passion fruit mousse!!! Yum! They’re also known for their princess cake!
I highly recommend The Cakery for cakes of all events and for their delicious slice cakes and pastries!
We chose a 6-tier wedding cake with hazelnut cake and dulce de leech filling. It was moist and delicious. I provided a picture of the cake design I wanted, and they nailed it! I was very happy with The Cakery.
I gave them a picture of what i wanted and it turned out exactly as I asked, it was gorgeous and very fitting with my rustic theme. The cake tasted ok. I've had better cake, but it was delicious and they gave us a couple different flavors. They were very easy to work with and they coordinated the delivery with my venue, so I had nothing to worry about!
Our cake was everything we wanted. We decided to go for a non-traditional looking wedding cake that was purple and yellow (our wedding colors). We looked through several books at the store to get ideas of cakes and designs they have done before. They have done a ton. From traditional all white cakes, to colorful playful cakes. From the tasting appointment, to delivery, everything went very smoothly. The cake was beautiful, the colors vibrant, and the taste delicious (we had chocolate cake with fudge filling for one layer and raspberry for the other two, YUM). The Cakery did an amazing job and I would highly recommend them for anything from wedding cakes, to birthday cakes, to just stopping by and grabbing something tasty to eat!
Overall, very pleasant to work with, and we got what we wanted. We also got this place through our wedding Venue, Wedgewood. I was pleased with the Marziapan flavor frosting, but in terms of taste, everything was just so sweet. Not my favorite cake, but I'm not a huge cake fan to begin with.
The Cakery in Burlingame created a beautiful and delicious 5 tier cake for my large wedding reception. My favorite was the white cake with apricot filling, it was delicious! I cannot comment on the cost and value as they were included in a package that I went with from the Wedgewood at Crystal Springs.
Located in the heart of downtown Burlingame. Their cakes are really really amazing. My wedding cake was delish and the service was always great! I can't remember her name, although I should... but she helped me and made everything easy. (She's the main lady that does wedding cakes i believe) She even had left over ribbon from a previous cake that she was able to use on my 4 tier cake. It matched perfectly with my color. Which saved me the run around... I love this bakery! 5stars
The cake was part of my wedding package from my wedding venue. I didn't really make the effort to shop around for cakes so I just settled for this as it was part of my package. I didn't want to have purchase the cake separate. They did follow my instructions to exact specifications as I requested. I have simply taste so my decoration was very simple. The flavor of the cake was nothing special, I've had better tasting cake. It could be that I didn't choose the best cake and filling. They offer a tasting appointment but they have a few options and during the tasting you can only choose three cakes and three fillings to taste.
The cake flavors were fantastic! The cake was so delicious that even my husband who doesn't like cake, enjoyed it! My only complaint is that I wanted a gold cake and it looked more beige to me. :) My MIL thought it looked gold, but I didn't. Either way, it's a small thing to complain about when the design was beautiful and they were great to work with.
My husband and I wanted to have a unique cake that reflected us. So with our non-art skills we drew a really rough sketch of what we wanted our cake to look like. They were able to execute it perfectly! It looked amazing! The cake was tastey but a little dry.
My wife and I did the standard cake tasting process where we made appointments all over town to taste cakes, look at designs, and choose the right bakery for our special day. The Cakery won our business because the tasting went really well, their designs were nice, and the price was right! We went with a 3 level butter cream cake with lemon cream filling. We asked them to color the cake from dark to light, bottom to top, to match a very unique shade of blue we used in the wedding. The concept was to match the very bottom to our color and fade to white at the top of the cake. Sounds easy right? The execution was less than thrilling - it turned out looking like an underwater themed cake. This type of design is definitely not their strong suit and I wish they would have been upfront about it so we could have chosen something else. Other than the shading mishap, we were pleased with the delivery and taste.
The Wedding Cake was delicious! We received so many comments on how good the cake was. They were able to design the cake I wanted and had several flavors to choose from.
