From the moment we arrived at Carrey Garden, we knew we had found something special. Whenever someone asked where our wedding would be, I’d say, “It’s someone’s home turned into a ...
wedding venue.” But once our guests arrived, they couldn’t tell the difference—it felt like a professionally designed, breathtaking space.
The venue’s charm begins the moment you pull into the spacious parking lot and catch your first glimpse of the grounds. A beautiful archway welcomes you in, instantly transporting you into a magical setting. Our guests loved the unique features like the putt-putt green and cozy outdoor fire pits perfect for making s’mores.
One of the highlights was the koi pond—it’s a fairytale-like fountain that added a romantic touch rarely seen at weddings. The upper level of the venue was ideal for group photos, and the bar, a charming little building with domestic keg hookups, was a hit with our guests. The bathrooms were easily accessible, with a thoughtful option near the bridal suite for senior guests.
The grassy area was perfect for kids to play and enjoy lawn games, and the enormous tent with its stunning chandelier created a dreamy atmosphere for our reception. The dance floor was spacious enough for everyone to enjoy, whether dancing or relaxing to the music.
The bridal and groomsmen suites were beautifully set up and had everything we needed to feel comfortable and pampered. I especially appreciated the well-lit bridal suite—it made getting ready feel extra special. And the lending library was a game-changer! It allowed us to save money by reusing beautiful decorations that would otherwise go to waste.
Doug and Penny, the venue owners, were absolutely incredible. We had a unique request: a small, intimate micro-wedding one day, followed by a larger celebration the next weekend. They supported us every step of the way, even taking time to talk with us while on vacation. Their guidance and reassurance helped us feel confident in every decision.
They also provided a fantastic list of recommended vendors and services, many of which we used. DJ Dougie kept the energy high and nailed every cue, and Penny—such a sweetheart—stepped in on our wedding day to help coordinate everything seamlessly. The professionalism of everyone involved was top-notch; my husband was even surprised when he was called “sir”—a testament to the training and care Doug and Penny put into their team.
In summary, our experience at Carrey Garden was nothing short of amazing. The venue is stunning, the team is exceptional, and the packages they offer make planning easy and stress-free. I’m so grateful we found this gem and the wonderful people behind it. I can confidently say—we have zero regrets.

ails everywhere you look. What truly made the experience unforgettable were the hosts, Penny and Doug. They are some of the kindest, most welcoming people I've ever met. From the moment we toured the space, they made us feel like family.
What really set Carey Gardens apart was how convenient and comprehensive everything was. They offered a free and expansive lending library for décor, which was such a thoughtful touch and saved us time and money. Most other venues we looked at only offered this for an extra charge. Penny and Doug also provided the option to make our cake, DJ the event, teach us dance lessons, and even coordinate the bussing team. All of which were top-notch. It was like a one-stop-shop for everything we needed, which helped ease so much of the stress that usually comes with planning a wedding.
I can’t recommend Carey Gardens enough. If you're looking for a venue that’s beautiful, warm, and run by genuinely amazing people, this is the place. Thank you, Penny and Doug, for making our day so magical!

d there was no problem at all accommodating so many people. The whole night and afterwards our guests were commenting on how awesome the venue was.
Second, Doug and Penny who run the venue, are an absolute pleasure to work with. They take a lot of pride in their venue, and really go the extra mile to make sure the couples who are having weddings there have an amazing experience. Doug has this great reaffirming confidence, where you know if he says he’s going to do something or fix a problem, it’s going to get done and get done right. Penny is a Jack-of-all-trades, and seemingly can really do anything! From vendor recommendations, to venue management, to fixing the wedding cake after I dropped it the morning of the wedding (oooops) - Penny will have your back the entire wedding process. Penny and Doug are a dynamic duo, and were the second wedding coordinators that we didn’t know we needed but are so so grateful that we had.
My lovely wife(!) Michelle and I both highly recommend this venue for weddings or any other events that you might want to plan!
Bride and Grooms beware, if you are looking for a kid friendly venue, this is NOT the place. Two, if you want someone to trash talk your wedding all day, then this is the place for...
you because Penny does a great job of that! The venue was beautiful, which is why I gave it 2 stars, but due to Penny (the owner) being awful and rude the whole day, she really ruined this venue.
What a way to start one of the happiest days for a Bride by the bridal party being yelled at for being there two minutes before 10 am. Then, the bride was nervous to even hang her dress anywhere because Penny may come in and yell at her.
Next a ladder Penny gave the dad of the bride to hang decorations gave out and he got seriously injured, instead of asking if he was ok she was huffing and puffing around the venue rolling her eyes and saying things like "oh great". Doug was walking in from the parking lot and goes, "Uh oh, what happened?" and just kept walking like he didn't actually care.
Doug was also walking in and out of the bridal suite since it is in the basement of their private home, and there was no "is everyone decent" before he made an entrance, so there no privacy. There was 1 bathroom and one tiny room to get dressed for 9 people, which was super crowded, but was too worried to get dressed in the open just in case Doug walked in unannounced.
When asked for hot water for a baby bottle, she doesn't help, she will treat you like you are the biggest inconvenience because she could not be bothered as she was just sitting at a table talking to people.
When the brides wedding coordinator asked if she had a zip lock bag to put a stinky diaper so it didnt stink up the place her response was "let me stop everything I'm doing to go get you a zip lock" in a very rude and sarcastic way.
When cutting the cake, Penny was complaining about the cake and making rude comments loudly enough that guests could hear.
Doug was the DJ and did not get everyone excited to get on the dance floor. There was no "hey everyone this is the last song let's get on the dance floor", he just got on the mic at 10pm and said "sorry I have to turn it off" and walked away and that was that!
When cleaning up for the night, there was left over food the mother of the bride had boxed up to be taken home in the fridge and told the bridal party to take (separate from the bride and groom to go boxes) Penny comes rushing over to hover to see what was going on like we were taking her food.
Again, super unprofessional and rude, I don't suggest working with Penny she truly brought the day down with her awful manners and attitude on a day that is supposed to be happy and fun! For the price they charge you can do better.

to the venue itself: DJ, Catering, Bartenders, Lawn Games, Dancing Lessons etc. Anything you could want! The best part about them is they are 100% genuine. They are not in this to make money off of you, they care about you. That was clear straight from the beginning. Penny & Doug spent weeks cooking all of our food and Penny even made her famous Vegan BBQ recipe because I myself (the bride) and many of my family + friends are vegan. INCREDIBLE. They always responded to all my emails right away and had suggestions/recommendations all along the way. They allowed my family to come visit the property whenever we wanted and made sure that we were happy with everything by sending me in-progress pictures of site renovations. The venue is perfect for large or small weddings. I had 245 guests and there was tons of space! Our guests are dancers so my main concern was the size of the dance floor, which is huge! Takes over completely under their porch which has strobe lights and is well enclosed in case of rain. On my wedding day I even got to hold the Carey's 3-week-old puppies! These people are kind, generous and honestly will feel like family by your wedding day. I highly recommend The Carey Farm. The food was excellent. All of the guests (and of course, we, the bride and groom) loved the BBQ, hot dogs, and all of the fixings. While all the food was amazing, we especially like their cole slaw and sweet iced tea. For 2 southerners looking for an outside wedding with good comfort food, it was perfect!
