Great remodel, vibrant colors, modern touches, enjoyed our stay. Last night we also checked out the inner 2nd floor courtyard, so cute, we’ll stay in one of those rooms next time.

We loved our stay here and will definitely be back. The remodel is so lovely and boutique like; nice beds, decor, spacious room and bathroom. There are so many cute shops and places to eat within walking distance. We loved Binx Coffee, Lebbers ...

The front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. The bakery next door served delicious breakfast sandwiches and pastries. So convenient!
Location was great. Made for easy travel to nearby Paso Robles and other attractions.

hrooms with both a jacuzzi and shower! The rooms and hotels are also incredibly clean and the staff is great! The location is also great since it is downtown and offers close options for food snd shops! We can’t wait to stay again! It is our new favorite hotel on the central coast!
We just checked in and I rarely take the time to write reviews, but this place immediately stood out. The Carlton absolutely overdelivers for the price point. It may be positioned as a 3-star, but this feels much closer to a 4-star experience.

The room is beautifully designed—bright but soft tones, tasteful color palette, and a really thoughtful blend of historic charm with modern touches. The hardwood floors were a great surprise (and no overpowering cleaning chemical smell, which is more common than it should be). Everything feels clean, intentional, and elevated. The space itself is large—both the room and bathroom feel more generous than most hotels in this category.
Location is excellent—right off El Camino Real and steps from great dining options, including a bakery next door. Having a restaurant on-site is another big plus.
What really set the tone, though, was the service. Skye checked us in around 9pm and couldn’t have been more welcoming. He took his time, got us oriented, and made the experience feel personal—something you almost never get with a late check-in.
There is simply nothing on the Central Coast at this price point that matches this combination of charm, design, and overall experience. We’ll absolutely be back.