My parents have used The Cakery for almost every big occasion - my graduation, my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary, birthdays, and now, my wedding. They designed a beautifully delicious cake for us, and even helped us lower costs when we found out our guest count would be smaller (they suggested using a sheet cake for the extra people over the round, stacked cake). The most amazing part about our cake was our topper. Being that my husband and I are both pilots, I made an airplane topper that was held up with wire surrounded by clouds held up by wire. The thing was heavy and kind of strange looking. I asked Maria (the owner, I believe) if she'd be able to use it, and she assured me it'd be fine, and she'll make it look good. Then the airplane fell off the wire that was holding it up. Maria just looked at me and said "it'll need glue, no problem." To tell you the truth, I was REALLY worried about how it'd turn out. When I saw it, I could not believe how amazing it looked. To top it all off, the cake was delicious -- as always!! They were a bit pricey, but mostly because we had them deliver all the way to Fremont. They don't have the BIGGEST selection of cakes, but they DEFINITELY master the cakes they have. I love the Cakery!!
This place is the best. My wedding cake was so beautiful. I couldn't stop admiring how beautiful it turned out. Not only did it look beautiful, it tasted great too! It was a yellow sponge cake with 3 different cream fillings. It was lite and moist. The perfect combination. The price of cake was included in our wedding package.
I loved my cake and Maria from the Cakery was great. She was so nice and happy to have us come in to do a taste test.
The cake was included with the package we chose at Wedgewood Crystal Springs, which made it very easy.
It was really hard to choose a flavor since all were great. The cake is moist and delicious. Also, no need to freeze the top layer for your year anniversary. They'll make you a mini version of your cake on your one year anniversary at no cost!! Woo hoo!
They are quick via email and seem to really enjoy what they do which translates into amazing customer service.
Our cake was delicious, moist and decorated beautifully. It was beyond what we expected. We also had a groom's cake that was shaped like a baseball that was a great hit. The customer service was outstanding and I knew I did not have to worry about a thing.
Our wedding cake from The Cakery was not only the most beautiful cake that I've ever seen but delicious too!
Our decision meeting was so easy - we spent less than half an hour tasting cake (we already knew what we wanted!) and sharing our vision for our cake. The Cakery fulfilled my vision - and our wedding cake was everything we wished it to be!
The best part? We got a gift certificate for a fresh cake top for our first anniversary - can't wait to enjoy the chocolate cake with hazelnut filling again!
The price was included in our reception at Wedgewood Crystal Springs!
The Cakery did a fabulous job and the cake Looked Amazing and tasted delicious. They were very flexible about the variety and allowed me to bring in my own ribbon and flowers. We were able to go in for a tasting, do 4 different fillings and 2 different cake flavors because we just couldn't decide, everything was SOOO good. I would reccommend them for someone doing their cake a la carte if it is not included in their vendor- but once again Wedgewood had that included in our package so I am not sure how much this cost by itself.
looked beautiful but not as tasty as I would've liked
We got this vendor because it was included on our package. When you go to their store make sure you bring plenty of coins with you for the meters! They have bad customer service. They told us the cake tasting will only take 45 mins. So we put a hour for the meter & made us wait so long. The cake we had was horrible on our wedding. It was dry & the fondant was hard as a rock. The chocolate raspberry filling was good though. Good thing the cake look good! I wouldn't recommend them on a special occasion especially for wedding.
They were very easy to work with, did exactly what I asked for, and the cake tasted and looked great the day of my wedding.
;wasn't exactly like the picture
The cake was very delicious. We tried different cakes they make and settled on a great tasting cake and a simple design.;The more elaborate your cake is the more money it will cost you. The cakery made beautiful and elegant cakes for under 1000.00 to feed 200 people. You also want to find out if the baker will deliver to the venue. This is very important.
The cake tasted EXCELLENT! And was fairly priced.;When our cake arrived it was about to topple over. The delivery person said he was not able to fix it. When we called the bakery, they said that unless it actually fell over they wouldn't do anything about it because they didnt have someone to send. We thought that was unprofessional. Also, some of their staff (though not the actual person in charge of wedding cakes) were rude when we came in to the bakery for a tasting.
This bakery does a better job than the more expensive ones.
